================== ARTICLE START ==================
Cyclothymic disorder and bipolar disorder are both mental
illnesses.

Do they go hand in hand? Is cyclothymic a precursor of things
to come? Does it transition into full blown bipolar disorder?

With the clinical depression disorders that exist today you
must be aware that some clinical depression disorders, almost as
a warning sign of the future. You must watch for the warning
signs.

Many of those who suffer with cyclothymic disorder are quite
likely to develop full blown bipolar disorder.

Cyclothymic disorder exhibits many of the same symptoms of
bipolar disorders, such as the extreme highs nor the extreme
lows of bipolar depression; however, neither the manic highs nor
the depressive lows well known to be associated with bipolar
last very long and they are not especially tough to deal with at
this early stage. For this reason in this early stage of the
game, cyclothymic disorder is not referred to as called bipolar
disorder.

Let's really understand the distinction here.

At this early phase of symptoms, cyclothymic disorder truly
mimics bipolar disorder with the only change being that the
highs and lows are not as severe nor do they last as long nor
are they completely disruptive to life.

However, this is a serious matter as cyclothymic disorder has a
high probability of converting into full blown bipolar disorder
and so it must be aggressively treated in this early phase for
the best possible outcome.

Cyclothymic disorder can begin to rear its ugly head in early
adulthood or in some cases even in the late teen years.

Cyclothymic disorder is known to essentially affect both males
and females equally, with only a slightly higher percentage of
females being affected.

Cyclothymic disorder seems to have a genetic component as
evidenced by the fact that many of those suffering from
cyclothymic disorder also have a family member who has suffered
from bipolar disorder. Many also have a family history of drug
and alcohol abuse.

It is quite important that anyone suffering with cyclothymic
disorder avoid all drugs and alcohol as they can further
complicate any mental health disorder as well as interrupt
treatment progress.

Remember that someone suffering from cyclothymic disorder will
not exhibit severe symptoms such as those usually seen with
bipolar disorder. These symptoms that you see will be much
milder but they absolutely, positively will affect your daily
life.

It is also important to remember that you must seek treatment
as soon as you see these symptoms since ignoring them can only
make them worse and can make treatment much more difficult.
Cyclothymic disorder treatment typically encompasses combination
therapy, including medication as well as counseling.
Particularly with this disorder, combination therapy is vitally
important.

In fact one therapy will not work without the other. Unlike
other types of depression, using only an antidepressant as
treatment is not necessarily the only prescription medication
that will be required.

Your physician may also add mood stabilizing drugs in an
attempt to help with the highly variable mood swings that can be
so unbearable and can change at a moment's notice. Your
physician may also add a sleep medication to help regulate
nighttime sleep.

As we all know, there is no cure for mental illness. It is
something that must be managed throughout life. Cyclothymic
disorder is no different from any other mental illness.

There is no cure. However, with appropriate medication and
aggressive treatment you have a shot at feeling that life is
worth getting up out of the bed each and every day. Ignoring
cyclothymic disorder will not make it go away; it will only lead
to a more tragic situation.

Seek help. It is the right thing to do.

The importance of a properly installed fire alarm system is not
to be overlooked. We, as consumers, understand the role of the
fire alarm in our homes and subsequently we turn to alarm
installation professionals to ensure that our fire alarms are
properly installed and up to code. For those performing the
installation, a special fire alarm training program is necessary
in order to guarantee their expertise in this specialized
industry.

Technicians who install fire alarm systems must participate in
a fire alarm training program; in most cases a longer,
introductory course is taken initially. Following this, a yearly
course is offered in which technicians can brush up on their
skills and learn about new fire codes that have been adopted.
These brush-up courses are offered to those technicians who
exclusively install fire alarms as well as those versed in a
variety of alarm installations including security alarms.

Most often fire alarm training will include the fundamentals of
fire alarm system plans wherein technicians examine the layout
of the building and make a drawing that details the best
location for fire alarms – as well as supplemental fire safety
measures such as sprinkler systems. In addition, fire alarm
training also requires technicians to efficiently install fire
alarms with the attention given to wiring and fire codes.

A fire alarm technician is expected to install, connect,
program, and test a fire alarm so that it passes fire inspection
by authorities. Fire alarm training will ensure that the
technician is up to the challenge by offering comprehensive
classroom instruction with the use of accredited materials,
followed by hands-on field instruction.

Fire alarm training is absolutely essential to having fire
alarm technicians who can efficiently do their job. The end
result will be homes, offices, and other buildings that include
the utmost of fire safety measures.

So, you have narrowed down your vacation plans to Lake Tahoe…
but now, you have to make the most important decision of all!
Will it be North Shore or South Shore? South Shore or North
Shore? This choice has plagued Tahoe visitors for years. The
answer is not easy, you have to look at yourself, your fellow
traveling companions, and decide what kind of experience you are
seeking. Then, take that list and compare it against the Tahoe
shores and hope for the best!

The simple facts, no matter where you go, North Shore or South
Shore, you are going to experience the 396 inches of annual
snowfall, the 300 days of sunshine, have somewhat close access
to the 18 excellent ski and snowboarding resorts, golf courses,
casinos, and the breathtaking Lake Tahoe. Mark Twain called Lake
Tahoe "the fairest picture the whole earth affords." However,
you still need to pick a side!

Now, for those of you who have not been to Lake Tahoe before,
just a little history. The North Shore is in California and
South Shore is in Nevada. The California portion of Tahoe
contains Alpine Meadows, Northstar, and Squaw Valley ski
resorts. It also has the popular towns of Tahoe City, Truckee,
Kings Beach, and Agate and Carnelian Bay. South Shore has
Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resorts, and the
towns of Incline Village, Zypher Cove, and Stateline to visit
and enjoy. But this is all the technical side of things, the
part that really needs to be investigated is the energy, the
atmosphere, the "je nas sais quoi" of the shores. And both North
and South Shores have that in spades!

South Shore, the Nevada side, brings the carefree, have fun and
forget yourself attitude that the state is famous for. With
plenty of casinos, liquor stores, restaurants, arcades, shows
and entertainment easily found. South Shore invites those who
want to have a lot to do and a lot of excitement. The casinos
make South Shore to be a 24-hour vacation destination. After you
get off the slopes, or out of a spa, you can hit the town for
dinner, then a show, then dancing, then some gambling before
doing it all again the next morning! This atmosphere means you
will probably have a very busy, non-stop vacation. Skiing,
shopping, gambling, dancing, and eating to your heart's content.
Many of the casinos and ski resorts (Heavenly and Sierra at
Tahoe) have licensed day cares that you can leave you children
with, while you get a little extra adult time in…Many first
timers to Tahoe find the plethora of activities and shuttles and
day care the perfect option to get to know Tahoe and the
surroundings. The South Shore towns also seem to have more young
families, and ski bums hanging out just to meet new people and
get their ski on. So, if you are up for an active escape from
the humdrum of your everyday life, maybe South Shore is for you!

North Shore on the other hand, is all about calm and
relaxation. Not as many first timers stay in North Shore, they
may venture over on a day trip or on one of the shuttle's buses,
but North Shore is all about keeping calm and enjoying the
solitude the lake has to offer. Many Californians and long time
vacation homeowners visit North Shore and soak up the lack of
the excitement and lights present just down the street. The two
Marriot resorts built on the California side of Stateline are
gleaming examples of this attitude for calm and tranquility.
They have top rate spas within the resorts as well shuttles to
and from the ski resorts, laundry service, and room service,
everything to make your stay nearly effortless for the
vacationer. The peaceful nature of Lake Tahoe is capitalized on
and the residents and visitors of North Shore seem more relaxed,
more like people recharging and recomposing themselves. This
does not mean that there are not a wide array of different
activities to explore and enjoy, North Shore still offers first
class ski resorts, shuttles to and from, fine dining
restaurants, spa packages, outlet shopping, and quaint
historical walks and museums, it just asks that you take them at
your own pace. Travelers will not be overwhelmed by the
multitude of places to go and things to see, but can select
things that look of interest to them, that day. Plus, you can
always cross over the Nevada side for an evening out or two!

As you can see, whether you visit North Shore or South Shore
really depends on what type of experience you are seeking… this
time around—you can always come back next year!

================== ARTICLE START ==================
A definition of what compulsion means is usually worded in the
following kind of way: A psychological and usually irrational
force that makes somebody do something, often unwillingly.

These "irrational forces" are, in the case of compulsive
disorders, caused by repetitive thoughts, or mental activity.
This is an important factor in understanding and beginning to
alter the way that the person with the compulsion represents the
problem to themselves. By understanding that the irrational
force is caused by the persons own thoughts and activities, we
begin to move the problem away from some outside force that is
making them do something, and towards understanding that the
problem is something that is caused by themselves. They may not
yet feel as if they are in control of their own thoughts because
they have got into such an automatic pattern with their thinking
that it is occurring as if they have no control of it. And it
absolutely will feel that way. After all, whose thoughts are
they? In whose head? Whose mind is that? Who is the only one
listening to those thought? If there is no one else in your
head, they must be your own thoughts! And this is a great thing
to acknowledge because it means that accepting responsibility
for those thought puts the "thinker" back in control so that
they have a much greater potential to create changes.

