Back pain has come to affect the world in a big way. These days
every other person complains about back pain. The hectic modern
day life is taking its toll. An increasing number of people in
the world have had to lose work time due to back pain.

Among the Americans below 45 years of age, back pain has become
the most common cause for a visit to the doctor. The recovery
does not take more than a week or so but the back pain gradually
starts rising in many cases. The yearly economic price of back
pain problem that the US is paying has been estimated at around
$75 billion.

However, back pain is not something insurmountable and can be
taken care of if one took due precautions. There are a few
things than one could do to reduce one's chances of suffering
from back pain.

Among the most essential things is a reduction in body weight.
So, if you are lugging a few extra pounds, it could put undue
load on your spine and become a reason for back pain in the long
run. Start as balanced diet program and take to regular physical
exercise. The extra weight would soon go away.

Another thing that you can do is strengthen the core muscles
around your spine, which include lower back muscles, abdomen and
thigh muscles.

Incorporate stretching exercises in your exercise regimen.
Stretching exercises improve one's flexibility, which prevents
sudden injuries. Hamstrings and muscles in the lower back must
be paid special attention to in this regard.

Wrong posture has been found to be a major cause of back pain.
Therefore, working on one's posture helps prevent back pain to a
great extent. So, stop slouching and stooping and while you are
sitting, sit with your back straight.

Improve your lifting technique in order to prevent injury. Do
not just stoop and lift the object. Go down, squat by the
object, hug it close to your body and come up on your feet.
That's the best way to lift the object. Even if the object is
not all that heavy, use the right way to lift because even
relatively lightweight objects have been found to injure the
back if and when lifted improperly.

In addition to the above, do stick to a regular exercise
regimen. Regular physical exercise is your best defense against
back pain. So, do not overlook its importance even if you run a
packed schedule. It pays to invest a little time oneself.

Every golfer is looking for a way to better their game, and
trying to improve their swing through trial and error make it a
frustrating game. The majority of new golfers are self-taught,
and until they take the game up seriously, it is an uphill
battle trying to even learn the basics of the golf swing. So how
does the new golfer find a short cut for a better game, without
taking the fairways apart in frustration?

In learning a new challenge, you have to take one small step at
a time. Start off with the smaller steps, or goals, and slowly
working towards the bigger goals. The game of golf has a short,
medium and big swing. Once you learn the short swing and game,
work your way up to the big swing and game. Golf is all in
finding the feel of your golf swing. This golf tip will surely
improve anyone's game, once they find the balance and feel of a
pendulum golf swing in motion. The following golf practice tip
will help you understand the golf swing and what it takes to
make it work effectively.

Place yourself around a green or a target with a 7 iron,
pitching wedge and approximately 10 to 15 golf balls. If you are
on a practice range, try and find an obstacle to go over during
the practice. It will boost your confidence on the golf course.
Step away from the golf balls and practice short swings with
your feet together glancing at your attended target. Do not
attempt to hit a golf ball until you feel comfortable with your
short swing. If you must, hit one golf ball with your desired
club to find and feel the distance for your attended target. Use
very little wrist action on the take-away and follow through
creating a v shape with the arms. Try to find and feel the
pendulum motion of the golf club by grazing the grass, as you
swing away glancing at the attended target.

Your goal is to find and feel the pendulum motion of the golf
club making contact with the ball with your feet together. You
will notice how your upper portion of the body will
automatically coil on it's own, and you lower body will move in
unison with your upper body. Once you find the pendulum feeling
of the golf club and swing, take a bigger swing. Gradually learn
to sweep the grass with a quarter, half, three quarter and a
full swing. You will notice yourself losing balance as you take
fuller swings, and have to gradually move your feet apart until
you find a balanced comfort zone.

With enough practice and effort, your golf score will improve
dramatically with the knowledge of what it takes to make a ball
bounce off the face of a golf club with a pendulum motion of the
golf swing, once you find the balance and feel of a short swing
and game. Practicing this golf tip frequently will also help in
choosing the right club and swing, for distance in your short
game.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Smoking often gets started as a fun among friends and ends with
ruining one's life personally as well as professionally. People
who are used to smoke at regularly basis are not only at
potential risks of getting deadly diseases like cancer but also
make people surrounding them vulnerable to these diseases. Your
puffs can wreck your relationships. Thus, it is always better to
restrain oneself from smoking. But if one has got webbed with
this vicious habit, he needs to quit his habit of smoking for
his welfare and for the sake of well being of his family. Though
it is never easy to quit smoking if you have become a chain
smoker, but few things can really help of you get over with this
sin.

First and most important is self belief. You have to entrust
yourself that you can quit. To make your belief, you need to
recollect the bad experiences you have encountered in past and
then the way you emerged as a winner over those conditions and
circumstances. This helps you to imbibe a confidence level in
yourself that you have the power to quit this bad habit of
yours. You have faced many more difficult situations than this
and handled them well, so this is another bad phase of yours you
need to overcome.

The next thing is to have a self control over you also called
self control. You need to show your resistance and will power
whenever someone offers you cigarette. You can get drool for a
single puff and one generally thinks from next time I will not
smoke. But there lies the problem. You console yourself to be
resistant next time but sad, this way next time never comes up.
Make a commitment with your loved one and always keep in your
mind that you are going to ditch her/ him by taking even a
single puff of cigarette. Just remember that person and think
can you accept that person ditching you? If no, then you need to
stop yourself as you are doing the same thing and that person
can't accept you not keeping the promise you made with her/ him.

Another factor which proves how fast you quit smoking is how
long you can sustain your commitment to quit smoking. It is
pretty easy for a person to keep his resolution of not to smoke
for a shorter period but it needs real commitment from you to
make it a long term decision. Without effective support of
family and friends it is hard to keep your resolution. Ask your
family and friends to push you hard to not to allow you to smoke
whatever plea you can take and if possible for you, ask them to
punish you if you got caught smoking. Another way to sustain the
will to quit smoking is to jot down on a paper your reasons to
quit and benefits. Make a habit to read that paper every day.

Just following these simple ways, you can overcome your habit
of smoking.

If you have previous credit problems on your record and need to
purchase a car, you may need to apply for what is called a bad
credit used car loan. A bad credit used car loan will allow you
to purchase a vehicle, but you will usually be expected to pay
it off in a shorter time frame and at a higher rate of interest.

Today many traditional car lenders are offering extended
payment terms; some allow you up to seven years to pay off the
vehicle. A bad credit used car loan usually must be repaid
within a 48-month time frame. Since the vehicle you are buying
is used and your amount financed will be less, the lender
expects the loan to be paid off in a shorter amount of time.

Research the Prices of Used Cars

Before making an offer on a used car, you should research the
average price value. By doing this you will know if a dealer has
inflated the price in order to make an excessive profit. You
will want to make sure you are purchasing the car from a
reputable dealership.

There are a lot of companies who do most of their business with
customers who have less than perfect credit scores. Some of
these dealers may try to take advantage of customers. Just
because you have had credit problems in the past, this does not
mean you should pay an outrageous amount in interest rates or
other fees.

Shop Online For a Lender

Online auto loan lenders make applying for a loan quick and
convenient. By applying online you will have access to several
lenders and their rates. Applications for online auto loans can
be filled out in just a short time and the approval is almost
always granted the same day.

An important point to remember when applying for a used car
loan on bad credit is that banks have limits to how old of a
vehicle you can purchase. The majority of banks will not grant
loans to vehicles more than four or five years old. You should
also try to make a substantial down payment when purchasing a
used car. This will lower both the interest rate you are charged
and the length of the loan.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Some people say that the first five years of marriage is the
hardest, some others say it’s the first seven years.

