Vitamin D and osteoporosis are an osteoporosis treatment
combination that many healthcare practitioners closely follow.

The body requires adequate calcium intake as well as an
adequate intake of vitamin D in order to maintain strong, dense
and healthy bones.

Vitamin D alone is not sufficient for the treatment of
osteoporosis. Nor are vitamin D and calcium alone and adequate
treatment choice.

But vitamin D is an important component in the treatment of
osteoporosis for many reasons. It helps with the absorption of
calcium from the intestines.

Without adequate absorption of calcium, the calcium is unable
to be metabolized as the body needs and so it sits there in the
gut and is completely ineffective. When you have an
insufficient amount of vitamin D in your body, bones that are
already weakened become even more so.

Vitamin D comes from both your diet and from exposure to the
sunlight. People living in sunny areas of the country don't
seem to have any problem producing the majority of the vitamin D
that they need from the sunlight.

But if you look at the folks that live in the less sunny
regions, then they seem to struggle with an adequate production
of vitamin D. This is particularly true among the elderly who
live in these less sunny regions. It puts them at even higher
risk for osteoporotic fractures.

The Institute of Medicine has recommendations as to an adequate
vitamin intake D regardless of whether you are battling
osteoporosis or not.

Men and women aged 19 to 50 should take 200 IU per day. Men
and women from the ages of 51 to 70 years old should take a 400
IU of vitamin D per day.

While men and women 71 years of age and older should ingest 600
IU per day. But the catch is, if you already have osteoporosis
then you should take 400 IU two times per day.

Vitamin D and osteoporosis are important to manage
appropriately since chronic overuse of vitamin D, especially
above 2000 units per day, can cause toxic levels of vitamin D,
excessively high calcium levels in the urine and blood, and even
the development of kidney stones.

It's like you are trading one problem for another one, not
necessarily the smartest thing to do. It is important to talk
with your physician prior to the initiation of vitamin D into
your daily routine.

In the search for cost effective suppliers for your eBiz, you
may never have considered the U. S. government as a possible
product source. But government auctions offer online sellers and
small business owners a wide range of goods to enhance their
regular product lines.

Locating REAL Government Liquidators

While a Google search for "government surplus" will bring back
hundreds of thousands of results, you need to be careful from
what sites you choose to purchase. Many of these surplus sellers
are merely buying goods from real government liquidators, or
from military surplus stores or outlets, and presenting
themselves as "wholesalers" of government merchandise.

Look for sites with established reputations. Some sites, like
http://GSAAuctions.gov, are run directly by federal agencies.
"Other sites have contracts with different government
departments, granting them exclusive rights to resell the goods
that department no longer needs," explains Tom Burton, COO of
http://GovLiquidation.com. "For instance, we are the sole
liquidation outlet for the Department of Defense."

…Everything but the Kitchen Sink

The goods you can find on a government auction site are as
diverse as the functions of government: textiles, clothing,
electronics, and the list goes on. Whether you have your own web
site or sell on a platform like eBay, you can most likely find
products that complement your usual wares and appeal to your
target audience. For example, if you sell camping gear, you can
find a wealth of merchandise that you can use to create special
promotions and bonuses, or package with your regular products to
create unique, value-added bundles.

Most auction sites will post items several days before the
bidding begins, and allow several additional days of bidding.
You need to use this time to do your homework:

• Research the market for any items of interest, look at the
demand and competition, and find out what kind of retail price
you can realistically expect to charge.

• Study all the information the site provides about the lot.
Most will show the condition, original acquisition price, and
basic technical information, and post photos as well.

• For more detailed information on a specific product, you
might also check out the product manufacturer's web site.

• Find out what the shipping costs will be. Most sites won't
arrange shipping for you, but they'll often provide you with
several options for transporters they've worked with in the
past. You need to contact each one to see who can give you the
best deal, and with whom you feel most comfortable. (When you
contact them, you need to give them the weight and cubic
dimensions of the lot, so make sure to note those from the web
site.)

Any reputable site will allow you to inspect the property when
it's posted, and during the time it's up for auction.
Particularly for big-ticket items, you might consider having a
screener preview the lot on your behalf. Often the auction
company can recommend local companies that offer this service.

The Price of Progress

Lots are generally sold for a small fraction of their original
acquisition price – anywhere from six to ten percent, on
average. That means you're getting, in some cases, a ninety
percent discount when you're buying – and as every retailer and
e-tailer knows, that's when you make your money. Government
auctions can't provide a steady, consistent stream of like
products to resell. But, as Burton points out, "They make an
excellent source for loss leaders, cross-sellers, up-sellers,
and promotional items that any online seller can use in their
eBiz."

If you travel a lot of business or you like to travel to a lot
of places with your family or even by yourself for pleasure, I
hope you're using an airline miles credit card to go back and
forth. If you're not, I really hope you take the time to read
this article so you can better understand how the credit cards
actually work.

Airline credit cards are ideal for people who probably make
about five to ten trips a year at least. If you don't make this
many then I would say that you shouldn't waste your energy
applying for one unless you want to sign up to take advantage of
the free airline ticket. If you do take more than five trips
years then you're already a perfect candidate for this type of
card. The next step you're going to want to take is to start
researching.

A credit card that based on airline rewards is a very simple
concept. You can either apply for a card that focuses on one
airline, which I would highly recommend. The reason I would
recommend a credit card that focuses on one airliner is because
when you tend to travel with one airliner a lot, they will start
to notice and apply to certain statuses. The higher you work
your way up the ladder, the more perks you`ll get like
complimentary upgrades, tickets, food, etc.

If you don't want to apply for a credit card that focuses on
one airline then you can focus on a travel credit card. These
credit cards are more the traveler that wants to save on hotels,
airlines, and the whole package. They don't necessarily work
like an airline credit card but they give you points for every
dollar you spend that is related to travel. When these points
reach a certain point, you'll be able to cash them in for items,
free tickets, hotel rooms, and more.

The difference with an airline credit card that focuses on an
airline such as Delta is that you'll receive a mile for every
dollar you spend. This is usually how the industry works but
every carrier varies when it comes to dollars to mile rations,
what you can redeem, etc. When you rack up enough airlines with
the airliner, you'll be able to redeem them for future flights.
The thing you should look out for when you do apply for a card
is for a credit card that never lets the frequent flier miles
expire. You won't want get a lot of points and find out they're
all gone when you go to redeem them.

Like any credit card you apply for, make sure that you do your
research when applying for a card. Make sure that the airliner
you're applying for is near your home. You won't want to apply
for a card and come to find out that airliner doesn't even leave
your airport. Watch out for the terms, annual fee, and any other
terms and conditions. Once you find the right card, apply for it
and start saving on your mileage!

All school systems should have goals. These goals must be
attainable, however. While these centers of learning must know
where they headed and how they are going to get there, it seems
that they are becoming more and more unreasonable in their
expectations. Perhaps they should be classified more as
performance dreams; because no matter how many times you write
"all students will…" doesn't mean it's going to happen.
Baltimore Schools, just like many others throughout the nation,
have these types of goals, while they might be admirable,
they're completely unattainable.

Performance Wishes of Baltimore Schools

Baltimore Schools list eight performance goals as part of their
mission of education. Some of them are more attainable than
others, but none of them can be completely accomplished. This is
simply due to the fact that schools are run by and inhabited by
humans. We are not perfect, and are completely fallible. Just
because students attend Baltimore Schools and teachers teach at
Baltimore Schools does not mean that they are better than any
others attending or teaching at any other school in the United
States. Of course, we must hold all to high standards, but it
must be with the understanding that not everyone is going to
succeed at the same level.

For example, the Baltimore County public schools performance
goal 1 states that by 2012 that ALL students will reach
proficiency in all core subjects – Reading, Language Arts,
Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Well, my friends,
while they can all try to do their best, not all students are
going to be able to do this. Whether it's peer pressure, lack of
parental support, unavoidable family troubles, low
socio-economic background, or simply a learning disability, not
ALL kids will achieve this goal.

Performance Goal 2 states basically the same thing as #1, but
specifically targets ESL students –those who have English as a
Second Language. I am not by any means suggesting that these
Baltimore Schools' students can't reach this goal, or that they
aren't as intelligent as their American Baltimore Schools peers.
I propose a simple example: What about the student who moves to
and enrolls in one of the Baltimore Schools from Germany in the
12th grade, or what if a 4th grader moves in from Peru in May of
the school year? You get the idea.

