Head lice can be picked up at daycare, school, summer camp,
bible camp or even if your children's friends come for a
sleepover and they are infected. While lice are extremely
irritating and annoying, there are many different treatments to
get rid of them. Some people don't want to utilize the medicated
shampoos that you can purchase at the drug store because they
are so potent – especially for children. Luckily, there are some
great head lice home treatments that you can utilize to get rid
of head lice for good. Here are some of the best head lice home
treatments.

Mayonnaise or Petroleum Jelly – Many people have used these
products with great success. The purpose of using these is to
smother the lice. Because of the thick coating you get in your
hair with mayonnaise or petroleum jelly, the head lice are
smothered and are unable to get air. After a long period of
time, usually overnight, the lice have suffocated and are dead.
Then, you will rinse out the hair and then go through the hair
with a fine-tooth comb. This removes the dead head lice and the
eggs.

Essential Oils – Many essential oils are natural insecticides
and repellents. Use eucalyptus oil, anise oil, ylang ylang oil,
geranium oil, or citronella oil. Place several drops of one or
more of these oils into a fourth or half cup of olive oil. This
dilutes the essential oils so the potency does not irritate the
scalp. Saturate the entire head with the oils and allow it to
sit for 30 minutes to an hour. If possible, place a shower cap
on the head and allow the infected person to leave the oil on
overnight. Then, use a fine-tooth comb to go through the hair
and remove the dead head lice and eggs.

Combing Method – Rather than using a product, it is possible to
simply get rid of head lice by combing them or picking them out.
This is a great way to treat head lice for small children who
may be oversensitive to chemicals in medicated shampoos. You
will need to apply some conditioner in order to help the comb
slide through all of the hair. Remove all the lice that you find
as well as the eggs. You will have to do this several times in
order to get the newly hatched lice. Also, you will need to
treat bedding, hair accessories, scarves, and anything else that
may have come into contact with the head lice. You will need to
do this no matter what sort of treatment you use.

You can simply throw washable items into the washer and run
them through with hot water. Then, dry them at the hottest
setting for 30 minutes to an hour. For items that cannot be
washed, send them to the dry cleaner. Purchase new hairbrushes,
combs and hair accessories. If you don't want to throw away the
old ones and purchase new ones, allow them to soak in boiling
hot water for an hour. Then wash them with soap and hot water.
These tips and tricks will help you treat head lice with home
treatments that really work.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Q. Dear Mr. Modem: I'm not having any luck reinstalling an old
software program on my new computer. The program is about 12
years old and it's worked well up until now. I even tried
installing the most recent version, but it's changed so much
through the years, I didn't like it. Is there anything I can do,
or have I reached the end of the line?

A. Mrs. Modem had a similar dilemma with a very old, DOS-era
address book program she used since the primordial days of
computing. I tried everything I could think of, including
running the Windows Compatibility Wizard, but it just sneered
derisively at my futile attempts. The situation was never
resolved to Mrs. Modem's satisfaction—something I still hear
about on occasion—however, I did take great pains to gently
explain the inevitability of software obsolescence. It's a fact
of digital life at times, and while it is occasionally possible
to get a program to run on an operating system for which it was
not designed, such resolutions are usually temporary, at best.

I would suggest taking another look at the current version
which you installed successfully. Understandably, it won't be
exactly like your old program, but surely it has some redeeming
qualities. With the right mindset, I suspect that over time you
will become comfortable with, and may actually grow to enjoy,
the new version.

Out with the Old; In with the New

I regularly hear from users who are required, for one reason or
another, to accept a new version of older software, and who
resist it every step of the way. They complain that their old
program used to perform a given task that the new version cannot
perform, or they repeatedly express how the old program was so
much better than the new version.

When you find yourself in that situation, you have a choice:
You can resist the new program and speak disparagingly of it,
but what does that accomplish? As lyrist Edwin Starr so
eloquently wrote, "Absolutely nothin'." It's really a
counterproductive exercise that only serves to reinforce a
negative initial impression of the newer program.

A more productive approach is to accept the fact that the old
program is gone forever, just as surely as Fluffy, your
childhood cat, dog, or family rodent. You probably thought you
would never recover from that loss, but with the passage of
time, you did. (You did, didn't you?) So celebrate the memory of
the old program, but embrace the reality of the new application.
And while you're at it, try to resist continually comparing the
new program with the old one. There comes a point when it's
simply time to move on.

Once a level of acceptance is achieved, you will start to
appreciate some of the features incorporated within the new
program. Within a month's time, you will have successfully
completed the transition to the new program and your beloved old
program will be little more than a hazy, distant memory—not
unlike the `60s are to Mr. Modem. Change is an integral part of
computing and at the very core of technological evolution.

Thinking back a few years—okay, a few decades, if you want to
pick nits—I remember being blissfully content with DOS. Then
that fancy-shmancy Windows came along and ruined everything. In
short order, all my DOS programs, all my beloved command-line
entries that I knew so well were gone and I was suddenly forced
to use a mouse. Through the passage of time, I warmed up to
Windows and stopped complaining about—no, on second thought, I
am still irritated about it.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your relationship
with your old program has reached the end of the road, my
friend. I wish I could offer some comforting words, but renowned
philosopher Neil Sedaka probably said it best when he opined:
"Breaking up is hard to do. Come-a come-a, down doo-bee-doo,
down down."

Well, the first part, anyway.

Since you are the "for sale by owner" seller, you will
frequently receive phone calls from potential buyers with
inquiries about the home for sale. When you Get a call from a
potential buyer who has seen the house within the past few days
and wants to learn more about the house, you know you are on the
right track. More often than not, they will want to see the
house one more time before they make their final choice. There
are still many things you must accomplish in order to acquire a
written sales contract.

The first step is inviting the potential buyer back as soon as
you can possibly manage. Make sure the house looks perfect and
ready to be shown even though the buyer has already seen it once
before. This may be the visit where they will choose to either
make an offer to purchase your home or go down the road to
another house where they were interested in taking a second
look.

It is vital to greet the potential buyer warmly by offering a
refreshment, such as tea, coffee or a soft drink. You want them
to feel very much at home. Give them another chance to look
around the house again, but you shouldn't hang over their
shoulder. Give them the chance walk freely through the house and
feel as though they will be the owners of this house. If they
are interested they will probably want to ask more questions
after looking at the house. If they don't ask any questions,
they most likely are not going to buy your house. When they do
ask questions, it is vital to answer the questions honestly.
This is your chance to set the pace for negotiations. The best
approach is to stay calm and be friendly.

If you are lucky, the buyer will just come right out with the
fact that they are interested in the house and may ask for the
next step. You should always be prepared for this. It is vital
that the buyer put his offer in writing. Another option is to
make arrangements for a contract attorney to negotiate the
contract, in which case, the attorney will provide you with
contract forms. Be sure to give one of these contract forms to
the buyer. If the buyer seems to only want to talk about the
sale, you want to stay on the same page. Keep the discussion
friendly about the purchase of the house, but keep in mind, you
are not obligated to anything you talk about unless it is in
writing.

You should probably avoid negotiating price verbally. Usually,
a buyer will ask for your bottom dollar price. You can respond
by saying that before you can consider negotiating price, you
will need to see his entire offer in writing and proof they are
able to qualify for the loan.

Ultimately, you must remain calm and friendly. Don't take any
negative remarks personally about the price or your house.
Generally, a "for sale by owner" deal will be a beneficial
situation for both parties, so don't allow negotiations to
become overly heated or personal.

Learning English vocabulary let alone the grammar that goes
along with it can be difficult enough, but when presented with
some of the common English sayings that don't seem to make much
sense can be cause for a little confusion. The confusion is
especially prevalent in those learning how to speak the English
language, so it is good to know what some of the common sayings
mean in order to not be left in the dark.

"I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole."

This saying is very common, especially if the "that" referred
to in the sentence is something that is not liked. Maybe it is a
garbage can or a person that is strongly disliked. Obviously,
the person making the statement will not go within ten feet.

"I'm happy as a clam."

A clam? How is a clam happy? A clam sits at the bottom of the
ocean doing absolutely nothing. It doesn't have to go to work
every day, it doesn't get sick, it doesn't know what stress is,
and it gets to "chill out" at the bottom of the sea. That is
true happiness.

"In order to get the handsome prince, you have to kiss a lot of
toads."

This saying is referring to how many times a woman must survive
bad relationships before she finds the right man to be in her
life. She is referring to the men in the bad relationships as
toads and the "one" the handsome prince.

"A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory."

This saying rings very true in that those who have a clear
conscience obviously do not remember the various indiscretions
in their life. In other words, they are deceiving themselves to
think they have nothing to feel guilty about.

"When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane."

This saying in its literal sense makes one think of driving the
wrong way on a one way street or highway. However, in reference
to life, if everything negative is coming at the person at once,
then they are doing something wrong or moving in the wrong
direction.

"Death is hereditary."

There is not a single person who has been immortal. This saying
deals with the morbid fact that everyone dies, therefore it is
considered "hereditary."

"When in doubt, tell the truth."

This saying, coined by Mark Twain, was his sarcastic way of
telling liars who forgot or questioned the contents of their lie
to simply tell the truth.