But, do you know that those numbers are not significant? No
matter how long or short the age of your marriage is, problems
will always be there. Those having been married for fifteen
years or more can be trapped into any troubles.

So, both spouses need to put all their effort to make the
marriage work. It can’t be just the wife or the husband.
It takes two to tango.

What to do then?

•Communication

The most crucial thing in a marriage is communication. If it
doesn’t go well, consider your marriage over. A good
communication is the key to a happy marriage. With it you can
express your thoughts and feelings to each other. It helps you
both create an understanding towards each other. If you have
problems, talk about them openly.

•Commit

Make sure that both of you are committed to make the marriage
work. This has to be one of the most important things to
consider before you say ‘I do.’ And, later, during
the years, you should restore your commitment to keep it fresh.

•Respect Each other

In any relationship, either it’s friendship or others, it
is important to have respect towards each other.

•Love and love

When you decided to get married, you had so much love for your
partner. Keep it alive by memorizing all your beautiful moments
together.

•Romance

Who says that married couple cannot date? Of course they can.
And, they have to, if they want to have a successful marriage
and avoid the most frightening word, ‘divorce.’

Don’t ever wish for a perfect marriage. Nothing is
perfect in this world. The most important thing is that both you
and your spouse are willing to have a happy marriage. Happiness
is enough. Happiness is all you need.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Austria, Switzerland and Andorra were among the European ski
countries last year who saw a decline in ski holiday visitors,
and Andorra has been investing in her facilities to try and
tempt the skiiers she lost back for the 2008 season.

In the past Andorra has grown in stature from a destination
offering cheap ski holidays to one that can compete with the
best that Europe has to offer, with a growing number of ski
holidays being taken in the country over the last decade to the
point where it was attracting some ten million tourists a year.

But unexpectedly the rise in visitors to Andorra came to a
screeching halt for the 2006/7 ski season, and the ski slopes
closed two weeks earlier than anticipated due to a lack of snow
that saw many other resorts in Europe, especially in countries
with low lying slopes like Austria, badly affected by the lack
of natural snow.

The Andorra economy is unusually reliant on the ski holidays
industry, the other main activity being the financial and
banking industry due to her tax haven status, and the weather in
Andorra refused to play her part last year. Some estimates
suggest takings for supermarkets, petrol stations, department
stores and supermarkets were down some 40 per cent compared to
2006 in the main ski holiday areas.

The good news for the Andorra ski holidays industry as it hopes
for an improved 2008 holidays season is that the snow - notably
absent last year - started to fall in November, and long range
weather forecasts suggest that January through to April could
see enough snow to give Andorra skiers good snow depth, and
little if any need for snow cannons to make up any shortfall.

But the tourist authorities are determined not to be caught out
again, and continue with the progress made in the last twenty
years that has seen Andorra rise impressively from a cheap ski
holiday destination to one that caters for the middle and
upmarket price range with UK ski holiday specialist companies
like Crystal Ski offering a full range of holidays in Andorra.

Private money as well as finance from the banks in Andorra have
helped to upgrade Soldeu, a main Andorra ski holiday resort, to
a high class status with new hotels and upgrades for existing
ones.

Andorra Weather

In total it is estimated that nearly 200 million Euros has been
invested in Andorra's on-mountain ski facilities, and the figure
rises significantly when off-mountain spending is taken into
account, such as the new hotels in Andorra, notably in the top
ski areas of Soldeu and Arinsal.

The ski areas of Andorra have been praised by many in the
industry for having the capability of producing enough man made
snow to cover over 40 per cent of the ski domain, but investment
has continued to further this already high amount by having for
the 2008 ski holiday season over a thousand snow cannons in
place - although it is hoped they don't have to be used much.

'The aim of the Andorra tourist authorities', comment local
travel guide YourAndorra.com, 'is to ensure that when skiiers
choose Andorra the resorts will do everything they can to make
their holiday a memorable one for all the right reasons - and to
see them again in future years as they decide Andorra is a good
skiing holiday destination.'

The upgrading of facilities and road infrastructure has also
increased interest from those looking for a European tax haven
and considering taking Andorra residency.

Andorra is one of the most sought after tax havens in Europe
with no income tax for her residents, and is second in
popularity only to Monaco, but enjoys the same tax benefits.

One of the big differences between the two is the cost of a
property. Real estate in Monaco is among the highest in the
world with a studio often costing over a million Euros, while
Andorra real estate is considerably less with good two bedroom
two bathroom apartments for sale from around 300,000 Euros.

To show the skiing fraternity that Andorra is capable of
meeting their expectations for the 2008 holiday season, and
importantly to meet the expectations of ski companies like
Thomson ski, Andorra will have 450 ski instructors over seven
different resorts, and to maintain her family friendly
atmosphere four creches.

All in all, Andorra will be able to compete as one of Europe's
top skiing destinations this year.

Survivor is one of the hottest shows on television today. Each
week, viewers tune in to see which contestant will be voted off
the island. Sometimes contestants are voted off because they're
too strong and may be a threat, but in many cases they're voted
off because they've done something to anger or annoy their tribe
mates. Too bad they don't have access to a phone or the
Internet. If they did, they could send their tribe mates
America's favorite apology gift-flowers!

Flowers are an exceptional way to acknowledge when you've made a
mistake. They allow you to break the ice and open the way for a
face-to-face apology when situations are tense. In a recent
survey, flowers received an enormous forty-nine percent of the
vote as the best apology gift, beating out even jewelry and
tickets to events. That's not too surprising, considering
they're also one of the gifts voted most likely to make you
smile.

In a study conducted at Rutgers University, the State University
of New Jersey, flowers were proven to have an enormous emotional
impact on those who receive them. Under the direction of
psychologist and internationally known expert in emotional
development in human behavior, Jeannette M. Haviland-Jones,
Ph.D., the study showed that those who received flowers
immediately felt happier than they had before receiving them.
And, the effect was shown to be long lasting. Flowers also made
the recipients more likely to connect with others.

Having all those wonderful abilities on top of their natural
beauty makes flowers a natural gift to send when you need to let
someone know how badly you feel about hurting them. And, you can
even personalize the gift by choosing the recipient's favorite
flowers or colors. A handwritten note of apology is also a
wonderful gesture. However, if you're unable to stop in at the
florist's to have the note included with the flowers, your
florist will be happy to dictate a note on a card he or she will
deliver along with the gift. In fact, your florist just might
have some ideas for helping you choose just the right message.

Sending flowers to someone you care about when the situation is
rocky can be a great way to get back into their good graces. So,
keep yourself on the island and continue to be a Survivor in your
relationships-pick up the phone and order some flowers to say,
"I'm sorry!"

Discover romance against the sparkling city skyline. Chicago, the
third largest city in the nation, is an exciting backdrop for a
truly memorable Valentine's weekend get-away.

A cultural explosion, this Illinois city lies on the massive
shore of Lake Michigan, offering the finest in soul, jazz, blues
and gospel music, mouth-watering deep-dish pizza, champion
sporting events and the city's famous Chicago hot dog.

Transportation is easy in the nation's hub, whether you arrive
by air, rail or auto. Quickly and cost-efficiently move from
Point-A to Point-B via Chicago's extensive metro, known locally
as The L. You can also make use of airport shuttles, city busses
or Chicago's historic and broad-reaching highway system.

When you visit, set aside a day to explore non-stop art
attractions and shopping in and around the business district. At
Armitage, you'll find prestigious shops and million-dollar
historical homes. Enjoy a more modern experience in the Wicker
Park and Bucktown neighborhoods, where you can grab a bite to eat
and order a drink at a local bar.