Baltimore Schools Seek Perfect Teachers

Baltimore Schools' Performance Goal 4 is also challenging to
fulfill. It states that ALL students will be taught by highly
qualified Baltimore Schools teachers. Indeed, they have a right
to be. But quite frankly, every school has more than one teacher
who can't wait for retirement, is stuck in a job they greatly
dislike, or is suffering from burnout. They may have family
troubles or stress like a move, a divorce, or serious illness to
contend with that leads them to give a less than perfect
performance each day.

While not all the Performance Goals set forth by Baltimore
Schools' leaders are pipe dreams, it would be nice to see an
understanding of the hard work required to accomplish these
goals reflected in goals which are truly attainable.

Two Films Offer Great Examples of What Not to Do With Your Life
Copyright © 2006 Ed Bagley

Kiss the Bride - 2 Stars (Average)

Kiss the Bride centers around four sisters from an Italian
Catholic family in Rhode Island trying to work out their
childhood hang-ups as three of them-all self-centered,
self-absorbed and out of touch with reality-return to help
their little sister get married.

This flick has drugs, alcohol, bad language, some brief
nudity and really heavy, dramatic fights that illustrate
the frustration and stupidity of the sisters who,
thankfully, finally get it together by the end of the film.

Kiss the Bride is almost nonstop bickering, fighting and
unpleasantness. You wonder if these people are ever going
to get their act together. I ask myself, who needs it?

Am I a better person for seeing this film? Are you kidding?
You would have to be on crack and standing in the middle of
a train track waiting for an approaching locomotive to send
you flying to think that time spend watching this film had
any redeeming value.

Once again we have a writer/director with the same name:
Vanessa Parise. She offers proof again that being both the
director and writer of a screenplay generally breeds more
failure than success.

As if to outdo other writer/directors who have bombed in
these dual roles, Parise takes the role of Chrissy as one
of the sisters who is self-centered and self-absorbed.
Maybe she should try a one-woman show so her wonderfulness
could really shine through?

Parise (average rating) joins a not-so-exclusive club of
fellow writer/directors who have fallen short, including
Peter Weir (average rating) for Master and Commander: The
Far Side of the World, Nancy Myers (average rating) for
Something's Gotta Give, Thomas Bezucha (average rating) for
The Family Stone, Michael McGowan (average rating) for
Saint Ralph, Jared Hess (terrible rating) for Napoleon
Dynamite, Robert Rodriguez (terrible rating) for Once Upon
a Time in Mexico, and Paul Thomas Anderson (terrible
rating) for Punch-Drunk Love.

See Kiss the Bride only once or, better yet, not at all.

Sideways - 2 Stars (Average)

Sideways focuses on two men in midlife crises taking a
one-week excursion through California wine country.

One is a broken down actor named Jack (Thomas Haden Church)
who wants to get laid one more time before he gets married
while the other is a wannabe writer and English teacher
named Miles (Paul Giamatti) who masquerades as a brooding
loser.

They were college roommates and now Miles is slated to be
Jack's best man.

Both of these poor excuses for role models get into enough
trouble in a week to last a lifetime, and leave lasting
scars as neither one has a single shred of personal growth
during their experience.

This movie has some humor, but it is really a drama about
two men going nowhere fast, hence the name Sideways.

The ending is really weak and offers no redeeming hope that
either character will develop a life purpose or a
perspective on living other than continuing to occupy space
on the planet with their miserable existence.

I was anxious to see this movie because it was recommended
by Charles Krauthammer, the Pulitzer Prize winning
syndicated columnist for The Washington Post. Krauthammer
felt that Sideways was a really good comedy that smart
people could appreciate.

There are only a couple of commentators in print and
broadcast media that I believe are extremely bright, have
tremendous presentation skills and are worth valuable time
to watch and read. Charles Krauthammer is one commentator I
look forward to seeing on the Fox network and reading his
column in the local daily newspaper.

Krauthammer was right about his observation. Smart, savvy
people loved Sideways. I was just not one of them.

Alexander Payne won the Oscar for his screenplay and
directed the film as well. Sideways was nominated for 4
other Oscars, including Best Director, Best Picture, Best
Supporting Actor (Thomas Haden Church) and Best Supporting
Actress (Virginia Madsen).

The film also picked up another incredible 91 wins and an
additional 31 more nominations. So what exactly is my beef
to have the temerity to give Sideways an average rating?

Just this: Both of these birds are going nowhere 1,000
miles an hour, and I would not choose to live their life or
make their choices on the worst day of my life. Neither
Jack or Miles are even likeable characters. To say that you
like these guys and look up to them is ludicrous.

There are so many better examples of people who resolve
their problems and get over themselves. Why watch and
emulate a couple of jerks traveling through wine country?

Am I a better person for having seen Sideways? Hardly.

The Academy members can give Alexander Payne all of the
Oscars they want. I think he needs to tell a better story
with some redeeming value. I doubt Sideways will go down as
a classic film anytime soon.

In the meantime, a simple film like A Christmas Story will
be a classic long after the dust gathers on the can that
holds Sideways.

Four Average Movies That Do Not Get Any Better the Second Time Around
Copyright © 2007 Ed Bagley

Here are four average movies that do not get any better the
second time around:

Anger Management - 2 Stars (Average)

Anger Management brings young Adam Sandler together with
old Jack Nicholson in a dippy comedy that borders on a
romantic comedy without the dramatic bent.

Dave Buznik (Adam Sandler) is a businessman who is wrongly
sentenced to an anger-management program following an
incident on airline flight, but insult is added to injury
when Dr. Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson), an aggressive,
unorthodox therapist, becomes his live in roommate during
rehabilitation.

This film is dominated by Nicholson, has a script that begs
for better lines, and becomes annoying after awhile, which
is very similar to Nicholson's character in the movie. I am
not altogether sure this movie would not have been better
if the roles of Nicholson and Sandler were reversed.

Imagine Nicholson as a problematic, anger-management
reprobate (not hard to do) and Sandler as a recent
psychiatrist grad about to deal with his first real patient
(easy to do). I propose this because I felt very little
chemistry between Nicholson and Sandler as they were cast.

Anger Management is not a film I would see twice under any
circumstances. Apparently a lot of judges felt the same way
as awards were really absent for this effort.

The Emperor's Club - 2 Stars (Average)

The Emperor's Club reminds me of the aspirations of people
starting out in life and the disappointment that inevitably
comes when forcing one's ideas upon another.

William Hundert (Kevin Kline) is a passionate and
principled classics professor who finds his world
challenged when a new student, Sedgewick Bell (Emile
Hirsch), comes into his class. A battle of wills ensues.

The Emperor's Club needed a better script and suffered from
the lack of a female presence. Who wants to watch a bunch
of guys being smart asses? This gets to be about as
interesting as watching flour turn brown.

The Emperor's Club was not unlike the Dead Poet's Society
with Robin Williams as English professor John Keating,
except Williams does a better acting job than Kline.

The message of The Emperor's Club is negative and
undermining; the message of Dead Poet's Society is
uplifting and encouraging.

Dead Poet's Society earned an Oscar for Best Writing by Tom
Schulman, and garnered three other Academy nominations:
Robin Williams for Best Actor, Peter Weir for Best Director
and Best Picture.

The Emperor's Club was not even noticed at awards time.

The Fast and the Furious - 2 Stars (Average)

The Fast and the Furious is an action flick for guys
featuring street car racing, macho wannabe men and mindless
activity that sends a terrible message to every mixed up
teenager who is out of control and looking for trouble.

Yes, the cars are great, yes, the race scenes are terrific
for a fantasy world, and no, this film has no redeeming
quality worth talking about. It is, in a word, stupid, and
glorifies a stupid activity.

The Fast and the Furious picked up some minor awards for
cinematography and music, but lacks substance and gets low
marks for bad behavior. Save your money on the sequel.

Five Easy Pieces - 2 Stars (Average)

Five Easy Pieces was made in 1970 and 36 years later has
become a cult film in the sense that it engenders a
misplaced or excessive admiration because of an actor named
Jack Nicholson and a restaurant scene that suggests humor
but exhibits rage.

Robert Dupea (Jack Nicholson) is a successful classical
pianist from a well-to-do family who becomes a worthless
piece of nothing on his way to nowhere about 1,000 miles an
hour. Dupea becomes one troubled and sad person who ends up
as a trashy oil rigger.

Dupea surrounds himself with enough dysfunctional people to
field a basketball team. One of Dupea's lines in the movie
says a lot: "I move around a lot, not because I'm looking
for anything really, but 'cause I'm getting away from
things that get bad if I stay." Dupea just needs to grow up
and stop feeling sorry for himself; he simply cannot come
to terms with life and what it has to offer.

Nicholson does a great job with his role in the film (he
gets his second Oscar nomination for Best Actor), but the
script, story, ending and everything else about Five Easy
Pieces is negative and worthless. The message of the film
is just a sad, sorry excuse for living.

