Lucid dreaming is the art of being able to realize that you are
in a dream state without actually waking up from your dream.
Once you do this, you can you control what you dream about.

Put like that, it sounds simultaneously easy and scary.

After all, dreams are kind of weird anyway. So why would you
want to take control of them?

There are lots of reasons:

* There may be things that you've always wanted to do, but
can't. These often take the form of wild fantasy - going on a
date with Paris Hilton, for instance. Or maybe you want to fly
high above the clouds and look down at the earth from space. For
most of us mere mortals, these are things that qualify as one
hundred percent fantasy. But in a dream state, they are
perfectly feasible. In fact, in your lucid dreams these feats
and more will be easy and seem normal.

* You may want to use your dream time as extra rehearsal for an
important business meeting, a speech you have to deliver or even
something like a driving test. Using the eight or so hours a day
that you sleep to improve your skills, techniques and studies is
a really good way of using this "down time" with very little
extra effort on your part.

* Or you could decide that some dreams are nastier than you
would like them to be - we often refer to these as nightmares -
and you want to be able to turn them around and make them more
pleasant. If your dreams always involve you falling or running
away from vicious people or creatures, learning the art of lucid
dreaming could be the turning point you're looking for.

When you decide to learn the art of lucid dreaming, all of
these scenarios and many more start to become possible.

Start off by writing your dreams down in a journal that you
keep close by your bed. As soon as you wake up, make it a habit
to pick up your dreams journal and write down as much as you can
remember.

Dreams are very slippery. If you don't capture them quickly,
the vivid images you experienced will evaporate into the past,
never to resurface. There will be nothing left apart from the
memory that you "had a good dream last night".

The better you are at keeping this journal and the more dreams
you capture this way, the more you will start to remember what
you dream about. This is the first step to being able to then
control your sleeping hours.

Once you've been keeping a dream journal for a few days, you'll
likely find that you start to remember more and more of your
dreams. You'll find yourself writing more detail. That's a good
sign that you're on your way to being ready to become a master
lucid dreamer, where you will be able to control what you dream
about without waking yourself up in the process.

Every four years, February 29 appears on the calendar and is
traditionally the day when women can propose marriage. This
custom dates from fifth-century Ireland, when the rules of
courtship were stricter. Since many women were waiting too long
for proposals, St. Patrick is said to have granted this
dispensation to them to speed up the process. And this quaint
custom comes into effect again in 2008, as it is a leap year.

If you are planning on "tying the knot" in Leap year here are
ten top places in the USA where you can pop the question.

Arizona's star natural attraction, The Grand Canyon, offers
plenty of proposal options, from a magnificent lookout, to a
hot-air balloon or helicopter ride.

What about the Big Apple? For a proposal with an incredible
view, either take the elevator or climb the 1,860 steps to the
102nd floor of the Empire State Building in New York City. Try
to make it on a clear day, when you can see for almost 80 miles,
or on a clear night, when the city lights will provide a
romantic backdrop for your proposal.

New York City is arguably at its most romantic, when viewed
from a horse-drawn carriage in Central Park. Featured in
countless movies, the carriages start at Central Park South,
between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, at 59th Street.

The magnificent Bridal Veil Falls at Niagara Falls, in New York
State, is a dramatic location to tell him how much you love him.
Then pop the question as you marvel at the sheer power and
beauty of the water as it rushes downward.

Treat him to a trip in a hot air balloon over Lake Tahoe,
California, and propose as you float gently above the beautiful
lake and take in the incredible views.

For a year round warm weather proposal destination head for the
Florida Keys. Key West, Florida, is the perfect place to be at
the end of the day. A proposal here, as the sun sets over the
sea, will be a memorable start to the rest of your lives
together.

The picturesque 80-foot-tall Wailua Falls, on Kauai, in the
Hawaii Islands, are a dream come true, when it comes to marriage
proposals. You can propose at the scenic overlook or take the
path down to pool below, to swim in the cool mountain water
together.

Inspiration Point, at the Grand Teton National Park, in
Wyoming, with its awesome view, would be a breathtaking spot for
your proposal. The Point is reached crossing Jenny Lake boat and
then hiking up the Cascade Canyon Trail.

At St. John, on the US Virgin Islands, Honeymoon Beach hosts
proposals galore. The question can be written in the sand on the
beach or on a diver's board during an underwater adventure.

And finally, don't wait to get lucky on the Las Vegas Strip,
Nevada, just claim your prize with a marriage proposal on a
gondola ride at The Venetian, or during dinner at the Eiffel
Tower at Paris, Las Vegas.

Wouldn't you love to get your car insurance at bargain rates?
There are a number of proven ways to cut your premiums and,
whilst most of them are no secret, many of us neglect to put
them into practice. You just have to know what to do and where
to go and your premiums could tumble.

Cutting the cost of your car insurance is more important than
ever these days. According to the AA's British Insurance Premium
Index, the average annual comprehensive motor insurance premium
is running about £822 annually. That's it's highest rate ever.
But you can cut your car insurance premium in half if you shop
around carefully and pay attention to a few little factors that
can raise or lower your car insurance costs.

1. Shop around.

Shopping around is the key to getting the best possible rate on
your car insurance. Whether you're buying cover for the first
time or renewing your existing policy, you should check
insurance comparison sites to find the best possible deals. Ask
for quotes from a number of different insurance providers - but
be sure that you check the same options with each provider so
that you are comparing like with like.

2. Get quotes from an insurance broker.

Insurance brokers represent many different insurers, so when
you work through a broker, you can check prices from a range of
insurers at the same time. Do keep in mind, though, that your
insurance broker has an agenda as well - and will only tell you
about the insurance providers that he or she represents.

3. Buy directly from the insurer.

When you cut out the middleman, you'll save because there's one
less cut to be taken out of the pie. One way to benefit from
both the variety offered by an insurance broker is to check
quotes through a broker and then get a direct quote from the
insurer's web site.

4. Check multiple quotes through an insurance comparison site.

There are two kinds of insurance comparison sites. One is a
broker site, where many insurers are represented and the web
site owner gets a commission for each referral to an insurance
company. The other type is the independent price comparison
search engine which offers honest comparisons and reviews. You
can apply for quotes online both through the broker site and at
the insurer's own web site and decide which offers you the best
deal.

5. Get quotes for no-frills and internet-only car insurance

If you want comprehensive car insurance but are not bothered
about all of the optional extras included in many policies, you
could save money with simple, no-frills cover. These offer all
the comprehensive cover basics to keep you on the road but cut
out some of the options many drivers never use to save you
money. You could also cut your premiums by using internet-only
insurers who keep their overheads low by only selling and
administering their policies online. They claim that these
savings are passed onto the customer in lower premiums. Again,
the key is to shop around and confirm these claims for yourself.

6. Buy your insurance online - but not before double-checking
your quote on the phone or in person.

Buying online will typically save you 10% to 20% on your
premium, but it's not a hard and fast rule. Be sure to check
with the insurer directly as well though.

Shopping around can really pay off but, keep in mind that there
are other things you can do to cut your premiums as well. The
top five tips for reducing your car insurance premium in
addition to shopping around for the best deal are:

1. Reduce the number of miles you drive annually.
2. Add your partner to your policy.
3. Avoid making claims for small accidents.
4. Pay for your insurance annually.
5. Take an advanced driving course.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
The most basic use of the Sedona method - and the easiest to
pick up - is to ask yourself the three Sedona method questions.

It's probably also the biggest problem experienced by users of
the Sedona method. People ask themselves why just asking a
series of three simple questions over and over again has the
powerful effects claimed. We're so used to things being
complicated in our modern day lives that we sometimes have
difficulty believing this.

The best way to prove to yourself that the Sedona method really
does work is to try it yourself.

Before we come on to the actual three Sedona questions, you
first need to identify a feeling or sensation that is an issue
for you.

If this is the first time you've used the Sedona method, I
suggest that you choose something fairly small. Just a niggle.
It could even be the feeling of doubt that you are currently
experiencing over whether or not the Sedona method will work for
you. It's a lot easier to start this way than to use a giant
problem or issue. You can work up to that later, once you've
shown to your conscious mind that the technique really is as
powerful as their website claims.

Once you've identified the feeling, ask yourself the three
Sedona method questions:

1. Could I let it go?
2. Would I let it go?
3. When?

Answer each question in turn.

Don't take forever answering. Your first response is almost
certainly correct.

If you find yourself taking minutes or even hours to answer
what are basically simple yes or no questions, you're thinking
too much. Stop thinking for a while! In the words of Nike, "Just
do it!"

The fun part is that, so long as you don't sit on the fence,
there are no right or wrong answers to these questions.
Questions 1 and 2 can be answered with either "yes" or "no".
"Maybe" isn't an option. Nor is "I don't know". If you're not
sure whether the answer is yes or no, dive in and give an answer
anyway. Question 3 can be answered with any time period, ranging
from "now, this instant" through to "never - hell will freeze
over first" and all points inbetween.

Then repeat the same questions until you reach a state where
the feeling or problem no longer bothers you. This may be a
couple of times or it may be that you need to answer the same
question ten or twenty times. Whatever feels right is fine.
Don't beat yourself up because you're taking too long on a
particular question. If that happens, it will be happening for a
reason. Go with it. And if you get too frustrated, use the
question set on the frustration instead!