The first thing I would explore with a compulsive client is
what Complex Equivalence exists in their mind about this
problem. What does this problem mean? What is it trying to
achieve? What does it allow them to do? What do they believe
would happen if they stopped this behaviour? Quite often fear is
a big driver of the compulsive behaviour, and frequently the
fear exists to keep the person safe. When you know what this
problem means, its truth and validity can be explored. Quite
often there is no logical link between the behaviour / thoughts
and the "reasons" why it is occurring. For example, one lady I
met felt compelled to check the locks on her car (to the degree
that she had to have new ones fitted every 6 months) and her
greatest fear was linked to the safety of her father after he
had nearly died. The was no obvious link between her father's
incident and the repeated behaviour of locking her car. Knowing
this didn't make the problem stop, but it did encourage her to
question the validity of the problem which had felt like a very
solid problem before she had thought about it in this way.

The next step can be taken if you believe that the client's
problem may be related to a significant emotional event. A
values elicitation can be very worthwhile for discovering what
"away from" values exist in their values hierarchy and can help
uncover SEE's that the client might not have consciously
realised were still having a negative impact.

As well as, or instead of this, I would use the fast phobia
technique. The fast phobia technique doesn't have to be
restricted to phobias only. It is a process which is very useful
at desensitising the negative emotions that occur when trigger
by stimuli so that the person can be around the stimuli without
feeling negative emotions. This means there is the opportunity
to be around things that used to make them feel a compulsion and
no longer feel it.

The compulsion blowout method can be used to demolish the
submodalities associated to the stimuli. Submodalities are the
codes that we use to make meaning of our experiences and
memories. When these are adjusted, the memory / experience will
no longer work in the same way as it did in the past.

There is of course a lot of room for manouver, as a therapist I
am flexible in my approach and will adjust techniques that I
already know if I think there is a way of having them work in a
more appropriate way for that specific client. Other techniques
I have used have included advising the client that they can do
as much as they like of one compulsion, but have to trade off
another. This works really well for multiple compulsions as the
list slowly whittles down until there is just one compulsion to
deal with. By this time they have also built up confidence in
their own abilities.

A friend once told me that he felt compulsed to run indoors
whenever a helicopter flew overhead. He was not too sure where
this fear had come from or why. One day he was picnic in a large
open field with his girlfriend. A helicopter flew overhead and
there was nowhere to run to. His fear occurred and he had to sit
through it, and as a result of doing so realised that actually
he was o.k. His fear was pushed beyond its threshold and as a
result ceased to exist in that context any longer.

Obviously the best course of therapy may not be to use the
"going beyond the threshold" technique but it is certainly a
good idea to test the reaction to the stimuli once some work has
been done so that the client is able to confirm their level of
improvement.

Rejection is never easy. But some authors can't separate
themselves from their work, and take rejection letters very
personally. I get many emails from disgruntled writers who can't
get past their anger to figure out why their work was turned
down in the first place. So before you spend hours sticking pins
in your editor voodoo doll, see if you recognize yourself below:

The complaint: "Editors practice age discrimination. I'm over
50 and editors believe only young authors can write for
children."

The truth: Editors are interested in finding good books,
period. It doesn't matter how old the author is. Take a look at
the lists of award winners (ask your librarian, or do an
Internet search for Caldecott or Newbery Awards) and note the
ages of the authors. Many didn't start writing until their kids
were in school full time, or took up writing as a second career.
Editors also know that the best stories come from years of life
experience, and older writers have more to draw from. Yes,
occasionally a book written by a teenager will make the news,
but more often than not it's the novelty of the author's age
that gets the publicity, not the quality of the writing. And why
does the editor know your age in the first place? There's no
reason to mention it in your cover or query letter, unless it
has direct bearing on the story. If you're writing historical
fiction and you actually lived through the events in the plot,
or your nonfiction book is based on years of study in the
subject, then your age is a plus.

The complaint: "I'm a man, and editors think only women can
write children's books."

The truth: Sorry guys, but this one's a little ridiculous.
Again, look at that list of award winners. Men are
well-represented. Glance through the names of editors in
Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market published by Writer's
Digest Books. Lots of men there too. The only time your gender
might be an issue is with the readers themselves. For example,
teenage boys might not buy a science fiction/adventure story
written by a woman, or middle grade girls may think a man can't
possibly pen a series featuring four adolescent girls at summer
camp. They're wrong, but you can always use your first initial
instead of your name to fool your audience.

The complaint: "They're just wrong about my writing! All
editors want these days are famous names, not quality books."

The truth: Yes, many editors (especially those at larger
houses) have to be concerned with making money for the
publisher, and so rely on a certain number of established
authors each year to pay the bills. But they also know they need
to find new writers, because those standbys aren't going to be
writing forever.

Sometimes it's almost impossible to interpret a rejection
letter, and one or two form rejections does not mean you're a
failure. Editors are people too, with personal tastes and the
need to balance each list by subject matter and age group.
However, several rejections in a row deserve a closer look. Are
you submitting to appropriate publishers, who actually publish
the kind of book you've written? Have any of the houses on your
list recently published a book very similar to yours? Is your
manuscript riddled with typos or grammatical errors? Even though
a copy editor will fix these before the book's published, sloppy
presentation can give an editor reason to reject a manuscript
when she's got 50 others sitting on her desk waiting for her
attention.

In most cases, though, it's the writing that gets the
manuscript rejected. And since it's the editor's job to
recognize good writing and help those authors make their books
even better, there is a chance (admit it!) that the rejection is
deserved. How can you tell? First of all, if you get personal
comments about your manuscript in the rejection letter, take
those to heart. Play devil's advocate and assume the editor's
right, and see if those changes improve the work. Secondly, get
objective input. Join a writer's group, get a professional
manuscript critique, or pay for a personal critique session at a
writer's conference (most Society of Children's Book Writers &
Illustrators workshops--www.scbwi.org--have optional one-on-one
critiques). Take writing classes, read books on writing. Do
whatever you can to learn how to judge your work and make it
better.

The complaint: "Publishers aren't interested in publishing
books that will help kids."

The truth: Whoa! If children's book publishers didn't produce
books that benefit kids, they'd go out of business in a
heartbeat. Of course, we can all walk into a book store and find
books that aren't worth the paper they're printed on, but that's
true of any product. (Have you ever bought a T-shirt that
disintegrated in the first wash, or a DVD player that
self-destructed in a week?) I'm not saying that's a good thing,
but our society seems to tolerate a certain amount of drivel in
the marketplace. However, all publishers prefer
commercially-appealing books that also have substance. This
complaint consistently comes from writers whose goal is to "help
kids," or teach them how to grow into solid, caring citizens
through their books. This is admirable and even desirable, but
very often the message is heavy-handed and preachy. The message
smothers the story, and the book ends up sounded like a lecture.
It's simply not good writing. Try reading several popular books
wit h a message embedded in the plot (ask a teacher or librarian
for recommendations) and work on the writing-improvement
suggestions above.

The complaint: "I'm disabled/poor/have had a hard life and want
to share my story, but no one will listen."

The truth: I imagine it's difficult for an editor to reject a
manuscript that comes from someone who has struggled with
adversity and is still determined to follow their lifelong dream
of becoming a published author. The tough circumstances
themselves don't work against the writer (very often they
contribute to powerful stories) but an author's unique situation
cannot outweigh less-than-stellar writing. What's on the page is
what matters the most. If your story is too personal (it's about
your life as an adult, or you haven't extracted the universal
feelings and crafted them into a story that will be relevant to
a wide audience), the book simply won't sell in the children's
market. Again, learn what makes a quality children's book and
get objective feedback on your manuscript. Remember, no one owes
you a publishing credit just because you took the time to write
a book. Writing is hard work, and requires self-education,
practice, and persistence. There's no shame in p utting aside a
manuscript that simply won't sell and writing something new.
Every published author has a drawer full of those, and enough
rejection letters to wallpaper an office. So join the club– it's
worth the price of membership.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
When a break is executed well on the pool table, it gives the
player a better advantage over the other player. Also, when one
is consistent in breaking well on the pool table, it results
with the cue ball having a better striking position with the
other balls. With this, the player gets a better choice of
sending the other balls in the pockets with the next shot that
he executes.

There are various ways which one can break in a billiard game.
One needs to have good physics when striking the ball. Its
believed that different pool tables might determine which break
will turn out to be the best. Power and Speed are considered to
be essential but don't forget that control is needed to handle
the power that you put behind that shot.

With much practice, a player will be able to determine how to
best make the shots. There are other tricks that one can use to
improve their break on the billiard table and ultimately improve
their overall game.