Nicholson becomes a major force in acting during Five Easy
Pieces. He goes on to earn no less than 2 Best Actor Oscars
(One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and As Good As It Gets), 1
Best Supporting Actor Oscar (Terms of Endearment) and no
less than 9 other Best Actor nominations.

Jack Nicholson is the most nominated actor in Academy
Awards history. I was about to say he could win an Oscar
nomination in any film, and then I remembered Anger
Management with Adam Sandler.

Five Easy Pieces also won Oscar nominations for Best
Supporting Actress (Karen Black), Best Picture and Best
Writing by Bob Rafelson and Carole Eastman. Great scripts
do help, but I find the message of this script disturbing.

As close to the Pacific Ocean as you can get Oceanside
California real estate is always in high demand. While you'll
see median price listings for Oceanside California real estate
as low as $428,000, keep in mind that those listings usually
include foreclosed homes and smaller sized condos in addition to
single family dwellings. A more accurate number may be an
average price of around $560,000 for a single family home sold
in 2006. Some good news for potential homebuyers of Oceanside
California real estate is that 2007 prices have dropped an
average of $25,000 on the market as a whole. Even so, if you're
looking at Oceanside California real estate for your next home
or property- having your finances in order is a must.

Pre-approval and Loan Options for Oceanside California Real
Estate

Hopefully the first decision you make when viewing the
Oceanside California real estate listings is to determine what
you can afford. Taxes, PMI (private mortgage insurance),
inspections, closing costs, and the additional expenses of home
maintenance should all be considered. If you're a first time
homebuyer and are unfamiliar with any of these terms you need to
do a little research on mortgage terms before setting out in
search of your new Oceanside California real estate purchase.

The next step for many buyers is to make sure that your credit
score is as good as it can possibly be. Don't make any other
major purchases or open any new credit accounts for six months
before applying for a mortgage loan. Your ability to get
preapproved and to get a good interest rate is on the line.

Getting pre-approved in a fast-moving market is essential. If
you've ever watched one of those reality shows on buying a house
and seen hopeful buyers loose out to faster competition- chances
are it involved Oceanside California real estate. That doesn't
mean you should buy in desperation; rather be as prepared as
possible. If you do lose out on your first Oceanside California
real estate choice- there will be another. But having your
pre-approval ready won't put you in jeopardy of losing a home
you love while you wait for the mortgage lender to close the
deal.

Interest rates for Oceanside California real estate will depend
on factors like the amount of your down payment and your credit
history. Currently a 30 year fixed rate loan can be obtained
around 6.2%; a 15 year fixed rate for 5.8%; and a 5/1 ARM
(adjustable rate mortgage) at 5.83%. These could change
tomorrow, and vary today from lender to lender. So do yourself a
favor and get some different quotes before committing to
anything.

Finally, loan options for your Oceanside California real estate
purchase may save you thousands of dollars in the long run. The
lower rate of a 15 year fixed loan or a 5/1 ARM can save you
thousands in interest if you can handle the higher payment or
future change in rate. These options have become more difficult
to obtain for buyers with questionable credit histories. But if
you understand the ramifications of these loans and can qualify
for them, an alternative to conventional loans can save you a
lot of money on Oceanside California real estate.

If you are a business owner, small or big, isn't as significant
as how successful you can be. We all have dreams and wants, and
expect a return from investments, but the outcome is never
steady. Is there a secret formula or do we simply overlook the
simple truths of love. Business development is an ongoing
process and any slack on your part will cause your growth
prospects to stagnate. You need not think of new ideas each day
because that would reflect that you are not certain of your
decisions. Make your plans rock solid so your business can grow
just as you have dreamed.

There's business development strategy that you can rely on but
no amount of steady planning will work if you're not certain.
Have faith in your projects and nurture them watch your
decisions work in your favor. You can't leave too much on
chance; do the necessary homework and hard work of course to
reap the benefits. Business development is not an agenda that
works overnight. You need to take in all necessary planning and
consideration to set a business goal. Set your targets and make
all ends of the business work towards your goal. You need
patience and determination. If you try to do a fast job, maybe
there'll be a temporary boost but things will fall apart. Build
a firm baseline so you can deal with all business uncertainties.
If you have the right business development strategy then have
adequate back up to support your plans in case of any untoward
event.

Business development is not going to be a success if you don't
give it that additional push. You need the inner strength to
have belief and faith in any project. You need to be able to
trust your instincts and find the answers from within. There are
too many times you need to make a decision, how do you make it.
Yes you try to justify it with business rationalizing but what
does your inner voice say, or have you never heard it. Does your
inner voice sit mum at crucial moments like this? If your mind's
not really supporting your business development strategy, you
need to delve deeper. Find the inner answer. This is all too
easy if you resort to hypnosis for business development.

Hypnosis will help you reach a state of absolute peace and calm
and identify with your inner being. Use your inner strengths to
work for you. The sublime sub conscious has an awakening and its
here that you find inner awareness. You will find the right
questions and answers to them. Help initiate a thought process
that's powerful and new. Listen to your hypnosis CD and uncover
the mysteries of life. Enable your conscious mind to attain
greater consciousness. The need for hypnosis is immense as it
can help you know the answers. You would be able to gauge a
system wit a hawk's eye and this time you won't overlook
anything.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Anger is a growing issue that is hitting our generation with
its full force. With abusive relationships, road rage and
violent attacks all on the increase – is our society more like a
pressure cooker – and if so, what can we do about it? I remember
a good few years back seeing the eruption into the limelight of
road rage after a man was stabbed to death at the road side.
Unfortunately it has become one of those stories that we see so
often that it is sadly something that rarely shocks us anymore.
In the last few years we have also watched the behaviour of `air
rage' also thrust into the limelight. Let's hope that this
doesn't become just another norm in our increasingly pressurised
world.

Doing the job that I do as a hypnotherapist I have dealt with
many cases from men and woman that just get a little flustered
when they don't get their own way or can't get their point
across. I have also dealt with people that in the same types of
situations have used unacceptable force to make their opinions
known. Unfortunately the difference in these two types of people
is sometimes only time as if they don't learn to control their
anger, it will ultimately get worse. The other thing that I
notice when helping anger management clients is that it tends to
be a Jackal and Hyde situation where they can actually be really
nice people – until they get angry.

Nearly all of my past and present anger management clients have
said that it is almost like other people are pressing their
buttons or are winding them up when they get angry. However this
is not true as what really is happening is that when a person
becomes angry, they become more sensitive to certain things that
are going on around them. Because of this sensitivity and anger
that it is associated to, an angry person can perceive that
someone else is winding them up, even is the other person is
actually trying to help.

As a hypnotherapist, there are many techniques and ways of
doing things that I can utilise to help with anger management in
order to assist a client in bringing their emotions under
control and also to communicate their points of view
effectively. In fact, communication is a large part of the
process as when a person can get the results that they want with
someone else without losing control or flying off the handle
then there is no need for anger to be used as a mechanism to get
ones point across.

technique and anger management in general please check his site

of your house, then you would go with a larger full bodied
version. Or, if you just want something to put on your garage,
then a medium sized that is a half body would be the way to go.
There are even smaller ones that you could use as a nice
decorative accent in your garden space if you like, or you could
put one on top of your clothesline or at the corner of your

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Dubai is arguably the most well known of the seven emirates
(sovereign states) that make up the United Arab Emirates. It is
situated on the coast of the Persian Gulf and is bordered by the
emirates of Abu Dhabi to the south and Sharjah to the northeast;
Dubai also shares a border with Oman in the southeast.

Dubai is the second largest of the emirates in size, and has
the largest population of any of the emirates in the UAE,
approximately 1.5 million. This population is largely
metropolitan in Dubai (sometimes called Dubai City to
distinguish it from the emirate), which is the largest city in
the UAE.

Dubai was the first of the emirates to allow freehold ownership
of property to non - UAE (United Arab Emirates) or GCC (Gulf
Cooperation Council) citizens. Prior to a decree issued by crown
prince General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoom (the ruler
and prime minister of Dubai and the Vice President of the UAE)
in 2002 foreigners were only able to rent or take 99-year
leasehold over property. The properties available for foreign
ownership are in areas of Dubai that have been designated by the
government for this purpose.

The decision by the government of Dubai to diversify the
economy and focus on service and tourism industries in addition
to the traditional oil based economy has seen many exciting and
unique property developments announced, constructed and in
various states of construction throughout the city and the
emirate. Dubai city is currently one of the world's fastest
growing cities; and is rapidly becoming one of the top tourist
destinations in the world.