For a low, fixed price, Chicago's CityPass provides a steep
discount on, and front-of-the-line entrance to, five popular
tourist attractions including Adler Planetarium & Astronomy
Museum, Hancock Observatory, Field Museum, Museum of Science and
Industry, and Shedd Aquarium. Plus, don't forget the unbeatable
shopping opportunities that captivate you at Chicago's
Watertower Place, Michigan Avenue strip and Chicago Place where
you'll find Bloomingdales, Macy's Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue,
Lacoste, Movado, Tiffany's and countless one-of-a-kind boutique
shops.

For the true sports fan, this city is an unbeatable haven. In
2006, The Sporting News named Chicago, home of 16 professional
sports teams, the best sports city in the nation. Visitors can
plan to spend an action-packed day at Soldier Field, Wrigley
Field, US Cellular Field or United Center cheering on champion
teams like the Chicago Bulls, Cubs, Bears or White Sox or
Blackhawks. Chicago is also home to incredible indoor soccer,
hockey, lacrosse and rugby. Pick your event, book in advance and
experience the excitement. The day is guaranteed to be a winner.

For dinner, Chicago is renowned for it's eclectic dining choices
ranging from All-American to Korean, Italian and Mexican cuisine.
Whether you prefer a posh, upscale establishment or the trendy
Hard Rock Café, you'll find the hardest part is choosing just
one. Add icing to the cake by giving your sweet a devilish
fresh-baked cinnamon roll covered draped in sugary goodness from
Ann Sather or specialty pastries from some of the nation's most
incredible bakeries.

The evening is rich with shows and entertainment. Spend an
afternoon finding the ideal attire then leisurely enjoy a
delicious dinner. Then sit back and enjoy an night filled with
laughter and relaxation. Some options, requiring reservations,
include The Blue Man Group, an artistic multimedia performance,
or rotating shows at the Steppenwolf Theater, Goldman Theater,
Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Symphony Center. If you're in the
mood for something a bit more casual, visit B.L.U.E.S on Halsted
or Rosa's Lounge on Armitage, two unbeatable local blues bars,
The Hideout on Wabansia, an alternative folk and bluegrass bar,
The Velvet Lounge, offering an incredible jazz atmosphere, or
Green Mill on N. Broadway, former hangout for notorious gangster
Al Capone, presenting an intense weekly poetry slam and jazz
music.

The dance of the ballet is a dance is beautiful movements and
graceful flowing moves that beautifies the body. Ballet is a
dance that you cannot learn in a couple of months, it is a
graceful and beautiful dance with incredible moves, ballet takes
years to learn and many hours of practice. After ballet dancers
graduate from dance schools, the dancers will audition for dance
companies with the hope of performing on stage..

When looking at dance it is very structured in its movements,
dance is performed to a musical score and this enhances the
rhythm of the dance which enables you see the flowing physical
movements that is translated into happiness and the joy that
makes dance.

When dancing the ballet there are many unnatural moves but the
great dancers make the unnatural moves look very flowing and
natural. In France King Louis XIV founded the Royal Academy of
Dancing in 1661 to train dancers so they would perform in his
court.

There are no specific brands of shoes that schools require but
many encourage that girls wear pink and boys wear black or white
for ballet. Wear the proper clothes when dancing the ballet.
When choosing a shoe you could pick leather that is imitation
but they will wear out quickly it is best to purchase real
leather shoes. Be careful not to stick to the floor, if you
stick to the floor your ballet shoes will wear out faster than
normal, ballet shoes are meant to slide and if they stick you
could injure yourself. Ballet shoes wear out very quickly;
because of this fact many dancers purchase many pairs because
they go thru at least a dozen or more shoes each year. The sole,
strong yet flexible, helps younger dancers build strong feet.
Ballet shoes are designed in specific way to help movement;
ballet shoes structure helps dancers perform beautifully and the
design of the shoes makes it so the when the ballet dancer
dances it does not hurt their feet.

You need support for your feet while allowing access to all
your bones and muscles of your feet. The area covering the toes
and top of the foot is the vamp, while the opening nearest the
toes is the shoe's throat. The rear portion of the shoe that
encases the heel and sides of the foot is known as the quarter.
A dancer's experience, shape of the foot and strength should be
considered in finding the best shoe. How the bottom of the foot
contacts the floor is very important. When buying shoes you
should try them on first and take a couple of steps to make sure
the fit and are comfortable to wear.

Tights come in a variety of colors, with the most popular being
pink and black. Ballet tights are a standard part of the dress
code at ballet schools and in performances. Ballet tights are
tight-fitting leg coverings worn ballet performers.

When becoming a dancer most people do it for the dance and not
the money, the ballet pay is not usually very high, but there
are few dancers that practice and shine that do receive a
substantial income.

Your destiny will be greatly affected by how much energy and
care you put into everything that you do. Being very productive
in your days will reap many rewards over your lifetime. For
example, if you study hard and try to be an excellent student it
will give you skills that will be very useful in life,
possibilities for scholarships and further education, and
opportunities for better jobs. Putting care and attention into
your job can bring you promotion, more pay, and other job
opportunities. Working to make your home better than when you
purchased it will make it worth more and give you a more
enjoyable home. Making an effort to be a fair and kind person
and a good communicator will improve your relationships and make
them more rewarding.

Plan each day to include things you can look forward to and
rewards for getting your work done. This way you will be better
motivated to start your day and work well to finish. The object
should not be to work hard just so that you can work longer, but
to do good work so that you can enjoy doing your work, be
successful, and also enjoy having time off. Balancing working
efficiently with time off to restore yourself is the best
combination for success.

When you find your energy slowing in your workday, take a few
minutes to re-energize. Some people find that five minutes of
exercise will renew energy and make you feel more alert. You
could walk outside to clear your mind, or do jumping jacks or
jump rope indoors to raise your metabolism. Deep breathing
exercises, yoga, or stretching may also help. Getting your body
moving after it has been sitting for some time can help you to
feel more alert, as can switching between tasks, or changing
your location.

Set goals for your day, your week, and your month for your job
and personal life. This will help you to stay focused on what is
most important and not get distracted with less important
activities. Then, also designate time in each day for play,
socializing, or doing nothing. These hours of enjoyment are
necessary, too.

Couple's Unique (Pre-) Retirement Story

================== ARTICLE START ==================
The day had started great: a hearty and healthy breakfast at
the Lunenburg Inn was excellent preparation for a full day of
discovery. During the bright and sunny morning I headed out and
went on a walking tour through Lunenburg, a quaint and scenic
town on Nova Scotia's southern coast whose unique architectural
heritage has garnered it the coveted UNESCO World Heritage Site
designation. I capped off my local explorations with a visit to
the famous Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, a renowned museum
that celebrates the maritime heritage of Nova Scotia.

I had big plans for today: a scenic drive along the Lighthouse
Trail through scenic communities such as Mahone Bay and Peggy's
Cove to my final destination for today: Halifax, Nova Scotia's
capital. But before saying goodbye to this charming town I
wanted to find out a little bit more about the hospitality
entrepreneurs running the Lunenburg Inn. I am always interested
in the people behind the destinations, because the people are
really the key factor in any hospitality experience.

So with my suitcase packed and stashed safely in the car, I sat
down with Don and Gail Wallace, owners of the Lunenburg Inn, to
find out more about their personal story. Don started off by
telling me that he had spent 33 years with a Toronto-based
company in the warehousing and transportation business, holding
the title of Vice President towards the end of his tenure. He
felt it was time to make a significant change in his life, so he
and Gail sat down to discuss what options they might have. They
talked about downsizing their house and looking at a second
career that they could start together. They also wanted to
relocate away from the Toronto area and find a place where they
would be able to retire. So they started looking further afield.