"Do not try to live forever. You will not succeed."

It is inevitable that we will not live forever, although there
are so many people who hope for it and even do all they can to
live forever. However, death is a part of life and those who try
to conquer it will fail in their attempts.

"To bite off more than one can chew."

This saying refers to taking on a task that is just too big. If
someone decides to climb a mountain and they've never climbed a
mountain before, they have bitten off more than they can chew.

"Beat around the bush."

When beating around the bush, a person is avoiding talking
about something unpleasant, so they don't refer directly to the
subject at hand.

These are some of the most humorous and common English sayings
that many encounter from day-to-day. Being familiar with them
and knowing their meanings can help a person learning English
understand what others are referring to when they use these
sayings in their everyday language. Maybe then they can use the
sayings in their own conversations.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
People involved with real estate investing often wonder which
came first, the deal or the plan. New investors frequently make
the mistake of buying a property before they know what they plan
on doing with it. The dilemma starts here. Investing in this
manner is completely backwards and will force you into a corner.
The correct way of doing things is formulating a proposal
before finding an appropriate house to fit in your scheme.

Planning comes naturally to most people. College education and
retirement are just two examples of the future circumstances
that we plan for. It is only natural for us to plan for real
estate deals as well. A rookie investor may get in over his
head and forget to forge a plan. You have to elect what you
will do in the real estate market. How will you sell the
houses you want to pay for? Having a proposal is very
beneficial.

Overnight success simply does not occur in real estate. People
often envision closing a million dollar deal in order to retire.
The reality of the matter is that real estate investing is a
gradual process for accumulating wealth. Traveling at a slow
pace will gradually help you reach your goal. Although you will
make a decent amount of money, overnight success is not a
realistic goal.

A veteran investor can average between sixty and one hundred
thousand per year with good real estate investments. This
income will occur with a steady forward progress while assuming
that not everything will go as planned. You must remain
practical with your real estate goals.

You cannot do everything alone. There are key people who play
crucial roles for you to succeed at real estate investing. The
smart investor will be assisted by a team of specialists. You
will need a reliable real estate agent who will help you analyze
the properties. In order to make sure the house is worth the
investment you will need an appraiser and a contractor or an
inspector. You positively must have an attorney to make sure
there will be no hidden surprises popping up during the deal.

There is no approach that encompasses all situations you will
encounter in the business. You must prepare a few different
approaches. Sometimes people have to resell a home urgently
after buying it. The housing market can be unpredictable and
change rapidly. If the window for you to make a profit passes
because you can't get your investment completed for the market,
you still have the option of renting. Even this market can
become void or stall. If you are in this position and you have
no choice but to get rid of the property, you could offer a
lease option or perhaps a land contract. If all else fails you
may have to sell to another investor to cut your losses. When
the time comes to bail, a smart investor doesn't hesitate.

A rookie investor doesn't have to make these common mistakes.
He can avoid them by doing a little research and planning.
Don't elect what real estate to invest in until you understand
the business. Purchase one of the many available books and
research some of the approaches used by the pros. Find out
where the free seminars are and learn the proper way to invest.
In order to avoid these common mistakes, you must be sure to
make smart decisions in your real estate investing.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Starting any business can be a long and difficult process.
Having a plan for your cleaning business is an important part of
navigating the difficult waters of the startup process. In this
article I'll give you five simple tips for making your own
startup a success.

1. The first thing you need to do when starting any business is
to decide why you want to start the business. Deciding what
your goals are is the first step in reaching them. If you have
a clear idea of WHY you want to start a cleaning business, you
can plan your business accordingly so that you reach your goal
and end up with the type of business you want. For example,
you might decide that you one of the main reasons for your
business is to give you control of your own schedule, and so
that you can be home during the day with your kids. If this is
the case, you'll want to consider this when you plan your
business as it will affect the type of cleaning business you'll
want to start. Generally speaking, if you want to work during
the day then start a house cleaning business. If you want to
work in the late evenings and be free during the day, start an
office cleaning business. There are many other reasons that
having a clear idea of your goal is important, so be sure to
decide now WHY you want a cleaning business of your own.

2. The second step is to create a business plan. This isn't as
difficult as it sounds, and summarizes great deal of the startup
process so that you can think through the important (and
sometimes forgotten) parts of starting a business. There are a
lot of guides and free resources online to help with this. At
the very least, look up some of these resources and come up with
a simple plan of your own.

3. Step three is to start your marketing efforts. Depending on
the type of cleaning business you plan to start, this could be
anything from passing out fliers to contacting a direct mail
company. You should plan on several months of marketing efforts
at least, and keep this in mind when planning a budget. If you
are low on startup funds then you'll want to use as many
low-cost and no-cost marketing methods as you can, and save the
costly ones (like direct mail) for later if possible. We should
take note that this is the stage at which most people quit.
Don't get discouraged if you don't get your first customer in
the first month or two… just keep working until you get that
first job.

4. Once you get your first customer, the main thing to focus on
is keeping your customer happy and fine-tuning your own work
flow and cleaning process. Keep your marketing efforts going on
the side but make sure you focus on learning how to work in your
own business, and documenting each part of the job.

5. The final step is simply to continue growing your business
based on your experience with the first customer. By now you've
probably adjusted several of your methods and techniques and
will have a better idea of what's needed for any given job. The
whole idea is to get all the kinks worked out with the first
couple of customers, so by the time your business really starts
growing it is running like a "well-oiled machine". This is
also the step at which you would begin to hire additional help
if you are planning on going that route.

These are the bare-minimum, most basic steps needed to start a
cleaning business. If you do each of these steps you'll find
that the whole process, including the details that we didn't
have time to cover here, will go much easier. Whatever you do,
whether you use this outline or your own, make sure to have a
plan and stick to it. Your chances of success will increase
dramatically if you are following a step by step plan.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
What does it take to be considered really "good" when it comes
to online marketing? When do you know you have cracked the nut
of your niche market and can have others call upon you to do
their marketing for them? I have gone through this metamorphosis
myself in the recent years. I stumbled along this journey
somewhat reluctantly but along the way I discovered many
secrets.

New York Dreams Reduced To Dust

After losing my career in 911, New York City, I found myself in
a weird position in life. It appeared that in all my adventures
I had acquired too much experience in the job market. Others
deemed that I was too expensive and too experienced to stay in
it. I had quite a roster of clients on my resume by this stage
of my life. These included Capital Records, Oprah Winfrey, WWF,
Coca Cola, Citibank, Arthur Andersen, and a whole plethora of
dot com companies from Chicago to New York City.

911 had brought on a lot of change in my industry. I had some
other reasons for leaving New York and I made the trek back to
my home state of Michigan. When I got there I had a very strange
welcome. Michigan had a very distinct answer to all of this
great work experience and that message as clear. The job market
gave me the finger and told me to "get lost".

As an Art Director, who worked for many of the top advertising
firms in the industry, I had two choices. I could either take
Michigan's advice and curl up in a ball and die. That is to say
I could still do online marketing on the cheap and become a
commodity with all the charm of your local street beggar or I
could become brilliant. I decided to do the latter because I was
never ever very good at being poor and I was always up for a
great street fight.

Dusting myself off and laughing at the locals I decided to get
as many mentors as I could afford. In fact, I blew a fortune on
these types and I sought them out in the most unlikely places. I
found amazing minds all across the globe and gladly shelled out
thousands to keep them under my employ. I found astounding
copywriters who brought in 4000% response rates. I found online
marketers who were running 35% ROI campaigns with little or no
effort. I had to seek high and low to find the most incredible
minds around the world.

My Mentors Show Up On Time

There is an old saying that says, "When the student is ready –
the teachers will appear" and that is precisely what happened.
Course I had to do a bit of seeking out. In a few short months
this had really paid off nicely. I had acquired the help of such
amazing minds as Dan Kennedy, (Master Marketer and Millionaire
Maker), Corey Rudl and Derek Ghel, (Internet Marketing Center),
Mark Joyner, (New Zealand), Orange Beetle – Alan Forrest Smith,
(London, England UK), Brett McFall, (Australia) and jumped in
the front row seat to local mastermind groups which I actually
found on the Internet.

I went through a lot of books during this time. In fact I was
spending over $100 dollars a week just on business books. That
may not sound like very much to you. But the difference is that
I actually read these books they were not for show and tell. I
absorbed them like a sponge. I read everything I could get my
hands on starting with the classics like, "Think and Grow Rich"
by Napoleon Hill and this lead to modern day classics like, "The
No BS Kick Ass Sales Guide" by Dan Kennedy which totally changed
my life and how I looked at sales. I got all the sales writing
books I could get by Maria Volossos, Bob Bly and John Caples.
These books began to build every week and I had to put them in
boxes. I didn't let the clutter bother me too much as I needed
more and more information to make things happen in my business.

Because the web was changing faster than I could speak I needed
to be well rounded on everything. I got books on digital film
making so I could keep up with the Web 2.0 innovations online. I
needed equipment too so I ran out and got the best HD cameras I
could afford. Along with this came lights, green screens,
tripods and sound gear.