The Palm Island developments and The World are two totally
unique concepts in property development that have excited the
imaginations of people all over the globe. These two separate
developments - both the ideas of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoom to increase tourism to Dubai, involve the construction
of man made islands off the coast of Dubai in the Persian Gulf.
The three islands of the Palm Island Development alone will add
520 kilometres of beaches to Dubai City.

The palm Island developments consist of three islands The Palm,
Jumeirah, The Palm, Jebel Ali and The Palm, Deira. The three
islands are actually man made peninsulas, shaped like palm trees
with trunks and fronds surrounded by crescent shaped breakwater
islands. The developments will house between them exclusive
water front villas and apartments, restaurants, shopping malls,
health spas, sporting facilities, water theme parks, marinas and
over one hundred luxury hotels. Property owners began taking
residence on Palm Jumeirah in 2006; the completion of the entire
three-island development is expected by 2015.

The World development is a 300-island man made archipelago off
the coast of Dubai in which the islands form the shapes of the
worlds' continents and from the air the entire development looks
like a map of the world. Once the land reclamation to form the
islands is completed (the expected completion date is 2008) the
owners of the various islands will be free to commence
construction of their developments or properties on their own
private islands.

"Coach Carter" Sends an Outstanding Message About a Coach with Integrity, Honor and Goodness
Coach Carter - 3 Stars (Good)

Samuel L. Jackson plays Coach Ken Carter in a good sports
drama with an outstanding message for today's high school
basketball players who see playing with the pros as their
only objective in life.

Coach Carter, a successful sporting goods store owner and
an outstanding athlete in his day, returns to his alma
mater which is located in a poor area of Richmond (CA). He
inherits a team with players that have a poor attitude,
poor performance and virtually no expectations for their
future should they fail to advance their basketball careers.

The team at Richmond High School is designed to have its
student athletes fail by not requiring greater
expectations, discipline and accountability. Coach Carter
is the centerpiece of this movie about values based on a
true story of a California team.

He immediately lays down the law, Carter style, demanding
discipline, hard work and accountability. Carter and his
players sign a written contract that demands standards for
behavior, a dress code and good grades to stay eligible to
play.

Carter believes that scholarship and ethics should go hand
in hand with outstanding basketball play.

Given some standards to meet, his players take a 180 degree
turn and start winning from the outset of the season, going
undefeated through several games. Then the community starts
showering them with attention and praise and the players
become overconfident and ignore their class attendance and
studies.

Carter finds out that several of his players are nearly
failing and takes immediate action, benching his team and
shutting down the basketball program until the players toe
the mark in their studies. You can imagine the reaction of
the parents and community in general.

Coach Carter finds himself under immense pressure to give
his players a pass. He becomes probably the only basketball
coach in America to stand fast with an undefeated team. He
flatly refuses to cave in, forcing his players to be
accountable for their performance both on and off the court.

This is an incredible story of a coach who will not
compromise his values by not compromising his integrity.
Coach Carter has the guts and audacity to stand fast and
right wills out in the end.

Listen to what Coach Carter has to say at his board
hearing: "You really need to consider the message you're
sending these boys by ending the lockout. It's the same
message that we as a culture send to our professional
athletes, and that is that they are above the law.

"If these boys cannot honor the simple rules of a
basketball contract, how long do you think it will be
before they're out there breaking the law?

"I played ball here at Richmond High 30 years ago. It was
the same thing then; some of my teammates went to prison,
some of them even ended up dead. If you vote to end the
lockout, you won't have to terminate me, I'll quit."

Powerful? You better believe it. Ignore the violence,
sexual content, poor language, teen partying and drug
material in this film, it is just Hollywood's clumsy way of
stereotyping high school basketball players.

There is too little recognition in films for prep
basketball players who are not only outstanding collegiate
and professional prospects but also outstanding students
with great character and values.

Nonetheless, there are players like Coach Carter inherited,
and this movie illustrates an important and needed
statement about what really matters. Coach Carter is not
interested in winning games to advance his career; he is
totally focused on making young men into confident,
productive, well adjusted adults.

Thankfully, the movie Coach Carter enjoyed some success,
generating the highest opening weekend ($24 million) of any
release by an MTV film. There was little recognition for
this film among the most prestigious award givers. No
matter. It was an Academy Award message in its own right.

See this movie for its excellent message. And yes, take
your children with you, they need the message even more
than you do, they are now in the spotlight and you are
behind it.

Coach Was Color-Blind, He Only Wanted to Know If You Could Play Basketball
Glory Road - 2 Stars (Average)

Basketball Coach Don Haskins does not have to wait for his
legend to happen. He is a member of the Texas Sports Hall
of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Few today would remember Don Haskins. He was the coach at
Texas Western in 1966 when his 27-1 team played Adolph
Rupp's 27-1 University of Kentucky Wildcats for the NCAA
title.

Nothing too unusual about that, except that Haskins would
become the first coach in NCAA history to start an
all-African American lineup when the Miners squared off
against Rupp's all-white Kentucky team that featured two
players who would become well-known in the NBA pro league:
Pat Riley and Louie Dampier.

Remember these names: Bobby Joe Hill, David Lattin, Orsten
Artis, Willie Worsley and Harry Flournoy during February,
Black History Month. They were the starting lineup for
Texas Western when the Miners won the NCAA championship
against an all-white Kentucky team, 72-65.

I would graduate from Michigan State University two months
after Texas Western won the title, and would not be aware
of just how historic this event was. My high school and
college cross-country and track teams were integrated.
Kentucky would not even offer African Americans basketball
scholarships, and there were many other colleges and
universities which excluded African American players in
1966.

There was a lot of hatred in the South at that time. Heck,
there was a lot hatred everywhere, but not in Don Haskins'
will to win for Texas Western, known today as UTEP, the
University of Texas at El Paso. Haskins was color-blind and
simply put the best players on the floor to compete.

Haskins recruited the best players, nothing else mattered.
Not even the lousy treatment and death threats both Haskins
and his players received from die-hard, ignorant, bigoted
Texas Western boosters and donors. They sing a different
tune in Texas today, especially at the University of Texas.

Glory Road in 2006 retold the story of Don Haskins and
Texas Western. Josh Lucas played the role of Don Haskins,
Derek Luke played Bobby Joe Hill and John Voight played
Adolph Rupp.

Glory Road is not one of the best movies ever made, but the
story of Texas Western is on par with other great victories
in sports history, including the 1980 U. S. Hockey team
winning the Gold Medal in the Olympics.

Contrary to the movie version, the title game was not as
big an upset as was depicted. Texas Western had an
excellent team, as evidenced by its No. 3 ranking the final
polls that year. Haskins was not the first coach to play
African Americans, Texas Western had African American
players on its roster before Haskins arrived.

Haskins was the first to start an all-African American
lineup in the NCAA title game, and it is also true that
Texas Western was the first college in a Southern state to
integrate its athletic teams. Good for Texas Western.

Glory Road had a good message of hope for African
Americans. At least one coach had the backbone to play the
best. Do not think for a moment that this was Don Haskins'
one moment of glory, and that he was courageous but not an
excellent basketball coach.

Since Glory Road was not as much about Don Haskins as some
very talented, very tolerant and very brave Texas Western
players, let it be known that Don Haskins:

1) Played three years at Oklahoma A&M under Hall of Fame
coach Hank Iba and was Team Captain.

2) Was tied for 4th place among the NCAA's most winning
active coaches when he retired with 719 wins and 353 losses.

3) Had 33 winning seasons at UTEP in 38 years of coaching.

4) Led UTEP to no less than 17 20-win-seasons, an NCAA
title in 1966, 7 Western Athletic Conference (WAC)
championships, 4 WAC tournament titles, and 21 postseason
trips (14 to the NCAA playoffs and 7 NIT-National
Invitational Tournament-appearances).

5) Changed college basketball forever by starting an
all-African American team against an all-white Kentucky
team in the NCAA tournament and winning the title.

6) Coached Hall of Famer Nate "Tiny" Archibald, NBA
All-Star Tim Hardaway, and Antonio Davis, and mentored
future coaches Nolan Richardson and Tim Floyd.

Glory Road is a film for every basketball enthusiast. It
has a great message and represents a great moment in the
evolution of basketball as we know and enjoy it today.

As the wines produced in the Napa Valley continue to grow in
prestige, joining the ranks of the finest of Italy and France,
so does the expansion of the tourism industry in this region.
Its history as a wine-producing district stretches back to the
early 19th century. By that century's end, there were over 140
distinct wineries, each offering their own product. Today, with
over 340 wineries, Napa is considered to be among the finest of
the AVA's (American Viticultural Areas). Touring a vineyard is a
great way to spend a day on your California vacation.