Power Break

Power is considered to be crucial and important just as having
full contact with the first ball. Most pros in the billiard
profession agree that a good break moves at about twenty miles
per hour. If you can break faster than 20 mph then the better.
In the billiard game the fastest break is considered to be at
thirty miles per hour. Your break should be powerful enough but
without losing control.

Tips on Achieving a Power Break

Their are various methods you can use to execute a power break.
The important thing to note here is that you want a proper
transfer of your body weight to help your shoulders and arm
strength in wielding the break.

One good technique you can apply is by rocking your body back
and forth which assists in transferring the weight from your
front leg to the back leg. You might notice players lifting
their front legs before they strike. This helps them to transfer
their weight to their back leg and then stomp that front leg
down on contact to do the reverse.

Breaking better on the 8/9 ball game

One technique you can use on the 8 ball game is to shoot the
cue ball between the first ball and the thrid ball at a slight
angle almost parallel to the triangle's adjacent side. This is
executed from a distance far enough to give the pool player
enough space to transfer most power.

On the diamond 9 ball rack, its common to hit the head 1 ball
parallel to one of its adjacent side. As you practice more and
more on your break, you will discover which stance and power
suits you best in as yo play to drop in the wing ball.

The Break Cue

Some billiard players cannot play without the break cue. As you
use the break cue, the tip of the cue will get altered and
deformed and with time you will need to to replace the tip
because it will affect your game. The weight of the cue also
matters a lot.

Most professional players usually go for lighter break cues.
This is because when the cue is lighter, its much easier for the
billiard player to wield it with more power and speed.

Located in the North County Inland area of San Diego County
Poway real estate has become popular among homebuyers looking
for a bit more. Larger lots, larger homes, room for horses, and
room to breath best define Poway real estate. A haven amidst the
bustle of San Diego communities, Poway real estate offers low
crime, superb schools, and desirable homes. But what should you
expect if you buy into this area? Home prices, home styles,
local lifestyle, and buyer tips are all things you should know
before leaping into the hot San Diego real estate game.

Home Styles and Prices in Poway Real Estate

As prices in the San Diego housing market go, Poway real estate
is pretty affordable. Typical 3/2 detached single family homes
start around $400,000 and go up from there. In 2007 so far, the
medium price of these homes ranged from $900,000 to $1.2
million. The good news for potential buyers of Poway real estate
is that the average prices have fallen while the average numbers
of days on the market has increased in the past 6 months from 45
days to 70 days. This could mean more motivated sellers and
reduced home prices for some lucky buyers.

The homes for sale in Poway real estate are likely to be
roomier than what you'll find in a lot of San Diego communities.
The lots are larger; many people buy Poway real estate for their
love of horses and desire for room to ride. This is a bedroom
community with predominantly middle class and above
professionals and families.

The residents of Poway real estate are well-educated and place
a value on good education. 93% of locals in the Poway real
estate community have a high school diploma or more. And almost
40% have a bachelor's degree or higher. The public schools
available to Poway real estate owners are the best California
has to offer; they are ranked in the 90th percentile of
California schools.

Lifestyle Surrounding Poway Real Estate

In addition to equestrian's amenities, the community around
Poway real estate offers options to outdoor lovers of every
sort. Lake Poway is a lovely retreat surrounded by lush
hillsides and fragrant eucalyptus groves. Poway real estate
owners hike, sail, fish and camp in this welcoming outdoor oasis
year-round. The Blue Sky Ecological Reserve is a protected
habitat open to the public and staffed with a full-time
naturalist. Everyone from school-age children on field trips, to
seniors enjoying the sight of chaparral and animals in their
natural habitats, has a reason to enjoy this Poway real estate
gem.

Sometimes called the city in the country, Poway real estate's
greatest attraction to home buyers may be the breath of fresh
air it provides for residents who commute daily to busier and
more congested parts of San Diego.

Negativity by the very word suggests something bad or even
worse. Yes! That's right. Thinking of negative thoughts makes
your life hell. Unnecessary thinking over a subject without a
particular reason, against trust or faith, success or even
simply a relationship, can ruin you. Negativity implies a nature
a person possesses which ruins his or hers life along with
affecting those around. Negativity is a horrifying quality,
which every individual has, but when a person starts relying on
it then negativity becomes a big issue.

The most common thing which makes a person think negative
thoughts are why are things not happening as they were supposed
to be? Instead of finding the core reason for things not working
the way wanted, an individual will start blaming others for it.
Negativity is highly observed at work place. While giving out
promotions if your friend goes ahead of you, you start feeling
jealous and wish that you should have been in that post rather
than him. The more you are concentrating on others happiness and
enjoyment towards work, the more negative thoughts come to your
mind. This is not a case with only employees as negativity even
eats into an employer too. The competition from other companies
and the market pressure makes people think of ways by which he
or she can stop competition and never have to worry about it.
Making a single competitor lose does not mean that you are not
going to face any more problems. If not today then tomorrow a
new competitor or the same will rise.

Negativity does not restrict itself to work only, but in
personal relationships too it affects every individual falling
in its prey. When some relationship breaks either there is a
genuine reason or just simple misunderstanding.
Misunderstandings are caused due to negative thoughts coming in
your mind. Suppose your partner comes home late from work and
you just bombard him or her with questions like where were you?
Why are you late? With whom were you? The amount of "why"
questions you ask the more negativity you possess with you. This
can happen due to less trust among partners or low faith in
themselves.

Negativity has even corrupted players and athletics, the will
and wishes for winning makes them take drugs or steroids for the
extra energy and often end up in doping cases. Later they blame
their coach or physicians for doing so.

The best cure for negative thoughts not reaching you is
treatment through hypnosis. Hypnosis has been very effective in
healing negativity. Following simple steps as instructed can
help get rid of negativity. The first method or the starting
method is the pre-talk where you can understand what is the
pattern of negative thinking or how is it operating in you. You
can download mp3 or videos from the Internet regarding hypnosis
and find a way to live happily without negativity. The treatment
is simple where a person feels restful, relaxed and claim, which
in return makes him or her comfortable to fight against inner
negativity. So what are waiting for make sure you download the
mp3 today itself for being positive in life.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Our society is in some ways becoming increasingly isolated and
individualised, leading to less worthwhile personal connectivity
between us humans. In some cases this is not always a bad thing;
however the decreased amount of human interaction could be a
potential problem over time. It is my opinion that we are
already seeing the effects of this in the west. With a decrease
in interaction with other humans from many different back
grounds we run the treat of losing some of our most valuable
communication skills and in a lot of cases, don't even build the
experiences to acquire them in the first place.

So, what happens if we lose out on life experiences and
building the skills that they can help up to attain? Well with a
reduced amount of human interaction and lack of constructive
communication we can feel self conscious when we are put into
certain situations when we are older. As a hypnotherapist I help
a large amount of people with things such as social confidence
or social phobia. Nearly always it is presented to me by the
client that they feel that they just don't fit in, that their
opinion just doesn't count and that they wish just to remain in
the background – well at least until we have successfully
treated them. This is quite a common situation and something
that I help clients with on a daily basis.

So, a lack of communication and human connectivity or
interaction can lead to confidence and self esteem problems. If
this is the case for you, what can you do about it? You can
boost your confidence in many ways; however it is always best to
consider the most effective root, so that you can resolve the
issue as soon as possible. Think about where you notice your
lack of confidence, as it almost certainly will not affect you
all of the time. There may be some friends that you feel fine
with and it may be just meeting new people. You might experience
confidence issues at work or while playing sports. Once you know
where a lack of confidence or low self esteem is going to rear
its ugly head you are better placed to deal with it
successfully.

Once I have helped a client to do this I generally use hypnosis
and self hypnosis to tackle these areas specifically, and assist
the client to gain confidence just where they know that it will
be needed. This works as with hypnosis you can simply reprogram
the part of the brain that we refer to as your sub-conscious
mind and have it generate confidence in the areas that you want
and need it in.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
The internet provides countless opportunities to find and
attract highly targeted visitors to your website. Article
marketing is a great example. The people who look for and read
your article are precisely those people who will want to visit
your website. Posting on forums is another great example. The
people reading your contributions are exactly those you're
trying to attract.

The underlying tactic behind all these strategies is to
demonstrate your expertise, directly in front of your target
market. Once you find out where your ideal customers are
spending their online time, figure out a way to put a small
demonstration of your expertise right in the middle of the
crowd. Then, when they see the value you bring, the odds of
them clicking through to your website go up dramatically.

One of the best ways to do this is to offer unsolicited
testimonials for products that have helped you along the way.
The people who need your expertise are those who are looking for
those same products. You're just a few steps in front of them,
that's all. So you can leave bits and pieces of your
accumulated expertise along the path, knowing everyone behind
you is looking for the knowledge you already possess.

Amazon has become a massive online retailer and their breadth
of products has grown dramatically since their early days. But
the majority of their sales still come from books and that
represents a tremendous opportunity. You can open an account
with Amazon and leave testimonials for books you've read. You
can describe your assessment of the book and how you used the
knowledge in your business.

