If you are like me, you probably have wondered at some point in
time what motivation really was? The textbook definition of
motivation would state it as being an inner process that moves
you unerringly toward the attainment of your goal. That
definition should also include the mental concepts of purpose
and vision. These concepts will play an important role when you
are determining your goal in the first place. The real glue to
building lasting motivation are the cultivation of the qualities
drive and determination. If you are interested you can read...

Some people allow different things to motivate them. It could
be your job, your marriage, your family, your income or your
wealth. What is the definition for motivation for you? If you
can find out definition for motivation to you, then you would
have tapped into your true self and hone in on exactly what it
takes to succeed.

Since the word motivation is equivalent in a lot of ways to the
word "move". It should be readily evident that your life is at a
standstill when your motivational force is not there. This
equates to fear of failure and what keeps people who lack
motivation to remain in the same pattern every day of their
lives.

Self-Motivation and You

It is quite likely that you already have the necessary skills
to motivate yourself in a manner that is effective. Besides
emotion these skills would include being organized,
goal-oriented and disciplined. In fact it could be further
stated that if you have all of these skills now in sufficient
quantities that you have already substantiated a pretty good
definition of motivation for yourself already by becoming the
person you are today.

It all comes down to being consistent in your daily application
of these principles. It is a commonly known and well accepted
fact that it takes approximately twenty one days to form a new
habit. If you find that your level of action is lacking or under
what you think it should be then perhaps you should make a
"change". Commit to spending the next twenty one days thinking
about what you want to do and then following up on those
thoughts with quantifiable action.

Conclusion

So there you have it a definition of motivation that should
serve you well if you choose to accept it and act upon it. You
should have an understanding that self-motivated individuals
reason that things won't always work out. They understand at
those times that the most important thing is to make the most
important thing the most important thing. That is to stay
focused on what they want despite evidence that would suggest
otherwise. They have learned through life experience that
keeping their focus on the prize will always be of assistance in
the long run. They utilize the principle of focusing on what is
wanted right in front of them instead of challenges and/or
problems whose main purpose it seems is to keep you from what
you wish to accomplish.

Get the Train for Italian Investment Property
Real estate in France experienced a piece-by-piece real
estate surge as its own high speed train system is put into
place. This is also referred to as the Ryan Air effect,
whereby values rise as budget airlines arrive. This is due
to the ease of getting to property that was once considered
in the middle of nowhere - or at least hard to get to.

The Italian high speed train service is known as the TAV in
Italy, which stands for treno ad alta velocità, or,
more generically, ES Itallia for Euro Star Italy. The high
speed route from Rome to Naples is nearly complete and
portions of the route from Turin to Milan are also open.
Another line from Milan to Rome is scheduled to open in
early 2009. The state train company, Trenitalia, has train
service throughout Italy to all major cities currently. The
high speed trains can run, and currently do, on several of
the main line tracks, but at reduced speeds not approaching
their 300 kph maximum. When the new lines are complete,
they will be able to whisk passengers between the major
cities throughout the country.

With the new lines and service, new stations are being
built and old ones renovated. Trenitalia is investing
€2.5 billion in new stations for Bologna, Naples and
Florence and renovations in Milan, Rome and Turin.
According to Carlo de Vito, who oversees the 2,400 stations
throughout the country for Trenitalia, the changes can have
a considerable impact: "A new station near the center of a
big city makes that area more appealing to the middle class
willing to commute, and the same will happen with the
high-speed train." He adds that ""When we open a new
station there is a 30 to 40 percent rise in real estate
values in just a few years." While property in Italy in
major cities is improving, some see the most potential for
cities that currently don't have the access of the big ones.

One such city is Genoa, the end of a planned Milan-Genoa
line. These cities don't have the easy and relatively
inexpensive access that the larger ones do. The new train
service, much like new low-fair air service, can help
newcomers get to the city and discover its charms and, more
importantly, its real estate.

So what is on offer in Italy? Italian farmhouses that
require renovation work, houses with rustic charm off plan
property at Lake Como or city apartments in Milan. There is
plenty on offer for the overseas buyers in Italy.

Bulgarian Real Estate Who Is Buying Up All The Property
The year 2006 saw unprecedented investment in Bulgarian
real estate. Almost a third of properties in Bulgaria are
being bought by foreign nationals with 20 to 35 year-old
Britons now a big proportion of Bulgarian real estate
buyers. According to reports Bulgaria has seen a
significant increase in the numbers of 20 to 35 year-old
Brits buying Bulgarian property. They now account for a
fifth (20%) of all UK buyers and are prepared to pay more
for their property.

The figures were revealed by Quest Bulgaria an English
language monthly magazine for people living or buying
property in Bulgaria. Quest Bulgaria Managing Director
Chris Goodall: "High UK house prices are making it
difficult for first time buyers, usually the younger age
groups, to get on the first rung of the housing ladder.
There is evidence international property clients are
significant players in the market with 29% of all home
transactions last year made by foreigners."

The magazine also reports that the country is third most
popular with UK property buyers with Spain top, France
second then Bulgaria. Real Estate agent Martin Hunt of
Living Bulgaria - said: "These young buyers have more money
and are looking for better quality homes." Concept
Bulgaria says a staggering 95% of their customers are under
50.

The ultra-cheap Bulgaria that once attracted high risk
investors or retiree holiday home owners is changing. The
key is buyers can get a good quality, three-bedroom home in
Bulgaria for £65,000 while the average house price in
the UK is £215,000.

Real Estate agents confirms the rapid emergence of younger
buyers while reporting a downturn of 15% among the over
50's. It says younger end buyers with families are going to
Bulgaria to live there permanently and establish their own
businesses. Easier availability of mortgages and finance
is helping too. One agent said "The situation is now much
easier with the average length of time from application to
sale down from nearly eight months last year to around just
eight weeks."

Bulgaria offers low priced Ski property and stands to be
one of the most popular Ski areas in Europe. The boom is
having a knock-on effect on the buy-to-let market. A three
bed-roomed coastal villa now enjoys an average rental price
of £550 per week giving a gross income of
£5,500 a year if it is rented out for a ten-week
period. A rural three-bed-room villa fetches an average
£350 a week; a city or coastal apartment £250.

Just imagine if you were walking your street and came across an
obviously stray dog. Would you know what to do? What not to do?
You could avoid the situation altogether, get nervous thinking
the dog would do you harm or take the dog home and have it be
your new pet. In this scenario you have a few options. The one
you choose will really depend on the fact of you being an animal
lover or not. For the sake of this article we will assume you
chose to take the dog home as a pet. Read more about this . . .

General Tips

Always walk your dog on a leash. This ensures the safety of the
dog, you, walkers, joggers, and people on bicycles. No one wants
to be hurt on either side.

Caring For Your New Dog

There are two important decisions to be made at this juncture
regardless of the dog's breed. You can choose to temporarily
shelter the dog by taking it in out from the elements and at the
same time look for it's rightful owner. Or you can keep it for
your own pet. Again your choice will probably depend on how good
of an animal lover you are.

It will be no easy task to provide care to the stray dog you
have taken in. It will need to be provided with adequate
shelter, food, medical care treatment and animal medical
insurance in some cases. Oh yeah you should also plan to take it
to a veterinarian as soon as possible to get it checked out for
any possible diseases.

You will also want to maintain your dog's health while it is in
your care. To do this you should perform all of the necessary
daily duties required to prevent your pet dog from falling prey
to illness. This includes providing adequate and comfortable
shelter and food. In some respects it could be compared to
raising a small child before they reach the age of being able to
communicate.

Dog Diet Tips

Eating habits are still based on the instinctual habits of the
dog's wild counterparts. some dogs feed on a
"stuff-yourself-or-starve" mode and tend to eat more than they
need when food is made available to them. for this reason,
owners must be in control of their dog's food intake. obesity is
very harmful to your dog's health at any age. it puts undue
stress on vital organs that can lead to serious health problems.
So be a responsible pet owner and monitor your dog's food
intake.

Conclusion

Now that you are armed with this information how will you best
apply it? Just keep in mind that your new pet is also a new
companion that can likewise protect you from harm's way. But
just like anything else that requires time and attention you
should make sure you give your new companion comfortable and
adequate dog care, food, shelter, love and attention. By
following these simple guidelines you can and should enjoy your
new pet immensely.

Mortgages are not without their pitfalls and the
first-time-buyer mortgage market is no different.
First-time-buyers who are not able to put down a deposit on a
property are being hit with huge fees and higher interest rates
by some leading lenders.

While banks and building societies seem to be helping
first-time-buyers get onto the property ladder by issuing
special mortgages that lend up to 100% of a property's value,
borrowers are being forced to pay higher lending fees on these
products, which can cost around £1,500, and are unable to get
access to the cheap interest rate deals offered to other
borrowers.

Borrowers who have the required deposit are able to secure
mortgage products with interest rates more than one per cent
lower than the specialist products developed for new property
owners which are made available through the same lenders.

First-time-buyers are widely considered to be the borrowers who
can least afford to pay such costs when applying for a mortgage.
In recognition of this, many lenders have now stopped charging
higher lending fees on products aimed at people who are trying
to get a foot on the property ladder because of the extra
financial burden.

Some lenders, however, have not scrapped such fees and continue
to charge them on mortgage products that have loan-to-value
ratios above 90 per cent.