An enormously diverse range of grapes is produced in the Napa
Valley. Specialties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay,
Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Zinfandel. The Vineyard owners have
turned production into an art form, spending countless hours
researching cultivation methods in the pursuit of the perfect
grape. Indeed, most producers blend several grapes into each
wine to produce a mixture from throughout the Valley.

The average vineyard tour takes from one to two hours, and
usually costs about twenty-five dollars. Ambling through a
vineyard is one of the most tranquil experiences California has
to offer. You're immediately confronted by the sweet fragrance
of crushed grapes, a sublime odor. Every sense delights, with
birds chirping in your ears and sweeping vistas playing out
before your eyes.

One of the most famous wineries is the Beringer Vineyard. The
oldest continuously operating Vineyard in Napa (and the first to
offer tours to the public), Beringer has been declared a
Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
The winery is open every day, with the exceptions of
Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.

The Vineyard was founded by Jacob Beringer, a German immigrant
who left life in Europe to pursue opportunity in the New World.
After landing in New York, Beringer almost immediately set off
for points west, lured by reports that the climate in California
excelled in producing fantastic grapes. Though he had only
minimal experience, he knew this would be his life-long
profession. Through perseverance and hard work, he was able to
transform wilderness into paradise, resulting in the birth of
the Beringer Vineyard.

Numerous buildings throughout the Vineyard seamlessly blend
into the landscape, providing a historical context to the grapes
growing around you. Some have been here for over 100 years, a
testament to the quality of this Vineyard's product. Many
buildings also contain examples of art produced in the region.

Beringer offers a number of different tour options. Beginners
should start with the "Introducing Beringer Tour". This is also
the only tour at the winery open to those under 21. It
highlights different moments in Beringer's 129 year history.
Other options include the Historic District Tour, the Vintage
Legacy Tour, and the Taste of Beringer Tour. Whichever you
choose, end at the Old Winery Tasting Bar.

Whether you choose Beringer or any of the fine wineries in the
Napa Valley, you're sure to have a great experience wandering
through the quiet scenery. Let a Napa vineyard tour be a
highlight of your time in California.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Cold sore lysine - is it the miracle cure for cold sores that
many claim? In this article you will get the latest research
facts about cold sore lysine remedies for herpes sores.

Cold sore lysine treatment has been in the news a lot in recent
years. Studies continue to show it to be very helpful for relief
of these persistent sores. But many people who write about
lysine do not know how it actually works.

FACT: Cold sores are quelled by lysine similar to a fire being
quenched by water.

Water puts out a fire by starving it of the oxygen it needs to
burn. Lysine works in a similar way - it represses cold sores by
depriving the herpes virus of what it must have to create the
sore.

Before using lysine, however, let us explore the cause and
effect of these outbreaks and how lysine actually works for you.

The herpes simplex virus moves to the surface for the sole
purpose of creating new virus. This parasite virus enters a cell
and forces that cell to produce new virus clones. When full, the
cell is broken open to spill out the fresh virus.

The herpes virus, type 1 or 2, creates the open, ugly ulcer on
your lip or nose by burning up thousands of nerve cells during
this replication process.

FACT: Arginine feeds cold sores like oxygen feeds fires.

The herpes virus is made of protein. The main protein used by
the cells to create this sub-microscopic virus is the amino acid
arginine.

Arginine and lysine are considered essential amino acids. Your
body cannot create these. They are essential for your health and
must come from your diet.

Your body cells store arginine in a special area within the
cell. If forced to create new herpes virus, your cell will draw
on these stores until depleted. Without arginine readily
available, new virus cannot be created.

FACT: Lysine smothers cold sores by making arginine
unavailable.

Your cells stock up on lysine too. And they do so in the same
storage space as arginine. Since these two amino acids compete
for the same storage area, the more lysine you eat and make
available to your cells, the less arginine will be available for
virus creation.

Here is the best news. Lysine cannot be used to create new
virus. Like water, it cannot burn. And because lysine forces
arginine out of the cells, it removes the main building block
for the virus.

FACT: Lysine is only available to the cells if taken orally.

The best way to flood your cells with cold sore lysine is by
eating foods high in this protein. Dairy products, meats, and
fish are excellent sources of this amino acid.

Lysine capsules, although not as well absorbed, are much more
convenient for many people. A special diet is often hard to
keep, especially with your busy schedule. But, it would be best
to combine dietary sources with these supplements.

There are several drug-store treatments that contain lysine.
These treatments often contain other herpes fighting ingredients
that will help - at least for comfort. Lysine sounds good on the
label - but, as a topical remedy for cold sores, it has not been
proven to work.

Amino acids, such as lysine, do not go into the cells through
the skin. Putting it on the skin before the sores blossom is of
no value. And applying this amino acid after the sore opens up,
even if it did work, is too late. The damage is already done.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT - lysine is great for extinguishing, and
preventing, cold sores. But keep in mind that it only works when
it gets into the cells. This can only happen when taken by mouth
and absorbed internally from food and supplements.

Lysine is perfectly safe. It is only a protein fraction.
Commonly, lysine supplements are taken in doses up to 4000 mg.
per day during the outbreak. Some folks also take 500 to 1000
mg. daily to prevent cold sores.

Consuming high lysine foods is the best source of quality
lysine. Taking lysine capsules may also be necessary for you to
reach the levels you need for effective cold sore lysine
treatment.

I have good news and bad news. So which do you want first: The
good news…or the bad news?

Answer here: __________

I'd say probably 7 out of 10 times I'd want the good news
first. Some people want the good news ALL the time. Others go
for the bad news first every time.

Today's law of attraction news is directly related to a
specific 'Law of Attraction' secret.

Now, the good news is that you are constantly creating and
perpetuating the 'reality' you experience.

The bad news is that YOU ARE CONSTANTLY CREATING AND
PERPETUATING the reality you experience!

Let me explain.

You see, we all have self-fulfilling prophecies working in our
lives. The issue here is that we usually don't consciously
recognize what our prophecies are - because they're built into
our belief systems and are often subconscious.

For example, say you try something new even though you 'know'
it isn't going to work out for you. There's that part of you
that knows you have to change and do new things and in new ways.
And yet, you `know' from past experience that things always turn
out the same way (badly).

Sure enough, you try it, it doesn't work, and you throw your
hands in the air and say, "See! I told you so!"

So true.

But why is it true? This leads us to today's 'Law of Attraction
Secret' -

"What you secretly expect determines what you ultimately get."

It's time to DROP what you know about life and ALLOW life to
show you MORE. Everything you 'know' about life has brought you
to where you are right now (which was great for the definition
of you that you're now about to outgrow) and what you know is
not enough to allow for greater things to enter into your
awareness and into your reality.

Make yourself an empty vessel for the universe to show you how
wonderful your life can truly be.

Not long ago, I noticed every time I had a financial
breakthrough it would usually be followed up with or accompanied
by some sort of financial mishap or unexpected expense.

What I secretly expected was to make $500 and then have to pay
someone $300 somewhere, somehow (just to give you an example).

Now, it wasn't the dollar amounts I expected. I want you to
FEEL the vibration of someone who keeps making a little more
than they are spending.

For some people, practicing the above is actually really going
to improve your situation. Perfect…if it feels right, then go
for it.

HOWEVER…for me, this is the SLOW path to success and financial
freedom.

So I've been practicing 'expecting' more money inflow and less
money outflow.

Let's do an exercise now…

Law of Attraction Exercise

Take a sheet of paper and write at the top, 'My Secret
Expectations.'

Now list as many as you can see.

What do you expect to happen in your finances? Do you expect to
always 'net out' at breakeven the end of each month? Do you get
shortchanged at the store or do you later notice the cashier
gave you too much change back?

What do you secretly expect in your relationships? Do you
expect people to take advantage of your kindness? To eventually
leave you or treat you a certain way?

How about career? Do you expect someone else to always get the
promotion because they have more experience?

Once you've identified your secret expectations, you can start
working on reprogramming your mind to expect what you REALLY
WANT!

So remember:

"What you secretly expect determines what you ultimately get."

Empty out your old expectations and practice expecting amazing
things to happen in your life…and they will!

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Did you define an intense problem and solve it within your
book? Congratulations! You now have the ingredients to make your
book a top seller in your field or expertise. With the right
mix, your book is destined to sell way more than its
competition. But, wait; don't rest in your success just yet. You
still have work to do to become a successful author with a book
selling way more than its competition.

After you have defined a problem and solution, researched your
competition, you now have to develop a different approach. With
all the books in the world on your topic, it's not enough to
know the solution; you have to present the solution in a
different way than existing books do.