You may well find yourself laughing out loud on the third or
fourth repetition of the questions. That's great if that happens
(but don't sweat if it doesn't). It means that you are releasing
your feelings and instead of them being pent up inside you, they
are allowed to escape and stop irritating you.

Simple isn't it?

================== ARTICLE START ==================
It's simple! Follow the "rules of the road". With few
exceptions, when operating a bicycle on the streets and highways
you must comply with the motor vehicle traffic regulations of
your state and locality. Yes, you have all the rights of a motor
vehicle driver, but you also have the same responsibilities they
do. That means you must drive on the right side of a two way
street, except when overtaking or passing. You must obey traffic
lights and signs. At uncontrolled intersections, remember the
vehicle on the left yields the right-of-way to the vehicle on
the right.

Where bike paths or lanes are available, use them. When
traveling with a group, it is best to ride single file and never
more than two abreast.

Signals are important. Turning right? Extend your right hand
and arm in a horizontal position straight from and level with
your shoulder beyond the right side of your bicycle. Turning
left? Extend your left arm straight and level to the left side
of your bike. For slowing down or stopping, extend your arm
downward to your side. By following the regulations applicable
to motor vehicles (which the law requires you to do, like it or
not), you make it less likely a motor vehicle driver will
misunderstand what you are doing and where you are going. Such
misunderstandings cause accidents.

Wear a helmet! Because head injuries are ordinarily the most
serious type of injury in bicycle accidents, always wear a
helmet when cycling. Your helmet should meet U.S. government
safety standards. Check for the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety
Commission) sticker. Make sure your helmet fits securely and is
level on your head. The straps should be fastened snugly. Worn
improperly, your helmet will not protect you as it is designed
to do. And how old is your helmet anyway? You may need to
replace it if it's more than 20 years old or if it lacks the
CPSC (or ASTM or Snell) label. If the helmet foam is cracked, if
the helmet doesn't fit correctly or if the helmet has been
banged up in a crash, replace it.

Visibility is key! If a motor vehicle driver can't see you, he
won't take steps to avoid hitting you. Wear light colored
clothing that stands out such as yellow or white. Tie a
reflector strap around your pant leg or wear a jacket or shoes
furnished with reflector tape. Attach a lamp to the front of
your bicycle for use at night, during twilight hours, or in bad
weather. A tail light is a good idea as well.

Check your equipment before you ride! Are your brakes in good
repair and are they correctly adjusted? You don't want to ride a
bike with worn brake pads or faulty cables. Are your tires
properly inflated and in good condition? It is always a good
idea to oil your chain regularly and ensure it is in good
working order. Make certain your bicycle seat, handlebars, and
wheels aren't loose, that they fit tightly.

These are just a few tips for safer cycling. Use your common
sense and always remain alert to your surroundings and nearby
vehicles. Bicycling is great exercise and a wonderful hobby.
Just make sure you remember the safety rules while you enjoy the
ride.

Dalyan is 25 km. from Dalaman Airport and 77 km. from Marmaris,
Turkey and its beautiful locale and rich history make it the
ideal destination for a one day boat tour originating in
Marmaris. I would like to give you an idea of what you can
expect when you visit Dalyan.

This is a fantastic boat trip because you will visit one of the
rarest corners on the earth : Dalyan Turtle Beach. This beach is
one of the last breeding grounds of the loggerhead turtles and
it is surrounded by fresh water on one side and salt water on
the other. Sailing on the river boats through the maze-like
passages of Dalyan Delta will surely remind you of "The
Afrıcan Queen". A stop-over at the magnificent Rock Tombs
carved high in the cliff gives you the chance to get all the
information about the resort. And finally there is a "fountain
of youth: in the form of Mud Baths. It is fun, it is
rejuvenating and it, surely, is great chance for an unusual
snapshot.

Without climbing up to the Acropolis in Caunos, it may not be
possible to feel how dangerous were the threats the Caunians
lived under when they founded this city, at an elevation of 152
m. In addition to the striking panaroma, the break points of
your tour will also appear : Amphitheatre, Church, Roman Bath,
Terrace Temple, Fountain and Necropolis.

The City walls surrounding the acropolis, has different
characteristics peculiar to different civilizations and ages,
regarding the form, measurement and workmanship of the stones.
It is hard to notice the distinction between Caunian, Greek,
Persian, Roman and Byzan-tium traces on the same structure. The
Acropolis is on a peak overlooking the southern area and
interior seaport. From this viewpoint it seems easy to imagine
ancient shipyards and merchantmen of that time. This high
altitude point had also been used for rituals, feasts and wine
parties.

One of the best preserved buildings is the Church. A cross on
the entrance still remains. It's 2500 year old domes and marble
columns adorned by religious figures are wonderful. The Roman
Bath was originally designed as complex building divided into
rooms for education, sporting activities and meeting. The
gigantic windows that were been built for athletes to warm up by
sun after a bath with icy waters, also provided them with
dazzling sights. Two columns found in the Terrace Temple were
the first discoveries that started Caunos excavations. The
Temple, which you can't help being charmed by, remains almost as
it was. The inscriptions on its marble columns mention the
Caunian Gods. The most interesting part of this fascinating
Temple is of course the Sacred Stone. It's told that the object
depicted on the ancient coins of the 4th. century B.C.
represents the stone. There are a lots of inscriptions like this
all around.

Love of Byblis : A legendary story

According to an ancient legend, Byblıs was a daughter of
Miletus and Eidothea and sister of Caunus. Byblis was in love
with her brother Caunus. This was a love that could not be
between sister and brother. And as her love grew from day to day
Byblis fell incestuously in love with her brother Caunus and
declared her love to him in a letter. Caunus, horrified,
rejected her. He fled from his sister, but she followed him
through Caria.. He came to this part of Caria and founded the
city of Caunus. As for Byblis, she pursued him as he fled her
but could not find him. She was weeping so much and was about to
die from grief and exhaustion when she was turned by nymphs into
a fountain. This is the legendary story of the origin of the
city of Caunos..

The Human Factor in Architecture

Another majestic building of the city is the Fountain. It is
interesting to note that the Caunians never designed a city
without a fountain. They were used by visitors coming from
distant seas to freshen up. The fountain that also functioned as
a meeting point for women at the time, is now being
reconstructed for the new visitors. The most striking stage of
the journey is the Necropolis. Of 167 tombs, 'The Temple Faced
Ones' engraved into rocky cliffs belong to the noble inhabitants
of Caunos. These Stone King Tombs are the symbols of the city.

So if you are visiting Turkey it is worth seeing Marmaris with
its natural attractions, daily sea excursions, caretta caretta
turtles, and with the possibility of visiting ancient city ruins
such as Cnidos, Caunos, Cleopatra's Island, Loryma and many
others..

People often find working as second nature. After all, through
history we know that we need to work to feed ourselves. More
importantly, working hard has been the central motto of people
looking to find success. As they say working hard is what your
worth is all about.

But is that still true today? People can understand why hard
work is needed at a time where people have to hunt animals and
gather fruits. During those times, you cannot come back home
without food. In the 21st Century, most people still think that
way. But from the philosophy of a smart worker, "hard work pays
off… but it doesn't pay enough."

Jamie McIntyre drives this point in his book "What I Didn't
Learn in School but Wish I Had". He argues that the trends today
do not call for hard workers. Instead, we need people who think.
While millionaires do not undervalue hard work, they certainly
do not find hard work as the beacon of success. Instead, working
smart is just as important, if not more important, than working
hard.

Then what is smart work? Smart work is thinking work. Today,
people get caught up with different pressures in life that they
feel they need to be in tip-top shape to handle every pressure
that comes at them. However, a myopic understanding of hard work
will result to making things harder instead of succeeding. In
the end, a sense of constant struggle will befall the hard
worker who does not find ways out of his predicament or are
unaware of his current situation.

Today the world is built on finding easier ways at arriving at
things. In finding financial freedom, there is always an easier
way. Finding the easy way out is the initial step to smart work.
As we find the path to making things more efficient and
effective for ourselves, we free up time to become more
productive and useful to other people. Thus, smart work becomes
one of the primary tools for achieving financial freedom in this
age.

A Smart Approach

Developing a millionaire's mindset involves a lot of
discernment, decision making, and critical judgment. In short,
being a millionaire requires a lot of thinking. Being your own
CEO by improving your time management skills, efficiency, and
productivity is a thinking process. Being higher up the
financial pyramid requires being smarter than the next person.
There is always a bigger chance for you to outsmart the next
person than outwork them.

Achieving Financial Freedom the Smart Way

Jamie McIntyre explains that hard work can be detrimental and
is not the key to wealth creation and financial freedom.
Definitely, it is as not as valuable as working smart. There are
different examples including Jamie's life that can testify that
smart work pays off a lot more than hard work. By developing his
mindset, he changed his fortune from a young man with too much
debt to a better man with financial freedom. The changing
mindset allows people to set successful financial strategies and
act instinctively with the vision to create wealth.

Being Above the System

Smart work involves questioning your way out of a system
created by the people who control the resources. Breaking into
the group of the haves involves rising above the world system
that most people fall under. Daring to be different in a
responsible and positive way is a never-ending thinking process
to get ahead of the pack.