Now think about this. Who's going to be reading your
testimonial? Well, the people who are considering buying that
book are the only ones who will come across your comments. And
those people are the exact people you're hoping to attract to
your website. Because you already know they're considering a
particular book, they become an ideal prospect to pull into your
own space.

There are also countless other products you've used to acquire
the knowledge you now have. Information products are probably
the most obvious example but other more traditional products
qualify as well. You can write a complimentary testimonial for
the product and request a backlink in exchange. Most providers
will be happy to oblige, leaving you with a perfectly positioned
link for your ideal customers to use.

The reverse strategy works well also. You can take one of your
own products and send it to people who have popular websites and
request they review your product and provide a testimonial. Not
only do you get an authoritative testimonial you can use in your
own marketing but you will often get a review or an affiliate
link on their high-traffic website. Both can help push targeted
traffic your way.

Unsolicited testimonials are a great way to get your expertise
listed beside the exact products your target market is looking
for. If you focus on this over a period of time, you can end up
with testimonials sprinkled all across the internet, like a big
fish net in the water. On their own, each individual
testimonial might deliver scant results but in aggregate, they
can provide an ongoing funnel catching people in the middle of
their activities and redirecting them to your website.

How often do you go to the gas pump and groan because the gas
prices are just putting a huge dent in your budget? If you're
shaking your head to this question, you're definitely not alone.
Over the past couple of years, you've probably realized that gas
prices have gone up and are always changing on a consistent
basis.

What if I told you that there was a way to save on gasoline
every time you filled up your tank? I know it sounds too good to
be true but it isn't! The easiest solution is gas rebate credit
cards. If you're sort of familiar with them or you've never
heard of them before, I'm going to explain to you how they can
save you a ton of cash in the long run. The only steps it takes
from you is for you to fill out a simple application and hit the
send button. It will cost you nothing and there's no gimmick or
scam involved.

Gas rebate credit cards are very similar to any credit card on
the market. They work just like one but they benefit you in the
gas sector. All gas credit cards are different because some may
only be used on gas while others can be used on any other type
of purchases. Once again, this will all depend on the credit
card company. When you're applying, it's your duty to read the
fine print to know exactly where they'll be accepted. Your best
bet to sign up for a card that gives you cash back at a
particular gas station, seeing these usually give you the best
cash back percentages.

Choosing the right gas rebate credit card can be tough at
times. The best way to choose the right credit card is to decide
whether you want a card that focuses on one gas station or a
credit card that focuses on any. Like I mentioned in the above
paragraph, you're going to want to probably focus on the
percentage you're going to get back. You'll find that most cards
that focus on one gas station will usually give you the best
introductory and long term rate. This will be all up to you.

Once you find that perfect credit card, simply fill out the
information noted on the application and wait for the status of
your application to come either via email or regular mail.
You'll find that every card is different in their approval
process. Some cards will approve you on the spot while others
may take a few days. If you don't hear from the credit card
company within a week or so, it's always best to call them up
and ask them for a status, most of the time you'll find that
they'll have an answer for you.

If you've read this and you're motivated to save on gas, start
your search today. Once the card arrives, start using it and
you'll see all the benefits start to roll in the long run!

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Are you frustrated because you are making such slow progress in
learning to play the piano? Do you feel inept, incompetent,
uncoordinated or untalented because it takes so long to master
your favorite song?

Think of it:

When you can send an email to someone in Australia and receive
a reply within seconds, you may be tempted to think that
developing your keyboard skills should be a much faster process
than it is.

We live in the Information Age where you can get immediate
answers: "just Google it"; quick fixes: "download the update and
restart"; and instant gratification: "click here to listen to
five versions of your favorite song".

If you're like me, you're thrilled by many of the benefits of
living in the 21st century!

But what happens when you want to bake a cake, learn to drive
or build your dream house? Dr. Wayne Dyer puts it this way: "You
can't rush the growth of a tomato plant".

What I'm leading up to is this:

Growth takes time. In order to get the results you want as
quickly as possible, you need to follow a proven formula. When
you do, your keyboard success will be virtually guaranteed.

Here are the 12 ingredients that you can combine to create your
recipe for piano playing success.

Part I: External Ingredients-How to Prepare for Powerful Piano
Practicing

1. Place: Examine the place you practice to determine if it is
helping you to concentrate and stay focused. Be aware of any
distractions and eliminate them. Remember that the place you
practice can really propel your progress.

2. Schedule: Decide on the best times for practicing everyday.
Be sure to take into account your energy level, other
commitments and musical goals. When you set up and maintain a
consistent practice schedule that works for you, you'll get
faster and better results for your efforts.

3. Goals: Setting goals to learn a piece for your recital, to
memorize five songs or to remember how to play the songs your
learned in the past will help you to identify where you want to
go and by when. Identifying your goals will help you get your
piano playing from where it is now to where you want it to be

4. Priorities: Once you have set your goals, you need to
determine what material to practice and in what order.
Procrastination can easily paralyze your progress. So be sure to
start by figuring out what music is important to you so that you
will make the best use of your practice time. Setting your
priorities will help you achieve maximum results.

5. Organization: In order to use your practice time
effectively, you need to organize your music. This will not only
help to streamline the process of working on your pieces, but it
will also help you to keep your music arranged in order of its
importance for accomplishing your goals.

6. Inspiration: To stay motivated, listen to recordings, watch
DVDs of performers, read inspirational books and articles and
attend concerts and peer group soirées. When you do this often,
you will find yourself inspired to improve.

Part II: The Internal Ingredients-How to Approach Every Piece
of Music

7. Timing: Pay careful attention to rhythm when you practice.
You'll get far better results by playing slowly and evenly as
you learn and then picking up the speed as you gain confidence.
Also use your metronome to help this. You'll also be amazed at
the benefits of counting aloud.

8. Fingering: When you come to a difficult passage, take the
time to figure out the best finger pattern to use. If you don't
like what's printed in the music, write in your own. You'll then
be able to practice the part correctly, pick up the speed and
help your fingers to "memorize" the pattern.

9. Phrasing: You speak in phrases and sentences without even
thinking about it. The slurs, rests and breath marks (as well as
punctuation in the lyrics) are your guides to making your music
"speak intelligently". Pay attention to these and listen to how
much better you sound.

10. Articulation: There are many special marks that tell you
how to play each note. The staccato, marcato, tenuto and accent
symbols along with certain words give you very clear indications
of how to play each musical passage. Notice them; they're your
guides.

11. Dynamics: When you pay attention to the signs that tell you
whether to play loud, soft or somewhere in between, your music
will start coming to life. The reason why the actual name of the
piano is pianoforte is because this instrument can truly span
the range of musical volume that can help your playing to sound
super.

12. Expression: You probably fell asleep during a dull class in
school. Why? Chances are that your teacher did not speak with
much expression. Don't let this happen to your playing. One way
to increase your expressive style is to imagine that you are
playing a particular part of a piece with a non-keyboard
instrument. You will be astounded by the results you get.

Action Exercises

Here are three things you can do immediately to put these ideas
into action.

First, become a thinking pianist by using your mind to your
examine your practice spot, assess and plan your practice
schedule, identify your goals and set your priorities. Then
organize your music according to your goals and priorities and
build in regular time for inspirational activities.

Second, remember to pay attention to all of the directions
found in each piece of music: timing, fingering, phrasing,
articulation, dynamics and expression. These are your guides for
bringing your music to life. Always take the time to read the
menu and take advantage of what if has to offer.

Third, combine these 12 ingredients into your recipe for
success. Do this continuously and make it your new keyboard
success habit.

Start today. You'll astonish yourself by how fast your piano
playing will sound fantastic!

All schools need talented, motivated and inspiring teachers.
Without them, students would be hard-pressed to meet the
ever-changing standards set forth by local, state, and federal
education officials. For those who wish to work in the
classrooms of Boston Schools, support and training awaits.

All types of teachers must have appropriate, effective training
in order to be successful. New recruits, experienced
professionals, and teachers who are staying in the classroom but
changing fields are all in need of support. Boston Schools
leaders have recognized this necessity, and are working on the
implementation of a plan to make sure the teachers get what they
need.

New Boston Schools Teachers

For the new Boston Schools teacher, it is imperative to set-up
a blanket of support. Think about it, they've just gotten out of
college where they've probably received a good education, but
one that is mostly theory. Mentoring these new educators will
help them realize their goals and help them implement their
philosophies. The new Boston Schools' teacher should never be
handed a key to the classroom and a grade book with the words,
"Good Luck!"

Too often, this is exactly what happens, and guess what? They
don't usually stick around very long. Sometimes, new teachers
don't come straight from college, but straight from the board
room. Many, many professionals eventually turn to teaching as a
way to feel like they are contributing to the greater good.
These folks, too, need lots of support of their passion for
becoming teachers. They need quality training (and quickly) so
that they are prepared to jump right in and begin teaching their
Boston Schools students.