You need to develop a way of making your book special. You need
a different viewpoint, a niche, and a unique spin on sometimes
the same information. Look at the problem again and the solution
your book solves with the goal of developing a way to describe
and present your knowledge in a different manner than existing
books.

Here are seven ways you can do this:

1. Affinity. Perhaps you have a relationship with a well known
organization that has benefited from your ideas. You can
repurpose your expertise by leveraging off your association: The
United Teachers Financial Program or the Stanford University
Weight Loss Program.

2. Benefits. Organize your existing information around benefits
of achieving the goal: Free Again, Healthy Again!

3. Broad market. Consider appealing to a broad market: Lose 14
Pounds in 14 Days: A Guide for Baby Boomer Men & Women.

4. Experience. Target your niche market with their previous
experience with a topic, i.e. The Last Diet Book You'll Ever
Need!

5. Focal point. Attack a huge problem by emphasizing a
particular tool or technique that you have experience with. For
example, show how cancer survivors can regain their health and
vitality faster through herbs, minerals and raw plant foods.

6. Market section. You can develop a niche by focusing on an
age group, profession, or sex, i.e. Lose 14 Pounds in 2 Weeks: A
Guide for the new 40, Lose Weight Safely Before, During and
After Multiple Birth Pregnancy.

7. Program. I love easy steps; don't you find yourself looking
for the easy way out? Support your solution on the way you solve
a large problem by breaking it into steps or ways, i.e. eBook
It: 10 Ways to Profit from Your Passion Program for ebook
writing.

You might notice in each one of the above examples of the same
market, the contents of the book would most likely be the same!
The books would contain the same basic thoughts, suggestions,
guidelines, etc. For example, all the books about diets would
probably stress the significance of eating right, choosing the
right foods in right portions and daily exercise. Yet, each book
presents a different viewpoint targeting a different market.

So, don't be afraid to approach the same subject as existing
books. Focus in on your unique ideas and viewpoint. Remember,
according to the writer of Ecclesiastes, "There's nothing new
under the sun." Bernice Fitz–Gibbon said, "Creativity often
consists of merely turning up what is already there. Did you
know that right and left shoes were only thought up only little
more than a century ago."

Are you ready to write a book to sell way more than its
competition? Did you find a way to present your book of
solutions in a different way? Great! Now that you know how to
make your book unique, go ahead take the plunge. Don't hesitate
any longer. Start today. Your audience is waiting for YOUR
solution-oriented ideas and viewpoint. Make it different. Make
it count. Make it yours.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
One of the important things you need to consider when you look
into network marketing is choosing a good Multi-level marketing
company. There are many companies out there but not all of them
are legal and above board. Some are run by rank amateurs others
by unscrupulous scammers. However not all are bad and you will
need to be able to differentiate between them here are some
points to help you research the MLM company before you begin.

1. Check out the company: when choosing a good MLM company it
is wise to do your research into the actual company. Are they a
solid strong company that is well established? Do they have a
good reputation? You can check out their credentials on the
forums, and Google search. They should also have an about us
page describing their company.

2. Do they have good training? It is important for any company
that you join to provide good training. This will not only help
you but your team members. Leads will be more inclined to join
your opportunity if there is good training available. They will
feel confident that the company wants them to succeed and be
more inclined to join. You will also feel better working for a
company that cares about their members.

3. Do they have good reliable support? A good company will have
an easy way to contact them. They will offer a web form, and a
phone number. When you call them you should not just get sent to
a recording but are able to talk with a live person. Some
companies even offer live help. The more ways they have to
contact them the better it is and the more confident you will
feel about them.

4. Commissions: Be sure that there is a good system for getting
your commission. Ideally you should be able to get compensated 3
ways. One for selling product, secondly for recruiting team
members and thirdly a bonus for getting a certain amount of team
members or selling a certain amount of product. Be sure to read
all the fine print about this, as this area can be a little
confusing and some companies do not pay well.

5. Products: Never join a company that emphasizes recruiting
only and has no real product. Companies that rely on recruiting
alone are known as pyramid schemes. You will be very unlikely to
make any money on these. Besides they are illegal in many states
in the USA and also in a lot of countries. You do not want to
get in trouble with the law for just a little money. It is
important to like your company's products and feel proud to sell
them. You will often recruit team members by selling product to
them and if they like the product they will also feel good about
selling it to others.

With these few points you will find it easier to choose a good
MLM company. Do your research well and read everything you can
before you sign up. If possible sign up for free and check the
company out before you pay any of your hard earned money.

Famous Quotes by Vince Lombardi During Football's Annual Bowl Season
Copyright © 2007 Ed Bagley

College football's annual bowl season is full of surprises
and spectacular moments. Famous coaches have had some
memorable remarks about American's most popular sport, and
here are some of them by legendary Green Bay Packer coach
Vince Lombardi, who many consider to be the best of the
best.

Lombardi's head coaching record in the National Football
League was second to none. In 9 years with the Green Bay
Packers, Lombardi's regular season won-loss percentage was
73% (96-34-6), his postseason was 90% (9-1) and his total
was 75% (105-35-6).

He took a 1-10-1 team in 1958 to an NFL title in 3 years,
and went on to win 5 NFL titles in 9 years (1961, 1962,
1965, 1966 and 1967) and three titles consecutively. He led
the Packers to the first two Super Bowl titles in 1966 and
1967.

Lombardi's discipline was legendary. A lifelong Catholic,
he spent 4 years in Cathedral Preparatory Seminary to
become a Catholic priest before becoming a standout
football player at St. Francis Preparatory High School.

An undersized guard at 5 foot 8 and 185 pounds, he was
offered and accepted a football scholarship to Fordham
University in the Bronx to play for "Sleepy" Jim Crowley,
one of the Four Horsemen of Notre Dame in the 1920s. He
would become part of the "Seven Blocks of Granite" that
held Fordham's opponents scoreless several times during a
25-game winning streak.

After coaching at Fordham, Lombardi became the offensive
line coach for West Point under another legendary head
coach, Colonel Red Blaik. Lombardi then became the
offensive coordinator for the New York Giants, working with
defensive coordinator Tom Landry and head coach Jim Lee
Howell, before becoming Green Bay's head coach in 1959.

Lombardi was 59 years old when he died of cancer in 1970.
Grown men and Hall of Fame football players openly wept at
his funeral.

Here are some of Vince Lombardi's best known quotes:

"If it doesn't matter who wins or loses, then why do they
keep score?"

"I firmly believe than any man's finest hour, the greatest
fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when
he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies
exhausted on the field of battle-victorious."

"There is no room for second place. There is only one place
in my game and that is first place. I have finished second
twice in my time at Green Bay and I never want to finish
second again."

"Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing."

"Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence."

"The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender."

"Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser."

"Once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit."

"If you can accept losing, you can't win."

"Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection
we can catch excellence."

"Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice
makes perfect."

"Success demands singleness of purpose."

"It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you
get up."

"It's easy to have faith in yourself and have discipline
when you're a winner, when you're number one. What you got
to have is faith and discipline when you're not a winner."

"The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have."

"We didn't lose the game; we just ran out of time."

"Teamwork is what the Green Bay Packers are all about. They
didn't do it for individual glory. They did it because they
loved one another."

"The difference between a successful person and others is
not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather
a lack of will."

"Coaches who can outline plays on a black board are a dime
a dozen. The ones who win get inside their player and
motivate."

Here are some quotes by Lombardi's players:

"When Lombardi said 'sit down,' we didn't look for a
chair." - Forrest Gregg, Hall of Fame tackle.

"He prepared us so well, and he motivated us so well, I
felt he was a part of me on the field." Fuzzy Thurston.

"He pushed you to the end of your endurance and then beyond
it. And if there was reserve there, well, he found that
too." Henry Jordan, Hall of Fame defensive tackle.

"He made us better than we thought we could be." Jerry
Kramer.

"Coach Lombardi showed me that by working hard and using my
mind, I could overcome my weakness to the point that I
could be one of the best." Bart Starr, Hall of Fame
quarterback.

"The fear in my mind was not him but that for some reason I
would not be a part of the team and be with this man."
Forrest Gregg.

"He made you a believer. He told you what the other team
was going to do, and he told you what you had to do to beat
them, and invariably he was right." Willie Davis, Hall of
Fame defensive back.

(Editor's Note: I have read and studied one of the best
biographies on Lombardi: When Pride Still Mattered: A Life
of Vince Lombardi. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author
David Maraniss, I highly recommend his book as a great
read.)