As you can imagine in a few months I had a ton of material. I
actually had a tall industrial kitchen pot rack I purchased
from, "Bath and Beyond" just to hold all of my books. The number
of all these learning materials now numbered somewhere in the
700's. Not only could I speak the language of marketing fluently
I was using the techniques I had acquired to get new sales and
customers.

I wrote my own sales offers and my own sales letters and mailed
them out to clueless CEO's and got work. In fact, I took my
company from zero dollars to $340k on the average. I was amazed
at the differences between the two cultures of Michigan and New
York City and here is what I found.

New York Mindset Vs Michigan's Collapsed Economy

Michigan prides itself on a work ethic where it exchanges time
for money. They view this as "working hard" or "hard working". I
have another view on this where I say it's, "hardly working".
The other thing I can tell you is that Michigan has a lot of
traditional industry. It prides itself on things it can pull out
of the ground and sell to the public. They are resistant to
change and are incredibly stubborn when it comes to emerging
technology.

New York on the other hand embraces technology and a great
amount of businesses there are run on ideas. These are
technology based companies that also move money from one place
to another. They actually work their businesses online and
interact with customer bases right online. This is a very
powerful difference between the two states of economy. Since
they are always moving forward they are able to attract a lot of
international money and stay strong. It has a very powerful and
different dynamic.

Now the question becomes what do I do with all of this? My
company had spiraled out of control in a very good way. You see,
now I was in California, Florida, Michigan, Canada, New York
City, South Carolina, Connecticut in just a few months. I had
actually become an International company in less than a year.
There is a lot of powerful new energies flowing through my
company which is something I never expected. I owe it all to
being diligent and to seeking out mentors.

Tying It All Together

After I built this company from scratch I had a real problem on
my hands. I had all of these books and materials that got me
through a lot of rough times in my life. I still relied on them
and wouldn't dream of throwing them out or selling them. An
opportunity came along where I could share them with the rest of
my Dan Kennedy Coaching Group in Brighton, Michigan.

And today that is where they are – all 700+ of them. They take
up the entire wall in a marketing resource library where they
can be used to inspire and build up another potential budding
entrepreneur. These books are an amazing testimony to what just
one single person can do. With these books I was able to break
down the barricades of corporate America and limited means of
income. I have used theses assets to propel me levels upon
levels of mediocrity and low minded thinking. These tools have
enabled me to build a successful International company within a
very short amount of time, (roughly 18 months).

My advice for anyone looking to become their own boss is to
seek out mentors. It is the quickest way to achieve what you
want out of life. You will need to find people who have already
done the things that you want to do. I have found mentors in
just about every area of my life where I needed help including
financial, copywriting, marketing, online marketing, strategic
business planning and spiritual help and guidance. They are out
there and you can find them under many names including, life
coaching, business coaching, spiritual guides and gurus.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
There's something that happens in every house in the UK every
year. No-one looks forward to it, but at the same time they get
an odd feeling of peace of mind from it.

What is it? It's the process of renewing property insurance.

There are few of us that sit there looking through our diaries,
jumping with glee at the thought of another year's renewal
notice dropping through the letterbox. But it's an essential
insurance to have.

Of course there are two distinctive types of property insurance
that you would normally buy. We take a look at them, why you
would buy them, and how you can benefit from them (we can't make
you pleased to buy insurance, but it's good to know exactly why
you need it!).

First off is the big one: buildings insurance. If you have a
mortgage, your lender will insist that you buy property
insurance that covers the cost of re-building your house in the
event of a large number of calamities affecting it.

These can include explosions, damage from lightning, fire or
smoke damage, trees falling onto the house, and vandalism or
other malicious damage. Cover also normally includes an airplane
landing on the property, or the more likely (if still
statistically unlikely) event of damage caused by something
falling from an aircraft.

Subsidence and flooding is covered, with a large excess if the
property has been affected by these problems before. So will
smaller problems which cause less damage but still cost a small
fortune to repair, such as water damage from a burst pipe, or
the collapse of your TV aerial.

When your mortgage company insists you get buildings insurance,
this is them covering their own back. If they lend you £150,000
secured on a house, and that house falls down, but you don't
have the funds to rebuild it (as you didn't have adequate
property insurance), they will have a loan secured on rubble.

And the chances are you would declare yourself bankrupt rather
than try to pay back a mortgage on nothing as well as buy
another property.

However don't think you must buy property insurance from your
lender. They will often bundle a quote into a mortgage offer,
but you don't have to get it from them. It can be cheaper to buy
cover elsewhere, especially if you use a comparison search
engine on the internet.

This is a good way to keep costs down if you get into property
development (more info at
http://www.propertytoday.co.uk/Get-your-head-round-property-insurance.11018.3700453.story).

The other common type of property insurance is there to protect
your contents. This is optional, but highly advisable for every
single house, even if you are renting from a landlord.

If you did have fire or flood damage in your property (and with
the number of flood warnings out again this week, the chances of
a natural catastrophe affecting houses seems high) you'd be
surprised by the damage done to your possessions.

Even a small fire can wreck an entire house because of the
intensity of the smoke produced. Just a little flood water will
destroy everything it touches, as it is often filthy.

Every householder should invest in adequate contents insurance.
Don't be tempted to skimp on it. You might think you could buy
the entire contents of your house for £50,000, but when you add
up the true cost of replacing every single possession you have
spent years accumulating, the bill could be horrendous.

Walk through your house and make a list of the potential costs
of replacing everything with brand new items. When it comes to
property insurance for your contents, it's always worth over
insuring.

You're standing out in front of your company, letting the
noonday sun shine on your face as your smile stretches from ear
to ear. You finally did it. You made your dream come true. You
are the proud owner of your very own business. Perhaps you were
struck with the idea in the middle of the night several years
ago, and couldn't believe providence had favored you with such a
tremendous plan. Maybe your business is the culmination of
several years of concerted research and advice from others in
the industry. Whatever the case may be, you couldn't be prouder.
Your dream is alive. Unfortunately, no one else knows. Well,
sure your friends and family know about it (though even a few of
them look at you cockeyed whenever you try to explain
your–admittedly different–plan of success). But what about your
potential customers? How will they find out about your baby?

A great way to start to let people know about your business is
to get recommendations and testimonials from respected members
of your community. These people don't need to be famous, even on
a local level. As long as they are established professionals,
their seal of approval can do wonders for your business. As an
example, let's say you are providing counseling services for
underprivileged teens. If you can get a local reverend or a
respected social worker to recommend your service, you've won a
major battle. This will immediately make you legitimate to the
community at large. How you make this recommendation known is up
to you, but you should definitely let people know about it. For
best results, choose the least obnoxious way possible.

If your community has fund raisers and other public events for
charity, consider putting up some money to sponsor either the
event or some of the participants. This can not only get your
business's name out there, but it connects it with a positive
image. It can also be used as a tax write off at the end of the
year. Another thing that's great about sponsoring charity events
is the chance to network with some of the business stalwarts in
your community. And finally, putting up money for several of
these events could put you in line for an award that could earn
you free press overage, which is like advertising you don't have
to pay for. On top of all that, you get to make difference for a
charity that is doing good works in your area.

Above all, the selling of your business will work best when you
can convince a certain segment of he population they can no
longer afford to be without your products. If you can do that–if
you can fill that need–your business will succeed with flying
colors. Certainly you have a vision for your company and you see
why it's needed, but until you can make others see the same
thing, a dream and a vision is all it will ever be. Follow some
of these hints to let everyone in on the secret of your
business.

Article Title: Can You Buy Bunk Beds At A Discount?

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Buying any new piece of furniture can be a nail-biting
experience, but there is a special aura of mystery reserved for
purchasing bunk beds. Buying from a discount bunk bed retailer
is a good idea when you need to save space—and money. In other
words, you don't have to splurge to get a good, solid product.
Regardless of the type of bunk bed you need, we have come up
with some tips to help save you time and money, and more
importantly, the way to find the best quality beds for your
buck.

Is there any better, more efficient way to use the space you
have in your children's room than by using bunk beds? Today's
bunk beds are contemporary, modular, sculptural creations that
take an old unsafe concept (i.e., your father's bunk beds) and
transform the notion into something that is completely aesthetic
and safe for all but the very youngest of children. Safety is,
of course, the primary concern when buying bunk beds; today,
many bunk beds offer safety features to prevent your children
from tumbling from the upper bunk. Specifically, improved safety
ladders and guard rails will offer more peace of mind for
parents.

Bunk beds can be pricey, however. But if you do your homework,
you can save money on your purchase, and still bring home a
safe, quality sleeping area for your children.

It's important to note that regardless of how much money you
have to spend on your children's bunk beds; cost should not be
the deciding factor. It should always be SAFETY first. Sturdy
guardrails and ladders. Snug-fitting mattresses. No sharp
corners or edges. These are things you probably already know,
but it doesn't hurt to reinforce the concepts.

Because of the nature of bunk bed pricing, cheaper bunk beds
typically skimp on important details, like sturdy guard rails
and safety ladders. Sometimes, because this is what kids do, a
child will play on the bunk bed, fall across the rail and break
it. He could be easily injured. Our advice: test the bunk bed
before you buy it. If it feels flimsy to you, don't buy it.

