I've received a few emails after my last
newsletter, but one question got asked a lot more
than others, so I'm going to answer it here:
*Question*
"I have a large number of keywords in one
adgroup, I don't have multiple adgroups set up.
Will this affect my bid rates if I follow your
advice on 'adding more pages to my website in
order to prevent increased bid prices?"
*Answer*
You should always categorize your keywords as
tightly as you can, into separate adgroups. This
may seem tedious, but it has many benefits:
- It allows you to see at a glance which
keyword groups are converting to sales better for
you (assuming you have conversion tracking set up,
we will place your google adwords conversion
tracking code on our thank you page if you ask us
to).
- It allows you to create more targeted ads.
E.g. You can create an ad all about "Conversation
Tips for Couples" for 'conversation tips couples'
keywords.
- Using the {KeyWord:} wording in a
single google adwords adgroup is not a good idea
any more. It is seen as less relevant than if you
were to specify manually what your landing page is
about. This means that you need to create separate
adgroups for each topic and create appropriate ads
and adgroups.
It also helps if you link to separate landing
pages, based on the ad that you have created. This
helps ensure that you get a good Google Quality
Score.
For example: An ad for "Love Languages
Explained" should link to a "Love Languages
Explained" landing page. This is much better from
a Quality Score point of view than linking to a
generic "Save Marriage" landing page.
I hope that you find this advice helpful and
good luck with your affiliate promotions!
Regards,
Andrew