Famous Quotes by Knute Rockne During Football's Annual Bowl Season
College football's annual bowl season is full of surprises
and spectacular moments. Famous coaches have had some
memorable remarks about American's most popular sport, and
here are some of them by legendary Notre Dame coach Knute
Rockne, who many consider to be the best of the best.

Knute Rockne's head coaching record in college football was
second to none, and his won-loss percentage is better than
any other college or pro coach ever.

In 13 years with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Rockne's
regular season won-loss percentage was 90% (105-12-5), his
winning percentage among all games was 86%, and he led
Notre Dame to 6 national championships, winning titles in
1919 (9-0), 1920 (9-0), 1924 (10-0), 1927 (7-1-1), 1929
(9-0) and 1930 (10-0). Five of his 6 national championships
came from undefeated teams. Along the way he coached the
immortal George "Gipper" Gipp, whose multiple skills lifted
Notre Dame to national fame, and the "Four Horsemen"
backfield of Harry Stuhldreher, Don Miller, Jim Crowley and
Elmer Layden that led the Fighting Irish to a 28-2 record.

While covering a Notre Dame football game, sportswriter
Grantland Rice penned the famous opening story
line-"Outlined against a blue-gray October sky, the Four
Horsemen rode again"-that has become legend in sports
history.

Rockne's influence on the game of football was immense. He
is credited with helping popularize the forward pass,
initiating intersectional rivalries, building a national
schedule, and instituting the "Rockne Shift", a backfield T
formation that quickly shifted into a box formation to the
right or left as the ball was snapped. Hewas also the first
coach to realize the market potential of football as an
entertainment medium and openly promoted Notre Dame
football by courting the media for free advertising so
Notre Dame's football program would be financially
successful.

Knute Rockne was a Norwegian immigrant who graduated magna
cum laude from Notre Dame in 1914, played end for the
Fighting Irish that defeated the highly-ranked Army team
for the first time in 1913, and was a graduate assistant in
chemistry before eventually becoming Notre Dame's head
coach in 1918. A Protestant, he converted to Catholicism
later in life.

Following his undefeated, 6th national championship team in
1930, Rockne died at age 43 as a passenger in a tragic
Fokker airplane accident that would help revolutionize the
transportation business and lead to the all-metal Boeing
247 aircraft. He was inducted into the College Football
Hall of Fame in 1951 as a charter member.

Here are some of Knute Rockne's best known quotes:

"Four years of football are calculated to breed in the
average man more of the ingredients of success in life than
almost any academic course he takes."

"At home we're the hosts, and I never liked the idea of
being embarrassed in front of our friends."

"On the road we're somebody else's guests - and we play in
a way that they're not going to forget we visited them."

"We count on winning. And if we lose, don't beef. And the
best way to prevent beefing is - don't lose."

"Let's win one for the Gipper."

"I've found that prayers work best when you have big
players."

"It isn't necessary to see a good tackle. You can hear it."

"One loss is good for the soul, too many losses is not good
for the coach."

"Show me a good and gracious loser and I'll show you a
failure."

"Yes, I know that you feel you are not strong enough.
That's what the enemy thinks too. But we're gonna fool
them."

"The secret is to work less as individuals and more as a
team. As a coach, I play not my eleven best, but my best
eleven."

"One man practicing sportsmanship is better than a hundred
teaching it."

"Most men, when they think they are thinking, are merely
rearranging their prejudices."

The tools available on today's internet magnify the viral
aspects of marketing. Social bookmarking and the online social
networks can elevate a clever gimmick to global exposure within
hours. It can be so dramatic that a few servers have been known
to melt when pushed to 100% CPU utilization for extended
periods. So the question is: what can you do to generate that
type of publicity?

The most obvious answer is to do something controversial. By
definition, exactly what that is can't be simply described. If
it was a formula-driven activity, everyone would do it and it
would no longer be controversial. True creativity will dictate
which stunts will succeed and which will fail. But a mere
consciousness of the objective can increase the odds of a good
idea drifting into your mind.

Once crafted, it only takes 10 minutes on Digg or Delicious or
StumbleUpon and you could have thousands of visitors at your
website. Indeed, if its truly clever, word could spread around
the world in an hour or less.

Another approach might be to conduct a survey and then publish
the results on your website. Done properly, surveys are more
intriguing than ever. There's so much hype out there that
people no longer know who or what to believe. A clear and
well-crafted survey can yield some fascinating statistics and
insights on a particular subject.

You might read this suggestion and immediately expect
significant costs and time to complete such a survey but nothing
could be further from the truth. Nobody said you had to do a
full scientific process. You can create a short list of
questions and stand out on a street corner during lunch hour and
approach twenty people. Already with such a small sample size,
you can get a good idea how the population feels about one topic
or another.

This could be an activity you do on a regular basis, each time
reporting the results on your website. In fact, you could look
at Yahoo Buzz and get an idea what people are searching for on a
particular day, draft a list of 10 questions to do with that
topic, conduct the survey, post the results and then announce it
on Digg, Delicious and StumbleUpon. Doing so could regularly
drive a flood of traffic to your website.

Depending on the seriousness of the subject, you could also
send out a press release on one of the major wire services,
announcing the survey results to a broader audience. Make sure
the topic is timely and your title catchy before you send it
out. Bland press releases quickly get buried on wire services.
But a well written announcement can get picked up all across the
country and beyond.

Some people are naturally better at the publicity game than
others. Truthfully, I'm not the best at it. But these pointers
can help just about anyone (including me) get a few success
stories under my belt. Sit down, get creative and find
something you can exploit to peak the interest of people all
over the internet. If you hit something hot, it can change your
business overnight.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
I hear so many retirees say they are bored. This sentiment also
takes the form of, "I don't have enough to do to fill my time."
If you are bored or you find yourself with far too much spare
time, you are not alone.

There are two main types of responses to boredom or lack of
purposeful activity: depression or intentional effort to try new
things. I always encourage people to try to come up with a
combination of activities that are fun, good for you and good
for others. As you know, I have a strong commitment to becoming
involved in helping others. One of the reasons is that when we
help others we are doing something that is good for them and
good for us.

I suggest you try some things that are growth experiences for
you, some things that are just plain fun, and some things that
help others. You will want to give some thought to the ways you
fill your time. It is important to choose things that are right
for you.

To help you think about rewarding and enjoyable activities,
here is a list of fifteen great things you might do with your
time in retirement.

1. Volunteer to read to children at the local library.
2. Volunteer to read to someone at a local assisted living
facility.
3. Sign up for a class that interests you.
4. Take a friend, go to the zoo, and spend an afternoon
entertaining the animals.
5. Spend time with others who share your interest in a craft,
game, sport or hobby.
6. Volunteer to help a non-profit organization.
7. Play with a child.
8. Join a fitness group.
9. Spend one afternoon each week at a museum or art gallery.
10. Tutor students.
11. Devote time regularly to appreciating and enjoying nature.
12. Help with deliveries for Meals on Wheels.
13. Get involved with a program or group connected with your
religious organization.
14. Start your own small business.
15. Share your knowledge and talents by taking a part-time job

Hopefully, these ideas will start your thinking. You can
probably think of hundreds of things you might enjoy. So why not
do them? Call a friend – many things are more fun when shared
with a friend – and set a time to do something new and
different. The new activity will fill your time. More
importantly, you might find that you like doing things that help
others.

The next step is to think creatively about the things you enjoy
doing and plan for those activities in your schedule. You should
then include some time for things it is important to you to do,
such as volunteering. Allow some time for the chores that are a
necessary part of every life. But don't forget to plan some time
and activities that reinforce the important relationships in
your life and provide fun and relaxation. These are the steps to
achieving balance in your life. Balance keeps us on an even
keel. You can create a retirement lifestyle that balances fun,
family, purpose and pursuing your passions!

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Is there anything more comforting than a hand-knit baby
blanket? It is one of those things that we all have fond
childhood memories of, and therefore knitting one is more than
just a way to pass the time till baby arrives it's a way of
showing baby how much you care.

One of the nicest imagination that anyone can make when they
know someone having a baby is to create a handmade baby gift.
It's a enjoyable way to spend their time to someone beaten with
crafting. A knitted blanket is one item that the baby can get
good use of and the parents will cherish it for years to come.
With the inexpensive cost of yarn and a free knitting pattern
for baby blanket, this is an affordable and very desirable gift.

Knitting it's still being done by millions of people all over
the world although isn't as popular as it once was. It's a
relaxing hobby that keeps the fingers nimble. As an experienced
knitter can take a pattern for baby blanket and create an
property in no time. You'll be able to to create beautiful,
handmade items even though if you haven't yet discover the joy
of knitting, it doesn't take long to pick it up before you know
it.