Just like anything else, shopping for the best bargain is an
art, and it takes time. Good bunk beds will not necessarily be
out of reach for you; you just may need to visit several
retailers, and maybe ask if they can match a competitor's price.
You're reading this article, so you already know that the
Internet is a valuable resource for finding out anything you
need to know about anything. eBay and other discount Websites
can steer you to other online retailers.

We hope that you don't lose a good night's sleep over trying to
find the right bunk bed at the right price for you and your
family. Research, research, research! Visit message boards, call
a friend, and even ask a retailer if they know anyone who can
beat their price. Maybe your area has a furniture shop that
specializes in pieces that have slight imperfections; nothing
seriously wrong structurally, but maybe a small scratch that
prevents it from being sold at full price. Read reviews of bunk
beds and talk to other parents who've invested in bunk beds. The
right bunk bed is waiting for you right now.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Lately you may have noticed articles from respected sources
that give hypnosis credit as an aid in alleviating suffering
from many medical conditions; as a way to break destructive
habits; and even as an assist to achieving goals.

Perhaps you have become intrigued by the subject, especially if
you once thought of hypnosis only as entertainment.

If you're like many intelligent people I meet, you're probably
thinking, "Hypnosis sounds interesting, but what can it do for
ME?"

There are many possibilities. Here are five to consider as a
start.

1.Hypnosis can help you move away from habits you'd like to
leave behind. It's a popular therapy for smoking cessation, some
say the best. It involves no drugs, no physical pain, and
usually puts you in a relaxed mood. While no smoking cessation
method works all the time for all people, hypnosis is at the top
of the list for effectiveness with no negative side effects and
with positive, often long-term results.

But smoking is not the only negative habit hypnosis can help
you eliminate or lessen. Overeating, nail-biting, hair twisting
and even falling in love consistently with the wrong people are
habits that can be removed or reduced with hypnosis.

2.Hypnosis can help you acquire healthy, useful habits that
would be productive for your life or work. My clients have used
it to lose weight, work out regularly and more strenuously,
choose healthier foods, and even to enjoy new challenges.

3.Hypnosis can improve your performance in sports, in your
work, in skills like public speaking, and in meeting people—when
networking for business or for social contacts. It can help you
think faster and improve skills. Children can be hypnotized for
improved study and test-taking abilities (as can adults
returning to school in later years!). Adults can become fluid
speakers who shine in meetings and presentations. And better
skilled at driving, communicating and even romance.

Teens can enhance social skills useful in dating as well as
confidence in school subjects, sports, making new friends.

4.Hypnosis can reduce, and sometimes even alleviate, physical
pain. But there's a cautionary note here: Because hypnosis can
be so effective at this, it is crucial that the pain is
discussed with a physician. Wiping out the sensation of pain is
dangerous if the root cause is not diagnosed first. Pain is a
signal that something might be wrong and should be checked.
Always consult your doctor first.

Can hypnosis cure illness? There are some indications that it
can, particularly with certain mild skin conditions that are
caused by—or exacerbated by—emotional distress or nervousness.
In these situations, use hypnosis in partnership with your
doctor's treatment, and always with his/her knowledge.

5.Hypnosis can empower psychotherapy to achieve improved
results in less time.
You may work with a psychotherapist who is also trained in
hypnosis or with two
separate mental-health providers. If you do the latter, sign a
form that allows the two to communicate about your situation,
and you'll get twice the benefit.

We do that in my office, where there are five psychotherapists
and one hypnotherapist—me. For patients who could benefit, my
colleagues suggest seeing me, usually for one, three, or six
sessions. The results have been excellent, especially in
situations involving fears and anxieties that hold people back
from achieving all they could.

For some clients, combining the two approaches eliminates the
need for prolonged therapy.

And because a competent hypnotherapist or hypnotist can teach
you self hypnosis, either in a class or through private
instruction, you can reinforce your gains and improvements on
your own.

Hypnosis may be one of the best "bargains" in complementary
healthcare. For the cost of a few sessions, some problems can be
erased and others reduced considerably; by learning
self-hypnosis, a client or patient has a skill to use with
him/herself that can be used in many situations and throughout a
lifetime. © 2008 by Wendy Lapidus-Saltz. All rights reserved

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Internet savvy entrepreneurs know that the `Net is where the
money is, but many an incredible website that hypes a perfect
work from home opportunity will actually seek to fleece you
rather than get your working at home. The site illustrates the
efficacy of the program being offered by displaying photos of a
happy mom or dad with kids admiringly looking up at the parents.
Even as the actual business opportunity is not discussed but for
the most rudimentary mentions, a trifling investment of a mere
$19.95 supposedly permits you to receive a starter kit that
contains not only the details of the business opportunity but
all the materials needed to get started and thus start your own
home business.

While it sounds too good to be true, it also begs the question
how you can recognize a one in a lifetime opportunity and then
differentiate it from your daily garden variety scam? As you ask
how to start your own business from home while avoiding Internet
scams, you must take a four step approach.

1. If the opportunity were bona fide and truly as profitable as
the website states, why is it advertised via an unsolicited
e-mail campaign? In addition to the foregoing, why is the email
not addressed to you but some odd sounding alias, and why is the
return address not the same as stated on the email itself? In
other words, why have you been spammed? An honest to goodness
home business opportunity is not advertised via unsolicited
email.

2. Avoid the common Internet scam that seeks to persuade you
that skills – which take experts in the field years or even
decades to hone – can be yours via a home study course that
spans little more than one month. By and large the professions
for this home business opportunity are real estate appraiser or
gemologist. The scam behind this promise is the notion that
course material must be purchased and then mastered upon which
you are promised to be offered valid leads in your area. While
it sounds good, the fact that the training course may be as much
as a couple thousand dollars should warn you off!

3. Fad or fiction? As you are surfing the web you come across
the amazing supplements that may cause 30 pounds of weight loss
in one week, grow curly locks on bald pates, or enhance certain
aspects of the male anatomy. As proof you will be regaled with
alleged testimonials and wonderful sounding marketing
information. Even as it sounds like a great multi level
marketing opportunity, you will notice that the company is not
talking about bringing other distributors into the business. By
and large it will be claimed that she or he is only looking for
a limited number of apprentices – a sure tip off that the site
owner is setting up an affiliate network for themselves but will
not see you as a down line recruit but instead little more than
a cash generating sales person who will get a small percentage
of a much larger pie. You will be wise to move on and not sign
up for odd supplements in the first place and only bona fide MLM
opportunities in the second. Do not become someone's underpaid
affiliate in an effort to work from home!

================== ARTICLE START ==================
What do Beyonce, Tyra Banks, Ashanti, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen
Stefani have in common? They all were lace front wigs. Celebrity
lace front wigs are the newest rage in modern hair replacement.
We refer to these hair replacement units as "celebrity" lace
front wigs because so many celebrities wear them. When applied
properly the lace blends into the wig wearer's skin and is
virtually undetectable to the eye even upon close scrutiny. The
lace creates an invisible hairline which gives the appearance
that the hair from the wig is actually growing out of the
wearer's scalp. The result is no one will know that you are
wearing a wig unless you tell them. Lace front wigs are the most
realistic looking wigs on the market. They are constructed with
very thin French or Swiss lace thus the name lace front wig. For
a long time, lace front wigs were only available to the
Hollywood elite, but, the secret is out and these wigs are now
available for purchase by the general public. This means you too
can have gorgeous and glamorous hair just like your favorite
celebrity.

Celebrity lace front wigs can have a cap construction that is
either: 100% lace, monofilament or polyurethane. The 100% lace
cap is the most popular. 100% lace means the entire wig cap is
made of lace. Of the two lace types used in the construction
process the "French" lace is the most popular and most commonly
used. The design of the French lace material is similar to a
"window screen" in which you have very small holes. The wig hair
is then hand tied to this lace mesh strand by strand. It is a
tedious process. Monofilament Wig Caps are the second most
popular wig caps used for making celebrity lace front wigs. The
material of these caps is similar to "women's pantyhose
material" with very tiny holes so close together that it looks
like skin when bonded to skin. Polyurethane Wig Caps also have a
very natural looking front hairline area but tend to hold heat
which can be very uncomfortable in hot climates, as such, these
wigs are not as popular as the French/Swiss Lace and
Monofilament Lace front Wigs.

Celebrity lace front wigs are generally very high quality
expensive wigs. They are extremely safe and when worn correctly
will not damage your hair and hairline the way weaves and
extensions can. These wigs are highly in vogue because of their
naturalism and versatility. They are extremely durable and can
be worn at different occasions and under diverse weather
conditions. Lace front wigs are available in a wide range of
designs, styles, colors, lengths, and sizes and can be
customized to fit your unique head dimensions. Unlike regular
wigs, a lace front wig can be parted in any direction which
means you have endless styling options. You can find a wide
array of custom and celebrity style lace front wigs from shops
that specialize in these hair systems. It may be difficult to
find suppliers of these wigs in your local area unless you live
in or near a large metropolitan area. If that is the case there
are many lace front wig shops online such as
lacefrontwigshop.com that should be able to facilitate your
needs.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
As well as the usual personal New Year resolutions to lose
weight, get fit or whatever, we suggest that you should also
consider making some Legal New Year resolutions which are likely
to be more enduring than most New Year resolutions tend to be.
The 8 suggestions include updating your personal will, property
advice, business agreements and getting up to date with the new
employment laws.