Smart work is the true pursuit to happiness. Meanwhile, myopic
hard work is admission of defeat. This distinction is more
obvious in the 21st century than ever before. It is our choice
where we want to end up.

Thoughts on College Education

So we have finished our college phase and ready to tackle our
"careers." Ten to twenty years down the line, you still have
your career but you are not getting anywhere. Perhaps a question
should be asked… Is this it? While this may not be a question of
doom, the "it" factor can bring worries to a lot of people.
Having to go to work every living day, ending in a bi-monthly
payment, and getting on with life must have been the ideal life
when you were in college. At this time reality has set in, and
your ideals have been betrayed. It seems like you have been
living in the past.

However, here comes a new idea: 21st century education. What is
it? Is it the hoopla of courses? Maybe a new hip trend? Well
whatever it is, revolutionary seems to be the right word.

21st Century Education as the New Standard

21st century education is a tag name for people that challenges
what classical education is. It dissects the purpose of
education and its value to the well-being of a person. 21st
century education is the gamut of current learning. It is the
application of now rather than what could have been. 21st
century education is a continuing change in mindset in a fast
changing world. It is a tool not only to be with the times, but
to be ahead of the trend.

Thus, in the subject of financial freedom, wealth creation, and
personal management, 21st century education is our guide.
However, it should not be merely a commodity. This learning
comes with a cost, whether we talk money, effort, and time. In
the end, it might be the best investment in your life.

The value of online education as a tool to spread 21st century
education is the essence of continuing internet-based education.
The wonders of the internet from a pod of entertainment to a
reliable source of life changing information has allowed great
people such as Jamie McIntyre to share their knowledge of wealth
creation and financial freedom. Through these medium of online
education classes, professionals and fresh graduates can find
the most significant material in their 21st century perspective
shift.

The New Way

Learning the 21st century way is the essence of internet-based
education. Online education gives students the flexibility of
time that allows us to choose and evaluate information without
being spoon fed by real faculty. At the same time, online
learning allows us a choice of pace. We can wiz through these
lessons or allow days to meditate on the topics such as the
"right attitude about money." In the end, this allows us to be
accountable with our studies and the time that is left free for
us. This practice is training in itself in achieving the value
of 21st century education in the real world.

Continuing education online courses should not be a burden for
us. However, we must not also take these things for granted. A
missed lesson is wasted time, and in achieving financial
freedom, time is money. Online learning is therefore an outlet
for training and principled shaping of our belief to become
wealth creators.

Online learning and training is the trend. 21st century
education is another trend. Together, they are trends that won't
go away. What they offer is values that successful people have.
Therefore, continuing online education courses about 21st
century perspective is our choice to make. It is a choice that
is definitely getting easier by the minute.

Deepak Chopra first became a renowned endocrinologist in the
1980s, and has since blended western medicine with quantum
physics and ancient philosophies to create his own well-rounded
approach to healing. He has written over 35 books, and together
with Dr. David Simon, has created the Chopra Center for
Wellbeing.

Through this center, anyone can take any of the retreats and
seminars that are offered. Topics include Perfect Health, Soul
of Healing, Journey into Healing, Healing the Heart, Emotional
Freedom, SynchroDestiny, Seduction of Spirit, Renewal Weekend,
Secrets of Enlightenment, Seduction of Silence and Grow Younger,
Live Longer.

These programs teach people how to live healthier and develop a
mind-body-spirit connection through the use of meditation,
Ayurvedic therapies, yoga, relationship counseling and healthy
living skills. Programs last an average of five days, and
immerse each participant in the theories and practices that
promote meditation and the raising of consciousness. Programs
cost between $1275 and $4400, depending on how far in advance
you register.

Dr. Deepak Chopra and his staff also travel the world teaching
these seminars. A complete schedule can be found at his website.
If you have the money and inclination, one of the Chopra
programs would fit nicely into a longer vacation.

Those who wish to teach similar topics can take training in
meditation, Ayurveda and yoga. Training is allowed once you meet
the described prerequisites, and pay for the training costs.
Once you are a certified instructor, you can get discounts on
other programs at the Chopra Center for Wellbeing.

The Chopra Center for Wellbeing also has an extensive online
shop. The shop contains products for the home including fine art
and music, along with Ayurvedic products and aromatherapy. One
of the Ayurvedic products Deepak Chopak promotes is called Zrii.

Zrii is a mixture of fruit juices and herbs that provides solid
nutrition, including phytonutrients, amino acids, antioxidants,
trace minerals and more. Zrii is now offering the public the
opportunity to promote Zrii as a business opportunity.

The Zrii company offers a Fast Start Training Bonus for
sponsoring and training new people, and a weekly payment for any
product purchases they make in their first ninety days. The Fast
Start Bonus Pool is paid on a monthly basis. For every five
people you enroll in a given month, you get one share. They also
offer other monthly bonuses that reward you for achieving
various goals.

A phone number is given for support in joining and doing well
in the program. There is no information given as to what it
costs to join, or what you need to do to complete your training.
There is also no information on how they want you to market
their product.

Zrii does offer an incentive trip if you qualify, to visit the
Chopra Center of Wellbeing. There is also a members-only area of
the website. It looks like they are still preparing their big
launch, so if you're looking for a brand new company that hasn't
saturated the market, this one may be worth checking out. If you
prefer a proven track record, you may want to look at something
else.

With the prices of golf equipment where they are today, it only
makes good sense to be custom club fit for your new clubs. Yes,
it may cost you another fee to be club fit for a set of golf
clubs but, trust me; this will be less than 10% of the price of
your new investment. If this still seems like to much money,
find a local PGA professional who will include the cost with a
purchase of a Driver or a set of golf irons. To use the phrase
from Nike, Just Do It. Let me tell you why owning a set of golf
clubs that is built to your specifications is so important.

All golfers are not created equal. Every single golfer is a
little bit different in size, body frame as well as the shape of
their golf swing. A proper custom club fit will result in a set
of clubs that are specifically suited to your height, strength,
club head speed and individual swing characteristics.

What most people do not realize is that off-the-shelf golf
clubs are one-size-fits-few. Approximately 10% of all club
fittings end up with standard specs. Actually golf manufacturers
have changed their standards multiple times over the last ten
years. Since custom fitting has gained popularity with the
average golfer, manufacturing companies have made lie angles
more upright and lofts stronger. This obviously is in an attempt
to help the average to higher handicap golfer.

A club fit can be performed by a PGA Professional. How do you
go about finding the right PGA Professional to fit you? Ask a
lot of questions. Just like you are trying to find a doctor or a
dentist, ask your friends, co-workers and call golf shops. The
proper questions to ask are as follows:

· Is the professional certified by a major manufacturer to fit
their clubs?

· Does the PGA Professional have a fitting cart or multiple
fitting carts with what you are looking for (Mens, Ladies,
steel, graphite, right-handed, left-handed clubs) available?

· How experienced is the PGA Professional?

· Will I be fit outdoors to see the entire ball flight?

Contrary to the belief of many, this does not have to be a
time-consuming or expensive endeavor. A very basic clubfitting
might take as little as 15 minutes, with the average being 30-45
minutes.

As for price, some clubs will give you a fitting free of charge
as long as you agree to purchase your new set from them. Most
charge a modest fee, perhaps $35 to $50 being typical.

Expect to hit many variations of the same type club. For
instance, a well-equipped fitting center might have dozens (in
some cases, hundreds) of a particular club, usually a 6-iron for
men and a 7-iron for women. Each of the 6-irons will be
different from the next in some way.

The idea is to find the best combination of shaft (length, flex
and kickpoint), loft (standard, strong or flat), lie (strong or
flat), grip and swingweight, among other factors.

By watching the ball flight produced by each variation of a
club, and checking chalk marks left on adhesive strips attached
to the clubface and sole, a clubfitter can quickly narrow the
search and lead the student to the best fit.

The club fit procedure can be done for every club in the bag,
including putters, but iron fittings are most common, with
driver fittings following closely behind.

Of course, a proper club fit only works if you follow up by
purchasing a set of clubs custom made to those specifications.
Two things to keep in mind: If you want a set of, for example,
Titleist clubs, the ones you order after a proper clubfitting
will cost approximately the same as the same set bought off the

================== ARTICLE START ==================
If you are like me, you probably have wondered at some point in
time what motivation really was? The textbook definition of
motivation would state it as being an inner process that moves
you unerringly toward the attainment of your goal. That
definition should also include the mental concepts of purpose
and vision. These concepts will play an important role when you
are determining your goal in the first place. The real glue to
building lasting motivation are the cultivation of the qualities
drive and determination. If you are interested you can read...

Some people allow different things to motivate them. It could
be your job, your marriage, your family, your income or your
wealth. What is the definition for motivation for you? If you
can find out definition for motivation to you, then you would
have tapped into your true self and hone in on exactly what it
takes to succeed.

Since the word motivation is equivalent in a lot of ways to the
word "move". It should be readily evident that your life is at a
standstill when your motivational force is not there. This
equates to fear of failure and what keeps people who lack
motivation to remain in the same pattern every day of their
lives.