The higher lending fee pays for an insurance policy which
protects the lender if the home is repossessed and the bank
makes a loss when selling it. It does not, contrary to popular
belief, provide any protection to the borrower.

With the average property price in the at an all-time high, the
majority of first-time-buyers are struggling to find the
traditional 10 per cent deposit required to buy a property,
which would help prevent them from paying a higher lending
charge. For those individuals who manage to save up enough money
to fund part of the ten percent deposit required, they may still
be required to pay a higher lending charge.

For example, if a buyer had a 5 per cent deposit for a house
worth £100,000, they would require a £95,000 mortgage. For the
money borrowed above 75 per cent of the property price, £20,000,
the bank will charge a higher lending fee.

Some lenders allow the fee to be added to the mortgage, but
interest will be payable on it over the life of the loan, which
could double the cost of the higher lending fee over the
long-term. Additionally, if the borrower has not paid off enough
of their loan balance by the time they are due to remortgage
their home they may be forced to pay another higher lending
charge.

If the home owner chooses to add the second higher lending
charge to the mortgage balance they may effectively be paying
off two fees at once if they have failed to pay off the first
higher lending charge that was added to their home loan. This is
a frightening situation which can be rectified by the borrower
paying for their mortgage fees in cash.

First-time-buyers should therefore be careful in choosing their
mortgage product when attempting to get a foot on the property
ladder and should attempt to cash for any fees that are charged.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Over the years, the truck driver has made for a great series of
stories. Amidst the standard tales of traffic jams, incredible
journeys and more incredible bad driving, when involved with a
freight exchange, you hear the type of outlandish tales more
commonly associated with fishermen. In researching this article,
I found too that lorries and lorry drivers are commonly
associated with horror stories, and tales (and images) too
gruesome to write about here. Suffice it to say, there's an
awful lot of truths and non truths spread in the anecdotes about
truckers.

Here, I've taken three lorry tales– and discovered two of them
to be verifiable truthful. The remaining one is equally exposed
as fake. I'm going to list them all, allowing readers to guess
which is untrue – I shall then provide the specifics of each
one.

A) Elvis Presley was once told to "Stick to driving a truck,
because you'll never make it as a singer."

B) A man was run over by a truck within hours of winning a
lottery

C) The Allman Brothers album "Eat a Peach" is a hidden
reference to Duane Allman's death at the wheels of a lorry
carrying peaches.

Has everyone made their guesses? Okay – here's the answer. C is
an urban legend, while A and B are verifiably correct.

Here's some background information to each lorry story:

Elvis Presley was once told to "Stick to driving a truck,
because you'll never make it as a singer"

While auditioning for a lead-singer position in a Memphis band,
Eddie Bond, 21, informed the 19 year old truck driver, Elvis
Presley that he should "stick to driving a truck, because you'll
never make it as a singer." This is the account of a mutual
friend, while Bond himself claims the club's owners forced him
to make the decision. Either way, Elvis was rejected and left
looking for his big break.

It would come in just a few short months. "That's All Right
(Mama)" was a big hit in Memphis, and Eddie Bond issued an
invitation for Elvis to join them after all. Understandably,
Elvis decided to turn him down – but not to "stick to driving a
truck."

A man was run over by a truck within hours of winning a lottery

When I first heard this one, I immediately thought of the
Alanis Morissette song, "Ironic", which begins with the lines
"An old man turned ninety-eight, he won the lottery and died the
next day." While the subjects of the song are well documented as
not being ironic in the slightest, I did assume that the various
incarnations of this story I've heard must be the same kind of
embellishment as Ms Morissette recorded.

Not true, as it turns out. In January 2004, an Indiana man won
$73,450 on an Indiana lottery, and was run over by a truck
within hours of winning it big. Wearing dark clothing the winner
of a `Hoosier Millionaire competition', Carl Atwood, 73, was
walking round a corner on a poorly lit intersection when he was
struck by the truck, later dying in hospital. On the show, which
was televised, Atwood had expressed his surprise at winning and
stated his plans to "purchase a very nice car."

The Allman Brothers album "Eat a Peach" is a hidden reference
to Duane Allman's death at the wheels of a lorry carrying
peaches.

While it's true that Duane Allman died in a collision with a
lorry in Georgia (a state associated with peaches) months before
the release of the "Eat a Peach", and it's also true that the
album art does show a truck with a giant peach on board labelled
"Allman Brothers", the album is not a direct reference to the
death of the talented young guitarist.

The truth is the lorry that Duane Allman collided with was a
flatbed truck with a lumber crane. Suffering no externally
visible injuries, Duane held onto life immediately following the
crash before dying in surgery with massive internal injuries
three hours later.

The album's title is less interestingly a reference to a
comment Duane once made in a magazine interview. When asked how
he was helping the revolution, Allman replied that "…every time
I'm in Georgia, I eat a peach for peace."

Fans of the band have also suggested that the album's reverse
cover art – an image of a vehicle carrying a giant watermelon –
was a reference to fellow band member Berry Oakley's similar
motorcycle accident at the wheels of fruit lorry is also
revealed as falsehood, first by the fact that he collided with a
bus, and secondly that his death was 9 months after the release
of the album. Any hidden message would therefore be an
inaccurate feat of clairvoyance.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
The Alfa Romeo Spider first was introduced back in 1966 at the
Geneva Motor show, where it was hailed as an instant classic by
the auto-public. But at the presentation it was still an unnamed
masterpiece, but that was about to change when the results of a
competition in Italy produced the name "Duetto", and since it
first name, history would show that with every change and new
series it was re-christened by another alias. But the first
Spiders now are referred to as the 105 series Spider/ "Classic"
Spider and it was created using the body style of the classic
2-seat roadster.

The original design of the car was done by Pininfarina, who
also played a big part in the car's manufacturing, due to the
car's unique monocoque creation; which is the incorporation of
"crumple zones" at both the front and the rear. The Alfa Romeo
Spider have gone through a lot of changes over its almost 3
decade history, both mechanically and aesthetically; with these
changes occurring every couple of years, it kept the Spider
appealing to all audiences, and it made the Spider stay
constantly unique when compared to even itself.

The Spider's basic proportional blueprint consisted of a length
of 4255mm (167.5in) Duetto; a curb weight of 996 kgs (21906 lbs)
Duetto; a wheelbase of 2250mm (88.6in) Duetto; a height of
1295mm (51in) Duetto; and a width of 1626mm (64in) Duetto. The
Spider also came outfitted with a five-speed transmission, disc
brakes, and independent front suspension. The engine of the
Duetto was a form of the 1570cc Alfa Romeo Twin Cam, 4-cylinder
engine, and outputted just about 109hp (81kW). The original
Spider Duetto ran from 1966-1967.

The 1750 Spider Veloce replaced the Duetto in the latter part
of 1967 with a 1779cc engine outputting 118PS (116hp or 87kW),
and a torque of just 186N·m (137 ft·lbf). A new, smaller engine
Spider was introduced in 1968; the 1300 Junior with a 1290cc
engine with a max power of 89hp (66kW), but it was devoid of
most of the first features of 1750 Veloce e.g. plastic headlight
fairings, hubcaps, the brake servo, and the opening
quarter-light. The 1st Series of the Spider, which included the
original Duetto ran from 1966-1969, and became known by its
alias of "Ossa di Sepia" or "Cuttlebone fish".

The 2nd Series of the Spider ran from 1970-1983, and was also
known as "Fastback" or "Coda Tronca". The first major change was
to the exterior of the 1750 Veloce, with the typical elongated
round tail being remade into an ordinary cut-off tail know as
the "Kamm Tail". The other appearance changes came from top
hinged pedals; new door handles; a more raked windscreen;
refined interior trim; a slightly different grille; and more
luggage space. In 1971, the 2000 Spider Veloce was born with a
new engine replacing the 1750 with a 1962cc, 132hp (98kW). The
1600 Junior was also given life also replacing the Junior 1300
with 1570cc engine outputting 110PS (108hp or 81kW).

The Series 3 Spider ran from 1983-1990 and was dubbed the
"Aerodinamica". In 1982 was the launch of the new "2.0 litre
Bosch fuel injection", which replaced the "SPICA mechanical
injection". Also in that same year the Aerodinamica 2000 was
born with a 1962cc engine with a max power of 128PS (126hp or
94kW) and a torque of 178N·m (131 ft·lbf). Alfa also introduced
the "Green Four-leaf Clover" or "Quadrifoglio Verde" model in
1986, with many aesthetic changes to the exterior, but with the
exact same engine of the regular 2000 Spider Veloce.

From 1990-1993 the 4th Series and its first important
mechanical change was introduced with the "Bosch Motronic
electronic fuel injection with an electric fan". Other
appearance changes occurred, also on the Type 4 Spider but the
entire production of the Alfa Romeo Spider came to a sad end in
1993. However, a "Limited Edition Spider Commemorative Edition"
was made for the North American market in May 1993 and was
identified as a 1994 model.

There is currently no cure for congestive heart failure, rather
there are things that you can do to help lengthen your life and
protect your heart from further injury. Treatment is a matter of
changing your lifestyle and a mixture of drug therapy, which
will alter your quality of your life.