Please find below the top 8 UK Legal New Year resolutions for
2008 suggested by a group of business lawyers based in
Hampshire:

1. Make a will so that you leave your property to those you
choose, rather than a list of relatives that inherit. If you die
with a spouse and there is no will, the spouse does not receive
all the estate in many cases unless you make a will saying so.

2. If you live with a partner, draw up a written agreement
about property and money. A popular myth is that a common law
spouse has legal rights as if the couple were married but that
is not so under existing law. However, plans to change the law
to give new rights to cohabitants may cause some to reconsider
moving in with a partner. Consult us on the impact of the
proposed changes.

3. Consider whether properties you own with others should be
held in joint names (which means if you die they receive your
share) or as "tenants in common" which means you can leave your
share to whomsoever you choose.

4. If you work with a partner, whether in a partnership or
through a limited company, draw up a partnership agreement or
shareholders agreement dealing with matters such as how much
effort both parties put into the business, what profit shares
are taken, what happens if one of you is ill or dies or wants to
leave and what will happen if an offer for the company is made.

5. If you trade in business, draw up some standard conditions
of sale and purchase and formalise any informal distribution,
agency and licensing agreements so that everything is clear.
This reduces legal costs if a dispute arises later, as the
written terms protect you. If you have existing standard terms,
have them checked to ensure they reflect the latest legal
position.

6. Check your business' compliance with recent changes in areas
such as data protection and employment law, competition law and
intellectual property. An annual legal compliance health check
is well worth undertaking.

7. Check that all staff are properly putting into force legal
instructions e.g. some Purchasing Department staff do not reject
suppliers' standard terms of trading and fail to send back the
buyer's terms. Regular training for this kind of staff can be
provided by lawyers and others.

8. Deal with legal disputes quickly and early to ensure they
are resolved without the need to go to court, which is risky and
expensive. Consider mediation of disputes rather than formal
arbitration or court action and always balance risks and
possible legal costs against potential rewards.

I sincerely hope that you have a happy and prosperous New Year
and that you are able to take the time to implement at least
some of the top 8 UK Legal New Year resolutions outlined above.
It's an old adage but it still rings true that we fail to plan
rather than plan to fail.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
There is a tendency to despise the telemarketer, and with good
reason, we all know what it's like to receive those annoying
cold calls when you're bang in the middle of your favorite soap;
having dinner; very early in the morning; or when you're busy at
the office. Unsolicited calls suck. There's no doubt about it,
but I'm going to show how telemarketing skills can turn around
your business to give you an unfair advantage over your
competition over the telephone.

Having worked in telesales myself, I know exactly what it's
like to be at the other end of the phone where people yell at
you, take the mickey, and not forgetting... hang up on you. It
is tough work. Part of your telesales training is to condition
you to not take rejection personally (which is great for the
home-business entrepreneur). They teach you to dust yourself
off, pick up the phone and make your next call. Often criticized
for being unethical due to high-pressure sales techniques used
by telemarketers, the positive side to being exposed to this
industry is the training you receive that will coach you to
manipulate people and situations over the phone. It may sound
cold and ruthless, but I find this part of telesales training,
particularly, critical in teaching you the techniques that can
get you closer to closing a deal even when your prospect has
told you they weren't interested. On countless occasions I have
witnessed an outright no turning into a yes just by handing over
the phone to my supervisor at the sales floor. That by itself
illustrates just how easily human beings can be manipulated (not
that I'm not encouraging you to become a control freak!). It all
boils down to the voice, the attitude and the ability to subtly
having your way with people. I was amazed! But that training was
a great help to me. I already had a great voice -- which is a
great asset in this business -- but telesales training did help
me discover the power within that voice that I never knew I had.
And although I don't apply cold calling to my home business,
what I learned in telesales is applied to great effect when I
speak to my network marketing team members, prospects and
business associates across the board.

Before I recommend something you never imagined I would dare
do, I'll give you a couple of handy tips on how with just a tiny
adjustment to your voice and attitude when you grab that phone,
you can easily turn those sales calls into cash.

Your attitude comes across over the phone. The people you're
calling can't see you, but they can sense what mood you're in or
the level of confidence in you with that call. So: raise your
voice and wear a smile whenever you're on a call... and stand
up. Sitting down slows you down. Standing up gives your voice
more power as it better extends your vocal range. Look at it
this way: A singer doesn't belt out a high octave number sitting
down (not unless they're miming). And there is a very good
reason why. One word. Power.

And now for what I said I was going to recommend you do that
you would've never imagined I would dare do: get a telesales
job! You heard that right. Because the staff turnover rate in
this line of work is unbelievably high (well, you can imagine
why), there are always telesales jobs being advertised in the
newspapers in most major cities. In most cases (perhaps 99.99%
of the time), they really don't care what you look like (coz
nobody is going to ever see you), and they don't care what your
educational background is. All they need is a good voice that
sounds great over the phone. If you posses that quality alone,
you're in. Now one very important tip: when you make that call
to apply for the job, bear this in mind ... that that call is in
fact your interview. So you'd better make sure you speak loud
and clearly so that you sound good and confident the other end.
If you don't qualify over the phone, you won't be called in for
a one-on-one interview. So do make sure you do this properly.

Why work in telesales?

Because it is the best place I know of that provides the best
training there is to market goods and services over the
telephone. Nothing else out there even comes close. Working on a
real telesales floor (even for just a few weeks) would be the
perfect environment for you should you wish to acquire the
skills that will show you how and why telesales training can
grow your home business.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Production of the Audi TT started in 1999, and the car was only
known internally within Audi by the name "Typ 8N", but it later
became known as the First Generation TT, as a second, improved
model of the car was produced and developed from 2006 to
present. The TT name came from the famous "NSU TT" small rear
engine of the 1960's, and does not mean "Twin Turbo" for the
record. The Audi TT was the first presented in a concept car
design at the 1995 Frankfurt Motor Show but it was then decided
that it should be established within the coupe class in 1998. J
Mays and Freeman Thomas originally designed the car, both of
Volkswagen's California design workshop, with Martin Smith
designing the bold and innovative interior. And it originated in
the class of the 2 door roadster, and the 2 door luxury
sportscar, with either a front wheel drive or four wheel drive,
and a front positioned engine.

The first thing people noticed about the car was that it
obtained a couple of design patterns from earlier vehicles, the
complete appearance was thought to be definite and unique. The
design appeal of the First Generation TT consisted of a its
smooth-curved body, rounded bodywork, the distinctive use bare
"anodized aluminum", and no definite show of bumpers, the car
was light-years away from the current styling trends that
beseeched the market at that time. Despite all of the car's
curvaceous outlines, it does not improve the aerodynamics of the
vehicle; in fact the "drag coefficient" is actually very high at
0.35. A small number of changes were performed to the TT
apperance wise, so it didn't vary much from the showcased
concept car, except the addition of finely re-profiled bumpers,
and "back quarter-light windows located behind the doors".

The Audi TT foundations were based intensely on the "Volkswagen
A4 platform", which came from the "A platform", which was also
used in the Volkswagen New Beetle, Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf/
Rabbit, SEAT Leon, and the Skoda Octavia. The proportional
blueprint of the TT is made up of a width of 1764mm (69.4in); a
length of 4041mm (159.1in); wheel-base of 2422mm (95.4in); and a
height of 1346mm (53in). The car also possessed a fuel capacity
of 55 litres (14.5 US gal/12.1 imp gal).

The car was initially obtainable with an engine with capacity
of "1.8 litre Turbo I4" which consists of a "Turbo-charged
inline four cylinder, 20 valve" motor that overturned either
"180PS (178hp or 132kW) or 225PS (222hp or 165kW)". The 225PS
engine owns a bigger turbo-charger, an extra intercooler located
on the driver's side, fabricated connecting rods, and other
mechanically internal modifications, all proposed to increase
turbo boost from about 10 psi to peak at 15 psi. In 2003, the
original layout of the four cylinder range was given a boost
with the 3.2 litre VR6 engine, which outputs 250PS (247hp or
184kW). The First Generation TT engines were mounted crosswise,
with optional front or "quattro" all wheel drive with the
smaller engine, but came standard in the 3.2 litre version. The
TT transmission came with 4 different formats; a 5 speed manual;
a 6 speed manual; a 6 speed automatic; and the later enhanced 6
speed DSG.

In late 1999, early 2000 the First Generation TT had its load
of problems because eyebrows raised as questions grew about the
car's poor handling as the tally of fatal accidents piled up.
The car was deemed unstable when cornering at high speeds, due
to "throttle lift-off oversteering". It was imperative that Audi
rectify the situation as quickly as possible by altering the
problem by changing the suspension settings to increase
under-steer, and adding a rear wing spoiler to lower lift. These
changes helped the problem, and gave the car back its
reputation.