For those individuals who are interested, many communities
offer crafting classes. It's not uncommon to see scrap booking,
pottery and knitting classes taking place. You can be able to
locate a class that will help you create a blanket for an
infant. The fees for this type of class will generally include
instruction, the yarn as well as a knitting pattern for baby
blanket.

This is certainly achievable if you'd rather learn at home by
yourself. We can learn almost any skill through the aid of the
Internet. All you need to do is locate the website that explains
the fundamentals of knitting. It takes some practice to get the
hang of this skill. It's certainly not complicated and many
people attempt something small such as a dish cloth before
diving into a larger project.

Knitting it's a skill that once you pick up, will be with you
for your entire lifetime. Nothing is quite as special as
creating something by hand. Knitting isn't something only
elderly ladies in retirement homes do, it's a fun and
interesting hobby that anyone of any age can attempt. Just
imagine the pride you'll feel when you take a pair of knitting
needles, some yarn, a knitting pattern for baby blanket.

Or if you don't want that kind of hobby being creating your own
baby blankets the another choice here is having a personalized
baby blankets were you can find it on the market. The concept of
creating a special blankly just for your little one is really
appealing to many parents. I love that this item will be a
keepsake for my daughter to have in her collection of
sentimental objects. The idea of creating personalized baby
blankets is inventive but it isn't a brand new concept.

In the past few years many moms have made monogrammed blankets
for their babies. Personalized baby blankets are really spin
offs of an old tradition that many families carried for
generations and this makes the whole thing extra special to me.
I love the idea of infusing a bit of history with the gift.

I also love that I am not the one who will be making the
personalized baby blankets for my kids. I just need some focus
on choosing the right one for each child. It's a rare occasion
when a mom thinks about personalized baby blankets for children
she hasn't had yet.

Fleece is always a winner when it comes to keeping little ones
warm. Fleece blankets are soft and soothing and are made up of
natural wool fibers that allow the baby to breathe and keep
him/her warm and comfortable. However, I decided to skip this
material for my child because it can often be a little too warm.
Personalized baby blankets made from this material are best
suited for cold climates. I did like the satin trim on this one,
though.

There are also personalized baby blankets that have lace trim
but this just seems too coarse for an infant. I would assume
that these items are mostly for show rather than for use. I like
the idea of my daughter caressing up to her blanket for comfort
better than the idea of having a nice nursery decoration.

While chenille seemed like the perfect choice for my infant, I
saw something that really took my breath away in personalized
baby blankets. The character blankets are the perfect merge
between a stuffed animal and a comfort blanket. These
personalized baby blankets also have satin trim for the little
one to feel.

Surprising as it may seem, I'm still having trouble choosing
which of the personalized baby blankets to choose. I love the
idea of the stuffed animal but I also love the look of the
chenille throw as well. I guess that I might just have to get
two. And it's time to create a beautiful gift for a newborn
infant.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
For those who have a small home, or live in a studio apartment,
one of the best and easiest methods to make their home appear
larger and to make more efficient use of the available space is
to divide some of the larger open plan rooms. For instance you
can separate the kitchen into a cooking area and a dining area.

There may be other reasons for dividing a room as well, such as
to direct attention to a particular area of the room, to hide
clutter created by children, and to manage the light inside the
room. If correctly and tastefully handled, this division will
add a unique distinguishing characteristic to that house. You
can make the house cozier and warm as well as elegant and
classical using room dividers.

It can be done in numerous ways and number of room dividers can
be used. Some of which we will list below, however you shouldn't
be limited by them but should try to use your imagination
creatively.

Types of Room Dividers

Room dividers can be permanent, improvised or flexible. Which
type of room dividers to use, will depend on the house owner's
needs and requirements.

A half height or half width wall can be considered a permanent
room divider. Such a wall will go half way across the room and
half way up to the roof creating a division in the room. You
should opt for a permanent divider only if you are not going to
change the room arrangement in the near future. It can be used
with other sorts of room dividers to completely separate the
room. Such a wall combined with shelves mounted on it will give
you more storage space as well. For instance you may want to
divide a bedroom into a sleeping area with bed on one side and a
study area on the other side. You can then put your books and
other study materials on the shelves on the wall.

Shelves, cupboards, and other furniture can be used as
improvised room dividers. They can be used in a similar way to a
low wall to divide a bedroom or any other room. Large book
shelves are commercially available for this very purpose.

You can also use large plants as improvised room dividers.
Plants that can be used include palm trees, bamboos, and various
crotons, among others. Using exotic, rare and expensive plants
can make this kind of division extremely attractive as a
decorative method. Wooden frames containing potted plants are
commercially available for this purpose. You too can create
similar framed pots. Wooden or metal trellis with plants and
vines on them can also be used. Some of the plant pots can be
hung from the roof. They will create an impression of division
when correctly placed even if you can easily communicate between
the two sides.

Flexible Room Dividers

Panels and screens are popular flexible room dividers. These
panels can be made of various materials and can be moved in to
position by sliding or folding. Using their flexibility you can
gain a large degree of control over the space in the room. They
can be made to match any decorative ideas you have. For
instance, by using bamboo and paper screens you can give your
rooms an Asian look. Bamboo or fiber glass sticks placed
together can be used to create a modern looking attractive room
divider screens as well.

If you have the money you can buy some antiques or pseudo
antique screens made of wood to add a touch of history and age
to your rooms. Using embroidered fabrics mounted on screens is
another good idea. The design of the embroidery can be made to
match the design of the rest of the room's wall hangings and
upholstery. Since they can be taken down and replaced with other
designs, available variety in decoration is endless. Screens and
panels also allow you to control the amount of light that
filters to each side of the partition.

Curtains are another great flexible room divider. They are easy
to install. You have to install the hanging rods on the ceiling.
Once installed you just have open or close the curtain to
separate or unite the room. The large curtain will then become
one of the main decorative items in the both parts of the room.
It could set the tone for the whole room. You can vary the
curtain's material, design, and color, to create that tone.

Other types of room dividers include glass dividers, which can
be used to create a physical division while maintaining contact
between the separate halves of the room. Glass room dividers
also create an illusion of extra space by making the rooms
appear larger than they are.

You can also create your own room dividers suing everyday
materials. For instance using painted cardboard, pictures, or
any other material, you can easily create a screen, a panel, or
even a sculpture, that is attractive to look at, which can then
be used as a room divider.

You can also use lamps to divide a room. Floor lamps placed
strategically can do this alone or in combination with other
improvised room dividers. The way the light is filtered to each
side of the rooms can be used to create an impression of
division as well.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Lucid dreaming is the art of being able to realize that you are
in a dream state without actually waking up from your dream.
Once you do this, you can you control what you dream about.

Put like that, it sounds simultaneously easy and scary.

After all, dreams are kind of weird anyway. So why would you
want to take control of them?

There are lots of reasons:

* There may be things that you've always wanted to do, but
can't. These often take the form of wild fantasy - going on a
date with Paris Hilton, for instance. Or maybe you want to fly
high above the clouds and look down at the earth from space. For
most of us mere mortals, these are things that qualify as one
hundred percent fantasy. But in a dream state, they are
perfectly feasible. In fact, in your lucid dreams these feats
and more will be easy and seem normal.

* You may want to use your dream time as extra rehearsal for an
important business meeting, a speech you have to deliver or even
something like a driving test. Using the eight or so hours a day
that you sleep to improve your skills, techniques and studies is
a really good way of using this "down time" with very little
extra effort on your part.

* Or you could decide that some dreams are nastier than you
would like them to be - we often refer to these as nightmares -
and you want to be able to turn them around and make them more
pleasant. If your dreams always involve you falling or running
away from vicious people or creatures, learning the art of lucid
dreaming could be the turning point you're looking for.

When you decide to learn the art of lucid dreaming, all of
these scenarios and many more start to become possible.

Start off by writing your dreams down in a journal that you
keep close by your bed. As soon as you wake up, make it a habit
to pick up your dreams journal and write down as much as you can
remember.

Dreams are very slippery. If you don't capture them quickly,
the vivid images you experienced will evaporate into the past,
never to resurface. There will be nothing left apart from the
memory that you "had a good dream last night".

The better you are at keeping this journal and the more dreams
you capture this way, the more you will start to remember what
you dream about. This is the first step to being able to then
control your sleeping hours.

Once you've been keeping a dream journal for a few days, you'll
likely find that you start to remember more and more of your
dreams. You'll find yourself writing more detail. That's a good
sign that you're on your way to being ready to become a master
lucid dreamer, where you will be able to control what you dream
about without waking yourself up in the process.