The medical field's great improvements over the past twenty
years has grown in leaps and bounds. Lifestyle changes remain
fundamentally the same in combating congestive heart failure -
quit smoking, lose excessive weight, drink less alcohol, and eat
healthy low saturated fat and low salt foods. After that do not
forget to exercises which is helpful for most patients. This is
fabulous advice that is a major key to preventing congestive
heart failure but the most significant is the medical treatment.
This is where your medical with your MD is very significant.
Don't attempt to try to self diagnose or worse, prescribe your
own medicines. The medical attendant is the only individual well
equipped to provide you with the applicable medical treatment.

The heart such as other parts of our bodies can malfunction in
varying ways. That is why we had better trust the cardiologist -
a specialist in the medical field. One of the the most
commonplace medicines prescribed for patients with congestive
heart failure is a beta-blocker. The beta-blocker reduces your
heart rate and it's output of blood by counteracting a hormone
found in the body called noradrenalin. While this drug can
prevent congestive heart failure, it isn't recommended for
anyone with severe heart failure.

For those patients who suffer from fluid retention and/or high
blood pressure due to congestive heart failure the medical field
suggests that a diuretic will help square things but you should
be aware of some of the potential side effects which are loss of
potassium in your system, weakness, muscle cramps, and even
joint pains. Let your family doctor be informed right away if
you feel any detrimental side effects from the diuretic
administered.

This is just an example of some of the drugs used in the
medical field that can help ward off congestive heart failure.
There are other treatments that the medical field uses and they
can be just as valuable.

Congestive heart failure can become undeniably extreme and that
is why the medical field has been experimenting with heart
transplants and mechanical pumps, which are attached to the
heart. There is another experimental procedure for severe heart
failure, which is accessible at a few U.S. medical centers. This
procedure which is called cardiomyoplasty, involves detaching
one end of a muscle in the patients back, wrapping it around the
heart, and then suturing the muscle to the heart. An implanted
electric stimulator causes the back muscle to contract and pump
blood from the heart.

The medical field also has a further surgical procedure that
can be used called mitral valve repair which may help extend and
improve the lives of people with congestive heart failure. This
procedure aims to correct such issues as leaky valves resulting
from cardiomyopathy, or heart muscle disease, by surgically
inserting a flexible annuloplasty ring at the mitral valve
opening.

The medical field has enjoyed great strides in medicines and in
surgical procedures that considerably raise the quality of life
that we take pleasure in. The medical field has experimented
with such things as healthy heart diets and specialized
exercises that can only help to improve the quality of life. Now
you can help correct congestive heart failure with any life
style changes and medical advice from your Physician.

The Property Market in Sydney It's An Australian Thing
The real estate market in Australia is on the up and in
particular the stunning city of Sydney.

Sydney is the largest financial and corporate center in
Australia. The city is home to more than half of Australia's
top corporations as well as five hundred multinational
corporations. There are also ninety bank headquarters
located in Sydney. The tourism industry is a large part of
the city and there are approximately 2.5 million tourists
annually. Attractions such as 'walking' the Sydney Harbour
Bridge are booked up months in advance. The city is buzzing
with activity and a visit will reveal that the high rise
office blocks are full of big business.

Property in Sydney is a valued commodity, as they have the
highest median house price of any Australian city.
International property investors would be able to compare
the cost in housing to that of California in the United
States. Australia also has the Western World's highest
property prices when measured against rental prices.

The value of Sydney property market has traditionally
doubled in value every 7-10 years over the last 100 years.
Sydney's current median price for houses is now over
$565,000 and leading economic forecasters BIS Shrapnel and
Residex predict house prices will continue to rise over the
long term.

The city is rich in arts and entertainment and many of the
visitors and citizens of the city are interested or
involved in this area in some way. Fox Studios Australia
opened in 1998 and many famous movies have been produced
here including Moulin Rouge, Star Wars Episodes II and III,
Superman Returns, and The Matrix. Sydney's Opera House is
capable of hosting various styles of opera in its five
theaters. The opera house is home to Opera Australia,
which is the third busiest opera company in the world.
These attractions draw a large number of aspiring actors
and actresses as well as tourists. Those looking to invest
in oversea property would be keen to invest in property
that can be rented out to those in these areas.

Sydney also hosts numerous sporting events.Sydney Harbour
has been used for recreational yachting as well Dragon Boat
racing. The harbour is also famous for the Sydney to
Hobart Yacht Race. The headquarters of the Australian
Rugby League is also located in Sydney and the National
Rugby League Grand Final is held in Telstra Stadium.
Famous beaches in the area include Bondi Beach, Manly
Beach, Palm Beach and Cronulla Beach.

The property along these beaches is some of the best real
estate in the city. Suburbs such as Manly or Mosman are in
high demand. Australia offers investment property in the
form city apartments that are easily let to city workers.

My advice is to seek out a reliable Australian real estate
agent after all Sydney property is an Australian thing

Dubai & Abu Dhabi Look Forward to Booming Real Estate
The property market market in the United Arab Emirates, one
of the hottest in the world, is set to continue until 2015
and beyond, according to new reports. Real estate and
construction markets in the UAE are primarily focused on
Dubai, which has been booming for several years, and the
newer market of Abu Dhabi.

Two recent studies by HSBC and Damac Capital International
of Dubai both indicate that supply will not catch up to
demand for a number of years, keeping the markets strong.

Traditionally the most popular locations with second-home
buyers and British investors are Spain and France but Dubai
is beginning to rival them. Dubai investment property is
attractive due to its tax-free status, excellent facilities
and low crime rate.

International investors buying property in Dubai need to
concentrate their search for properties in Dubai to the
many Freehold Areas in Dubai.

Properties that are suitable for foreign buyers include the
following freehold zones: Dubai Sports City , Dubai Marina
, I.M.P.Z. International Media Production Zone , Jumeirah
Village , The Palm Jumeirah, Shaikh Zayed Road,
International City, The Lagoons, Palm Deira, Jebel Ali
Airport, Emirates Road, Dubai Land ,Business Bay ,Downtown
Dubai and much more

Recently Dubai developers have had to comply with a new
piece of legislation Law No 8. This makes escrow accounts
compulsory for all Dubai off-plan developments, with money
released only on the order of the Dubai Land Department.
This move marks an end to the days when any developer could
launch a project and collect deposits without a guarantee
that the funds would be used correctly. Many pundits feel
that this could slow the Dubai market but increase
confidence with investors

Middle East online news website Gulfnews.com reports that
Dubai will continue to be a strong real estate market,
while Abu Dhabi is set to take off. Rental yields in Abu
Dhabi are expected to be in excess of 7% until at least
2013 and perhaps beyond.

According to Damac Capital's analysts Hany Seif and Pamela
Chikhani, Dubai will remain a major Gulf real estate market
for years to come. By some estimates, over the next 10
years both local and international real estate investors
will pump in almost $300 billion into Dubai's real estate
developments. According to HSBC's real estate analysts,
Walid Khalfallah and Majid Azza, Abu Dhabi is becoming a
major regional real estate market. "The Abu Dhabi story is
gaining credibility. After a slow start to the year, sales
activity has picked up in the second half of 2007. The
market remains extremely tight, with stronger-than-expected
growth in rents [22 per cent] and prices [18 per cent],"
they said in a recent report.

Abu Dhabi does not have the liberal international property
laws that neighboring Dubai has yet, but things are
improving there. The office market is particularly strong
and vacancy rates are below 1%. With increased
deregulation, Abu Dhabi will continue to gain ground on its
more prominent neighbor. Both should see strong growth in
the coming years.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably why so
few engage in it. - Henry Ford

Let's take a few minutes to understand the process of
evaluating. Top performing individuals and organizations are
consistently evaluating the present and preparing for the
future. The process of evaluating involves the identification of
key external events (Outlook – what I observe) and the
interpretation of those events (Inlook – what it means to me).

Evaluations = Outlook + Inlook

Consider the fact that organizations look out for emerging
trends, global events and industry issues. Then they look inward
to interpret or translate these changes into potential pain or
gain for the organization. It is this interpretation that forms
the "Inlook."

See the process of an evaluation? It encapsulates your outward
observations and your inward interpretations.

Individuals do the same thing. They look externally to identify
business issues, and then determine how these issues might
impact them or their job.

A gap often exists at both the organizational and individual
levels. Organizations are usually competent at identifying and
interpreting the impact of events and situations on the
business. However, they typically don't look at how those events
and situations will affect the individuals in their
organizations.

Similarly, individuals are good at identifying business issues
and how those things might affect their jobs or them personally.
However, most have a very limited view and fail to interpret
market trends appropriately.

To achieve superior results, organizations must have an Inlook
which accommodates the individual. To be Top Performers,
individuals must have an outlook which accommodates
business-related events and situations.

The Filter Factor?

Truth like football – receive many kicks before reaching goal.
- Charlie Chan

It is essential that you understand the filters or biases that
affect your evaluations. We all have a certain way of looking at
things that affect our focus and clarity. We have beliefs about
how things are or how they're supposed to be. We make
assumptions that may or may not be valid.

We see this often in sales situations. The seller has certain
assumptions about clients. For example:

• They're in this industry so they must be …
• They'll want …
• They'll be motivated by …
• They dislike …

Assumptions are a natural part of our mental work. An
assumption is a generalization. Most companies are
client-centric, most doors open in the same way, sharp objects
can hurt you. If we didn't generalize, we would not be able to
see patterns in life. So generalizing can be useful, but your
assumptions must be tested.

How do you test assumptions?