Sales-wise the First Gen was a huge success, both in commercial
and private markets, as the car reached a public, which had not
been considered beforehand. The customers that filled the market
were mostly, young people and women in particular that bought
Audi TTs. There was even a long waiting list for it both in the
US and the UK, where it was something of a fashion item. The car
was distinguished for it elegant flair and improved offering, as
the acclaim were stacked on it as the car was highlighted in the
sought after "Car and Driver" magazine's distinguished "Ten Best
List" for both 2000 and 2001. In addition, it was also nominated
for the "North American Car of the Year".

Interior Design Retro Style
You've made the decision to completely revamp your home and
you've decided you'd like it to be in Retro style but just
how do you go about incorporating that into your home.
First of all it might help to have an understanding of what
a Retro design style actually is.

What is Retro?

The post war fifties and psychedelic sixties saw a move
towards more brighter and bolder colours most likely as a
backlash to doom and gloom of the war torn forties.
Basically, Retro style of interior design can be described
as taking a little bit of the past few decades into the
present in order to create a new style of interior design
that is both modern and fun. As there is so much material
to choose from, what you decide to include will ultimately
be your own interpretation of the past, so entirely unique.

During each of the past three decades there have been
different materials, shapes, colours, artefacts, and
gadgets that have left a lasting impression on all of us.
These days, anything from the 50's, 60's or even the 70's
is fashionable again. However, because there are so many
different ways to go about incorporating a Retro style into
your home, it can be difficult to know where to start.
There isn't a standard look that can be described as Retro
and yet everyone is able to recognise it when they see it.

Where to start

The first step would be to browse through magazines and
search on the Internet, visit show rooms and exhibitions
for the colour schemes, furniture, layouts etc. that appeal
to you. Ask yourself what artefacts have been used, how the
furniture is laid out, what it is made of, look at the
lighting and any effect it creates, take note of the colour
schemes, the ornamental touches and don't forget the wall
and floor coverings. From there you can literally mix and
match elements that appeal to your own taste to produce a
retro style that reflects your own identity with the past.

Getting the look

After the war new materials were being produced that led to
a dramatic change in styles during the fifties and sixties,
for example, Formica, plastic, fibreglass and plywood were
introduced. The mood of the people was buoyant, and the
future looked bright, consequently so were the colour
schemes. For example:

* Turquoise
* Jade
* Mint green
* Pink
* Sunshine yellow
* Cherry red
* Blue
* Black and White

Highly polished chrome was very popular and used for
furniture or for ornamental purposes. The furniture was
often abstract in style with weird and wonderful shapes.
Think of low lying round or oval or kidney shaped coffee
tables, or anything in a curvy boomerang type shape. Teak
and Pine were popular materials. Blow up furniture was
introduced along with disposable materials like cardboard
so no longer did furniture have to last for years; it was
possible to change the look of your home as often as you
felt the urge.

Who could possibly forget GPlan furniture that was all the
rage and that revolutionised home interiors? For the first
time, people could develop a coordinated look to their home
over a period of time and mix and match pieces to create
their own style.

Imagine black and white chequered linoleum offset against
chrome furniture and black vinyl coverings. What about the
wet look wall paper and bold floral patterns? Or even the
bright and bold red and black contrasting colour schemes.

Geometric patterns and shapes were ever popular and as the
space age was well and truly upon us during the fifties and
sixties wall hangings, shapes, pictures, lamps, ornaments
or anything that was reminiscent of space was well and
truly in. For example, rockets, the planets, satellites,
and space ships were very trendy and atomic wall clocks
were a feature in the most fashionable of homes.

Finally

Visit antique shops or search on eBay to pick up vintage
ornaments and objects in order to complete the vintage
Retro look. There aren't any hard and fast rules about what
you should or shouldn't include and that is what makes the
Retro style so excitingly different. Don't be afraid to be
bold with your design ideas, as long as it looks good to
you and feels right then you can't really go wrong.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
At our website, we get a lot of questions from customers who
want to learn how to properly care for their electronics in
order to extend their lifespan and maintain the quality of their
performance. So I thought I'd take a few minutes to pass along
some tips.

It probably shouldn't need to be said, but considering the
number of people who do absolutely nothing in the area of caring
for their possessions, I'll point out the obvious anyway: It's a
good idea to take care of your electronics. There I said it.
Even if you already have a manufacturer's warranty and an
extended warranty in place, it's still a good idea. The warranty
will cover you if the item breaks down, and of course anything
can break down, but wouldn't you like to minimize the chances of
that happening if you could?

OK, so hopefully you understand the importance of proper
maintenance. Now, maybe you're wondering how to do it. Well
below is a list to get you started.

First of all, keep them clear of dust. Dust is one of the great
killers of electronics. It gets inside the casing, attaches
itself to wires, motherboards and pretty much anything that
produces an electric pulse, then it fries them. Keep dust away.
There are right ways and wrong ways to clean off dust.

Dusting/Cleaning:

1. Use a damp, lint-free cloth and either water or a mild
cleaning agent. Don't use any harsh cleaning solvents because
they can do a lot of harm, especially to your expensive LCD or
plasma television screen.

2. In order to clean your plasma or LCD screen use a special
cleaner and anti-static cloth designed specifically for those
screens (which you can find at most electronics retailers).
Don't use regular glass cleaners.

3. Gently. Don't apply too much pressure or you might damage
your component, especially fragile TV screens.

4. Spray the cleaning solution onto the cloth first and then
wipe. Never spray it directly onto the item you're cleaning.
Electronics and liquids don't mix.

5. If you do spill liquid onto anything electronic, unplug it
immediately and have it looked at by a qualified professional
before you plug it back in.

6. Never use a vacuum to pick up dust. Vacuums create static
and can severely damage your electronics.

7. Get yourself a can of compressed air. They work great for
safely removing dust from your gadgets.

Your electronics are also very vulnerable to their environment.
Make sure that you store or display them properly. Here are some
storage tips.

Storage/Display:

1. Do not keep you electronics in an enclosed space. They
create a lot of heat when they are on, and they need proper
ventilation to keep from overheating.

2. Do not stack them directly on top of each other. You may
notice that many of your components have holes on the top and
back of their casings. Those holes provide ventilation for the
parts inside. If the ventilation holes are covered, the
component can overheat and break down.

3. Keep them out of direct sunlight. Once again, they can
overheat.

4. Keep them away from radiators or any other heaters.

5. Keep them away from damp or humid places. Get yourself a
dehumidifier if you need to.

Almost any user's manual that you have will include directions
for care of that specific item. Be sure to look through your
manuals to see if there are any special instructions that you
need to know about.

Well, there you go. While I don't consider this an exhaustive
list of everything you can do to care for your electronics, it
is a good review of the basics, and a good checklist for you to
follow.

If you follow the advice listed above, then most of your
electronics should stay healthy for a long time.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
The daily problem everybody facing today is the sky rocketing
fuel price. But anybody driving their own vehicle cannot avoid
it. So it has become a task for each and everyone of us to find
out a way to increase or improve our auto gas mileage so that we
can save some money on fuel. If you research you will be amazed
to find so many different ways to improve auto gas mileage.

Hydrogen boost mileage system is a gas mileage enhancement
system that has been developed from a hydrogen gas generator.
Hydrogen with other electrolyzed gases accelerates the flame
spread during combustion. This process brings fuel to a
temperature that allows more injected fuel to vaporize and
thereby prepares it for further combustion. Reports claim that
this system will improve your gas mileage up to 30 %.

Magnetic type fuel saver will help you to save nearly 25 % of
your fuel cost and at the same time improve gas mileage as well.
It will also improve the performance of the vehicle. Fuel
combustion is done efficiently in many vehicles. This is the
reason why we smell petrol or see black fumes from our exhaust
pipes. The money we spent on fuel gets wasted due to this.
However we have a solution now in the form of the Fuel saver
that eliminates the problem of petrol wastage. It breaks down
the hard HC molecules and thus offers better combustion. Better
auto gas mileage can be achieved by using the Magnetic fuel
saver.

Energycel is an amazing product consisting of magnets. It forms
a fairly strong magnetic field around the fuel line in your
vehicle. This magnetic field will help to pass the gas to the
combustion chamber of the engine and thereby improve mileage. It
is an eco-friendly product that also clears up the air.

Petromoly is another way to improve auto gas mileage. It is a
lubricating engine oil treatment to the vehicle with Molybdenum
Disulfide. It not only improves gas mileage but also avoids
premature wear and tear of the engine. It has been claimed that
Petromoly will improve the gas mileage of a vehicle up to 50 %.

Turbonator is a fuel saver product which is made up of
stainless steel. Therefore it is free from any maintenance work.
You can easily install it in your vehicle with the screw driver.
The turbonator can be installed in the air cleaner or in the air
in-take hose depending up on the type of your vehicle. Its
dynamic air in flow design helps to improve the air in-take of
the vehicle. The users of this product have reasons to claim
that it is bound to improve the gas mileage of your vehicle from
10 to 22 %.

Rough driving like speeding or rash driving like stepping on
the accelerator and break pedal so hard results in wasting fuel
and that causes the decrease in mileage. Smooth and sensible
driving improves the auto gas mileage. Usage of overdrive gears
help saves fuel and reduces the wear and tear of the engine. You
can improve your auto gas mileage by using cruise control while
driving on highways.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
The debate between gravity fed and agitated hoppers rages on as
paintballers everywhere try to decide which choice will provide
them with the best possible results. Here are a few key points
for each style and how they compare head to head.