One day in February of 1995 they noticed an advertisement in
the Financial Post for a place called the "Lunenburg Inn". This
struck a chord because both of them had been dreaming of
retiring near the ocean. So Don picked up the phone and got in
touch with the real estate broker. On a Sunday morning in
February he flew to Halifax and fell in love with Nova Scotia's
South Shore. Don adds that Lunenburg was not as pretty as it is
today, but even then he recognized the potential of this town.
He really liked the property a lot, although it would need a lot
of work. So he phoned Gail to share his positive impressions and
suggested that they both travel to Lunenburg the following
weekend to see the inn. All the necessary professional contacts
were initiated: the mortgage officer at the bank, the building
inspector, the real estate agent and the lawyer who would handle
the transaction. Don and his wife talked the idea over with
their grown-up children. The following Sunday afternoon there
was a meeting with the building inspector, after which Don
prepared the offer. On Monday morning the mortgage was approved
and shortly after lunch Don handed the realtor a cheque as the
downpayment for their retirement plan: the Lunenburg Inn.
Shortly after his arrival back in Toronto he received a call
from his realtor that they would now be the proud owners of an
inn as of May 1, 1995.

Ironically, the day that this real estate transaction was
completed Don had to go on a business trip to Vancouver, and he
and his colleague went out after work and celebrated with a
bottle of wine. It was not until months later that his coworker
found out that Don had a real reason to celebrate on this very
day: the beginning of his second career.

Back in Toronto Don wrote a letter of resignation to his
company's president who was very surprised since he and most
people in the company had assumed that Don was a "lifer", i.e.
that he would spend the rest of his working life at this
company. Don gave 6 months notice and would leave his position
as Vice-President by the end of August. This gave the couple
sufficient time to organize garage sales to get rid of unwanted
furniture in Toronto. On April 28 their van left at 5 am, packed
up their goods and arrived in Lunenburg on April 30. Don had
booked two weeks of vacation and his son came along to spend his
summer in Lunenburg – a perfect arrangement since Don still had
to wrap up his last few months with his company in Toronto.

So from May onwards Gail and their son Drew started to operate
the bed and breakfast. Their daughter came to join them in July,
she had just finished her last year of high school and was
starting a degree at Wilfred Laurier University in September.
Don was able to leave his position early since by the end of
July a replacement had been hired. So on August 1 the entire
family was united in Lunenburg.

The Lunenburg Inn was furnished when Don and Gail purchased it
but the owners had taken personal pieces that had been used in
the inn. The living room was very sparse and some rooms were
missing chairs and tables. So for the first few weeks, Gail and
her son Drew embarked on a nightly routine of furniture moving:
they needed to provide a full compliment to those rooms rented
for the night with the remaining furniture decorating the living
room for that night. That meant that furniture pieces
continuously had to be moved around from one room to another.
They had decided to leave their Toronto-area house furnished
while Don still lived there and to improve the chances of
selling it. It was sold only in late July (with a mid-August
closing) and Don had the moving company pack everything up in
the last week of July. The furniture arrived in Lunenburg in
mid-August and after its arrival they finally had a fully
furnished living room without the nightly furniture move.

The Lunenburg Inn had been an abandoned building, so it needed
a lot of work. From 1924 to 1979 it had been the "Hillside
Hotel", a 13-room hotel (with one bathroom!) next to the town's
train station. In the meantime the train service to Lunenburg
has been discontinued for many years. The property was abandoned
for a number of weeks just prior to being purchased by the
previous owners in 1988. When Don and Gail purchased the
property in 1995 the building was very tired and in need of a
complete redecoration and upgrading, including furnishings, to
bring it up to a 4 1/2 star property.

During their first winter of 1995 Gail stripped every piece of
furniture and diligently refinished it. All the couches and
armchairs were re-upholstered. Don himself learned how to fix
the plasterwork in this historic building, and in the dining
room the couple removed nine layers of wallpaper and four layers
of paint, all accumulated over the years since the building's
construction in 1893. Carpets were torn out and replaced, floors
were refinished. So far in the last 11 years, all the rooms have
been redecorated at least three times. Don feels very strongly
that a bed and breakfast should never look tired. His goal was
to make the Lunenburg Inn a warm, comfortable place with upscale
features.

Now the Lunenburg Inn is in its 12th season and it is still
holding up well. Don and Gail meanwhile are ready to start their
real retirement. Don informed me that about 40% of bed and
breakfast owners do not reopen after their third season, another
40% of B&B owners discontinue their business after 6 years. Only
5% of B&B owners make it to the 10-year mark. Don adds that
running the Lunenburg Inn was "his second and final career", and
he and Gail had committed to 10 years. Now 11 years later, they
are ready to move on into a well-deserved retirement.

But this industrious couple did not stop at being B&B owners:
from 1997 to late 2002 they also owned an M&M Meat Shop
franchise which meant that Gail managed the retail operation
while Don together with some hired help ran the bed and
breakfast. Gail would be at the store every day from 9 am to 6
pm, and Don would handle the ordering and the accounting for the
meat shop in addition to his duties at the inn.

Today, the couple is focusing on the Lunenburg Inn only. Their
day starts at 6 am when fresh muffins are baked for up to 19
breakfast guests. Guests can come to breakfast whenever it suits
their schedule. Don and Gail put a lot of effort into preparing
a healthy, filling and attractively prepared breakfast that
always includes a lot of fresh fruit. They work with a 7-day
rotation for the breakfast so none of the guests will get bored
of having the same dishes served twice in a row.

Breakfast takes place form 8 to 9:30 am and a helper in the
kitchen handles the plate layout, coffee and toast. Two
housekeepers help with the maintenance and cleaning chores, and
all the laundry for the inn is handled in-house. The Lunenburg
Inn opens from the beginning of May until late October. Don and
Gail have made a commitment that one of them will always sleep
in the house when the B&B is in operation. The guests may always
have potential needs, and it is important to have a competent
contact person on site.

Don and Gail are proud of the fact that the Lunenburg Inn was
the first 4.5 star property in Lunenburg, a property that
combines the "warmth of home" with Victorian charm. 75% of their
business stems from repeat customers and referrals, evidence of
their commitment to an outstanding hospitality experience.

Personally, they live in a separate private apartment on the
lower level of the inn, and during the winter season they like
to spend time with their children and go to South Carolina for a
couple of weeks. There is always stuff to be done around the
inn, and winter is the perfect time for redecorating or
upgrades. Don also likes to go curling about four to five
mornings in the week during the winter.

The Lunenburg Inn is currently listed for sale. Neither Don nor
Gail are in a rush to sell the property, and they realize that
it is going to take a special buyer who is going to be
interested in running this inn. Sometimes it could take as much
as three to five years to sell a property like this. Don and
Gail indicated that once the inn sells, they will stay in
Lunenburg, and buy a simple family home. They enjoy the weather
here: summers are less hot and humid than in Ontario, and there
is less snow and rain. Gail adds that during the first four
years in Lunenburg she did not even need winter boots. And falls
are simply gorgeous in this quaint community.

I realized that here was a couple who had made some very
strategic, well thought-out decisions about their retirement.
They knew exactly where they were going and what their next step
was going to be. Few of us are so lucky as to have such a clear
idea of where life is going to take us. With these thoughts in
mind I thanked Don and Gail for their warm hospitality, and set
off to continue my journey along the Lighthouse Trail to
Halifax.

One of the more challenging aspects of learning how to attract
prosperity is the ability to "know" you're prosperous - even
when you don't yet feel like you are!