Simple. Ask questions. For example:

• Is this really true?
• How do I know it's true?
• What evidence do I have that it's true?
• Is it always true? Sometimes true?
• What could be assumed instead?
• How is this assumption serving me?
• Do I need to adjust my thinking?

So, clean your mental filters and test your assumptions to
ensure that your filters are not factors in accurately
interpreting situations.

The Master Keys

Here are the master keys to making superior evaluations:

1. Suspending judgment
2. Avoiding oversimplifications
3. Exploring underlying beliefs, emotions, feelings
4. Clarifying issues, conclusions, beliefs
5. Developing criteria for evaluation: clarifying values and
standards
6. Evaluating the credibility of sources of information
7. Questioning deeply: raising and pursuing root or significant
questions
8. Analyzing or evaluating arguments, interpretations, beliefs,
or theories
9. Generating or assessing solutions
10. Listening critically
11. Asking clarifying questions
12. Comparing and contrasting
13. Distinguishing relevant from irrelevant facts
14. Exploring implications and consequences

================== ARTICLE START ==================
When I set out to write my book, A Place to Belong, I didn't
have the slightest notion as to how I was going to approach this
task. I had never written anything in my life that extended
beyond a normal letter or reports that I had to submit for my
job or school. Now, I'm sitting down to write a story about my
life? Oh, Lord, I need help! Lots of help!

Thirty-five minutes staring at the computer and thumping my
fingers on the key board, I said to myself, "Okay Paul, here is
what you're going to do. Don't worry about spelling,
punctuation, grammar or anything else right now. Just get the
words on to the paper! I'll edit the whole thing later." And,
that is exactly how I approached this immense task. It took me
three months to get the story on paper and six years to correct
it. That's right, six years.

As I read over the original story, I laughed, felt very
humiliated and rather stupid. I used urine for urn, many times
to for too and too for to, quite for quit and several more. One
item that made me gasp for air was, one paragraph ran on for ten
pages. "Oh Paul, what have you done to the Queen's English?"

My seventeen-year-old daughter was a senior in high school at
the time and I had her read what I wrote each night. She would
come back and tell me I needed to sign up at her school for an
evening class in English writing and grammar. (Got her sarcasm
genes from her father). She returned the manuscripts to me full,
and I mean full, of red marks where she had made corrections. I
knew she was right, but I just wanted her to read the story and
I accepted her corrections freely.

I was introduced to a young lady, through a mutual friend of
ours, who edited material for the University of Georgia on a
part-time basis. I asked her to read my story and give me her
thoughts, feelings and ideas. I was stunned! She loved the story
and committed to helping me do the editing. Said I needed 'lots
of help', but that she thought in several areas, my writing was
very good and I had a unique touch for describing scenes,
actions and characters to the point that the reader gets to
feel, see, taste and experience the scene. Her comments gave me
solid confidence in my role as an author and great expectations
for the book. I felt very fortunate.

We would meet every other Tuesday at a coffee shop and discuss
the homework she gave me from the previous week and how I felt
it related to the book. She would give me more homework to do
for the next meeting. Sometimes I felt like a ninth grade
English student. But her assignments, as I came to learn, gave
me meaningful insight and a larger scope of usage of all my
characters, my motives, and the direction I was going, and
ultimately, gave the story better continuity.

For example; she made me write a minimum of one page on each
character. When writing about my Dad, I had to describe his
walk, smell, and any daily habits or routines that came to my
mind. How does he reply to my questions? Does he grunt, groan,
no answer, a look, ignore me completely or what? How does he
eat, fast, slow, chew excessively, chew little, burp when he is
done and does he say excuse me or nothing at all? How does he
sleep? On his left side, right side, stomach or on his back?
Does he snore? Sleep silently, talk, mumble, grunt or groan? I
was astounded how much this helped me to place each character in
perspective within a scene or a specific situation. By knowing
them now, so well, I was able to deduce whether they were excess
baggage or they were very necessary.

I admired her willingness to listen to my objections to certain
words or phrases she wanted me to use. If she felt I was wrong,
she would tell me so. Most of the time I took her advice, for I
felt she was the pro and I was the student.

I owe much to that lady and acknowledge such in my book.

Once she and I felt every period was in its right place, every
paragraph justified and every chapter was where it belonged, I
set out to find a Literary Agent and/or a Publisher. I thought
the writing was a huge task, but getting your work noticed by
the publishing world was like writing, only now it's times ten
to the tenth power.

I have a stack of rejection letters eighteen inches high. If
your name is not Brown, Patterson, Albom or Silva, agents or
publishers do not want to talk to you. You are not a money
making machine for them. And at my age, they figure he's not
going to be a very good investment anyway. So, you get slips
that say; not interested, not our genre, not for us, sorry,
needs lots of work, you don't start off a story at a party. (I
still don't understand what that agent meant by that remark)
looks good, but try someone else. There were many others that
implied the same message.

It's demeaning, frustrating, irritating and down right
depressing. What really upsets one is that you know that the
recipient has not read the book. I have heard stories from
agents and publishers that claim the office staff of most
publishers and agents developed a procedure whereas a minimum
wage clerk opens the package, dumps the manuscripts/books, takes
your SASE, if there is one, inserts a piece of paper that
states; "Sorry, not for us." How do they know that they didn't
just toss away the book of the decade? They don't and they don't
care. They receive so many requests that they can't possibly
read and reply to each one. Somebody, somewhere, sometime has to
address this problem. The man picking up the trash is going to
have the bestseller one day.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Have you ever wondered how to install hardwood floor panels to
make your home beautiful inside? There are many methods of
installing hardwood flooring currently in use. One of the best
do it yourself hardwood floors is the floating hardwood floor.
The term floating doesn't refer to a floor that is sitting in
liquid. Floating means that, while the floor is fastened to
itself, it is not fastened down to the subsurface.

A floating hardwood floor has some disadvantages you should be
aware of before proceeding with your installation. These floors
will sometimes feel like you're walking on a bubble. And, each
bubble you step on will have a creaky sound.

On the other hand, those bubbles give the floor a much softer
feel than a well-fastened hardwood floor. And, the floating
floor is much easier to maintain. Best of all, it is one of the
cheapest types of hardwood floors to install.

Before continuing with the installation of a floating hardwood
floor, we highly recommend that you consider using oak as your
hardwood floor material. Oak looks beautiful and provides
lasting durability.

-Tools Needed to Install a Floating Hardwood Floor

Broom and Dust Pan - It is important to keep everything clean
as you go. It is particularly important to keep the saw dust out
from under and between your panels where it can really throw
things off kilter. If it gets in there, there is no way to get
it out without the very difficult process of hardware floor
disassembly.

Carpenter's Crayon - You'll have to cut up your panels to make
them fit in the corners and make them go around objects that
cannot be removed from the room having the hardwood floor
installed. You may also want to use your carpenter's crayon to
mark a layout pattern of where to place your flooring panels.

Circular Saw - Your saw is what you will use as you cut along
the lines you drew with your carpenters crayon.

Claw hammer - In most places, you will use a rubber mallet to
help push the boards together, but in those places near the wall
where you don't have enough room to swing the mallet, you can
use the claw hammer to fit them together.

Cushioning Surface - You can make your floating hardwood floor
feel even softer to the feet with the use of a cushioning
surface under the floor. You would be shocked by the difference
between a floor with the surface and a floor without the surface
if you could try the two side by side.

Cutter Knife - The cutter knife comes in handy in more places
than you would expect as you work on your floor. But the main
reason we recommend this tool is so that you can make minor cuts
on the panel ends when you just can't quite make them fit
together.

Glue - Floating hardwood floors aren't supposed to be glued
together. However, you might find you get better results if you
just put a bit of glue at the end of each panel as you connect
them. Of course, this will mean you'll need to be very careful
not to get any glue on your floor surface.

Nails - You will need to nail the floating floor to the wall
strips. It may help to use a drill to do pilot holes to prevent
the wood from splitting, but if you're a gambler, you can just
hammer these nails in without pilot holes. Most people do that
anyways.

Rubber Mallet - The rubber mallet is what you use to fit the
panels together at the joints. However, you need to be very
careful not to hit the panels too hard and damage the panel
surfaces.

-Preparing to Install Floating Hardwood Floor Panels

Before you install your floating hardwood floor panels, you
need to get your cushioning sheet installed. You can use your
cutter knife to make it fit. Some people find that making it
into many small pieces is much more manageable than trying to
fit a large piece in the room. These pieces should be laid in
the same direction as your panel rows.

One of the nice parts of using a cushioning sheet is that
debris on the sheet or lumps in the surface below it have a less
dramatic effect on the floor. However, you should still try to
get all of these straightened out to the extent you can see
them.

For debris, just use your broom and dust pan to remove them.
It's not such a big of a one-time task when you consider the
implications are pretty close to permanent if you fail to remove
them.

-Installing a Floating Hardwood Floor

1.Place your first panel in the corner with the ends with a
cavity in them towards the walls.

2.Put a little bit of glue in the cavity of the next panel.

3.Attach the next panel to the first panel quickly after step
two.

4.You may need to work with the rubber mallet gently to ensure
that the two panels come together snuggly. If the wall gets in
the way of the rubber mallet, you can use your claw hammer to
nudge it in place.

5.Continue this until you get to the end of the row where you
will need to mark off the excess length of your last panel with
the carpenter's crayon. Then cut the panel to fit using the
circular saw.