Gravity-Fed

A gravity fed hopper is essentially a container with paintballs
in it. It sits casually on top of your gun and feeds those
paintballs one at a time into the gun – or at least they are
supposed to. These are generally the cheapest hopper options
available and have a low rate of loading due to the speed of
gravity and the bouncing of the paintballs off of each other. If
you are firing too quickly, the balls in the hopper will stick
to each other and form an arch over the hole, stopping the feed
of paintballs. You can shake the hopper to fix the problem, but
it will generally slow your rate. The basic problems with
gravity fed hoppers are the reason why an agitated hopper was
developed.

Agitated

These hoppers contain a motor that connects to a paddle
spinning and breaking up the arches that form when the
paintballs gather over the feed hole. This ensures the
paintballs keep feeding into the gun at a steady pace, pushing
through the hole and not slowing down your shots.

The speed difference between from a gravity operated to
agitated hopper is actually non-existent. However, because there
is no break in the feed of paintballs, you do not need to stop
and shake them free for any reason. They will continually feed.
Agitated hoppers are slightly more expensive than their gravity
fed counterparts – starting at $25 and rising rapidly from
there.

The agitated hopper comes in multiple different forms as well.
You can find some with very simple, straight paddles that push
the paintballs through the feed hole. Others will have paddles
that are shaped like propellers to physically move the
paintballs downward into the gun. They will not spin constantly
most of the time; rather they move only when the balls stop
feeding into the gun, making them more efficient. This is done
with a small sensor that will detect a gap between paintballs
feeding through. If the gap grows too large, the paddles will
start spinning. A single 9-volt battery is usually sufficient to
run an agitated feeder.

Force Fed

A force fed hopper does a little bit more than an agitated
hopper by actually forcing the paintballs into the chamber from
the hopper. It will usually have the paintballs fall to either
side of a cone, then rotate the cone to drop the paintballs into
the chamber one at a time. This kind of hopper will continually
force feed paintballs for as long as necessary to keep you
firing at a constant rate. These machines are highly efficient
and reliable, but can cost as much as $100 for a low end model.

When making a choice between hoppers, remember what you need
for your outing. If you are playing speedball, you will
definitely need at least an agitated feeder to ensure constant
firing – while woodsball with a few beginner friends will likely
be okay with a gravity fed hopper.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Having the Right Business Plan saves time, money, and perhaps
your organization

When your business is starting up, you are busier than a
one-armed paperhanger. You do many tasks yourself, you make-do
with limited equipment and office space; you may have to
short-change development or testing because of costs, and you
often try to substitute effort for money - exhausting yourself
and your employees. You know that your business would be more
viable if you had capital to underwrite your small business
start up costs and let you focus on making your vision a
reality. But, getting capital from a bank, a venture capitalist,
a granting institution or government organization requires that
you have a sound, well-written business plan. You have to
prepare a business plan that convinces skeptical lenders and
investors that your start-up business can succeed.

For the majority of start-up businesses, a formal business plan
is the price of admission to capital markets. A good and
believable business plan is the vehicle to successfully gain
funding for start-up, for expansion, and for new products. If
you do not need additional capital – an unlikely scenario for a
start-up business; as a leader and manager, you should want a
business plan to organize your success strategy, guide your
operations, measure your accomplishments against your
expectations, and share your vision with employees. It is not
just investors who feel more secure if they believe the
organization will succeed.

Key questions to be answered by your business plan

1. What does your organization expect to accomplish in the next
three to seven years
2. In qualitative and quantitative terms, why do you believe in
the marketability of your product or service
3. What are your organization's qualifications that justify the
belief that you can accomplish your objectives
4. How will the money you are requesting be used to help
accomplish your objectives and reach your goals
5. Using a multi-year, quarterly projection, how to you see the
money you receive generating a return for investors or the
organization. (It is essential that your financial projections
be based on real data and believable extrapolation based on
market and competitor analysis and costs).

What are necessary components of an effective business plan?

1. An attractive cover page with your company's logo, location,
contact information, and title

2. An executive summary that includes current status, products
or services, market, financial forecast, over-all objectives,
how much money is required, return on investment schedule. This
portion of your business plan should be no more than two pages.

3. Table of contents that gives your reviewers a clear roadmap
to the contents of the remainder of the document.

4. Detail on the company or organization, its objectives and
management team

5. Projected market and your expected market share based on
real data

6. Analysis of your products, discriminators and competition

7. Your marketing/selling strategy – how will you gain sales,
customers, market share

8. Financial data - income, cost of sales (material, labor,
overhead), operating expenses, assets (including equipment and
intellectual property), cash flow forecast, and liabilities.

The final essential step for a start up business preparing its
business plan is to proof the document for grammar and typos,
check for readability, and clarity. Then package your business
plan in a folder or as spiral bound document for presentation.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Until 2001, I spent my career as a research meteorologist,
delving into areas as diverse as cloud physics and weather
modification, numerical weather prediction, and artificial
intelligence. Over a span of more than thirty years, I'd written
numerous technical articles. But nearly seven years ago, I
retired from my job with the Naval Research Laboratory.

Why did I retire? At the time, I was doing some of the most
fascinating research I'd ever done. However, I knew that unless
I quit then, I'd miss a dream I'd been harboring for decades:
that of writing fiction. (At my retirement luncheon, several
colleagues jokingly suggested I needn't have retired to claim
that distinction.)

For years prior, in association with author/mentor Arline
Chase, I'd written short stories to learn storytelling skills.
It's one thing to write a story, but quite another to write one
that is enthralling and keeps the reader riveted. Regrettably,
most of what we write in technical journals - although less so
for the Bulletin - is hardly stay-up-all-night-turning-the-page
material. Another way to put it is that fiction has to be fun,
at least for the genre of fiction that I chose for my first
novel.

After retiring, I spent another year writing short stories
exclusively. But in 2002, I tackled a novel. Those of you who
read fiction know there are various genres. During my short
story period, I tried many of them: humor, fantasy, young adult,
romance, mystery, and thriller. I concluded that I had the most
success and fun writing thrillers. What is a thriller? Here's a
good definition: A novel of suspense with a plot structure that
reinforces the elements of gamesmanship and the chase, with a
sense of the hunt being paramount. The common thread is a
growing sense of threat and the excitement of pursuit. Those of
you who enjoy books by Tom Clancy know that he writes thrillers.

So, with genre in hand, I had to choose my topic. In fiction, a
common saw is to write what you know. What did I know?
Meteorology. And so, for months, with coconspirator Robin Brody
(a meteorologist who continues to be my primary reader), we
debated ideas worthy of a thriller, together with a plausible
premise. After months of discussion, we had the makings of a
story.

As the author, I had one nonnegotiable requirement: Enough of
James Bond-like spies - I wanted the protagonist to be a
meteorologist. If the world had to be saved (and it often does
in a thriller), I wanted our discipline to be up there - in
lights. Why choose a meteorologist? The choice is obvious. The
qualities that manifest our ranks are many: intelligence,
attention to detail, the ability to integrate and make sense of
disparate sets of data, training in both theoretical and
numerical processes, and a thorough appreciation of science in
general. One other important quality is our ability to accept
frequent failure, and criticism; who among us who has made a
forecast wouldn't agree? What more could you want from a
protagonist who must decipher complex clues and save the world
in the process?

Of course, I gave my protagonist, Dr. Victor Mark Silverstein,
a few added gifts: I gave him a photographic memory (I've always
wanted one of those) and a genius IQ (something I could have
used). The most fascinating characters are not perfect, however.
They become interesting and more human because of their faults.
Silverstein is arrogant because he knows he's smart, and he
often uses his talents to manipulate people. As you might
suspect, this combination can get him into trouble. There to
save him is his associate, Dr. Linda Kipling, also a
meteorologist, who possesses complementary skills - and is
fearless.

Fiction is either "plot driven" or "character driven." The best
books are both. I tried for a balance. You can imagine that
meteorology shows up in the plot, whereas human interactions
(often involving moral/ethical dilemmas) provide the
character-driven aspect.

Two-and-a-half years later, I completed Category 5 (iUniverse,
2005). Obviously, the plot concerns hurricanes. I won't give
away the premise; suffice it to say, the bad guys are doing bad
things with hurricanes, and it's up to the good guys to stop
them.

As an aside, I've concluded that it is impossible to publish a
book with no errors. Readers have spotted a few. I'm proud to
say, however, that not one of them (yet) has been
meteorological. I can't take the credit. Robin Brody and several
other meteorologist reviewers saved me from embarrassment.
(Note, however, my fortuitous forecast for 2007's Hurricane
Noel, for which my book's east coast track is close to the
observed, including "…threading the needle between Cuba and
Haiti…")

To make my story more realistic, I visited all chapter
locations except for two remote sites (Christmas Island and the
Suez Canal) and the CIA. For example, at the end of Category 5,
considerable commotion breaks lose in Bermuda. My wife Becky and
I spent a week there scouting appropriate sites (someone had to
do it) and taking their GPS coordinates (they're listed at the
beginning of chapters). If you use Google Earth (or go to my Web
site, where I've summarized the images), you'll see where I
imagined the action occurred. Enter the coordinates for chapter
6 (32°22′02″N, 64°40′39″W), and you'll
find yourself at the Bermuda Weather Service (where the staff
was most helpful). Do the same for chapter 3
(41°01′03″N, 28°58′17"E), and you'll be
looking at the approximate location for the Pandeli Restaurant,
located in the Spice Market in Istanbul, Turkey. My wife and I
had a nice lunch there. In other instances, I "construct" a
building in a location I've scouted. The chapter 8 coordinates
(32°18′20″N, 64°47′20″W) in Bermuda
identify the concrete fortress where the final showdown occurs.