Self-Motivation and You

It is quite likely that you already have the necessary skills
to motivate yourself in a manner that is effective. Besides
emotion these skills would include being organized,
goal-oriented and disciplined. In fact it could be further
stated that if you have all of these skills now in sufficient
quantities that you have already substantiated a pretty good
definition of motivation for yourself already by becoming the
person you are today.

It all comes down to being consistent in your daily application
of these principles. It is a commonly known and well accepted
fact that it takes approximately twenty one days to form a new
habit. If you find that your level of action is lacking or under
what you think it should be then perhaps you should make a
"change". Commit to spending the next twenty one days thinking
about what you want to do and then following up on those
thoughts with quantifiable action.

Conclusion

So there you have it a definition of motivation that should
serve you well if you choose to accept it and act upon it. You
should have an understanding that self-motivated individuals
reason that things won't always work out. They understand at
those times that the most important thing is to make the most
important thing the most important thing. That is to stay
focused on what they want despite evidence that would suggest
otherwise. They have learned through life experience that
keeping their focus on the prize will always be of assistance in
the long run. They utilize the principle of focusing on what is
wanted right in front of them instead of challenges and/or
problems whose main purpose it seems is to keep you from what
you wish to accomplish.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Just imagine if you were walking your street and came across an
obviously stray dog. Would you know what to do? What not to do?
You could avoid the situation altogether, get nervous thinking
the dog would do you harm or take the dog home and have it be
your new pet. In this scenario you have a few options. The one
you choose will really depend on the fact of you being an animal
lover or not. For the sake of this article we will assume you
chose to take the dog home as a pet. Read more about this . . .

General Tips

Always walk your dog on a leash. This ensures the safety of the
dog, you, walkers, joggers, and people on bicycles. No one wants
to be hurt on either side.

Caring For Your New Dog

There are two important decisions to be made at this juncture
regardless of the dog's breed. You can choose to temporarily
shelter the dog by taking it in out from the elements and at the
same time look for it's rightful owner. Or you can keep it for
your own pet. Again your choice will probably depend on how good
of an animal lover you are.

It will be no easy task to provide care to the stray dog you
have taken in. It will need to be provided with adequate
shelter, food, medical care treatment and animal medical
insurance in some cases. Oh yeah you should also plan to take it
to a veterinarian as soon as possible to get it checked out for
any possible diseases.

You will also want to maintain your dog's health while it is in
your care. To do this you should perform all of the necessary
daily duties required to prevent your pet dog from falling prey
to illness. This includes providing adequate and comfortable
shelter and food. In some respects it could be compared to
raising a small child before they reach the age of being able to
communicate.

Dog Diet Tips

Eating habits are still based on the instinctual habits of the
dog's wild counterparts. some dogs feed on a
"stuff-yourself-or-starve" mode and tend to eat more than they
need when food is made available to them. for this reason,
owners must be in control of their dog's food intake. obesity is
very harmful to your dog's health at any age. it puts undue
stress on vital organs that can lead to serious health problems.
So be a responsible pet owner and monitor your dog's food
intake.

Conclusion

Now that you are armed with this information how will you best
apply it? Just keep in mind that your new pet is also a new
companion that can likewise protect you from harm's way. But
just like anything else that requires time and attention you
should make sure you give your new companion comfortable and
adequate dog care, food, shelter, love and attention. By
following these simple guidelines you can and should enjoy your
new pet immensely.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Mortgages are not without their pitfalls and the
first-time-buyer mortgage market is no different.
First-time-buyers who are not able to put down a deposit on a
property are being hit with huge fees and higher interest rates
by some leading lenders.

While banks and building societies seem to be helping
first-time-buyers get onto the property ladder by issuing
special mortgages that lend up to 100% of a property's value,
borrowers are being forced to pay higher lending fees on these
products, which can cost around £1,500, and are unable to get
access to the cheap interest rate deals offered to other
borrowers.

Borrowers who have the required deposit are able to secure
mortgage products with interest rates more than one per cent
lower than the specialist products developed for new property
owners which are made available through the same lenders.

First-time-buyers are widely considered to be the borrowers who
can least afford to pay such costs when applying for a mortgage.
In recognition of this, many lenders have now stopped charging
higher lending fees on products aimed at people who are trying
to get a foot on the property ladder because of the extra
financial burden.

Some lenders, however, have not scrapped such fees and continue
to charge them on mortgage products that have loan-to-value
ratios above 90 per cent.

The higher lending fee pays for an insurance policy which
protects the lender if the home is repossessed and the bank
makes a loss when selling it. It does not, contrary to popular
belief, provide any protection to the borrower.

With the average property price in the at an all-time high, the
majority of first-time-buyers are struggling to find the
traditional 10 per cent deposit required to buy a property,
which would help prevent them from paying a higher lending
charge. For those individuals who manage to save up enough money
to fund part of the ten percent deposit required, they may still
be required to pay a higher lending charge.

For example, if a buyer had a 5 per cent deposit for a house
worth £100,000, they would require a £95,000 mortgage. For the
money borrowed above 75 per cent of the property price, £20,000,
the bank will charge a higher lending fee.

Some lenders allow the fee to be added to the mortgage, but
interest will be payable on it over the life of the loan, which
could double the cost of the higher lending fee over the
long-term. Additionally, if the borrower has not paid off enough
of their loan balance by the time they are due to remortgage
their home they may be forced to pay another higher lending
charge.

If the home owner chooses to add the second higher lending
charge to the mortgage balance they may effectively be paying
off two fees at once if they have failed to pay off the first
higher lending charge that was added to their home loan. This is
a frightening situation which can be rectified by the borrower
paying for their mortgage fees in cash.

First-time-buyers should therefore be careful in choosing their
mortgage product when attempting to get a foot on the property
ladder and should attempt to cash for any fees that are charged.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Over the years, the truck driver has made for a great series of
stories. Amidst the standard tales of traffic jams, incredible
journeys and more incredible bad driving, when involved with a
freight exchange, you hear the type of outlandish tales more
commonly associated with fishermen. In researching this article,
I found too that lorries and lorry drivers are commonly
associated with horror stories, and tales (and images) too
gruesome to write about here. Suffice it to say, there's an
awful lot of truths and non truths spread in the anecdotes about
truckers.

Here, I've taken three lorry tales– and discovered two of them
to be verifiable truthful. The remaining one is equally exposed
as fake. I'm going to list them all, allowing readers to guess
which is untrue – I shall then provide the specifics of each
one.

A) Elvis Presley was once told to "Stick to driving a truck,
because you'll never make it as a singer."

B) A man was run over by a truck within hours of winning a
lottery

C) The Allman Brothers album "Eat a Peach" is a hidden
reference to Duane Allman's death at the wheels of a lorry
carrying peaches.

Has everyone made their guesses? Okay – here's the answer. C is
an urban legend, while A and B are verifiably correct.

Here's some background information to each lorry story:

Elvis Presley was once told to "Stick to driving a truck,
because you'll never make it as a singer"

While auditioning for a lead-singer position in a Memphis band,
Eddie Bond, 21, informed the 19 year old truck driver, Elvis
Presley that he should "stick to driving a truck, because you'll
never make it as a singer." This is the account of a mutual
friend, while Bond himself claims the club's owners forced him
to make the decision. Either way, Elvis was rejected and left
looking for his big break.

It would come in just a few short months. "That's All Right
(Mama)" was a big hit in Memphis, and Eddie Bond issued an
invitation for Elvis to join them after all. Understandably,
Elvis decided to turn him down – but not to "stick to driving a
truck."

A man was run over by a truck within hours of winning a lottery

When I first heard this one, I immediately thought of the
Alanis Morissette song, "Ironic", which begins with the lines
"An old man turned ninety-eight, he won the lottery and died the
next day." While the subjects of the song are well documented as
not being ironic in the slightest, I did assume that the various
incarnations of this story I've heard must be the same kind of
embellishment as Ms Morissette recorded.

Not true, as it turns out. In January 2004, an Indiana man won
$73,450 on an Indiana lottery, and was run over by a truck
within hours of winning it big. Wearing dark clothing the winner
of a `Hoosier Millionaire competition', Carl Atwood, 73, was
walking round a corner on a poorly lit intersection when he was
struck by the truck, later dying in hospital. On the show, which
was televised, Atwood had expressed his surprise at winning and
stated his plans to "purchase a very nice car."

The Allman Brothers album "Eat a Peach" is a hidden reference
to Duane Allman's death at the wheels of a lorry carrying
peaches.

While it's true that Duane Allman died in a collision with a
lorry in Georgia (a state associated with peaches) months before
the release of the "Eat a Peach", and it's also true that the
album art does show a truck with a giant peach on board labelled
"Allman Brothers", the album is not a direct reference to the
death of the talented young guitarist.

The truth is the lorry that Duane Allman collided with was a
flatbed truck with a lumber crane. Suffering no externally
visible injuries, Duane held onto life immediately following the
crash before dying in surgery with massive internal injuries
three hours later.

The album's title is less interestingly a reference to a
comment Duane once made in a magazine interview. When asked how
he was helping the revolution, Allman replied that "…every time
I'm in Georgia, I eat a peach for peace."