When your outer circumstances keep reflecting the illusion of
lack, it's easy to get frustrated because you think your
attraction attempts aren't working. However, that very
frustration is what will keep you locked into the cycle of lack!

In order to break out of the illusion of lack, you have to use
the power of your will to diminish the energy you have invested
in it previously. How do you invest energy into the creation of
lack?

- By constantly thinking about it and focusing on it.

- By constantly affirming that it exists in your life.

- By complaining about it to others.

- By identifying with the lack you see in the world around you.

The more attention and energy you give to the existence of
lack, the more lack you attract back to yourself.

The good news is that you can also use this same process to
attract abundance and prosperity into your life, except you
focus on the opposite end of the spectrum!

- Constantly think about and focus on abundance and prosperity.
However, NOT from a place of need, fear or anxiety - but from a
place of joy, confidence and optimism that it is already yours.

- Constantly affirm that you are a natural prosperity magnet,
and great abundance flows into your life easily and frequently.

- Share the wonderful things that happen to you with others.
Rather than complaining about the bad stuff, share the good
stuff and encourage the people in your life to do the same.

- Pay attention to the great abundance that surrounds you at
all times. This includes the material possessions, people and
blessings you have in your life, but also the expressions of
abundance you encounter while out in the world. Rather than
feeling envious of rich and successful people, imagine that the
universe has just held up a mirror to let you know that YOU can
also be just as rich and successful.

Most importantly, develop the inner "knowing" that you can
CHOOSE prosperity and abundance, just as easily as you chose
lack and struggle.

You may not believe that you've chosen lack and struggle (who
in their right minds would?) - but it's very possible to choose
by default. Unless you consciously choose to be prosperous, it's
like sitting in the back seat of your car and expecting it to
deliver you to your desired destination. You actually have to
get behind the wheel and DRIVE! :-)

Try reciting this affirmation several times a day:

"I KNOW I am a powerful creator in my own right, and I CHOOSE
the harmonious flow of prosperity and abundance NOW."

When you first start saying it, you'll probably feel like
you're lying. That's because deep down inside, you really don't
"know" any such thing. But keep at it. Keep saying the
affirmation with strength and power and conviction in your
voice, and you really will start to believe it.

And that's when everything in your outer circumstances will
begin to shift toward the prosperity and abundance you "know"
you deserve.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Linear-thinking parents have a difficult time relating to the
issues associated with their child's ADD, and until their child
is diagnosed with attention deficit, they may not be aware of
ways in which they can change their parenting techniques and
make life better for their children and themselves. Parents who
also have attention deficit and have learned some coping
strategies can pass them along to their children, but some
adults were never diagnosed ADD at all. Whatever situation
you're in, these 5 steps will help you and your child to be
happier:

1) Avoid complication: When you send your child to get
something, don't ask for a knife, a fork, and a plate, because
he or she will probably come to you with one or two of the
three. Instead, send him or her for one thing at a time.

2) Come up with a cool game: Make this a family-oriented game
that rewards you for behaviors that are positive, like taking
one's turn in order, and takes points away for stepping out of a
line or yelling out answers when it's not your turn.

3) Make kids' teachers your friends: Schedule a time to sit
down with your kids' teachers. Make them aware of your child's
attention deficit issues and ask if you can have a list showing
when assignments are due, when quizzes or tests are on the
horizon, and anything else important to the class. Then, help
your kids to remember these dates and get their work in on time.

4) Give them a place to chill: Especially in grade school, kids
can be brutal, and kids with attention deficit suffer. If they
don't have a room of their own, set aside some part of your home
for them to unwind in. Make is as friendly to them as possible.

5) Make them a success: Study your children and decide what
delights them, where their talents lay, and what they can really
do well. Then, promote that activity and reward them lavishly
with praise when you see them progressing.

These 5 simple tips can make your life and your child's life a
bit easier. The key to making things work, whatever the
ADD-friendly tactic might be, is consistency. When you develop a
program like one of these, do it all the time, every time, and
you'll see that it will slowly work. Don't give up after a day
or two. Behavioral changes don't happen overnight. If you're a

deficit, join us to learn more coping mechanisms at Instant ADD

The iphone is an awesome expansion in the ability for
individuals to communicate. While some may dismiss the advent of
the iphone as a common electronics leisure item designed to
appeal to those with a need for high tech `toys', the reality of
the matter is that the expansion of any form of communicative
device has great potential beyond mere leisure and can
contribute greatly to the infrastructure of the economic
stability of a nation.

Now, this may seem on the surface to be a bold statement, but
in reality it is a somewhat reserved statement considering the
fact that all we need to due is look at human history to see how
tremendous the impact of the advent of communications devices.
In the 1860's, people learned of the Lincoln/Douglas debates by
their reprinting of their words in newspapers. Now, what is more
effective – reprinting speeches in a newspaper or watching the
speeches unfold on television.

Then again, look at television for that matter. Once considered
an obscene leisure item that offered little value, television is
now the primary means (for better or for worse) in which people
receive their news and information. The advent and expansion of
any form of communicative device can have a huge impact. When a
device such as the iphone comes along and dramatically combines
separate (and formerly bulky) communications devices into one
package, the impact can not be anything less that wildly
dramatic.

A business needs to move quickly in order to maximize its
profit potential. In other words, anything that contributes to
lag time or a slowing down of the ability of a business to move
about its, well, business keeps the business from driving its
resources towards where it will generate maximum income.

For example, relying on receiving snail mail letters for
important requested information is far, far less than desirable
than email because the wait time on reception of a letter can be
three days while a email is delivered in split seconds. There is
not comparison between the two. With snail mail, up to three
days of productivity can be lost. With the iphone and its
resultant impact, the ability to speed up productivity is
significantly magnified. As such, the impact of the iphone on
business can never be underestimated and in a short amount of
time the massive positive effects of it on businesses will
clearly become self apparent. In that regard, the iphone clearly
endorses it self quite well in terms of stimulating purchasing
interest.

Before you hire any contractor there are several questions that
you will want to ask. After all, they are going to be performing
work on your home so you want to make sure that you know what
you are getting. Plus, when you ask questions you will have a
much better chance of unearthing any information that may sway
your decision. But of course, you need to know what questions
are most important.

Here are three questions that you should ask a contractor
before hiring them to work for you.

1. What are your qualifications? This may seem like a general
question, but it is one that you need to ask. As you can
imagine, you will want to hire a contractor that has worked on
projects like yours in the past. This will help to ensure that
the job gets done the way it should be.

2. To go along with question number one, you should ask if they
can supply you with any references. Why do this, you may ask?
Simply put, when you get references you can talk to other people
who have worked with the contractor in the past. This is not
going to ensure your satisfaction, but it can go a long way in
helping to do so. When talking to references make sure that you
ask any and every question that is on your mind. Remember, the
contractor would never have given you their name if they did not
want you to ask them questions.

3. What are you going to charge me for the job? This is a
question that seems like a no brainer, but unfortunately, it is
one that is forgotten time and time again. Although it can be
hard for a contractor to give an exact price on some projects,
they can at least give you a quote that is close. Obviously, it
is important to know what you are going to pay before you hire a
contractor. If one contractor is quoting you too high of a
price, you can mark them off your list and move onto another.

When you address these three questions you will be much better
off when hiring a contractor. Most contractors expect to hear
these questions, and will not have any problems giving you open
and honest answers.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
It's not news that the conventional entertainment industry is
in trouble; there is falling viewership for prime time TV and
people are just not as interested in what the local newspaper
has to tell about world events as they used to be. The reason
probably is access to the powerful tool called the internet.
While the internet challenged through the vast knowledgebase it
provided, now it challenges through visual entertainment as
well. Of all the segments of the World Wide Web, the online
video industry is one of the fastest growing forms of
entertainment as well as marketing.