6.Use the remaining piece of the panel to start the next row of
hardwood.

7.If you are using the glue, as in step two, you'll need to be
careful to get the entire adhesive off of each row as you
complete it or it may do permanent damage to the hardwood
surface.

8.Make sure you fit your entire pieces well, especially the
last corner piece. If you have fit everything together just
right, your floor will be much more stable. And, it will look
better after the next step.

9.Now you go around all of the room walls and place the wall
strips. You should nail these strips to the wall and to the
floor. This will stabilize your floor. This will also make the
edges of your new floor look better.

-How to Install Floating Hardwood Floor - Clean Up

As with any big woodworking project, you can expect to have a
mess as you go. There are such debris as saw dust, cut
splinters, glue spots, and more. While you were trying to clean
as you went, you should really do a final inspection and
cleaning at the completion of the project. You don't want any
saw dust or wood chips scraping across your new floor before you
even get to admire its smooth shine.

After your floor has had a day to settle you can clean it with
a mildly wet mop to get everything else up that you might have
missed. You need to dry the floor up right away after mopping,
of course. Otherwise, your wood will swell and lumps will form.

-Hindsight Tips for Installing Your Floating Hardwood Floor

You do not need to be terribly careful with the cushioning
sheets. Don't spend all day trying to get exact measurements. As
long as there are no major overlaps or separations between them,
your floor should be just fine.

When you are working with your hardwood panels, it is important
not to rush. You should not be moving on and placing another
panel until the current panel is completely and firmly connected
to the other panels. But be very careful when using the rubber
mallet and other tools on the panels not to cause surface
damage.

The surfaces are quite fragile when they are not yet anchored
in place. It is very hard to go back and fix later if you missed
a panel early in the installation process.

Be careful when measuring your panels for cutting at the end of
the row that you are marking off the right part of your panel
for cutting. One of the most common mistakes is to have the
panel backwards while measuring it and then end up with the
wrong pieces being the lengths you need. Save yourself some time
and be careful.

-Feeling Good after You Install Your Floating Hardwood Floor

You have saved a lot of money by installing a floating hardwood
floor yourself. And, if you don't like it, you've chosen one of
the easiest hardwood floors to replace. But, of course you like
it.

Hardwood floors look great. And, your new floating hardwood
floor feels great too with its cushioning surface. Your
neighbor's glued down floor may not creak much, but your
neighbor's feet don't feel like they're floating when he walks
on his floor.

According to the website for Cover the Insured website, one of
the highest age groups that are uninsured is made up of men and
women in the 21- to 44-year-old bracket. According to the
Chicago Tribune, 70 million Americans are underinsured.
Sixty-one point nine percent (61.9%) of full-time workers are
uninsured. According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute,
health care costs have increased steadily since the 1960's at a
rate of a 10% increase per year.

A study by Harvard University researchers found that 50% of all
bankruptcy filings were partially the result of medical
expenses. Many people go into debt and have bad credit due to
unpaid medical bills. If an unexpected event occurs that causes
you to lose your job or become ill you could end up homeless.
You should have some type of insurance no matter what your
salary. Here are 3 benefits to having insurance:

1. Insurance can be used to reimburse for a loss that occurs

2. Insurance protects against harm to something or someone

3. Insurance saves you money in the future

There are several types of insurance available: life, health,
dental, home, auto, fire, flood, credit card insurance,
disability (short term and long term), and many more. The basic
types of insurance everyone should have are: health, life and
disability. All three actually work together. Health insurance
is needed if you develop a health condition or need to go to the
emergency room. Disability insurance is used if you have a
short-term or long-term medical condition that prevents you from
working and ensures that you still continue to receive a
paycheck, usually at least 60% of your salary. Life insurance is
used in the event a family member dies.

When buying insurance it is best to comparison shop. You can
contact the Better Business Bureau or search their website for
companies and view their reliability report. If your employer
does not provide health, life or disability insurance you can
purchase insurance on your own. Go to eHealthInsurance to get
quotes on affordable health insurance.

If you need health insurance for your children visit the Insure
Kids Now site. For information on disability insurance, visit
Assurity company's website. If you cannot afford to purchase
insurance, make sure you get enough rest, eat well and exercise.
Try to get a part-time job to pay for insurance costs.

If you are able to purchase additional types of insurance such
as home owner's insurance, auto or fire insurance, it is best to
purchase bundled packages or several insurance policies with the
same company, such as insuring multiple cars with the same
insurance company.

Many companies give you a discount if you purchase multiple
products, but you have to ask for it. Purchasing bundled
packages or multi-line policies can result in a savings of 1% to
20% depending on the company, versus buying home owner's
insurance with one company and auto insurance with another
company. You can comparison shop online with companies such
Bankrate or Progressive. You may not see the immediate benefit
of buying insurance now, but in the long run you will be glad
you did.

Architects Now Designing Homes For Mortals
The concept of owning a home designed by a well known
architect is something most of would only dream of. Times
are changing and so are the marketing plans of many
property developers who are increasingly using well known
architects to sell their homes

It is true that international property investors have a
huge choice of luxury resorts from around the world to
choose from. With so much competition attracting the most
desirable customers is becoming increasingly difficult. One
way in which some resort developers have decided to attract
potential buyers is by using high-profile architects on
their projects.

Shigery Ban, who designed the Pompidou Centre in Metz, Zaha
Hadid, Piero Lissoni, Chad Oppenheim and Japan's Kengo Kuma
are all well-known architects and designers and they are
all being employed to design luxury hotels and resorts.
What's even more astounding is that this group of celebrity
architects is currently working on one resort - Dellis Cay.
This private island is part of the Turks and Caicos Islands
in the Caribbean.

Dellis Cay is being developed by Turkish tourism magnate
Dr. Cem Kinay. Piero Lissini is designing the main hotel
and a set of villas in his typically modern, bold and
simple style. In a recent interview in The Independent, Dr.
Kinay notes that "The architects are our biggest selling
point." One bedroom apartments on Dellis Cay start at
£835,000.

Another new development that is making use of well-known
architects is Portugal's Bom Sucesso, north of Lisbon on
the Silver Coast. There are more than 20 popular European
architects that are working on different designs and
buildings for Bom Sucesso, including Alcino Soutinho,
Goncalo Byrne, Alvaro Siza Vieira and even England's
award-winning David Chipperfield. The architects adhered to
a set of rules that provide the formal unity of the
project, but which simultaneously enabled them to follow
their own original and specific objectives. Most important
among these rules and vital for the originality of the
resort, was that all rooftops should be covered in greenery
and any walls should either be covered in greenery or else
simply not exist at all.

Other resorts around the world are using architects to get
a leg up on the competition. Melvin Villarroel is working
on a community in Marbella, Spain called Lomas Club. Homes
at this development are also being designed by Angel
Taborda and Victoria Guana, and Villarroel is also working
on several other new resorts in Spain.

Matteo Thun is designing a new set of fascinating
apartments in the Austrian resort of Katschberg called
Edel:Weiss. Sir Norman Foster is working on several
projects; one is in Egypt called Serrenia and there is also
Corniche Bay resort in Mauritius. These villas will only
cost £1.7 million.

Dubai Real Estate
The attraction of property in Dubai has been consistent
over the past 3 years. Investors who bought early are
already reaping the rewards of this unique and exciting
property market. What makes this market different to the
rest are the types of property being bought and the way it
is being financed.

Types of property tend to be luxury apartments being bough
pre construction. The way they are being financed is with
the investors own money. Buying off plan allows Dubai
property investors to make payments in stages over 2 or 3
years.

Dubai is the most populated and second largest Emirate in
the United Arab Emirates. It has seen enormous construction
and has attracted investors worldwide to its real estates
projects.

The good news is that the Dubai real estate market is
maturing and the big banks have woken up to the fact that
Dubai mortgages are potentially very big business.

The early troubles with a Dubai mortgage all stemmed around
the difficulties foreign buyers had securing the freehold
on a property. Since the announcement on March 12 2006 that
non United Arab Emirates nationals may be given the right
to own freehold properties in some parts of Dubai, massive
interest has been stirred in overseas property investors.
Demand is surging and real estate is in short supply many
off plan developments sell out in days of release.

Now with laws passed and established zones in Dubai where
freehold ownership is not in question the banks are finally
acting. The Dubai mortgage market is set to be one of the
most competitive markets in the world. The worlds investors
are looking at Dubai long and hard. Investors will not
tolerate being ripped off with high price mortgages.

Unlike many overseas markets most freehold property in
Dubai has not bought with mortgage finance. This gives the
market a huge amount of resilience. Many of the mortgage
providers in Dubai will only lend to non residents in the
Dubai freehold zones.

Properties for sale that are suitable for foreign buyers
are in the following freehold zones: Dubai Sports City ,
Dubai Marina , I.M.P.Z. International Media Production Zone
, Jumeirah Village , The Palm Jumeirah, Shaikh Zayed Road,
International City, The Lagoons, Palm Deira, Jebel Ali
Airport, Emirates Road, Dubai Land ,Business Bay ,Downtown
Dubai and much more

So what is attracted international Banks to Dubai that's
simple money and plenty of it. Dubai's population is
currently in the region of 1.4 million citizens, by 2010 it
is expected that Dubai will be home to 3.5 million
residents. The Banks anticipate a huge demand for property
and in turn a big demand for mortgages. The large multi
nationals will be moving in and with them their employees
all needing a place to live.