Fans of the band have also suggested that the album's reverse
cover art – an image of a vehicle carrying a giant watermelon –
was a reference to fellow band member Berry Oakley's similar
motorcycle accident at the wheels of fruit lorry is also
revealed as falsehood, first by the fact that he collided with a
bus, and secondly that his death was 9 months after the release
of the album. Any hidden message would therefore be an
inaccurate feat of clairvoyance.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
The Alfa Romeo Spider first was introduced back in 1966 at the
Geneva Motor show, where it was hailed as an instant classic by
the auto-public. But at the presentation it was still an unnamed
masterpiece, but that was about to change when the results of a
competition in Italy produced the name "Duetto", and since it
first name, history would show that with every change and new
series it was re-christened by another alias. But the first
Spiders now are referred to as the 105 series Spider/ "Classic"
Spider and it was created using the body style of the classic
2-seat roadster.

The original design of the car was done by Pininfarina, who
also played a big part in the car's manufacturing, due to the
car's unique monocoque creation; which is the incorporation of
"crumple zones" at both the front and the rear. The Alfa Romeo
Spider have gone through a lot of changes over its almost 3
decade history, both mechanically and aesthetically; with these
changes occurring every couple of years, it kept the Spider
appealing to all audiences, and it made the Spider stay
constantly unique when compared to even itself.

The Spider's basic proportional blueprint consisted of a length
of 4255mm (167.5in) Duetto; a curb weight of 996 kgs (21906 lbs)
Duetto; a wheelbase of 2250mm (88.6in) Duetto; a height of
1295mm (51in) Duetto; and a width of 1626mm (64in) Duetto. The
Spider also came outfitted with a five-speed transmission, disc
brakes, and independent front suspension. The engine of the
Duetto was a form of the 1570cc Alfa Romeo Twin Cam, 4-cylinder
engine, and outputted just about 109hp (81kW). The original
Spider Duetto ran from 1966-1967.

The 1750 Spider Veloce replaced the Duetto in the latter part
of 1967 with a 1779cc engine outputting 118PS (116hp or 87kW),
and a torque of just 186N·m (137 ft·lbf). A new, smaller engine
Spider was introduced in 1968; the 1300 Junior with a 1290cc
engine with a max power of 89hp (66kW), but it was devoid of
most of the first features of 1750 Veloce e.g. plastic headlight
fairings, hubcaps, the brake servo, and the opening
quarter-light. The 1st Series of the Spider, which included the
original Duetto ran from 1966-1969, and became known by its
alias of "Ossa di Sepia" or "Cuttlebone fish".

The 2nd Series of the Spider ran from 1970-1983, and was also
known as "Fastback" or "Coda Tronca". The first major change was
to the exterior of the 1750 Veloce, with the typical elongated
round tail being remade into an ordinary cut-off tail know as
the "Kamm Tail". The other appearance changes came from top
hinged pedals; new door handles; a more raked windscreen;
refined interior trim; a slightly different grille; and more
luggage space. In 1971, the 2000 Spider Veloce was born with a
new engine replacing the 1750 with a 1962cc, 132hp (98kW). The
1600 Junior was also given life also replacing the Junior 1300
with 1570cc engine outputting 110PS (108hp or 81kW).

The Series 3 Spider ran from 1983-1990 and was dubbed the
"Aerodinamica". In 1982 was the launch of the new "2.0 litre
Bosch fuel injection", which replaced the "SPICA mechanical
injection". Also in that same year the Aerodinamica 2000 was
born with a 1962cc engine with a max power of 128PS (126hp or
94kW) and a torque of 178N·m (131 ft·lbf). Alfa also introduced
the "Green Four-leaf Clover" or "Quadrifoglio Verde" model in
1986, with many aesthetic changes to the exterior, but with the
exact same engine of the regular 2000 Spider Veloce.

From 1990-1993 the 4th Series and its first important
mechanical change was introduced with the "Bosch Motronic
electronic fuel injection with an electric fan". Other
appearance changes occurred, also on the Type 4 Spider but the
entire production of the Alfa Romeo Spider came to a sad end in
1993. However, a "Limited Edition Spider Commemorative Edition"
was made for the North American market in May 1993 and was
identified as a 1994 model.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
When I set out to write my book, A Place to Belong, I didn't
have the slightest notion as to how I was going to approach this
task. I had never written anything in my life that extended
beyond a normal letter or reports that I had to submit for my
job or school. Now, I'm sitting down to write a story about my
life? Oh, Lord, I need help! Lots of help!

Thirty-five minutes staring at the computer and thumping my
fingers on the key board, I said to myself, "Okay Paul, here is
what you're going to do. Don't worry about spelling,
punctuation, grammar or anything else right now. Just get the
words on to the paper! I'll edit the whole thing later." And,
that is exactly how I approached this immense task. It took me
three months to get the story on paper and six years to correct
it. That's right, six years.

As I read over the original story, I laughed, felt very
humiliated and rather stupid. I used urine for urn, many times
to for too and too for to, quite for quit and several more. One
item that made me gasp for air was, one paragraph ran on for ten
pages. "Oh Paul, what have you done to the Queen's English?"

My seventeen-year-old daughter was a senior in high school at
the time and I had her read what I wrote each night. She would
come back and tell me I needed to sign up at her school for an
evening class in English writing and grammar. (Got her sarcasm
genes from her father). She returned the manuscripts to me full,
and I mean full, of red marks where she had made corrections. I
knew she was right, but I just wanted her to read the story and
I accepted her corrections freely.

I was introduced to a young lady, through a mutual friend of
ours, who edited material for the University of Georgia on a
part-time basis. I asked her to read my story and give me her
thoughts, feelings and ideas. I was stunned! She loved the story
and committed to helping me do the editing. Said I needed 'lots
of help', but that she thought in several areas, my writing was
very good and I had a unique touch for describing scenes,
actions and characters to the point that the reader gets to
feel, see, taste and experience the scene. Her comments gave me
solid confidence in my role as an author and great expectations
for the book. I felt very fortunate.

We would meet every other Tuesday at a coffee shop and discuss
the homework she gave me from the previous week and how I felt
it related to the book. She would give me more homework to do
for the next meeting. Sometimes I felt like a ninth grade
English student. But her assignments, as I came to learn, gave
me meaningful insight and a larger scope of usage of all my
characters, my motives, and the direction I was going, and
ultimately, gave the story better continuity.

For example; she made me write a minimum of one page on each
character. When writing about my Dad, I had to describe his
walk, smell, and any daily habits or routines that came to my
mind. How does he reply to my questions? Does he grunt, groan,
no answer, a look, ignore me completely or what? How does he
eat, fast, slow, chew excessively, chew little, burp when he is
done and does he say excuse me or nothing at all? How does he
sleep? On his left side, right side, stomach or on his back?
Does he snore? Sleep silently, talk, mumble, grunt or groan? I
was astounded how much this helped me to place each character in
perspective within a scene or a specific situation. By knowing
them now, so well, I was able to deduce whether they were excess
baggage or they were very necessary.

I admired her willingness to listen to my objections to certain
words or phrases she wanted me to use. If she felt I was wrong,
she would tell me so. Most of the time I took her advice, for I
felt she was the pro and I was the student.

I owe much to that lady and acknowledge such in my book.

Once she and I felt every period was in its right place, every
paragraph justified and every chapter was where it belonged, I
set out to find a Literary Agent and/or a Publisher. I thought
the writing was a huge task, but getting your work noticed by
the publishing world was like writing, only now it's times ten
to the tenth power.

I have a stack of rejection letters eighteen inches high. If
your name is not Brown, Patterson, Albom or Silva, agents or
publishers do not want to talk to you. You are not a money
making machine for them. And at my age, they figure he's not
going to be a very good investment anyway. So, you get slips
that say; not interested, not our genre, not for us, sorry,
needs lots of work, you don't start off a story at a party. (I
still don't understand what that agent meant by that remark)
looks good, but try someone else. There were many others that
implied the same message.

It's demeaning, frustrating, irritating and down right
depressing. What really upsets one is that you know that the
recipient has not read the book. I have heard stories from
agents and publishers that claim the office staff of most
publishers and agents developed a procedure whereas a minimum
wage clerk opens the package, dumps the manuscripts/books, takes
your SASE, if there is one, inserts a piece of paper that
states; "Sorry, not for us." How do they know that they didn't
just toss away the book of the decade? They don't and they don't
care. They receive so many requests that they can't possibly
read and reply to each one. Somebody, somewhere, sometime has to
address this problem. The man picking up the trash is going to
have the bestseller one day.

According to the website for Cover the Insured website, one of
the highest age groups that are uninsured is made up of men and
women in the 21- to 44-year-old bracket. According to the
Chicago Tribune, 70 million Americans are underinsured.
Sixty-one point nine percent (61.9%) of full-time workers are
uninsured. According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute,
health care costs have increased steadily since the 1960's at a
rate of a 10% increase per year.

A study by Harvard University researchers found that 50% of all
bankruptcy filings were partially the result of medical
expenses. Many people go into debt and have bad credit due to
unpaid medical bills. If an unexpected event occurs that causes
you to lose your job or become ill you could end up homeless.
You should have some type of insurance no matter what your
salary. Here are 3 benefits to having insurance:

1. Insurance can be used to reimburse for a loss that occurs

2. Insurance protects against harm to something or someone

3. Insurance saves you money in the future

There are several types of insurance available: life, health,
dental, home, auto, fire, flood, credit card insurance,
disability (short term and long term), and many more. The basic
types of insurance everyone should have are: health, life and
disability. All three actually work together. Health insurance
is needed if you develop a health condition or need to go to the
emergency room. Disability insurance is used if you have a
short-term or long-term medical condition that prevents you from
working and ensures that you still continue to receive a
paycheck, usually at least 60% of your salary. Life insurance is
used in the event a family member dies.