The organized entertainment industry of our time now faces new
challenges everyday from the rapidly growing online video
networks. Not only are these networks run by the organized
industries of yesteryears that have realized the new trend and
adjusted, social networks like YouTube and Yahoo's Video sharing
are the order of the day.

Social networks like MySpace and Facebook are throwing up
videos from unknown bands that are making it big without
actually spending the hundreds of dollars our music `stars'
spend on their videos. Those who are going along with the trend
are not only growing in numbers but also in popularity since its
no longer a matter of going out to buy a record, its about a few
clicks and the video is yours to watch.

Surely the internet has its own culture, people from all around
the world meet and talk here, the culture is a mix of who holds
on to his values firmly or who impresses a value upon the other,
but how are online videos changing our overall attitude? There
is a huge web of video sharing and peer to peer sharing over the
internet that is challenging the copyrights protected industry.
Google, and YouTube via Google, are facing a lawsuit that would
perhaps set the trend for what is, and what is not, legally
acceptable with social networks sharing videos from copyrights
protected mediums.

Similarly, not so long back Digg faced the power of the social
networks when they decided to cover up the HD-DVD encryption
keys their loyal visitors were sharing to prevent copyright
infringements. The move gave them a demo of the people's power
within their own social network when there was a huge outcry by
the users. They learned that you either go along with what your
viewership wants or they switch to another base…yup, we are
spoiled for choice! Consequently, Digg announced it would go
down fighting if its fan base wanted that…they are back to
sharing HD-DVD keys and the drama continues with challenge
thrown up to those that have creative rights to their content.

Also, there is the change in our general manner of taking
input. While we can assert that the value of `text' has not, and
will not, go down the change in our reading habits from reading
to scanning text has already taken place. We no longer have the
patience for long drawn out arguments; we'd rather click and be
off to the next web destination if the argument gets to be
tedious. The same is a huge power in the hands of the people
now, the online video industry asserts with the quick ads and
swift entertainment the impact visuals can make. Not only is the
entertainment industry feeling the sting of this power in the
hands of the individual, the advertising industry, travel
industry and even real estate agents are now converting to the
use of visual clips with their text marketing. The area is vast,
ready for exploration and new developments. And with the cheap
digital video cameras available and cell-phones galore, the
online video industry is going to give the traditionalists a run
for their money.

While all looks good, it certainly isn't that rosy. The impact
video industry is making is one that is thrilling to watch but
you do not want to become a part of it at the wrong moment. Be
sure to watch out for the mobile phones around you, protect
yourself from videos you do not want to see of yourself, or
would not be comfortable showing friends, family or your
current/future spouse. One man's hilarious joke can be an
embarrassment for another, and easier still, it's available for
all to view at a click!

Here are some rules for letting your dog know who the boss is
(or should be).

We all know people who are great at training their dogs and
sometimes even their cats, but good advice is sometimes hard to

come by.

I have put this together to show you that training a dog is fun
and quite simple as well. Take your time and don't think

because this is simple advice it is not relevant because it is.

Don't be too hard on your dog tho as he is your best friend
too.

1. Set some rules immediately and stick to them.

2. Keep out of situations that promote inappropriate behavior.

3. Always observe your dog and provide what it needs to be
cared for and attended to.

4. Supervise your dog diligently through undivided individual
attention and training, and restrict them to a limited area of
the house until training is complete.

5. Encourage good behavior with praise and attention always.

6. Correct bad behaviors instantly by providing positive
alternatives. (A toy for a slipper, scratching post for the
sofa.)

7. Never physically punish or force compliance to commands.
This is always bad and may lead to fear biting or aggression.

8. Don't play rough or encourage aggression or play at biting.

9. Expose your dog to many people, animals, and environments
where you want them to live.

10. See your veterinarian if a serious or unresolved behavior
problems persist.

These rules will help you get the most from your dog as quickly
as possible.

Above all love your dog and he/she will love you back. Bad
behavior can sometimes be stopped just as it begins but you need

to be hard but fair. Dog training classes may be the answer if
your dog is getting out of hand.

Ask people who have trained dogs before for their help and
advice. It might be a good idea to go to dog forums on the

internet as well. Lots of dog articles and advice can be had
there too.

Whatever you decide good luck in training your dog or dogs.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
One rule of thumb that every aspiring entrepreneur should
remember is that to make huge profits, you should know how to do
it by yourself—and not rely on other's efforts. Being
independent from other people will help you determine what
things are best for your business.

Such rule applies on all types of investments, including
foreign currency trading, or mostly known as Forex trading. It
cannot be denied that Forex is the largest existing market
around the world, which is estimated to have an excess of 2
trillion U.S. dollars worth of foreign currencies are traded
each day. It is larger than the magnitude of the New York Stock
Exchange, which is approximately 50 billion U.S. dollars. Thus,
Forex market exceeds all combined equity markets around the
world.

With such huge wealth circulating around the Forex market, one
of your financial goals is to grab a major slice of that $2
trillion average daily turnover in the market. How you will be
able to get a substantial portion of that average turnover if
you do not know how you will handle your Forex business?
Although you cannot live in the market alone (you need business
partners and/or financial advisers to help you along), only you
can determine what the best Forex business there is for you.

To get huge profits out of your Forex trading career, you need
to build your own profitable system—a trading system that will
bring your not just hundreds but thousands of dollars worth of
Forex revenues. Such trading system is available on the market,
but as previously mentioned, you need to be independent—and you
need to have your own Forex trading system that will help you
achieve your financial goals.

For new traders, it is difficult for them to device their own
trading system since they do not have too much knowledge about
the Forex market. However, even a neophyte trader can device a
trading system that will fit on his personal preference and
needs—in just five easy steps!

Before we discuss the five easy steps towards a profitable
Forex trading system, you need to learn first the three main
characteristics of a successful Forex trading system. These are
as follows:

1. A successful Forex trading system is simple. There is no
need for a complicated trading system with too many rules. It is
a proven truth that simple systems work better than complicated
ones, and they have higher chances of success despite of the
"brutal" characteristic of Forex trading.

2. A successful Forex trading system cuts losses and runs
profits. Keep in mind that you need a trading system that gets
the huge possible profits and eliminates losses quickly, if not
instantly.

3. A successful Forex trading system follows long-term trends.
You will never cover your losses if you are just generating
small profits. Keep in mind that the Forex market is worth $2
trillion U.S. dollars, thus there is no point in trading in
exchange for just small profits if you have the opportunity to
make trades for larger revenues. Focus on long-term trends and
you will be able to see better results.

Now, here are the five easy steps in building a profitable
Forex trading system:

1. As previously mentioned, your trading system must be as
simple as possible. Integrate few yet essential rules and an
extensive investment management system.

2. Always look for long-term trends (preferably on a weekly
basis), then shift to daily charts and to time entry. This will
help you analyze market trends efficiently.

3. The ideal way of trading foreign currencies is through
breakout method.

4. Always watch for any break that you will note on your chart,
which is commonly confirmed by stochastic crossed with bearish
divergence. This will be your great timing tool whether you will
enter a certain deal or not.

5.You must integrate effective time management within your
system. Time is gold and is one of your precious resources.
Design a trading system that is time efficient—where you can
maximize the potential of your time resources to generate huge
profits.

Get away with complicated systems; it will just ruin your
entire Forex trading career. Build a simpler one and see for
yourself how profitable it is.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
You would think that the definition would be self-explanatory –
it's tea that's green. But that doesn't really cover it.