Experienced Boston School Teachers

Experienced teachers also are in need of ongoing training.
Whether through teacher inservices or access to higher degree
programs, it is the responsibility of Boston Schools to make
sure the teachers are getting what they need. A variety of
seminars and workshops are offered through the Boston Schools'
district throughout the school year, and are available to
teachers on "inservice" days when students have the day off.
Inservice meetings are free to Boston Schools teachers and only
require an investment of time. In addition, Boston Schools may
offer tuition for teachers to get their Master's Degrees at
little or no cost. Some colleges also offer free tuition in
exchange for the teacher taking on a student intern.

Boston Schools' Teachers who wish to change their field of
expertise – a middle school math teacher who wants to teach 3rd
grade, for example – must not only change their certification,
but take the classes and training required by the state to do
so. Some school systems even offer cash incentives to get
teachers in the high-need fields of math and science. For the
most part, training of this sort can be had through Boston
Schools' professional development offices.

It is important to realize that Boston Schools are not only
responsible for educating students; they are also responsible
for educating the teachers. Without continuing professional
development through mentoring, inservice days, and help with
college tuition, teachers would not be able to acquire the
educations they need.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Interesting question, and you may be wondering if the subprime
housing mess may be affecting you. It you don't understand what
this means, well let me give you some information to increase
your knowledge on this subject.

For the most part subprime lending is also known as second
chance or b-paper lending. Subprime loans are loans made to
consumers who do not have the best credit and would probably pay
a higher interest rate du to their not so stellar credit. These
type of loans are both risky to borrowers and lenders because of
poor credit history, high interest rates and other financial
factors. Subprime loans are commonly utilized for home loans,
car loans, credit cards and personal loans. In addition,
subprime loans typically carry higher interest rates than prime
A-loans for borrowers with good credit.

Subprime loans became more popular in the last few years due to
the appreciation of homes, availability of more flexible
adjustable rate mortgages and less rigid lending standards. The
increase in appreciation created more equity in homes. This in
turn allowed lenders to become more flexible in the loans
granted to borrowers with less attractive credit via subprime
lending. It is noted that this also created relaxed standards by
the lender in checking a person's credit history, income and
requiring a down payment. In many instances, a consumer with
poor credit was able to secure a home with no verification of
income and no down payment required.

Adjustable rate mortgages are one of the major factors involved
in the subprime mess. The adjustable rate mortgages consist of a
variable rate that is linked to the current interest rates.
These particular loans have been heavily used by lenders in the
subprime market as alternatives to fixed rate mortgages. Lenders
offered low introductory adjustable rates to attract more
borrowers. By doing this, many people purchased homes with these
type of loans.

You're probably wondering, what happened to make borrowers end
up not being able to make their mortgage payments? Well, what
happened is that the federal funds rate went from one percent in
2003 and was dramatically increased to 5.5 percent. This
increase in the funds interest rate was significant for the
subprime housing problem because over a three year period it
left many borrowers with mortgage payments that increased
dramatically. This has created major problems for borrowers
being able to continue making their mortgage payments. Some
borrowers mortgage payments have increased as much as fifty
percent or more from their initial mortgage payment. As an
update, there is good news for some borrowers, the federal funds
rate was just recently reduced in late January 2008 to three
percent. The reduction of the federal funds rate may help some
borrowers with the amount they will pay for their adjustable
rate mortgages.

A significant problem with the interest only or adjustable rate
mortgage loans that homeowners are currently facing in unison
with their high mortgage payments is the fact that most lenders
are not willing to work out an arrangement or compromise with
the borrower to reduce their payment. It is noted that most of
the adjustable rate mortgage and interest only loans were
packaged and sold as a security for investors. The packaged
mortgage loan security usually contains a clause restricting
working out a compromise arrangement with the borrower. Hence
the majority of adjustable rate mortgages and no interest loans
renewed in late 2007 and set to renew in 2008 may result in
numerous foreclosures for homeowners.

So does all of this information provided in this article affect
you? If it does, you may want to consider contacting your lender
or mortgage loan servicer to see if they would be willing to
assist you with reducing your mortgage payment by getting you
into a fixed rate mortgage loan you can afford. You can also
contact Hope Now which is an alliance of mortgage counselors,
servicers, investors and other market participants. Hope Now is
an organization that reaches out to homeowners who are facing
foreclosure and who need assistance in trying to remain in their
homes. To obtain information concerning approved mortgage
counselors or to discuss your particular mortgage problem, you
may want to consider contacting the Hope Now hotline at

To all the nurses out there who love nursing and traveling: did
you know that you can combine both of your loves in a career as
a traveling nurse? The field of travel nursing has several
benefits over other areas of nursing. Let's look at some of the
outstanding benefits you'll enjoy in a career as a traveling
nurse.

One of these benefits includes travel around the country
working at jobs that can last anywhere from just a few weeks to
as long as a year. Although many would not necessarily consider
it a benefit because it is a part of the job, to many others it
is a major benefit. A job as a traveling nurse allows you to
work in many new areas. Often times these are areas that you
might not normally consider for a vacation, but they are often
in some of the most beautiful parts of the country. You can see
many places across the United States as you work and you'll have
plenty of time to take in all the sites.

Most travel nurse agencies offer a wide variety of benefits to
nurses. Traveling nurses are some of the best-paid nurses in the
country. Usually, the pay ranges from $21 to $48 an hour. This
will vary based on your level of experience in your field as
well as the location of the assignment. Some areas of the
country will pay much better than others. Some agencies offer a
number of bonuses, including sign on and completion bonuses.
Some even offer bonuses when you renew your contract for at
least 13 weeks. Loyalty bonuses sometimes offered include
monetary rewards, upgrades in housing and paid vacations. Most
agencies will also provide referral bonuses for any nurse
completing a full assignment that you have referred.

Another major benefit often included when you sign on to travel
with an agency is wonderful health benefits. Most agencies
furnish fully paid medical insurance for you with the option to
add your family at a reasonable expense. Also, often included
with your benefits package, are vision and dental insurance,
life insurance, long- and short-term disability and accident
coverage. Exact benefits will vary from agency to agency, so it
is important to investigate what is offered by each company that
you speak with.

Many companies will furnish retirement plans, such as a 401K
plan usually available after just one month of service. Roadside
assistance packages, such as AAA, are frequently provided.
Continuing education is often provided at no cost to you and
some agencies will reimburse continuing education.

Travel nursing is not the perfect opportunity for everyone, so
you must consider the pros and cons carefully. It is also
important to investigate any agency that you are considering
signing up with. Ask the agency you are considering to speak
with some of the traveling nurses who are already a part of
their company. A thorough search of the internet to see what
others say about the agency can also turn up some interesting
information.

There is such a high demand for nurses who are able, and
willing, to travel for their jobs today. The benefits, rewards
and bonuses available to those who decide to become a traveling
nurse seem endless. Travel nursing could be just the shot in
the arm your career needs if you are becoming tired of the same
thing day after day, year after year. It could just be the
change you are looking for.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
One of the largest expenses when starting a business can be
advertising and marketing to bring in customers. This can seem a
daunting expense for those who are newbie's to the online
business arena, and are trying to start a business on a budget.
It doesn't have to be that way! There are many ways to advertise
your business without spending a dime; here are the top 3 free
advertising and marketing ideas for an online business.

1.Write articles about your topic of interest. This is the
number one way I drive traffic to Women on the Net and my other
sites. In fact, the article you are reading right now will send
me thousands of visitors over time. It's not hard to write a how
to article about your chosen topic. You just need to be
conversational in your language. Act like you are explaining the
solution to a friend's problem, and write it just that way. Now
find sites that might be interested in your information, and
write the editor asking if they would like to reprint the
article for free, in exchange for a live link and short bio of
you and your site at the end of the article. Also submit your
articles to article banks to allow other publishers to access
and reprint your articles, for the same bio and live link. My
favorite article banks are Ezinearticles.com and
IdeaMarketers.com, although there are many. Make sure you add
new articles every week, and your site will also get the added
benefit of receiving more traffic from search engines.

2.Exchange ads with other list owners. There are many websites
with newsletter lists who are in the same boat you are...no
money for advertising! Don't be afraid to offer an exchange of
advertising to help each other out. Obviously you don't want to
choose a close competitor. But think outside the box a little. I
have traded ads for my decorating site with sites for stay at
home moms with great results. Not a home and garden competitor,
but still has a target market that works for me as well.

3.Find popular forums and message boards in your area of
expertise, and participate! Answer questions, join in
conversations, and be SURE you have a signature line below your
name after every post, with a link to your site and a one line
description of what you do. For instance, my sig line for home
decorating forums might look like:

Kathy Wilson
"Home Decorating with Creativity, Not Cash!"
www.TheBudgetDecorator.com

That's it, just a subtle sig line. People will start to quickly
recognize you as a helpful expert and will visit your site to
see what you offer. The one thing you DO NOT want to do is
actively promote your site within your message. If people ask
you about it, suggest they email you off list. Most forums have
rules against promoting your own site, and it's just annoying.
However, sig lines are almost always allowed. In addition, you
might make some friends or network with some associates in the
subject area you love! A real plus for those of us who work at
home all day, and are somewhat isolated.

