The EPBD...The European Commission’s Energy Performance of Building Directive has stated that all commercial buildings must provide an EPC...Energy Performance Certificate when they are built, sold or rented and a DEC...Display Energy Certificate displayed by a certain criteria of public buildings along with inspections and advisory reports on certain air conditioning systems by 2009.
There will be a phasing in period starting from the 6th of April 2008 for all Non-Domestic buildings with a floor area larger than 10,000m2 that are built, sold, rented or marketed, meaning that they must have an Energy Performance Certificate.
July the 1st 2008 will see the next phase of the operation coming into force on all Non-Domestic Buildings with a floor area larger than 2,500m2 and then all other buildings need to comply from the 1st October 2008.
Now is the time for all existing Domestic Energy Assessors and Home Inspectors to grab the opportunity to enhance and further their careers in the Energy Assessment field by adding to their already Government recognized qualifications and furthering their earning capacity, in what is going to be a very lucrative field...by training to become a Commercial Energy Assessor.