Most of Dubai population is set to be made up from people
from overseas. Dubai will be truly multi cultural multi
national and that feeling is already in Dubai. Experience
Dubai nightlife and you will see it is a truly multi
national experience.

The future for the big banks is bright as overseas
investors will feel more secure going with mortgage
providers that they are familiar with.

In all Dubai appears to be a great place to invest in real
estate

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Let's start with Janice, a typical mom with special concerns:

Janice sat on the front stoop with her head in hands. The rays
of the setting sun were streaming in through the rose trellis
but on this evening she didn't even notice the fragrant shadows
dancing in the golden light. She just needed to get out of the
house, away from him and away from the fighting.

"I dearly love my kids but sometimes I hate being a mom," she
had confided to her best friend, Kelly, over coffee just that
morning. "I feel like I am constantly fighting them over
something. If it's not the TV or video games then it's homework
or money or chores. That's bad enough with the older two but
when Tyler refuses to do his medical treatments it just sends me
over the top. He knows that if he doesn't take care of his
lungs, he'll die but I don't think he cares." Tears welling up
in her eyes, Janice continued, "He's sixteen and will soon be on
his own. When he turns eighteen, the doctors can't even give me
any information about how he is doing. Without me there to nag
him into compliance, I know that he is going to take years off
his life. He just doesn't get it. I don't know what to do. I'm
worn out and I feel like a complete failure as a mom." Kelly had
nodded and gently patted Janice's hand. "It sounds like you are
having a hard time. Hang in there; you're a great mom. It will
get better…"

Janice sat on the stoop recalling Kelly's encouraging words but
she was having a hard time believing things would really get
better. She'd been here before. Sure, things improved for a
little while but then Tyler would do something to trigger
another crisis. She recalled the last one: when she had
discovered that he was throwing his meds into the garbage can at
school. One of the students discovered the pills and reported it
to the school officer. There were plenty of rumors flying around
about the discovery of the drugs until one of Tyler's buddies
recognized the pills as pancreatic enzymes. Even up to the end,
Tyler refused to 'fess up. And then there was that time when the
school bully made fun of him because of his cough. Tyler decked
him and was suspended for three days. Tyler was clearly having a
hard time coping with having cystic fibrosis.

Janice just didn't know how to talk with him anymore. She
sighed. Kids today give parents enough to worry about: sex,
drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, cutting. But, when there are
life and death medical issues on top of it all, it seems like
just too much.

"How did it come to this?" she whispered to herself. She
remembered when Ty was a little boy. He was so eager to please
that it didn't take too much effort to get him started on his
meds. Oh sure, he'd hem and haw every now and then but she'd
promise him a special treat and he'd comply. It didn't take long
until he began demanding, "Where's my treat?" upon completing
his medications. Janice, also eager to please, made sure she had
a plentiful stock of candies and small toys on hand.

This bribery thing had bothered Janice a little. She kind of
felt like he was holding her hostage but "kids need to be
motivated; I'll do whatever it takes to get him to comply."
Besides, she didn't want to make his life tougher than it
already was; she felt really bad for him. And, if truth be told,
she really didn't have the will to fight him. It was so much
easier just to give him the treat. Unfortunately, the treats
starting getting bigger and bigger: a new snowboard for a
month's worth of treatments; a trip to Disneyland after a
hospitalization for IV meds.

Tyler always wanted more and rarely seemed grateful. He could
easily bring his mom to her knees with a simple refusal to take
his life-saving medications. To make matters worse, Ty blamed
her when things didn't go right or when he got sick! There was
no question about who was in control of the home but Janice was
out of ideas. And energy. She was simply worn out.

Special parenting skills are needed when raising kids with
health issues. Both the stakes and the emotions can run very
high - a potentially dangerous combination. Kid's lives are
saved when they are protected by their parents. Kid's lives are
lost when they are over-protected by their parents. If
protection is not the major portion of love shown in the early
years, the infant dies. If protection is a major part of the
love parents show teens, they become hostile, dependent and
usually, rebellious. That rebellion may lead to car accidents,
drugs, and death.

Protection, like all good things, has a dark side when
delivered too freely. In fact, protection could be one of the
best examples of: "Too much of a good thing is not a good
thing!"

Toddlers don't have the capacity to be more concerned about
maintaining good health than the parents so parents must
shoulder most of the concern about health issues in toddlerhood.
Depending upon the maturity of the child, by the time a child is
in first and second grade, they should be shouldering more of
the concern about their health than the parents. Certainly by
the time most children are in third grade and eight-years-old,
they are well aware of their health problems.

When children suffer from illness or medical conditions, they
need more protection. Parents understandably fall into checking
on medication dosage and timing, managing dietary concerns,
scheduling trips to the physician's office, and become much more
involved in their children's health than the parents of well
children. Depending upon the medical condition, its severity and
the character of children and the parents, the line between
necessary protectiveness and over-protection can become very
blurred. The problem is compounded by the fact that the more a
person is protected, the more he or she comes to need it. So
giving protection, whether it is bestowed by loving parents or
the federal government generally leads to a spiral of
ever-increasing involvement with the associated risk of
ever-increasing entitlement and hostile dependency.

When people are hostile dependent, it means they feel helpless
or cheated and always demanding more while expecting others to
give it to them, rather than accepting the responsibility for
taking care of their own wants and needs. They can become angry,
bitter, blaming, rebellious and hostile. And when children
become rebellious and hostile, they often become
self-destructive. For a child, what could be more effective to
upset loving parents than to refuse to take good care of
yourself? What causes more parental angst than a child who takes
drugs or ignores medical regimens? So the parents of ill
children can feel boxed in between the rock of unchecked illness
and the hard spot of attempting to control the health of an
increasingly resistant child.

This sad cycle is so common that it might almost be considered
"normal" for kids with serious health concerns. But happily,
with the right techniques, it is less likely to occur. So how do
parents avoid raising hostile-dependent children? And how can
parents best insure that their child is "respectful, responsible
and pleasant to be around?" There are many good answers that are
effective for most children most of the time. Those answers
include how parents should encourage rather than praise their
children; how they can develop problem-solving skills in their
children; how parents show empathy rather than anger before
allowing consequences to fall and include techniques that avoid
showing parental frustration. It truly takes a book to clearly
define all the answers but here are some guidelines:

- Entitlement begins when children no longer say "thank you" to
giving parents.

- Hostile Dependency shows when children are angry when parents
don't fix the child's problem.

- When children demonstrate a higher ability to perform tasks
for others than they show at home, then parental over-protection
and low expectations is the usual cause.

- Children who are blaming attempt to manipulate and increase
parental guilt in order to control the situation.

- Wise parents do not excuse disrespect, for it sets the
foundation for their child's hostile and self destructive
behavior.

Finally, we rejoice in the fact that protection of others has a
positive side. A shining aspect of the human soul sparkles when
we act on our desires to help one another out of difficult
situations, even at our own detriment. On a deep level,
sacrifice for another may actually be a gift we give ourselves.
When we see a person who has lived a sacrificial life for
others, our own soul confirms, "That's a sweet person who
deserves a special place in heaven!"

But too much sugar leads to a death from diabetes.

Excerpt From Bucky Covington
Top 10, Season 5

If you asked me what my favorite subject was in high school,
I'd have to be honest and tell you flat out — it was lunch. I
wasn't into the books very much. In fact, I wasn't into them at
all. I didn't need to have my head buried in books and world
maps because the map of my own life was already planned out for
me. Carved in stone the day I was born, actually.

When I got out of high school, I'd head up Mill Road to the
body shop where my grandpa and dad worked the 9-to-5 and did
very well for themselves in our small town of Rockingham, North
Carolina. My twin brother, Rocky, and I carried on the respected
tradition of the Covington men. I couldn't break the tradition
that had been in our family for over fifty years. They were
counting on me to keep the shop growing, and the way I was
raised in the South, you do what is expected of you and never
disappoint the people you love — you just don't.

And so, I didn't.

Ten years passed, and one morning my faithful alarm clock rang,
as it did every morning. I woke to the silence of our small
town. Not too much stirs at 7:30 here, other than the sound of
an old dog barking or my mom's kettle whistling on the stove. My
routine was the same as it had been for the past decade, and
with each passing morning, I wrestled more and more with the
thought of doing it again and again . . . and again.

I could practically do it with my eyes closed, and that feat of
mastery bothered me every waking minute of every day. I took no
pride in the simplicity of my life. Something was empty.
Something was missing — for me, anyway.

This morning was no different in some respects. My thoughts
were elsewhere as usual, and not on Mr. Thompson's '87 pickup
that needed sanding in an hour.

But today, I was charged with excitement as I rolled out of bed
and into the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror, focused
on one thing. How do I tell my father that I have just learned
the American Idol auditions have been moved from Memphis to our
home state of North Carolina? I had thought long and hard about
going to Memphis, but the trip would've been too expensive, and
there was no way I could leave my father shorthanded at the shop
for over a week. But then yesterday my sister-in-law called . .
.

"Bucky!" she said. "The auditions have been moved to
Greensboro! You can go now!"

I knew at that very moment that everything in my life could
change. Greensboro was just an hour away and I knew this was
fate calling me. I took it as a sign. I'm not sure if it was an
angel or the Big Man himself, but deep down, I knew what I had
to do. It burned inside of me. My hands were willing to go sand
that old truck, but my heart told me something very different.
It told me to sing.