Three easy ways to get free advertising for online businesses!
A little effort and you can have a steady stream of traffic
coming to your website, for no money at all!

================== ARTICLE START ==================
I'm writing this article from the land of sharp-shooters and
high rollers.

It's the place where people go for a splash of flash and to
live out their dreams of glamour and luxury.

Las Vegas!

Attending the Internet Marketing Super Conference, one of my
clients has reminded me of an important Law of Attraction secret
that I want to pass on to you.

You see, he's aware that the Law of Attraction magnetized him
toward me so I could help him realize his dreams.

Terry works HARD for his paychecks:

Like so many people do.

TOO Hard.

Terry knows that - which is why he "allowed" the Law of
Attraction to move him more into my world, or my sphere of
being.

I wish so many more people would "allow" themselves to be moved
toward success.

We do, but then something happens...something changes..we allow
something to regain control of our thoughts, our feelings, and
our actions:

FEAR and DOUBT!

Fear and doubt are why you don't quickly and easily move toward
massive success.

Example:

"I didn't hear back from Keith for several hours. He must be a
con artist and trying to rip me off."

Listen up because understanding this Law of Attraction Secret
is going to help move you forward in a BIG way:

You're probably having some success in recognizing the Law of
Attraction working in your life. You may even be able at this
point to make certain very positive choices and decisions about
your life.

I can feel that many people reading this ARE working with the
Law of Attraction.

That's just AWESOME. You are amazingly special to be able to do
that.

AND..

The next level is to commit to and practice doing this:

"Allow the Law of Attraction to continue moving you toward your
dreams. Don't pull up short because of those fears and doubts
that nag at you."

Focus on the prize and on nothing else.

Please read that again.

Focus on the prize and on nothing else.

There isn't any place for doubt to remain in your heart when
you commit to looking only at Limitless Wealth and Success.

What you focus on EXPANDS. Why does it expand? Well through
focus and attention we each have the power to give shape and
life. That in turn ATTRACTS the people, situations and outcomes
that match up in VIBRATION.

Do you 'see' what I'm saying here?

If you focus on fear and doubt, it's a natural law that you
will start drawing to you outcomes that support living a life of
fear and doubt.

Here's the powerful flipside though: if you continue to focus
on 'Limitless Wealth and Success', that is exactly what you will
have in your life!

Keep your attention on higher vibrations and you're certain to
see countless miracles take place in your life. But remember:
seek BALANCE! Because if you completely replace fear and doubt
with `Limitless Wealth and Success' but manage to slip into a
state of cockiness, selfishness or arrogance, you certainly will
see all your success quickly disappear before your eyes.

It's not about the material objects you gain as much as it is
about the person you become.

I know that you are capable of atracting special things into
your life. So let's do it!

Movie tourism has been growing in popularity for decades and
the USA is a prime destination as so many global cinematic
blockbusters are made there. Movies have the power to bring
characters from the past alive again in glorious Technicolor and
this rekindles interest in the places and people.

Following the release of the `Assassination of Jesse James by
the Coward Robert Ford', starring Brad Pitt, interest in the
iconic outlaw has reached a new high. If you have a yen to learn
more about Jesse James, after seeing the movie, and to sort out
some of the fact from the fiction that has grown around his life
and times, visit Missouri and follow in the footsteps of this
infamous gunslinger, who later died by the hand of an associate.
Most sites are located within 50 miles of Kansas City.

Not withstanding that the movie was shot in Alberta, Canada,
James hailed from Kearney, Missouri. His notoriety began in
February 1866, when he and his gang, which included his brother
Frank, stole $60,000 from a bank in the town of Liberty.

Today the same building houses the Jesse James Bank Museum –
here you can see period furnishings, look into the original bank
vault, and read an account of that fateful day's action. For 15
years the James gang traveled throughout the U.S. robbing trains
and banks.

At the Jesse James Farm and Museum, in Kearney, you can visit
his old home. An audio-visual presentation recaps the exploits
of Jesse James and his gang of outlaws, and there is a large
collection James family artifacts on display, including Jesse's
boots and spurs. His original burial place is also at the farm.
Near the farmhouse is the childhood swimming hole where Jesse
and brother Frank spent many a hot day. Mount Olivet Cemetery,
also in Kearney, is James' final resting place, after his
remains were moved there in 1902, to lie beside those of his
wife Zerelda.

Winston's Historic Depot Museum, once home to the Chicago, Rock
Island and Pacific Railroad Depot, is where the Jessie James
gang's Great Train Robbery took place in 1881. The displays
relate railroad and local history, as well as James gang lore.

Finally, at Independence, Missouri is the two-story Jail,
Marshal's Home And Museum, dating from 1859. Jesse James'
brother, Frank, spent time here, and in fact was acquitted by a
sympathetic jury when tried for bank and train robbery.

The Patee House Museum in St. Joseph, was once known as World's
Hotel, a luxury hotel that served travellers as the railroad
pushed westward to St. Joseph and the starting point of the Pony
Express. Today, the extensive museum has an 1854 Buffalo Salon,
and exhibits of western art, antique toys, and other western
memorabilia.

You should also visit the nearby Jesse James Museum Home, where
the outlaw was shot and killed by Robert Ford in 1882.
Interesting displays include mementos from Jesse's grave when he
was exhumed in 1995, and a bullet hole in the wall reputed to be
from an unsuccessful attempt on his life.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
I have been an aspiring musician for thirty years. Recently I
had an interesting musical experience which has profoundly
affected my business.

One experience that I would suggest to all is to lead an
orchestra. I got one such opportunity and realized the value.
Quite naturally, I had my doubts about my `performance'. I
wondered if I could lead correctly and would I get a response at
all. And if somebody did respond, what would be the response. If
I did appear foolish, how then would I expect others to follow?
My orchestra was a group of conference participants sitting in
to hone their leadership skills.

But surprise of surprises, I did look foolish, although by
intent. But foolish enough to inspire the participants to do
exceedingly well in their first ever stint as conductors. This
set the stage and tone for the leadership workshop. When some
joked that mine was an easy act to follow, I knew my job was
done. With the music in the background, I started passing the
baton, quite randomly, so that the participant could experience
"Leadership". This caught many by surprise but did get them to
perform their stint as a conductor. Each `conductor' performed
his stint and passed on the baton to another and took his seat.
I was certainly glad to note that each participant responded to
the different styles of the leadership. They clapped,
participated and even soloed in response to each new conductor.

In the debrief session that followed, it became abundantly
clear that we had all learnt a great deal from this orchestra
session:

- No one style is right. There are many approaches and styles
to leadership. Style is driven by talent and hence the gains and
goals of leadership.

- Besides, the leadership style is also dependent on the type
of score of the soundtrack or the script that one is required to
follow

- One's leadership style may be influenced by the conductor or
conducting style that one has begun to like. An interesting
aspect in this was that each participant realized how different
the view is from the audience as opposed to the conductor's view
of an orchestra. It was a different experience to conduct.
Participants, upon returning to their seats, better appreciated
the degree of difficulty, the risk, the roles and responsibility
of conducting i.e. leadership. Those that managed to weave
together the brass with the strings and the percussion provided
the best performance. This was a reflection of how each leader
was able to identify and gel the strengths of each musician and
hence make some great music. The questions that will determine
your own ability to lead an orchestra are:

- Are you able to lead the group well?

- How well do you connect with the different temperaments of
your orchestra? Are you able to identify the quiet ones from the
boisterous, the soloist from the quartets, and the steady back
bones from the one-act types?

- How well do you appreciate the various strengths of your
orchestra? Does the unconscious trump the self conscious? The
best performances were elicited when each conductor stopped
being self conscious. Conductors stopped being self conscious
the moment their attention shifted from how they looked to how
to get the best out of the ensemble. Each of the participants
did realize that the role of the leader changed as the music
changed. Each learnt to learn and adapt from those before and
those who lead later. It was the brave and the expressive that
got the encores and bravos from the followers.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
'If you do something once, people will call it an accident. If
you do it twice, they call it a coincidence. But do it a third
time and you've just proven a natural law.' ~Grace Hopper

Many people take life at face value. A leak springs up they fix
it. A door falls off the hinges, they fix it. A lawn mower
breaks, they fix it - or buy a new one.

But did you ever stop to think there might be something more to
these happenings than meets the eye?

In the past, I admit, I viewed many things that occurred to me
as inconvenient and frustrating - especially if it meant I had
to take some sort of action.

It's also true to say that I never saw events unfolding in my
life as having any particular point. They happened, I offered as
little response as possible, and never even blinked at the
possibility that any event unfolding in my life might have a
more significant meaningful.