When buying insurance it is best to comparison shop. You can
contact the Better Business Bureau or search their website for
companies and view their reliability report. If your employer
does not provide health, life or disability insurance you can
purchase insurance on your own. Go to eHealthInsurance to get
quotes on affordable health insurance.

If you need health insurance for your children visit the Insure
Kids Now site. For information on disability insurance, visit
Assurity company's website. If you cannot afford to purchase
insurance, make sure you get enough rest, eat well and exercise.
Try to get a part-time job to pay for insurance costs.

If you are able to purchase additional types of insurance such
as home owner's insurance, auto or fire insurance, it is best to
purchase bundled packages or several insurance policies with the
same company, such as insuring multiple cars with the same
insurance company.

Many companies give you a discount if you purchase multiple
products, but you have to ask for it. Purchasing bundled
packages or multi-line policies can result in a savings of 1% to
20% depending on the company, versus buying home owner's
insurance with one company and auto insurance with another
company. You can comparison shop online with companies such
Bankrate or Progressive. You may not see the immediate benefit
of buying insurance now, but in the long run you will be glad
you did.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Let's start with Janice, a typical mom with special concerns:

Janice sat on the front stoop with her head in hands. The rays
of the setting sun were streaming in through the rose trellis
but on this evening she didn't even notice the fragrant shadows
dancing in the golden light. She just needed to get out of the
house, away from him and away from the fighting.

"I dearly love my kids but sometimes I hate being a mom," she
had confided to her best friend, Kelly, over coffee just that
morning. "I feel like I am constantly fighting them over
something. If it's not the TV or video games then it's homework
or money or chores. That's bad enough with the older two but
when Tyler refuses to do his medical treatments it just sends me
over the top. He knows that if he doesn't take care of his
lungs, he'll die but I don't think he cares." Tears welling up
in her eyes, Janice continued, "He's sixteen and will soon be on
his own. When he turns eighteen, the doctors can't even give me
any information about how he is doing. Without me there to nag
him into compliance, I know that he is going to take years off
his life. He just doesn't get it. I don't know what to do. I'm
worn out and I feel like a complete failure as a mom." Kelly had
nodded and gently patted Janice's hand. "It sounds like you are
having a hard time. Hang in there; you're a great mom. It will
get better…"

Janice sat on the stoop recalling Kelly's encouraging words but
she was having a hard time believing things would really get
better. She'd been here before. Sure, things improved for a
little while but then Tyler would do something to trigger
another crisis. She recalled the last one: when she had
discovered that he was throwing his meds into the garbage can at
school. One of the students discovered the pills and reported it
to the school officer. There were plenty of rumors flying around
about the discovery of the drugs until one of Tyler's buddies
recognized the pills as pancreatic enzymes. Even up to the end,
Tyler refused to 'fess up. And then there was that time when the
school bully made fun of him because of his cough. Tyler decked
him and was suspended for three days. Tyler was clearly having a
hard time coping with having cystic fibrosis.

Janice just didn't know how to talk with him anymore. She
sighed. Kids today give parents enough to worry about: sex,
drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, cutting. But, when there are
life and death medical issues on top of it all, it seems like
just too much.

"How did it come to this?" she whispered to herself. She
remembered when Ty was a little boy. He was so eager to please
that it didn't take too much effort to get him started on his
meds. Oh sure, he'd hem and haw every now and then but she'd
promise him a special treat and he'd comply. It didn't take long
until he began demanding, "Where's my treat?" upon completing
his medications. Janice, also eager to please, made sure she had
a plentiful stock of candies and small toys on hand.

This bribery thing had bothered Janice a little. She kind of
felt like he was holding her hostage but "kids need to be
motivated; I'll do whatever it takes to get him to comply."
Besides, she didn't want to make his life tougher than it
already was; she felt really bad for him. And, if truth be told,
she really didn't have the will to fight him. It was so much
easier just to give him the treat. Unfortunately, the treats
starting getting bigger and bigger: a new snowboard for a
month's worth of treatments; a trip to Disneyland after a
hospitalization for IV meds.

Tyler always wanted more and rarely seemed grateful. He could
easily bring his mom to her knees with a simple refusal to take
his life-saving medications. To make matters worse, Ty blamed
her when things didn't go right or when he got sick! There was
no question about who was in control of the home but Janice was
out of ideas. And energy. She was simply worn out.

Special parenting skills are needed when raising kids with
health issues. Both the stakes and the emotions can run very
high - a potentially dangerous combination. Kid's lives are
saved when they are protected by their parents. Kid's lives are
lost when they are over-protected by their parents. If
protection is not the major portion of love shown in the early
years, the infant dies. If protection is a major part of the
love parents show teens, they become hostile, dependent and
usually, rebellious. That rebellion may lead to car accidents,
drugs, and death.

Protection, like all good things, has a dark side when
delivered too freely. In fact, protection could be one of the
best examples of: "Too much of a good thing is not a good
thing!"

Toddlers don't have the capacity to be more concerned about
maintaining good health than the parents so parents must
shoulder most of the concern about health issues in toddlerhood.
Depending upon the maturity of the child, by the time a child is
in first and second grade, they should be shouldering more of
the concern about their health than the parents. Certainly by
the time most children are in third grade and eight-years-old,
they are well aware of their health problems.

When children suffer from illness or medical conditions, they
need more protection. Parents understandably fall into checking
on medication dosage and timing, managing dietary concerns,
scheduling trips to the physician's office, and become much more
involved in their children's health than the parents of well
children. Depending upon the medical condition, its severity and
the character of children and the parents, the line between
necessary protectiveness and over-protection can become very
blurred. The problem is compounded by the fact that the more a
person is protected, the more he or she comes to need it. So
giving protection, whether it is bestowed by loving parents or
the federal government generally leads to a spiral of
ever-increasing involvement with the associated risk of
ever-increasing entitlement and hostile dependency.

When people are hostile dependent, it means they feel helpless
or cheated and always demanding more while expecting others to
give it to them, rather than accepting the responsibility for
taking care of their own wants and needs. They can become angry,
bitter, blaming, rebellious and hostile. And when children
become rebellious and hostile, they often become
self-destructive. For a child, what could be more effective to
upset loving parents than to refuse to take good care of
yourself? What causes more parental angst than a child who takes
drugs or ignores medical regimens? So the parents of ill
children can feel boxed in between the rock of unchecked illness
and the hard spot of attempting to control the health of an
increasingly resistant child.

This sad cycle is so common that it might almost be considered
"normal" for kids with serious health concerns. But happily,
with the right techniques, it is less likely to occur. So how do
parents avoid raising hostile-dependent children? And how can
parents best insure that their child is "respectful, responsible
and pleasant to be around?" There are many good answers that are
effective for most children most of the time. Those answers
include how parents should encourage rather than praise their
children; how they can develop problem-solving skills in their
children; how parents show empathy rather than anger before
allowing consequences to fall and include techniques that avoid
showing parental frustration. It truly takes a book to clearly
define all the answers but here are some guidelines:

- Entitlement begins when children no longer say "thank you" to
giving parents.

- Hostile Dependency shows when children are angry when parents
don't fix the child's problem.

- When children demonstrate a higher ability to perform tasks
for others than they show at home, then parental over-protection
and low expectations is the usual cause.

- Children who are blaming attempt to manipulate and increase
parental guilt in order to control the situation.

- Wise parents do not excuse disrespect, for it sets the
foundation for their child's hostile and self destructive
behavior.

Finally, we rejoice in the fact that protection of others has a
positive side. A shining aspect of the human soul sparkles when
we act on our desires to help one another out of difficult
situations, even at our own detriment. On a deep level,
sacrifice for another may actually be a gift we give ourselves.
When we see a person who has lived a sacrificial life for
others, our own soul confirms, "That's a sweet person who
deserves a special place in heaven!"

But too much sugar leads to a death from diabetes.

Excerpt From Bucky Covington
Top 10, Season 5

If you asked me what my favorite subject was in high school,
I'd have to be honest and tell you flat out — it was lunch. I
wasn't into the books very much. In fact, I wasn't into them at
all. I didn't need to have my head buried in books and world
maps because the map of my own life was already planned out for
me. Carved in stone the day I was born, actually.

When I got out of high school, I'd head up Mill Road to the
body shop where my grandpa and dad worked the 9-to-5 and did
very well for themselves in our small town of Rockingham, North
Carolina. My twin brother, Rocky, and I carried on the respected
tradition of the Covington men. I couldn't break the tradition
that had been in our family for over fifty years. They were
counting on me to keep the shop growing, and the way I was
raised in the South, you do what is expected of you and never
disappoint the people you love — you just don't.

And so, I didn't.