Back in the bedroom, my old shirt and shorts were lying in a
heap on the floor. I threw them on and punched my fist into my
dirty baseball cap. I went into the kitchen, packed myself a
lunch, and headed out the back door, letting the old wooden
screen slam behind me. I jumped into my beat-up Chevy truck,
started it up with a pair of vice grips, and headed out onto the
one road where I had spent my life — Mill Road. My entire family
did everything on this road. Covingtons lived on it, worked on
it, and raised families on it. As I pulled my truck onto the
trusted blacktop, I could think of only one thing — to get as
far away from Mill Road as I possibly could. Sure I loved it,
but I knew in my heart there were bigger roads for me to travel,
and I was praying my music would guide me to them.

I drove to Bojangles drive-thru and ordered my usual — a
sausage biscuit with jelly and a large sweet tea. I sat in the
parking lot listening to the morning DJ while I waited for Rocky
to meet me. His truck pulled in, and together we headed to the
dusty garage that housed four bays.

I sanded three cars that day, and all I could hear was the
voice in my head, I am done! Man, I got to get out of here! It's
funny because I loved the body shop. I loved working with my
brother, father, and cousin. And yet, all the while, I'd just
hear that voice, Bucky, you gotta get out of here and go do
music!

I was counting on my father to understand my story because he
had gone through it himself. He had been an amazing athlete and
a great football punter back in high school. There was only one
guy that could outpunt him in the state, and he ended up playing
for the Washington Redskins. I only hoped my dad would
understand as we sat down together.

It was the end of the day before we had a chance to talk. When
I saw my dad putting away his tools after finishing up the last
job, I took a deep breath and walked over to him.

"Dad, do you ever think back on your life when you played ball?
Do you ever think that maybe you should've taken that chance and
gone pro?"

My father didn't utter a word. He just looked me in the eye and
listened.

"Do you ever look back and think maybe you should've tried,
Dad? Maybe you should've taken that one chance?"

His eyes filled with tears. "My life is good, Bucky. I'm okay
with it. I have three great kids. I'm very happy with what I've
chosen."

"Dad, I just don't want to wake up one day when I'm forty years
old and say, What if? What if I had taken that chance and dared
to leave the body shop? I don't want that feeling haunting me
for the rest of my life."

I remember the silence in the shop as I continued.

"Dad, I need a yes or no answer. Do you think I should go?
Honestly, what do you really think my chances are if I go to
Greensboro?"

He just looked at me. Then, wiping his dirty hands with a
ripped-up old rag, my dad spoke slowly and from his heart.

"Bucky, not only do I think that you have as good of a shot as
anybody, I think you've got to go. You can't stay here and
wonder your whole life, son. You gotta listen to that voice
inside of you and go. I'll be fine here at the shop. We'll
manage. Walk out that door and go sing, Bucky. Just go!"

So I went. First I went home and packed a bag, then I loaded my
truck, and, with my father's blessing, I drove slowly out of
town on ol' Mill Road. I knew every crack in the pavement. I
thought about all the balls I had caught on it, and all the bike
racing I'd done on it. I headed down that trusted road and
prayed my fate would be at the other end. Not knowing where the
road would take me, I pulled my strength from my father's
parting words:

"And Bucky, you're gonna be great."

I am constantly asked as to whether more expensive steam
cleaners are worth the money. Learn how to distinguish between
the good and the bad units from someone who works with steam
cleaners for a living. Steam cleaners are the perfect household
cleaning tool for allergy sufferers or anyone who wants a clean
and healthy home environment without supermarket chemical
cleaners. These deep cleaning products are powerful and
effective carpet steam cleaners with vigorous mechanical brushes
and serious vacuum power. With top of the line, truck mounted
carpet steam cleaners, we are sure to get out the toughest
stains including pet stains! Most steam cleaners kill dust mites
on contact, removes allergens, kill bacteria, and removes mold
and mildew. Steam cleaners are the perfect household cleaning
tool for allergy sufferers and all those wanting a clean and
healthy home environment.

Steam Cleaners and Steam Vapor cleaning systems that we have
used ourselves and found to be the very best for their quality,
reliability, price ranges, value and cleaning uses. For example
a WhiteWing produces steam at 285 degrees Fahrenheit, compared
to under 250 degrees for less expensive home vapor steam
cleaners. This increased heat will clean music better and
obviously kill/destroy more allergens.

The biggest misconception about (vapor) steam cleaners is that
many of people think you turn the steam on and that it stays on
for a long period of time while you perform your cleaning clean.
On the small cheaper units, this is defiantly not true. While on
the bigger more industrial models such as a karcher, this is
more likely. In truth Karcher are more renowned for there
pressure washers, but unknown to many Karcher Steam Cleaners are
one of the best money can buy. Whether it is a cleaning task in
the home, garden or garage, Karcher have the perfect solution
from pressure washers and steam cleaners to water pumps and
sweepers and many more. All steam cleaners and steam cleaning
equipment and machines include patented features and
technological advancements unavailable elsewhere with any other
brands of steam cleaner.

The Ladybug is the most popular of our steam cleaners and for
good reason. Steam Vapor Cleaners Using less than a gallon of
tap water, dry steam cleaners create a low moisture vapor that
carries heat to the surface you wish to treat. This allows the
heated vapor to penetrate cracks and crevices and reach areas
that ordinary steam cleaners cannot.

Steam Cleaners, Upright Steam Cleaners and Portable Steam
Cleaners, including DeLonghi Steam Cleaners to keep your drapes
and upholstery looking sharp.

In summary I would defiantly suggest, buying a more expensive
steam cleaner. The products you see on shopping channels and a
pitch exhibitions are usually (but not always) cheap products,
designed to look good in a demonstration in the hands of someone
who professionally sells this product for a living. However you
usually find once you get it home it won't even clean your
alloys. Out of Experience I would suggest a Karcher, as they are
the machines I have used the most. However, any of the big
brands are a great choice. Happy Steaming!

Whether you travel by plane, train, or automobile, sitting in
confined spaces for long periods can cause a number of problems
– considerable pressure on joints, crimped circulation,
increased risk of blood clots, stiff, cramped muscles, increased
fatigue, back and neck pain and knee discomfort.

Travel tips for planes and trains:

Good posture and proper body mechanics are the key to
prevention of back, neck, and joint discomfort when traveling.
Try these:

• Make frequent posture changes: get up every forty-five
minutes or so to walk or stand.

• Adjust the seat as best you can to an upright position.

• Slide your bottom back, until it touches the back of the
seat.

• If there's a big space between your lower back and the chair
seat, use a lumbar pillow or rolled sweater and place it behind
your back.

• Use a traveler's pillow to decrease neck strain when
snoozing.

• If your feet don't touch the floor, place a backpack or
carry-on on the floor to rest your feet on.

• Shift weight frequently to reduce prolonged pressure on any
given point.

• Hips and knees should be at ninety-degree angles.

• Keep shoulders relaxed.

• Let forearms and elbows rest on armrests.

• If armrests are too low or hard, use a small pillow under
each forearm.

Travel Exercises:

1. Circle feet in one direction then the other.

2. Pump feet by lifting heels, keeping toes on floor.

3. Pump feet like pushing on a car accelerator.

4. Tap toes like windshield wiper blades on a car. Keep your
heels on the floor and tap toes from left to right.

5. Inhale, pull oxygen all the way down to the bottom of the
rib cage. Feel your chest expand. Exhale and pull your
abdominals in. Hold them in to a slow count of ten. Do not hold
your breath. Relax and repeat often.

6. Shrug and circle shoulders.

7. Press shoulder blades back towards spine and then down
towards waist.

Travel tips for automobiles:

We all spend a lot of time coming and going in our cars. Most
of the time, we're slumped over the wheel. Good driving posture
can help a driver stay comfortable and alert.

Adjust your car seat so it will help keep your body properly
aligned while you drive. All these little adjustments will make
a big difference in your posture and comfort.

1. Bring the back of your car seat to its straightest position.
Ideally, it should incline no more than 110 degrees.

2. Sit with your bottom all the way back, so it touches the
back of the backrest. Make sure rib cage is not drooping. Lift
it up slightly.

3. Adjust the headrest so you can sit with the back of your
head resting against it. This position puts your head directly
over your spine and allows your neck muscles to relax while your
drive.

4. Most of us were taught to hold the steering wheel at the ten
and two o'clock position. They don't teach that anymore in
driving schools. Now they ask you to hold on at an eight o'clock
and four o'clock position.

This position is safer in the event that your airbag deploys.
This position is also better for your posture as it allows your
arms to hang more vertically by your sides, which allows your
neck muscles to relax, greatly reducing discomfort and fatigue.

5. Don't forget to buckle up your seat belt.

Car exercises:

The following exercises can be done when you are stopped at a
red light. They will help strengthen your mid and upper back as
well as your abdominals.

1. Lift up your rib cage and press the back of your head
against the headrest. Stay lifted that way while you drive.

2. Press the back of your shoulders into the seat as if you
were trying to bring your shoulder blades closer together. Hold
for ten seconds without holding your breath then relax. Repeat
several times.