For a long time I was comfortable with life happening to me and
me getting by. But in truth, my comfort had many discomforts. In
fact, my comfort was intensely uncomfortable at times.

Over time, I came to realized that everything that occurs to us
occurs to provides us with opportunity.

How does this work?

We can either accept what happens and grow, or resist it. The
choice we make determines who we choose to be in that moment.
Who we choose to be determines what happens next - whether we
move on or get a more intense experience of the same pattern.

Does this mean pain?

No, not always. In fact, I was in a City amongst five million
people, when I saw someone who helped me slot things into place.

I'd just been through a relationship break-up when I began to
see how masterfully life is weaved around us to meet our needs.

Within one week this what happened to me: first, an old
girlfriend from work contacted me through Friends Reunited.
Second, I bumped into a girl I dated at college. Then I heard
from a childhood sweat heart.

The speed and the synchronicity of this all happening left me
flabbergasted. But then something else happened.

In the City a few days later, I lost my bearings and somehow
found myself standing outside the Tower of London. It was an
awesome day and the sun was shining, so I took in the view. And
that was when it happened.

A voice from my past, a haughty, know-it-all voice came up from
behind me. She was on her mobile phone, luggage in tow and not
caring who knew the stewardess on the flight from New York had
been mean to her.

I stepped back and let her pass, my mouth fell open and then I
laughed. What in goodness name was going on?

Four people I'd dated within a week had, even if only for a
moment, flitted in and out of my life. This had to have some
significance.

I had to understand it.

A friend of mine, who'd read the Celestine Prophecy and
sometime behaves a bit sage-like said, 'It's obvious! You need
to take a look at your past relationships. Maybe take note of
what you liked and what you didn't like in each of them, so you
can stop making mistakes like your last one.' Or words to that
effect.

This is exactly what I did. And ever since then, I've taken
note of things with reoccurring patterns happening.

In terms of building up your awareness and turning your
difficulties into gold, there is nothing more worthwhile than
becoming aware of the patterns forming in your life.

The quote at the top of this article has much truth in it. I
believe when something happens it happens for a reason. If it
happens twice I should really start to consider what I must do.
If it happens a third time, there is a clear patterns occurring,
and if I don't like the pattern, I need to take action to change
it.

TIP

Ask yourself: what is a reoccurring pattern in your life:
People pulling out onto the road in front of you and driving
slowly, taking wrong turnings, arguments, people complimenting
you on something you're good at and encouraging you to pursue a
new career?

If something is regularly occurring or happening, 2-3 times or
more in a short space of time, there is a message from the
universe for you to take stock of and act upon.

Consider the possibilities for what you can do.

Love and good wishes

Neil

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Mawlana Jalalud-din Rumi, is one of the most universal of
Islamic Saints, poet, humanists, jurist, and theologian is 800
years old. With this article I would like to explain briefly
some general information about his works, ideas and about the
man himself.

2007 is the 800th anniversary of the birth of Mawlana Jalal
ud-din Rumi, the great humanist, mystic, poet and theologian.
Upon a proposal by Culture and Tourism Ministry of Turkey, the
year 2007 was proposed as the "International Rumi year" to
UNESCO. UNESCO issued a medal in his name in association with
the 800th anniversary of his birth. This is intended to
commemorate Rumi's 800th birthday anniversary which was
celebrated all over the world.

Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi was born in 1207 in Balkh, presently
Afghanistan. At the age of 21, Rumi settled in the "Turkish
Seljuk Empire" where he lived most of his life until he died in
Konya , Turkey on 17 December 1273.

He remains one of the greatest thinkers and scholars of islamic
civilization. He addressed humanity as a whole : "I do not
distinguish between the relative and the stranger."

The world of Mawlana is not exclusive, but is rather the
highest state of a human being – namely, a fully evolved human.
He offends no one and includes everyone, as a perfect human
being who is in search of love, truth and the unity of the human
soul.

Mawlana's very broad appeal, highly advanced thinking, humanism
and open heart and mind may derive from his genuinely
cosmopolitan character, as during his lifetime he enjoyed
exceptionally good relations with people of diverse social,
cultural and religious backgrounds. Mawlana was familiar with
the core message of all of them and therefore was appreciated by
believers of many religions. Most of those scholars who have
studied Mawlana admit that there was no more beautiful tribute
to Mawlana's universality than his funeral, a 40-day marathon of
grieving attended by distraught and weeping Muslims, Christians,
Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and Zoroastrians who mourned in such a
manner that one would have believed that Mawlana belonged to
each one of them.

He produced five major works of verse and prose. His six-volume
poem Masnav-i Manavi (Spiritual Couplets) is considered to be
his major work. Divan-ı Kebir (the Great Divan), another
work of verse. Fihi Ma Fih (In What's in it) contains his
conversations with the people and his disciples. Majlis-i Sab'a
(Seven Sessions), cover his Sermons and Mektubat (letters)
compiles his 147 letters to "Seljuk Sultans " and prominent
personalities of the time.

"In generosity and helping others be like a river
In compassion and grace be like the sun
In concealing other's faults be like a night
In anger and fury be like the dead
In modesty and humility be like the earth
In tolerance be like a sea
Either exist as you are or be as you look "

In their passion, honesty, and gorgeous imagery, the writings
of Mawlana have become a means of connecting directly with the
Divine. His works, thoughts and teachings bear supreme witness,
in a manner transcending all national, cultural and
civilizational boundaries, to the sweet mysteries of divine
truth. His religious thought and understanding is an exemplary
manifestation of a transcendental school of the divine message.

"Come!.. Whatever you may be, come no matter what…
Whether you are an infidel, a fire worshipper or an idolater…
Whether you have foresworn a hundred times,
Whether a hundred times you have broken your oath…
This door here is no door for despair;
Come as you are !"

The main theme and message of Rumi's thoughts and teachings is
the love of God and his creatures. The focus of his philosophy
is humanity and his objective is to achieve and to help others
reach the state of perfect human being . He founded the Mevlevi
mystic order, commonly known as the "whirling dervishes" and
created the Sema rite, a ritualistic sacred dance to
symbolically seek the divine truth and maturity. Rumi's message
and teachings continue to inspire people from all religions and
cultures today and show us how to live together in peace and
harmony.

It is significant that Mevlevi Sema Ceremony was proclaimed by
the UNESCO as a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage
of Humanity" in 2005. In other words, Sema ceremony, symbolic
and unique expression of the Rumi's teachings is listed among
the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

In recognition of the conformity of Rumi's message with the
objectives and mission of UNESCO, upon the proposal by Turkey
together with Afghanistan and Egypt, the 33rd UNESCO General
Conference decided to associate UNESCO with celebrations of the
800th anniversary of the birth of Rumi in 2007. A commemorative
medal was also issued by UNESCO on the same occasion.

In June and September 2007 Turkey, Afghanistan and Iran jointly
celebrated the occasion at the UN and UNESCO Headquarters in New
York and Paris, respectively, with a series of events comprising
a programme including a panel discussion, "Sema Ceremony"and an
exhibition on the vision and works of Rumi.

Additionally the Turkish Government hosted an International
Symposium on Rumi from 8-12 May 2007 in Istanbul and Konya where
hundreds of prominent personalities, academics, researchers who
has the expertise on Rumi's philosophy gathered together and
shared their knowledge.

A special programme of mystic Mevlevi music, Sema ceremonies by
the whirling dervishes, lectures and exhibitions were held in a
number of major cities in Turkey and around the world. A
commemorative stamp and a commemorative coin was issued for the
same occasion by the Turkish Postal Administration.

Rumi's vision and message of love, peace and harmony among
humanity has never been more relevant. The 800th anniversary of
his birth in 2007, grants us the opportunity to remember and
practice this vision and message.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
It's kind of a law of nature: your computer slows down over
time even though nothing seems to have changed. This has been
happening to computers over the years and early on, it was
probably kind of true. But in reality nowadays it's not your
computer getting slower, it's all the stuff that gets added to
it when you install software or even just save or delete a file.

After all, you current computer is probably not that old. It's
likely running XP or Vista. Why should you spend hundreds of
dollars replacing it, especially when you know deep down that it
will only start slowing down again as soon as you've bought a
new PC.

So how to make your computer faster again without buying a new
machine? What can you do to breathe some life into your computer
and make it a joy to use again?

Firstly, check how much memory your machine has. Windows always
has liked to use lots of memory and modern operating systems
like XP and Vista are especially greedy. If your machine has
less than 2Gb of RAM memory, it's time to treat it and you to
more. No matter what the "in your dreams" minimum requirements
there were on the box of the operating system.

Upgrading your memory to this level will make near enough
everything on your computer run faster. If Windows doesn't have
enough memory to work with, it will use space on your hard disk
as an alternative. But hard disks are lots, lots slower than
regular memory. Swapping information to your hard drive takes a
lot longer than switching it around in memory.