All true teas - as distinct from herbal and flower infusions,
which tea lovers call tisanes - are made from the leaves of a
magnolia-related evergreen tree with the botanical name of
Camellia sinensis. Although reaching a height of 30 feet in the
wild, on tea plantations, the plant is kept as a shrub,
constantly pruned to a height of about 3 feet to encourage new
growth and for convenient picking.

Tea plants grow only in warm climates but can flourish at
altitudes ranging from sea level to 7,000 feet. The best teas,
however, are produced by plants grown at higher altitudes where
the leaves mature more slowly and yield a richer flavor.
Depending upon the altitude, a new tea plant may take from 2 ½
to 5 years to be ready for commercial picking, but once
productive, it can provide tea leaves for close to a century.

Tea plants produce abundant foliage, a camellia-like flower,
and a berry, but only the smallest and youngest leaves are
picked for tea: the two leaves and bud at the top of each young
shoot. The growth of new shoots, called a flush, can occur every
week at lower altitudes but takes several weeks at higher ones.
The new leaves are picked by hand by "tea pluckers," the best of
whom can harvest 40 pounds per day, enough to make 10 pounds of
tea.

All tea plants belong to the same species-Camellia sinensis-,
but local growing conditions (altitude, climate, soils, etc.)
vary, resulting in a multitude of distinctive leaves. The way
the leaves are processed, however, is even more important in
developing the individual characteristics of the three
predominant types of tea: green, black and oolong.

Green tea is the least processed and thus provides the most
antioxidant polyphenols, notably a catechin called
epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which is believed to be
responsible for most of the health benefits linked to green tea.
We'll talk about EGCG a little bit later, but it is this
component of green tea that makes it such a healing and
advantageous drink.

Green tea is made by briefly steaming the just harvested
leaves, rendering them soft and pliable and preventing them from
fermenting or changing color. After steaming, the leaves are
rolled, then spread out and "fired" (dried with hot air or
pan-fried in a wok) until they are crisp. The resulting
greenish-yellow tea has a green, slightly astringent flavor
close to the taste of the fresh leaf.

Green tea has always been, and remains today, the most popular
type of tea from China where most historians and botanists
believe the tea plant originated throughout all of Asia. Why is
this so? Perhaps because green tea not only captures the taste,
aroma and color of spring, but delivers this delightful bouquet
along with the highest concentration of beneficial
phytonutrients and the least caffeine of all the teas.

The key to the amazing health benefits that are derived from
consuming green tea is that the leaves are steamed which
preserves the EGCG compound from being oxidized. Other teas are
fermented which breaks down the natural EGCG and takes away from
its healing properties.

In fact, green tea has very long and storied history dating
back thousands and thousands of years. It can be quite
fascinating to know what the Chinese have known for centuries.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Direct mail continues to be one of the most effective forms of
marketing available. I know it sounds crazy but it's true.
Just look in your mailbox and you'll see proof. I'm sure you
get at least a dozen pieces of direct mail every single day and
reason is that it works, at least in some situations.

There's no question direct mails is better suited to some
businesses than others. In particular, any business where
timing is a factor in the purchase decision is a good candidate
for direct mail advertising because you need to stay in front of
those prospects so they'll think of you when the timing is
finally right.

This alludes to the most important point. Direct mail is only
useful if you do it on a regular basis. And by saying that, I'm
not talking about sending your marketing piece to different
people each time. No. I'm saying you have to send your
marketing piece to the exact same audience, over and over and
over again. The key to a successful direct mail campaign is
repetition.

Companies who do direct mail spend millions of dollars each
year analyzing their campaigns and how to maximize the returns
they get. In fact, this area of marketing is probably studied
more than any other area. And the consensus is that an average
person doesn't even realize you exist before they've seen your
marketing piece at least seven times.

This is an amazing reality and many would argue it's a function
of being over-marketed in our daily lives. Let me say it again.
The average person doesn't even realize you exist before
they've seen your marketing piece at least seven times. Seven
times! And there are some who estimate that number is actually
much higher than that.

As a result of this reality, there's absolutely no point in
doing a direct mail campaign unless you can afford to run the
mailer at least seven times before expecting any results.
Seriously. If you can't afford to send your marketing piece to
the same audience at least seven times, don't even bother
because you won't get a proper gauge of whether the campaign
will work or not.

You also want to consider a two-step approach. That means the
initial marketing piece invites recipients to get more
information by taking some predetermined step. They might be
invited to call an 800-number and hear some pre-recorded
information. They might be invited to request a free
information booklet or they might be invited to visit a website
with additional details.

Two-step marketing is a great way to pull prospects into your
sales funnel. By giving them an opportunity to get more
information for free, you invite them to take action. You also
have a way of getting their contact information so you can
follow-up afterwards. And lastly, you give yourself a second
opportunity to earn their trust by providing valuable
information. All three dramatically increase the odds of making
a sale.

In order to implement a program like this effectively, you'll
need to decide on a value item before you get started. What
additional information will you be providing? Whatever it is,
it should be something your ideal customer would really
appreciate. Think about what information your target market
really wants. Think about what would make their lives easier.
Then put it together before you even design the direct mail
piece. Doing it this way will add focus to your marketing piece
and save you time along the way.

Direct mail is still an effective way of touching new customers
but it won't deliver any results unless you send your mailer to
the same audience consistently. You'll get better results if
you use a two-step approach, giving recipients a way of getting
more information painlessly and the best way to prepare for the
campaign is to create the information piece first. Give it a
try and let me know how it works out.

Ancient footbag

Evidence of games similar to footbag can be found throughout
history in many different countries and cultures. Its roots can
be traced back to games such Kemari (from Japan), Sepak Takraw
(Malaysia) and Tsu Chu (China). These games often use their own
individual sets of rules and a larger ball, but the basic
premise of keeping a round object up in the air using all parts
of the body except the arms and hands remains the same.

Modern footbag

The modern game of footbag was invented in 1972 in Oregon, USA
by two men named John Stalberger and Mike Marshall. They gave
their first footbags the trademarked name of `hacky sack' and
proceeded to try (successfully) to spread their new sport across
the United States and eventually the world. Although the name
was sold to the Wham-O corporation in 1983, today the game of
footbag is still known to many people as `hacky sack' or `hack'.

Footbag in 2007 remains true to its roots. The majority of
players value sporting behaviour and there is a great sense of
group participation at all levels of the sport. It is a way to
meet new people as well as keeping fit and improving
co-ordination and flexibility.

International competition

Official global footbag competition is monitored and supported
by the International Footbag Players' Association (IFPA). The
IFPA is a non-profit organisation which sponsor 20-30
competitions around the world every year and publishes the
`Official Rules of Footbag Sports' where you can find full rules
for various forms of the game.

Popular forms of footbag:

Footbag net
As the name suggests, this game is played by teams of either
one or two on a court divided equally in half by a net five feet
above the ground. The court dimensions are officially set at 20
feet wide and 44 feet long with the court being split into four
equal portions by the net and a centre line running at right
angles to it.

Games are played to either 11 or 15 points, with the winning
team required to be two points ahead to complete their victory.
Players serve cross court from behind the service line and a
point is won on serve if the opposing team fails to return the
footbag within the allowed number of touches (two for singles,
three for doubles).

Fouls are caused by a player touching the footbag more than
once (singles) or twice (doubles) in a row, touching the net
during play, stalling the footbag on purpose or impacting a
player from the opposing team on their side of the court.

Moves often include a similar sequence to that found in
volleyball, with a bump, set and spike used to return the
footbag to the opposing side of the net. The spike is often a
highly impressive move performed with the kicking player's foot
stretched above the net.

Special footbags are often used for footbag net which are
harder and more durable than standard freestyle footbags.