Ten years passed, and one morning my faithful alarm clock rang,
as it did every morning. I woke to the silence of our small
town. Not too much stirs at 7:30 here, other than the sound of
an old dog barking or my mom's kettle whistling on the stove. My
routine was the same as it had been for the past decade, and
with each passing morning, I wrestled more and more with the
thought of doing it again and again . . . and again.

I could practically do it with my eyes closed, and that feat of
mastery bothered me every waking minute of every day. I took no
pride in the simplicity of my life. Something was empty.
Something was missing — for me, anyway.

This morning was no different in some respects. My thoughts
were elsewhere as usual, and not on Mr. Thompson's '87 pickup
that needed sanding in an hour.

But today, I was charged with excitement as I rolled out of bed
and into the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror, focused
on one thing. How do I tell my father that I have just learned
the American Idol auditions have been moved from Memphis to our
home state of North Carolina? I had thought long and hard about
going to Memphis, but the trip would've been too expensive, and
there was no way I could leave my father shorthanded at the shop
for over a week. But then yesterday my sister-in-law called . .
.

"Bucky!" she said. "The auditions have been moved to
Greensboro! You can go now!"

I knew at that very moment that everything in my life could
change. Greensboro was just an hour away and I knew this was
fate calling me. I took it as a sign. I'm not sure if it was an
angel or the Big Man himself, but deep down, I knew what I had
to do. It burned inside of me. My hands were willing to go sand
that old truck, but my heart told me something very different.
It told me to sing.

Back in the bedroom, my old shirt and shorts were lying in a
heap on the floor. I threw them on and punched my fist into my
dirty baseball cap. I went into the kitchen, packed myself a
lunch, and headed out the back door, letting the old wooden
screen slam behind me. I jumped into my beat-up Chevy truck,
started it up with a pair of vice grips, and headed out onto the
one road where I had spent my life — Mill Road. My entire family
did everything on this road. Covingtons lived on it, worked on
it, and raised families on it. As I pulled my truck onto the
trusted blacktop, I could think of only one thing — to get as
far away from Mill Road as I possibly could. Sure I loved it,
but I knew in my heart there were bigger roads for me to travel,
and I was praying my music would guide me to them.

I drove to Bojangles drive-thru and ordered my usual — a
sausage biscuit with jelly and a large sweet tea. I sat in the
parking lot listening to the morning DJ while I waited for Rocky
to meet me. His truck pulled in, and together we headed to the
dusty garage that housed four bays.

I sanded three cars that day, and all I could hear was the
voice in my head, I am done! Man, I got to get out of here! It's
funny because I loved the body shop. I loved working with my
brother, father, and cousin. And yet, all the while, I'd just
hear that voice, Bucky, you gotta get out of here and go do
music!

I was counting on my father to understand my story because he
had gone through it himself. He had been an amazing athlete and
a great football punter back in high school. There was only one
guy that could outpunt him in the state, and he ended up playing
for the Washington Redskins. I only hoped my dad would
understand as we sat down together.

It was the end of the day before we had a chance to talk. When
I saw my dad putting away his tools after finishing up the last
job, I took a deep breath and walked over to him.

"Dad, do you ever think back on your life when you played ball?
Do you ever think that maybe you should've taken that chance and
gone pro?"

My father didn't utter a word. He just looked me in the eye and
listened.

"Do you ever look back and think maybe you should've tried,
Dad? Maybe you should've taken that one chance?"

His eyes filled with tears. "My life is good, Bucky. I'm okay
with it. I have three great kids. I'm very happy with what I've
chosen."

"Dad, I just don't want to wake up one day when I'm forty years
old and say, What if? What if I had taken that chance and dared
to leave the body shop? I don't want that feeling haunting me
for the rest of my life."

I remember the silence in the shop as I continued.

"Dad, I need a yes or no answer. Do you think I should go?
Honestly, what do you really think my chances are if I go to
Greensboro?"

He just looked at me. Then, wiping his dirty hands with a
ripped-up old rag, my dad spoke slowly and from his heart.

"Bucky, not only do I think that you have as good of a shot as
anybody, I think you've got to go. You can't stay here and
wonder your whole life, son. You gotta listen to that voice
inside of you and go. I'll be fine here at the shop. We'll
manage. Walk out that door and go sing, Bucky. Just go!"

So I went. First I went home and packed a bag, then I loaded my
truck, and, with my father's blessing, I drove slowly out of
town on ol' Mill Road. I knew every crack in the pavement. I
thought about all the balls I had caught on it, and all the bike
racing I'd done on it. I headed down that trusted road and
prayed my fate would be at the other end. Not knowing where the
road would take me, I pulled my strength from my father's
parting words:

"And Bucky, you're gonna be great."

Depending on the program and university involved, there is
currently a wealth of online accredited degrees available. The
job market is so competitive nowadays that people are going back
to school to get associates, bachelors and masters degrees in
droves. In fact, getting more education on an ongoing basis is
becoming mandatory for anyone interested in advancing their
career. The days of working for one company for 20 or 30 years
with limited education and retiring with a hefty pension are
long gone.

Online accredited degrees have been available for quite some
time, but the devil is in the details. Is the accreditation on
the the state, regional or national level? How much does it cost
to attend? Online degree programs have traditionally been
expensive, the good news it that with increasing competition
among so many accredited online universities, the price of
online education is going down. In addition, many traditional
bricks-and-mortar universities are offering online courses as
well as their regular curriculum in the form of continuing adult
education programs. The cost of these online courses are
often-times much less that those offered by universities that
are online only.

Individuals who have completed a large portion of their degree
program(s) already but have dropped out for financial or other
reasons may be the ones who benefit most from current trends.
You may be surprised upon submitting your completed hours and
work history to either an online or traditional institute of
higher education how little it may take to advance to the next
degree level. I can speak from personal experience that this is
so. I am currently completing a BS degree after finding out that
I only have two courses to take, in combination with my work
experience and already completed courses at a number of
universities I have attended. The sad part is that I waited so
long before I checked into what I needed to complete my degree.
Please people, don't make the same mistake I made. As the old
saying goes: "You don't know how you look until you get your
picture took!" If you take the first step and look for available
degree programs, you will discover that there are an abundance
of professional counselors available to help you free of charge.
There are also many scholarships, grants and loans out there for
people wishing to complete degrees in any area of study.
Untapped funds are waiting for those who take the initiative.

It is important to do your homework before applying to any
college, online or otherwise. Investigate a number of
universities, find out the level of accreditation for your
particular area of study and what it costs. Your best bet may be
to look for a local state-funded university that offers online
courses. Private universities, both online and traditional,
collect most of their funding from students while state
universities collect as much as 75% of the cost of a degree
program from state taxes.

Depending on your area of study, you may need to attend some
classes on campus. This is especially true of technical or
engineering degrees. Whatever your continuing education goals
are, start planning today. As difficult as higher education is,
working in a position that is not suited to your true talents
and capabilities, will in the long run be the most difficult
option.

When you are about to buy kitchen appliances and fixtures for
your new home, it becomes obvious that you have to be wise in
spending and carefully plan to keep your costs under control.
These items are such that they consume more money if you do not
make a wise decision and finally at the end of the day you will
find that you have crossed your budget. One of the smart way is
to decide before you begin your shopping is to make a proper
list of what are your requirements and what is your budget.
People tend to spend more as they go to the big malls where the
products are lined up in such a way, that it can attract anyone
who are on a shopping spree. When you see all those high tech
gadgets lined up, it is difficult to stop the temptation from
buying. Unfortunately, the heart often takes over when looking
over the latest high-tech gadgets and features on the item being
considered and results in the purchase of a much more expensive
item than is truly needed. So take some time to decide exactly
what your spending limit is before you even begin to shop and
then stick to your guns on that decision all the way through the
buying process.

I have a better idea, to refer to the internet as the guide to
make your choice, the current portals on appliances such as
Canada appliances, offers you prices as that of warehouse and
features of the various models of appliances that you can choose
from and make a comparative study to fit your needs. If you are
tired of the entire days hard work at your job or business and
you cannot bear the endless wait at the malls, then this website
can certainly help you to make the right choice. More over
information provided on the website also helps you to decide,
which model will be perfect for you. In other words, invest your
hard-earned money into essentials not features. Always opt for
better quality over more features too.

Last week, we were in requirement of a good refrigerator, since
a old refrigerator was not working properly. I remember going to
many shopping malls looking a perfect one for us. We did our
survey for three consecutive weekends and still we were not
coming to any conclusion. At some places, price was a matter of
concern and some place they did not had the desired model. Then
some one told us about this website Toronto appliances, where I
simply logged into this website and went to columns where they
had lined up different refrigerators. I asked my wife to join me
and then we did our comparisons and finally we concluded that we
will go for a refrigerator from Frigidaire. We ordered the
product online and it was shipped on to our doorstep within two
days. The website helped us in giving entire information on
issues such as payments, after sales service, warranty issues
and so on. We were really happy with the kind of prompt sales
service that we were provided with, that we decided not to just
lay your hand on the nearest dealer or home depot. Be smart to
make an online purchase at Toronto appliances. to avoid the
sales tax and get it shipped at your home for a marginal amount.
The end of season sales generally involve long queues and you
can benefit from the sales benefits of this portal right in the
comfort of your home.