A memory upgrade is simple enough to do yourself - there are
plenty of tutorials online to show you how - or your local
computer store will be happy to help you for a small fee. The
whole operation should be over quickly - it will probably take
you longer to unscrew the screws on the case than it will to
upgrade the RAM. It's then a matter of earthing yourself (touch
a water pipe, for instance) so you don't suddenly jab your
machine with static electricity. Then just add the extra RAM in
the slots that are almost certainly sitting vacant.

If it's only print jobs that are running slow, do the same
treatment for your printer if it's possible. Color lasers
especially will appreciate any extra memory you give them and
will allow Windows to pass them across more of the printing job,
freeing up your machine for other tasks. Putting extra memory in
your printer works much the same way as adding it to your main
computer. I've done this to printers in the past and they've
really appreciated it – their print performance came right up to
the advertised pages per minute speed rather than the speed
you'd expect from an ancient dot matrix.

If that still doesn't do enough to make your computer faster,
there are other things you can try as well.

All pet dogs should be treated as members of our family and
adequate attention must be paid to the canine's health.
Sometimes dogs become sick but may not look so. It is very
important to recognize and understand dog illnesses symptoms.

Since prevention is a better cure, we must learn something
about dog illnesses and symptoms so we can better understand
their conditions. This will help us recognize some common dog
illnesses. If appropriate and adequate vaccinations are
administered to the puppies, most of the common dog illnesses
can be easily prevented.

Some elementary observations are useful to recognize certain
common dog illnesses. Dogs take a lot of sleep but their sleep
is marked by alertness. If a dog is sluggish then there may be
various causes contributing to it, right from anemia to old age.
If the dog is limping then you should check for prospective
painful areas using a firm and yet gentile hand. Check out for
any signs indicating lameness from time to time.

The appetite of the dog is bound to be affected by ill health.
Look for any signs of loss of appetite. An important sign of dog
health problems is excessive thirst. A pronounced weight loss is
also an indicator of ill health. Check the eyes for any ulcers,
discharges, veins or sores.

The mouth of a healthy dog is pink. There should not be any
discoloring or cavities in the teeth. Look for signs of
discharge from ears. It is advisable to clean the ears from time
to time. The dog's head should be regularly checked for sore
patches, hair loss, or deep wounds.

Investigate the limbs and trunk for the same signs. If the dog
is vomiting, there may be various underlying problems. If the
body temperature of your dog is not between the range 38 to 39
Celsius it is an indication of some kind of illness. Check the
female dogs for any kind of foul smelling vaginal discharge,
which needs attention of a vet.

The symptoms of pain and discomfort experienced by a dog can
give us many clues about the possible underlying illness. If the
dog is suffering any abdominal pain, it may be due to canine
hepatitis, enteritis or it can be a simple case of constipation.
The abdominal swelling dogs indicate canine bloat and roundworms
in puppies. Aggression of the dog may be caused by rabies.
Roundworms, tapeworms, and whipworms my cause anemia in dogs.
Any behavioral changes in dog can be an indicator of hookworms,
tapeworms, whipworms, canine arthritis, heart disease, canine,
or parvovirus.

Kidney diseases sometimes cause blood in urine. Eye infections
and entropion cause bloodshot eyes in dogs. A ruptured
diaphragm, obstructed airway, lungworm, bronchitis, pneumonia,
food poisoning, heatstroke, allergies can cause respiratory
problems in dogs.

There are various reasons of sudden change in weight of dogs
like heart disease to heartworms. Hernia might be caused due to
long term constipation in dogs. Allergies, parvovirus,
hepatitis, lungworm, TB, pneumonia or distemper may be one of
the reasons of coughing in dogs. Cannine parvovirus can also
cause dehydration in dogs. Any pancreatic disorder, food
poisoning can give rise to diarrhea in dogs. The dog may suffer
from hair loss due to mange, red mange demodectic, scabies,
cheyletiella mange, or cushings syndrome.

If dog indicates any signs of failing genital bleeding,
persistent constipation, projectile vomiting, fainting, hair
loss, seizure, stumbling, trauma, trembling, mouth bleeding,
rectal bleeding, lethargy, shaking, urinating problems contact a
dog care specialist.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Conversational hypnosis sounds easy: talk to someone and "pow!"
they're hypnotized. Just like you see happen on television with
hypnosis stage shows, except you're doing the hypnotizing in
real life with real people.

Well, although it's fairly easy to slot hypnotic commands into
your everyday conversations, you'll still need to practice a
little bit. Sorry. The good news is that – like everything in
life – the more you practice, the better you'll get. And your
practice can be done on real people, so you'll get to know
what's working for you and what isn't.

So the good news is that this practice can be while you're
learning. So long as you don't sound too stilted when you're
talking to someone, they probably won't know that you are doing
your best to hypnotize them. So if it doesn't work out, that's
fine. You'll know that what you were experimenting with didn't
work but they won't. So it's a win-win situation: when your
trials work out, that's great and when they don't go as well as
expected, that's fine too. Think about it, you didn't learn to
walk or ride a bike or drive a car instantly. It took time and
practice. This is the same.

It's usually best to build up some kind of rapport with the
person you are hypnotizing. So don't just start your chat with
something like "go into trance now". Instead, make sure you're
both comfortable talking with each other. Nothing too heavy, but
enough that you're chatting fairly normally. You can research
rapport building elsewhere but essentially it's just a fancy
name for getting "in synch" with the other person and not
getting their back up.

Then you need to induce some kind of hypnotic trance. One of
the easiest ways of doing this is to get the other person to
imagine a place or an event. If you know they've just been away
on vacation this is quite easy. If you've shared past
experiences, the same goes. If not, pick something likely to
have happened in the recent past - their journey to work, a
television show you know they watch, that kind of thing.

Once our imagination starts working, its quite easy to throw in
some hypnotic commands and it will work on them quite happily.

Commands can be anything you want (so long as it's ethical!).
You can introduce immediacy using words like "now". "So think
back now to a time when..."

Questions work quite well for embedding commands as well: "Did
you ever think about ..."

These commands can be positive or negative - be careful what
you are saying and if possible avoid negative people who are
consciously or unconsciously giving you negative commands -
"Gee, this is like a madhouse here", "That music is like a
funeral march", that kind of thing.

Once you start becoming more conscious of the words you are
using, you'll find it becomes easier and easier to use hypnosis
in your everyday conversations.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Self confidence is not only an important phrase but the life
mantra for all, especially for students. The stressful and
competitive academic studies of today do not give the students
time enough to develop their qualities and build a strong
personality. The studies do not give them any practical
knowledge or impart them important skills that would help them
in future in building their careers. The theoretical knowledge
imparted at schools is nothing more than mere words that they
are mugging up for getting excellent grades in exams. These
words are soon forgotten as soon as the exams are over and what
is left is an unlearned mind. What students need is practical
knowledge to help improve their mental capabilities, build
career skills and other skills for building their careers. These
will further build their self confidence and help them in their
self development.

Students should be encouraged to undertake games and project
works that will help involve not only their physical skills but
also help them utilize their mental abilities. Project works
done in groups encourage students to work with each other like a
team and develop patience towards other people. Students that
are usually scolded in classes for being naughty and playing
pranks on teachers and classmates can be helped through such
activities. Their energies can be utilized in constructive
works, which will divert them from other destructive activities.
It is said that only a person with a sharp intelligence can
cheat others. Naughty students have sharp brains that should be
molded to develop career skills. Their creative thinking that
they utilize in cooking up new pranks can be used in creating
good sportsmen, singers, painters or actors. Many schools have
sports periods in junior classes that not only help students in
momentarily escaping from their hectic academic schedules but
also utilize their physical energies and thus stay healthy and
fit. Students should participate in extra-curricular activities
like debates, creative writing competitions, plays, singing and
dance competitions, etc. Such activities help in developing
their self confidence and also their speaking skills or their
ability to present themselves in public. Such students are more
efficient in dealing with others as adults and usually end up
making great team leaders.

Students in early adolescence usually lack self confidence.
They are in a fragile phase of their lives where the responses
they get from the society, family and friends confuse them,
making it difficult for them to distinguish between right and
wrong. They are neither adults nor children any more. The peer
pressure forces them to experiment extreme things whereas the
parents want them to wait since they are still children. At the
same time the parents want them to behave responsibly like grown
ups. Especially at this stage students should be encouraged to
indulge in creative activities that would divert their thinking
and help them in developing their skills. The energy pent up in
adolescent minds can force them to indulge in anti-social
activities, thus creating the criminals of tomorrow. They should
be encouraged to take up summer jobs, some kind of coaching or
training, workshops or help their parents in household works.
Parents should treat them like friends and allow them to not
only participate in family discussions but also give advice.
This will not only help boost their morals but also help them in
developing a distinction between right and wrong. So for an all
round development of a student and for making him/her a better
individual, it is necessary to combine studies with activities
that will help them in enhancing their skills and abilities and
thus improve their proficiency. Live the true life!