3. Tighten your abdominals. Take a deep breath. As you exhale,
pull your belly button toward your spine and hold for ten
seconds. See if you can feel the bottom of your rib cage pull
in. Don't hold your breath. Gradually build up to holding the
abdominals for thirty seconds.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Depending on the program and university involved, there is
currently a wealth of online accredited degrees available. The
job market is so competitive nowadays that people are going back
to school to get associates, bachelors and masters degrees in
droves. In fact, getting more education on an ongoing basis is
becoming mandatory for anyone interested in advancing their
career. The days of working for one company for 20 or 30 years
with limited education and retiring with a hefty pension are
long gone.

Online accredited degrees have been available for quite some
time, but the devil is in the details. Is the accreditation on
the the state, regional or national level? How much does it cost
to attend? Online degree programs have traditionally been
expensive, the good news it that with increasing competition
among so many accredited online universities, the price of
online education is going down. In addition, many traditional
bricks-and-mortar universities are offering online courses as
well as their regular curriculum in the form of continuing adult
education programs. The cost of these online courses are
often-times much less that those offered by universities that
are online only.

Individuals who have completed a large portion of their degree
program(s) already but have dropped out for financial or other
reasons may be the ones who benefit most from current trends.
You may be surprised upon submitting your completed hours and
work history to either an online or traditional institute of
higher education how little it may take to advance to the next
degree level. I can speak from personal experience that this is
so. I am currently completing a BS degree after finding out that
I only have two courses to take, in combination with my work
experience and already completed courses at a number of
universities I have attended. The sad part is that I waited so
long before I checked into what I needed to complete my degree.
Please people, don't make the same mistake I made. As the old
saying goes: "You don't know how you look until you get your
picture took!" If you take the first step and look for available
degree programs, you will discover that there are an abundance
of professional counselors available to help you free of charge.
There are also many scholarships, grants and loans out there for
people wishing to complete degrees in any area of study.
Untapped funds are waiting for those who take the initiative.

It is important to do your homework before applying to any
college, online or otherwise. Investigate a number of
universities, find out the level of accreditation for your
particular area of study and what it costs. Your best bet may be
to look for a local state-funded university that offers online
courses. Private universities, both online and traditional,
collect most of their funding from students while state
universities collect as much as 75% of the cost of a degree
program from state taxes.

Depending on your area of study, you may need to attend some
classes on campus. This is especially true of technical or
engineering degrees. Whatever your continuing education goals
are, start planning today. As difficult as higher education is,
working in a position that is not suited to your true talents
and capabilities, will in the long run be the most difficult
option.

Property in Turkey
Overseas buyers heading for the cultural shores of Turkey
are on the increase. Buyers from the UK are increasing and
so are German buyers all attracted to low priced real
estate, a lower cost of living and a great climate.

It's official - Turkish Tourism is on the up as
international visitors are attracted to the Turkish
climate, lifestyle and quality holiday resorts. Overseas
property professionals have also seen a rise in Turkish
Property buyers seeking to secure a home of their own in
Turkey. The Turkish Statistical Board recently announced
that 9.6 million tourists visited Turkey in the first half
of 2007, bringing in $5.9 billion. That compares to 8.27
million visitors and $5.7 billion in the first half of
2006. In July of 2007 there were an additional 3.6 million
foreign visitors. That is over a 16% increase from July,
2006 when there were 3.1 million visitors. It is also the
8th straight month of tourism increases in Turkey, showing
the increased strength and viability of the market.
Overseas property professional are also reporting an
increase in activity from buyers searching for a Turkish
property. So what can you get for your money? Two bed
freehold apartments start from GBP27, 000.

The combination of low property prices, low cost of living
and increasing demand is forcing property prices up and
increases of 20 - 25% pa are not unusual.

Property hotspots for growth are the area of Antalya, this
is a favourite spot for foreigners looking to buy or rent
property in Turkey. Last year over six million tourists
from 160 countries visited this city on Turkey's southern
coast. It has an ideal location overlooking the
Mediterranean Sea, a modern, international airport that
makes it easy to get to, and a climate with over 300 days
of sun each year.

Turkey has recently introduced mortgages for non resident,
and this, together with the increasing number of low cost
direct flights, continuing EU entry negotiations are all
adding to the upward property price pressure. As in
previous EU applications, this increase in demand is set to
continue. Germans are now the largest numbers of foreign
visitors to Turkey, followed by Russia and then the UK. The
Netherlands, France, Belgium, Austria, Iran, Bulgaria and
Ukraine round out the top ten countries with tourists to
Turkey, totalling 65% of all the visitors to the country.
Ahmet Barut, Chairman of the Turkish Hotels Federation,
noted that the "number of tourists who came to Istanbul
since the beginning of 2007, increased 30 percent over the
same period of last year. Many Japanese, South Korean,
Asian, Far Eastern and American tourists prefer Istanbul
this year."

Why On Earth Invest in Thailands Bangkok

Why On Earth Invest in Thailands Bangkok
Thailand investment potential for overseas property buyers
are enormous. Expanding tourism, easy accessibility and low
property prices make for an investors paradise.

Thai culture has always been greatly influenced by China
and India giving an exotic blend for which The Kingdom of
Thailand has become famous. Buyers in Thailand tend to be
mostly investors who are looking to cash in on the booming
tourist industry however with increasing demand this is set
to change

Overseas investors will be pleased that Bangkok recently
opened a new airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), often
called New Bangkok International Airport, which is 25
kilometers east of downtown. This facility has flights from
all over the world on most major airlines. The old
international airport, Don Muang (DMK), is open for limited
domestic flights.

The Bangkok real estate market is one of the best for
international investors who are interested in the Asian
market. Research shows that the property market here is
much more affordable than other south Asian cities such as
Hong Kong and Singapore. Bangkok has a very nice climate
year round and is also close to many recreational
activities, such as beaches and tropical resorts.

Because of low labour costs and relatively inexpensive
housing, many multinational corporations have made Bangkok
one of their overseas homes. This has, in turn, drawn a lot
of international businessmen and expatriates to the city
looking for high quality housing at reasonable prices.
There continues to be a healthy demand for property,
meaning that investments should continue to rise in value
for the foreseeable future.

The city is one of contrasts, with its fast growing urban
skyline and many old temples and historical sights. It is
also growing increasingly cosmopolitan with high end
shopping, entertainment and fine dining. Because of
Thailand's strict foreign ownership laws, apartments and
condominiums are the option of choice for most
international property seekers in Bangkok.

The new property available in Bangkok is attractive to in
the middle and upper-middle income buyers. These properties
are typically one and two bedroom units ranging in size
between 45 square meters to 80 square meters. Moving up
towards the high-end market, new additions were seen in the
Sathorn, Silom and Sukhumvit areas, with the majority of
condo units offered being two and three bedrooms from 90
square meters to 190 square meters.

My other tip for the top in Thailand is the city of Pattaya
which is to be found on the east coast of Tourism in this
area appears to be increasing year on year. According to
the Tourism Authority of Thailand 5.8 million people
visited Pattaya in 2006. The combination of its big, wide
beaches, water sports, interesting attractions,
sightseeing, shopping, makes Pattaya's a great place to buy
property in Thailand.

In summary Thailand offers a host of opportunities for the
international real estate investor

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Outdoor rope lights are the term given to lights that are made
in long tubes. Many people use them to bring a feature of their
garden, home or yard into focus. The lights themselves are
subtle, so as not to over accentuate anything. The standard
style consists of many half-watt bulbs or micro-bulbs spaced
approximately one inch apart and contained in a clear or a
colored flexible resin tube. You can find one hundred and ten
volt and twelve-volt lights available. They rated for both
indoor and outdoor usage.

Outdoor rope light bulbs are virtually maintenance free and
thus are not replaceable. These particular little lights are
rated for approximately twenty-five thousand hours of use before
they will fail, which is an incredible length of time. The
plastic tube will get only slightly warm thus does not pose a
fire hazard. There is really no limit to what people do with
these lights. Use your imagination and light up just about
anything. They are great for barbeques after dark or birthday
parties or just lighting up your back deck.

Another great use of outdoor rope lights is along a poorly lit
pathway or walkway so that you and your guests do not stumble in
the dark. They are available for purchase in a few different
ways. You can buy them in a kit, which normally includes thirty
to fifty feet of lights, a one hundred twenty volt power cord
and clips for securing the rope. Also, available are splice
fittings in case you want to connect several lengths together.

There are several different colors of outdoor rope lights
available including clear, green, orange, red, purple, blue,
yellow and pink. Most versions provide steady illumination while
others can blink at different intervals or even appear to chase
each other. They are easy to install for just about anyone. One
end connects to a power connection at any standard household
outlet. You can connect ropes together with splice connectors;
however, you cannot connect a ten-volt version to a one hundred
ten volt version.

Outdoor rope lights are held in place by several different
methods. The rope snaps into small plastic clips that are held
in place by nails or glue. To enhance the appearance of the
lights, metal reflectors in either silver or gold are installed.
You can purchase these lights at most lighting stores, home
centers or electrical shops. Instructions are always included if
needed. If you are unsure about the proper installation
procedures or safety issues check with a licensed electrician or
home center staff member.

Outdoor rope lights will enhance any backyard landscape scene.
They can also be used as decorative lighting during the holiday
seasons. Some nightclubs also use them as a way to provide
casual lighting. Many landscaping companies are also starting
to use them to light walkways for clients as well. It is
possible that they are just a fad and could fade away like other
fads before them. If you are concerned about trends then you can
always remove them if they fall out of style.