A full list of the official International Footbag Players'
Association rules for footbag net can be found at:
http://www.footbag.org/rules/chapter/300

Footbag freestyle
This type of competition sees each player performing a routine
of choreographed tricks, sometimes to music. They are scored by
presentation, difficulty, variety, and execution.

The top players in the world can perform truly amazing
sequences of advanced tricks. The winning routine from the 2006
World Footbag Championships performed by Vasek Klouda can be
watched here: http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/10103

In a typical competition the judges will be the competitors
themselves due to the high level of expertise required to
evaluate certain tricks. This means that players must adhere to
the values inherent within footbag from the street upwards, and
be fair in their judgement and scoring.

A full list of the official International Footbag Players'
Association rules for footbag freestyle can be found at:
http://www.footbag.org/rules/chapter/500

Street freestyle
The most common form of footbag. Players stand in a circle and
pass the footbag from person to person, trying to ensure that it
doesn't hit the floor whilst performing tricks when it is their
turn to kick the bag. This is not an officially recognised
competition form of footbag but is practised by almost all
footbag players, whether world champions or complete beginners.

There are a loose set of rules which consist of: always serving
to someone else in the circle, not apologising for dropping the
footbag and never using the arms or hands (unless serving).

A more detailed look at street footbag along with a selection
of basic moves can be found at:

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Self-talk is the inner chatter that accompanies us in most of
our waking moments. Your self-talk can be a powerful aid to your
performance, or it can be destructive.

What do you say when you talk to yourself? If you're like many
of us, your self-talk is a caustic mixture of judgments,
complaints, and verbal abuse, in the form of "tapes" - mental
recordings - that you've imprinted on your mind and play over
and over again. No wonder you feel down and depressed.

However, you can change the tapes you play, and your self-talk,
as soon as you become aware of what you're saying to yourself.
Changing your self-talk will turbo-charge your life and enhance
your performance in everything you do.

You can change your self-talk right now

Let's try a little test. Say to yourself, silently or aloud:
"That was a stupid thing to say. How could I say _________ (pick
any verbal blunder you can remember). I'm so stupid."

How do you feel? Perhaps you feel sad, or anxious. Take a
moment to track your emotions in your body. Perhaps you have a
sinking feeling in your tummy, or your face is becoming hot.
Your self-talk immediately affected your body, your mental state
and your emotions.

Now let's try some positive self-talk. Take a couple of deep
breaths, smile, and say to yourself, aloud or silently: "I'm
happy, strong and confident."

How do you feel now? Feel your emotions in your body. Repeat
the words "I'm happy, strong and confident" several times – keep
smiling as you do so. You felt an emotional lift, didn't you?
You can give yourself an emotional boost at any time, just by
changing your self-talk. If you make it a habit to repeat
motivating self-talk to yourself, not only will you feel better,
but you'll perform better in everything you do.

Self-talk is powerful, and it's free. It's the best thing you
can do for yourself.

Erase old self-talk tapes: make new tapes

Affirmations are a form of self-talk, and you can create your
own affirmations to use as self-talk. However, the best way to
change your old self-talk tapes, is to make a new tape every
time you catch yourself replaying an old tape.

For example, if you hear yourself saying: "I'll never get this
project done. No one's helping me with it, I'm always left to do
the hard work and others get the credit…"

Change your self-talk immediately. Write down your new
self-talk tape which will over time erase the old self-talk
tape: "This project's interesting. I'm going to have fun working
with it. I'll ask ___ and ___ for their input right away. I'm
taking charge of this project, it will be done in no time, and
I'll claim the credit because I deserve it."

Now repeat your new self-talk to yourself as often as you need
to, particularly as soon as you can hear any faint whispers of
the old self talk. Boost the new tape with affirmations, like:
"I'm confident, capable and strong. I CAN do this!"

Start today: use powerful self-talk to enhance your performance
in everything you do.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
How schools fit into Public school rankings are extremely
important to many people. District and state officials,
principals, teachers, parents, and students are all concerned,
in varying degrees, in how their schools compare to others. In a
society that is increasingly trying to "keep up with the
Joneses", all investors in the schools (the same folks listed
above) are constantly monitoring how they stand in public school
rankings , and trying to be better than other schools.

Lots of factors go into determining where a school is placed in
Public school rankings. While the majority of the consideration
is given to test scores – how well students scored, as well as
how many have taken advanced assessments such as Advanced
Placement tests – consideration is also given to factors like
socioeconomic background. To be more specific, Public school
rankings are influenced by how many kids are receiving free or
reduced lunches each school day.

Kids who come from a low socioeconomic background, meaning
their families are at or below poverty level, tend to attend
schools that are not up to snuff – and are in the lower end of
Public school rankings. It's not meant, by any means, that they
are choosing these schools. Maybe they have no other options;
it's easiest for their parent(s) to send them to the closest
school to home because they are working one or more jobs to make
ends meet. It's also possible that parents don't know that they
have options in where they send their children to school – and
can find better ones by looking at Public school rankings.
Families who are simply struggling to survive may not have
school as a top priority. They probably don't even know that
Public school rankings even exist and are available to them;
they are too busy living day to day to even look into Public
school rankings. Often, parents at this low level of income are
themselves undereducated, and simply do not know that there are
better educational opportunities out there which are identified
by their placement in Public school rankings. As a matter of
fact, due to the 2002 No Child Left Behind Act, and the 2007
reauthorization of that Act, parents of students who are
attending low-performing schools at the bottom of Public school
rankings have the right to withdraw their children from said
schools and enroll them in places that are on the top in regards
to Public school rankings.

It is definitely to the benefit of all parents, whether they
are below poverty level or at the more affluent end of the
spectrum to consider Public school rankings whenever they are
making decisions about which schools their children will attend.
It is a decision that can have long-reaching, indeed
life-changing effects.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
In a world that is ever changing and in many ways becoming more
clinical and sterile people are finding it more and more
difficult to express their emotions and thoughts with other
people. Passion, love and happiness are all things that for
certain people are becoming hard emotions to deal with, which is
ironic as they are all positive emotions at their very cores.
This is happening for many reasons and to many different people,
whatever their socio-economic or educational background; however
we really see this in the area of jealousy. This is alone an
epidemic problem leading to more and more broken marriages and
relationships year on year.

For the sufferer, jealousy can be devastating and can lead to
massive pain, upset and anguish that can and will take its toll
not only on the sufferer, but the people around them too. In
most cases a jealous person will hide their emotions well and
not let the outside world know what's going on, however they can
allow it to tear apart the relationships of the people that love
them the most – their friends and family. Fortunately it is one
of those things that you can not even imagine unless you go
through it yourself – of which I hope that you never will.

So what can a sufferer do to eliminate jealousy from their
lives? Well first the individual needs to understand why they
are jealous. In most cases it usually comes down to problems
with insecurity and low self esteem and also from an immense
love for their partner. This is not always the case, but it is
something that it usually present on some level. The immense
love for your partner is good, however low self esteem and
confidence issues are not. Just like cancer can play havoc with
your body, so can jealousy play havoc with the sufferers mind.

Jealousy also over time just becomes a habitual behaviour that
is present today because it was present yesterday. The best way
to break this habit and build your confidence is through the use
of hypnosis and self hypnosis. This successful approach simply
reprograms your mind and creates a new set of behaviours, habits
and beliefs. In doing so it boosts your confidence and makes you
feel secure in yourself. You see, hypnosis works with the part
of your brain that we refer to as your sub-conscious mind. This
is the part of your brain that makes you…You – and also houses
all the stuff that makes you jealous. By reprogramming this area
you can start your journey of success and get the results that
you both desire and deserve.