Following Category 5, I wrote a sequel called Prophecy
(iUniverse, 2007), published in July. Although this time the
problem facing the world is not meteorological, I chose to keep
my meteorologist protagonists. The skills that make us what we
are transfer easily to other areas of science - in this case
genetics, DNA, and the genome.

However, I must say I feel guilty about deviating from
meteorology, and have decided to make amends with the third book
in the series. Because it seems to be the meteorological topic
of this decade, I've decided to tackle global climate change.
Robin and I have developed a premise worthy (we think) of a
complex thriller. And, if a fictional character is going to be
doing the heavy lifting in resolving a climate crisis, I'm going
to make darn sure that he or she is a meteorologist. We deserve
the recognition!

From Chapter V:

Barbara: Hazel, in talking about new technologies, how would
you evaluate the next generation of technologies that would
include such things as the satellite for education over India,
which is producing on a miniaturized basis an enormous amount of
information, and then the weather-monitoring satellites, and so
forth?

Hazel: Well, I don't want to say a total no to all of these
things, but I am suggesting that we no longer have the wisdom to
use all of those sorts of things.

Barbara: We no longer have—?

Hazel: Or we've lost it, to use Jean's kind of imagery. For
example, I read a report on that Indian educational satellite
system; you know what has happened to that, don't you?

Barbara: No.

Hazel: Well, it's become purely a propaganda tool; it's
absolutely nothing but thought control. It's a totalitarian
state going into every village. And the fascinating thing is
that they have found that if you go to some of these little
Indian villages, the television sets are on all the time. They
fiddle with the channels to snow up the screen, and it creates
light! They don't have electric light by which to see in the
evenings, so they can then sit around and talk by the light of
the flashing television set! It's wonderful! [laughter] You see,
we don't have the wisdom to use all of that stuff. We're still
children playing around in Pandora's box. That is not the growth
point.

Barbara: Well, we certainly can't stay at this level of
technology, which might, as you say, be destructive. But it's
just an early form. I believe that technology is natural. There
is a technological aspect to everything on the material plane.
And there is an evolving continuum of technologies throughout
the evolutionary transcendence — tools that will produce a
quantum leap — as the genetic code technology produced a quantum
leap from the large molecules.

Technologies like astronautics, cybernetics, genetics, and so
on, will make it possible for humans to transcend the mammalian
condition physically—brutalizing work, certain kinds of disease,
planet-boundness. We are at an early phase of human
technological development, but not of technology itself. That
has been going on since the origin of the physical universe. I
believe that as we begin to understand synergy and whole systems
both on Earth and in space our technologies will improve
enormously. They will be ephemeralized, as Bucky Fuller says —
more biological than mechanical.

Hazel: Yes, of course, I didn't mean to make a blanket
statement. There are many technologies that are already
appropriate — tape recorders are a very appropriate sort of
technology; they're individual; they allow personal control. A
typewriter is a very appropriate technology, a sewing machine,
power tools . . .

Jean: But here we have to ask: Appropriate to what? If we begin
to define the emerging image of what it means to be human, and
the larger notion of life and its capacities, then you begin to
discover those technologies that are appropriate.

Hazel: Well, what I mean, I think, is those technologies that
are appropriate to our level of wisdom.

Jean: Yes! But if you can extend that level of wisdom—

Hazel: Then you can do all of these other things.

Jean: Not necessarily.

Hazel: You may not want to!

Jean: You may not want to; you may have a totally different
kind of technology.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
When I was a child, my grandfather visited my family every
weekend. I dearly loved Poppa, and I vibrated with excitement
and joy as soon as I saw him approaching the front door. I could
feel the energy in my heart jumping out to meet the energy of
his.

Even as a child, I recognized that my heart's powerful energy
extended beyond my body. Today, science confirms this.

The Institute of HeartMath, a world leader in research-based
transformational technology, has found that our hearts generate
an electromagnetic field around us that is several feet in
diameter and five thousand times greater than the field
generated by the brain — five thousand times!

HeartMath researchers have also found that peoples' heart
patterns look different when they're happy than when they're
angry, frustrated, or sad.

Negative emotions cause erratic patterns called 'heart rhythm
incoherence' which have damaging effects on your body. When
you're feeling angry or sad, stress hormones and cholesterol are
released into your body, your heart pumps faster, and your blood
pressure rises.

In contrast, when you're feeling appreciative and loving, you
create 'heart rhythm coherence' - smooth, even patterns in your
heart's rhythms. These feelings of happiness increase the
production of anti-aging hormones, normalize blood pressure,
improve cognitive function, and strengthen the immune system.
Sounds pretty good, doesn't it?

What's most exciting is that HeartMath discovered that you can
create more coherence in your heart rhythms at will simply by
focusing on emotions such as appreciation, love, and gratitude.

And this is one of the secrets that happy people know: No
matter what's going on in life, they let love lead. During the
research for my book, Happy for No Reason, I interviewed 100
unconditionally happy people — I call them the "Happy 100." It
was clear that one of the ways they let love lead is through
gratitude. Though they have the same kinds of fears, pains, and
disappointments as you and me, people who are Happy for No
Reason simply focus more on gratitude throughout their day. You
too can use the power of gratitude to raise your level of
happiness. It's a matter of where you focus your attention.

Where do you focus your attention?

One of my Happy 100, Brother David Steindl-Rast, a Benedictine
monk in his eighties and founder of the Network for Grateful
Living, is one of the happiest people I've ever met. Brother
David shared with me a gratefulness practice he's done every day
for over 30 years.

Each day he selects a different theme to remind him about
gratitude. For example, one day he'll choose to focus on water,
so every time he encounters water - washing his hands, watering
the plants or brushing his teeth - he uses it as a reminder to
be present in the moment with pure gratefulness. This exercise
requires no extra time or physical energy — it's simply a shift
in his awareness that allows a continual flow of appreciation,
love, and gratitude.

Try it for yourself. Choose your theme for today – it could be
leaves, the sound of traffic or the telephone. For the rest of
your day, whenever you encounter your chosen theme, let it be a
cue to consciously feel gratefulness.

When you focus your awareness every day to experience what
Brother David calls "great fullness" in every moment, you'll
significantly raise your baseline level of happiness.

This is one of the many Happiness Habits I learned from the
Happy 100. I'll be sharing more of these with you in future
ezines. In the meantime, let's all keep practicing happiness. .
.

Happily,

Marci

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Credit card blocking occurs when a business places a hold on
your credit card for a reservation such as a hotel or rental
car. When you use your credit card at registration, the clerk
will contact your credit card company and provide your credit
card company with an estimated total of your bill. If the
transaction is approved, that amount is held in reserve. In
addition to the actual cost of the hotel room, the clerk may add
on reasonable "incidental" costs for items such as food or
gasoline. Using credit card blocking means that the company can
be assured that your bill will be paid.

If you pay the bill with the same credit card used when you
checked in or returned the car, the purchase will replace the
block usually in 1 or 2 days. However, if you pay using a
different credit card or with cash the block may be held for up
to 15 days after you've checked out. This happens because your
credit card company was not notified that you used another form
of payment and assumed they had to continue to hold that amount
in reserve on your credit card.

Here are seven methods you can employ to protect yourself
against credit card blocking:

1. Pay for a hotel or rental car with the same card you used at
check-in.

2. Ask the merchant the amount that will be blocked, how they
determined the amount blocked and the time period the block will
be held.

3. Use two credit cards, one to make a reservation and one to
pay the final bill.

4. Pay with cash.

5. If you pay using another method, ask the clerk to call the
credit company and have the block removed. Get the clerk's name
and ask for proof that the block was removed if possible. Also
contact your credit card company to ensure the block was
removed.

6. Pay for hotel reservations in full prior to check-in so that
a block is not placed on your credit card. However, if a block
is placed after arrival it will only be for a small amount to
cover incidentals.

7. Complain to your state Congressman regarding credit card
blocking.

Credit card blocking is not illegal as long as the amount
blocked isn't above what the customer is likely to pay at the
end of the transaction. If your balance is near the credit
limit, it may be an inconvenience by tying up credit that you
may need, or it can cause a denied transaction for an item that
is purchased after the block is placed. Most consumers are not
aware that it happens at all, because the blocked amounts may
not come close to their credit limits.

To prevent credit card blocking, use the same credit card the
reservation was made, pay down your credit card to allow room
for extra items that you may need to purchase, in addition to
the reservation costs, and ensure the block is removed from your
credit card after the amount is paid in full.