Finally, consider the warranty on the items you want to buy. In
the traditional shopping way you will have to ask so many
questions pertaining to the warranty and then, will you have to
send the appliance out to be repaired under warranty? or is home
repair covered under the warranty contract? But when you have
your order shipped from Toronto appliance, they give you full
assurance of the quality of the product and the service that
they render once it needs any repairs is remarkable. We had a
minor problem with the compressor of the refrigerator and the
service men were very prompt to reply and handled it within a
week. Now that's what I would term as giving customer
satisfaction like the way they promised it at the time of
purchase

The time is always drawing near. It's that day for sweethearts
and romance. If you have a special someone in your life, then
you'd better not forget. Valentines Day is that special time for
you to express how much you truly care. Now comes the hard part.
What do you choose when weeding through the many gifts for
Valentines? If there's one thing you can rely on, it's that all
of the restaurants will be packed and you'd better have
something else to offer. Luckily, gifts for Valentines can be
found practically anywhere. For married people you even have
more choice, these can be a good pick of Kitchen appliance which
she always wanted.

When in search of that perfect gift for Valentines Day, you
will probably journey out to the local mall for a fun day of
browsing through the numerous crowded stores for the ideal gift.
Well, we all know that's not exactly true. In reality, if you're
male, you will wait until the last minute and hit a few shops
that haven't closed yet, in a desperate search of gifts for
Valentines. If you want to avoid this embarrassing feat that
only leads to a mediocre gift at best, you can try the Internet.
Cyberspace will provide you with infinite gifts for Valentines.
Don't break your back at the last minute. Valentines Day is
supposed to be fun, not stressful. I tried one site Toronto
appliance where I was surprised to see many different brands
appliances at very reasonable prices. They provide products at
warehouse rates which makes them one of the cheapest in the
market.

Back in the day, like a few years ago, I would always hit up
the mall jewelry stores for Valentines Day. Like most other men,
I was in search of that sweet little something that wouldn't
break the bank. I mean come on, it was just Christmas. After
sorting through hundreds of ear rings and bracelets, I usually
settled for what was reasonably priced, yet somewhat nice. That
was in the past, now that my lady love is my wife and more
matured in terms of being the boss of the house, she like to
have things that she can use on a daily basis, the best way to
make her happy is keep a watch on her and find out which
appliance she needs the most and buy that appliance for her on
special occasions like the Valentines day, Wedding anniversary,
Birthday and so on. This year she was planning to buy a coffee
maker, I knew it she always wanted that because she likes coffee
very much. I began surfing the Internet for and luckily one of
my friends told me about this website. I surfed the website's
cooking product section where you can find different brands of
kitchen appliances, I found this good coffee maker from Bosch, I
checked out the features of different models of coffee maker
machine and finally decided to buy one. I got the machine in
time and gave it as a present to my wife. She liked the machine
very much and I was happy to see her feel happy. The first time
I found that perfect gift for Valentines Day, I was dumbfounded.
What had I been doing the past few years? The Internet became my
closest friend. When in search of gifts, hop on to Toronto
appliances the selection is incomparable. You will be amazed at
the cut in prices.

The very 1st state prison in the United States was founded
before there were states at all, let alone united ones.
Connecticut's New-Gate Prison, originally a copper mine, was
began it's role as a detention center in the fall of 1773 as the
colony's public "gaol" and workhouse.

It was called New-Gate after the fearsome prison of the same
name in England. During the early years of the American
Revolutionary War it held captured loyalists and torries. It was
also a Prisoner of War facility in the American Civil War.

The people of Connecticut were no less concerned with budget
over-run in the late 18th century than we are today, so the
supposed "self-sufficiency" of New-Gate was very appealing.
Copper could still be mined from the dank tunnels that made up
the prison, allowing prisoners to pay for their own upkeep.

In addition, the structure of the prison, i.e. two shafts, a
couple of iron trap-doors and a veritable dungeon of mine
tunnels, meant that a minimal staff would be needed. This
included the warden or "Keeper" three guards or "overseers" and
a few skilled miners, paid from the prisoners salaries, to
instruct the prisoner on the finer points of copper mining.

Surely such a prison was a model of efficiency and security;
it's a shame then that the very 1st prisoner escaped in less
than a month.

On December 22nd of 1773, John Hinson was the 1st man
incarcerated in Connecticut's new New-Gate Prison. Little is
known about Hinson, other than that he was 20 year-old and stood
5'6" tall. Even his crime has been forgotten, though it must
have been serious; the New-Gate was reserved for burglars,
horse-thieves, counterfeiters, highwaymen and other such
hard-cases.

What is known is that on January 9th John Hinson escaped,
possibly using his compact size and the vigor of youth to climb
up a 70-foot well shaft, but more probably aided by an
accomplice on the outside with a length of rope and a bit of
cash to bribe an overseer.

One rather romantic (and unsubstantiated) tale involves his
beautiful ladylove coming to his rescue. The only certainty is
that if he was ever imprisoned in Connecticut again, then those
records have been lost.

Three months later three more convicts escaped, leading local
authorities to grudgingly admit that some sort of wall may be
necessary. With the addition of a stone enclosure and a few more
guards the prison became far more secure, though it never quite
lived up to its initial boast of being escape-proof.

For the next 54-year of its operation some 800 hard-timers
lived and worked in Connecticut's largest state-operated
dungeon. It wasn't until 1827 that the New-Gate was abandoned as
a permanent detention facility, though it did see limited
military use in the Civil War.

A new, nominally less medieval prison was built in Wethersfield
and the prisoners were transferred there. Presumably the
prisoners regarded this as an improvement in their situation. No
matter how dismal the new prison was, at least it wasn't
subterranean.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Your ego is both inspiring and full of deceit, on the surface
it appears to be helping you, it gives you small boosts of
gratification when you succeed and that helps keep you going,
however on the flip side it is also one of the biggest
hindrances you will face in life. You see your ego just wants
you to be safe, to have fun and to be the best, however what it
doesn't realize is that failure can be a good thing. In fact,
your ego hates failure, it loathes nothing more, and this is
where most people go wrong in their career, health and
relationships.

Your ego hates failure so much that it puts up protective
barriers against it, it makes you feel bad when you aren't the
best looking, smartest, most charming guy around. It is the
reason why fat people hate going to the gym, often the fear of
other people judging them and their ego being damaged because of
that holds them back from going. It is also the reason many
weightlifters lift heavier weights than they should, they get an
ego boost from these bigger weights and feel good because of it,
even if they are damaging their body when they can't lift them
with the right form.

Consequently this also applies to attracting women, your ego
doesn't like you failing, being rejected or making a fool of
yourself, so you play it safe, you do safe things that nobody
around will see or notice, and you try to blend in with all the
other chodes picking up women. You Never rise above the rest
because your ego tells you public humiliation is bad.

To separate yourself from your ego is a liberating experience,
you can freely do what you like without worrying about
prejudice, about others judging what you do, about girls or guys
thinking bad about you for screwing up. In fact, if you dump
your ego entirely you will see massive gains in every area of
life, for you will no longer be trying to pick up women to prove
to your friends how much of a cool dude you are, but rather
talking to women to give them a fun night out and amuse
yourself, not impress others.

So how do you go about removing this ego? We'll for a start
over the next week keep listening to your thoughts, if you catch
yourself thinking about whether someone else likes you or not
stop! Just cut that thought out and attempt to never think it
again. If you catch yourself comparing yourself to others then
stop! don't ever think like that, and if you ever think of doing
something then think "no maybe x will think I'm stupid", ignore
that thought and do it anyway.

Separating yourself from your ego means separating yourself
from comparisons with others, don't compare how many girls
you've had/muscle size/your salary to other guys, don't care
about what others think of you, and especially don't stop doing
what you want to do because someone else may not like it.

It's hard because we've been brought up a society that values
comparisons, we have charts and graphs showing school
performances, we have IQ tests, we have salaries for various
jobs and comparisons between multiple positions. In fact most of
many people's existences is based around comparing themselves to
others and only feeling good when they are better than other
people. If you ever feel good because you're better at something
than someone else, stop it! Everyone always has someone better
and worse than them, and comparing yourself to others will only
deter you from your real goals.

Set goals for yourself, and don't build them upon what others
have done Every person is unique and has their own take on life.
Do what you want to do, if getting to 60KG from 50KG is your
goal, awesome, that's a great goal, if your goal is to be bigger
than the kid down the road its not so great. Others can still
serve as inspiration of course (I know I want to be as big as
Arnie someday), but don't feel let down if you're not there yet,
just keep going, working on that goal and continue getting
there. Negative emotions from not bulking up or loosing fat fast
enough will only deter you from what you really want and when
you hit a plateau your ego will probably put you off
all-together.

Your ego can keep you going when the going is easy, but that's
all it will do. For when you hit a stale point your ego will
feel the drain from lack of success and cause you to give up
hope, even if you are only 10% away from your goal. When the
going gets tough you need to learn to put your ego aside and be
able to tap into your intelligence, which will help you get over
those speed-bumps in life and be the man you really want to be.

Your ego is based on emotions, not logic, hence why it is so
hard to control. But you will realize over time that it becomes
easier and easier the more you ignore it when it's holding you
back and start using your logic and intelligence instead. The
question is, do you want instant ego satisfying gratification,
or to endure a slight bit of ego pain for huge lifelong
improvements?
