Rejection is never easy. But some authors can't separate
themselves from their work, and take rejection letters very
personally. I get many emails from disgruntled writers who can't
get past their anger to figure out why their work was turned
down in the first place. So before you spend hours sticking pins
in your editor voodoo doll, see if you recognize yourself below:

The complaint: "Editors practice age discrimination. I'm over
50 and editors believe only young authors can write for
children."

The truth: Editors are interested in finding good books,
period. It doesn't matter how old the author is. Take a look at
the lists of award winners (ask your librarian, or do an
Internet search for Caldecott or Newbery Awards) and note the
ages of the authors. Many didn't start writing until their kids
were in school full time, or took up writing as a second career.
Editors also know that the best stories come from years of life
experience, and older writers have more to draw from. Yes,
occasionally a book written by a teenager will make the news,
but more often than not it's the novelty of the author's age
that gets the publicity, not the quality of the writing. And why
does the editor know your age in the first place? There's no
reason to mention it in your cover or query letter, unless it
has direct bearing on the story. If you're writing historical
fiction and you actually lived through the events in the plot,
or your nonfiction book is based on years of study in the
subject, then your age is a plus.

The complaint: "I'm a man, and editors think only women can
write children's books."

The truth: Sorry guys, but this one's a little ridiculous.
Again, look at that list of award winners. Men are
well-represented. Glance through the names of editors in
Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market published by Writer's
Digest Books. Lots of men there too. The only time your gender
might be an issue is with the readers themselves. For example,
teenage boys might not buy a science fiction/adventure story
written by a woman, or middle grade girls may think a man can't
possibly pen a series featuring four adolescent girls at summer
camp. They're wrong, but you can always use your first initial
instead of your name to fool your audience.

The complaint: "They're just wrong about my writing! All
editors want these days are famous names, not quality books."

The truth: Yes, many editors (especially those at larger
houses) have to be concerned with making money for the
publisher, and so rely on a certain number of established
authors each year to pay the bills. But they also know they need
to find new writers, because those standbys aren't going to be
writing forever.

Sometimes it's almost impossible to interpret a rejection
letter, and one or two form rejections does not mean you're a
failure. Editors are people too, with personal tastes and the
need to balance each list by subject matter and age group.
However, several rejections in a row deserve a closer look. Are
you submitting to appropriate publishers, who actually publish
the kind of book you've written? Have any of the houses on your
list recently published a book very similar to yours? Is your
manuscript riddled with typos or grammatical errors? Even though
a copy editor will fix these before the book's published, sloppy
presentation can give an editor reason to reject a manuscript
when she's got 50 others sitting on her desk waiting for her
attention.

In most cases, though, it's the writing that gets the
manuscript rejected. And since it's the editor's job to
recognize good writing and help those authors make their books
even better, there is a chance (admit it!) that the rejection is
deserved. How can you tell? First of all, if you get personal
comments about your manuscript in the rejection letter, take
those to heart. Play devil's advocate and assume the editor's
right, and see if those changes improve the work. Secondly, get
objective input. Join a writer's group, get a professional
manuscript critique, or pay for a personal critique session at a
writer's conference (most Society of Children's Book Writers &
Illustrators workshops--www.scbwi.org--have optional one-on-one
critiques). Take writing classes, read books on writing. Do
whatever you can to learn how to judge your work and make it
better.

The complaint: "Publishers aren't interested in publishing
books that will help kids."

The truth: Whoa! If children's book publishers didn't produce
books that benefit kids, they'd go out of business in a
heartbeat. Of course, we can all walk into a book store and find
books that aren't worth the paper they're printed on, but that's
true of any product. (Have you ever bought a T-shirt that
disintegrated in the first wash, or a DVD player that
self-destructed in a week?) I'm not saying that's a good thing,
but our society seems to tolerate a certain amount of drivel in
the marketplace. However, all publishers prefer
commercially-appealing books that also have substance. This
complaint consistently comes from writers whose goal is to "help
kids," or teach them how to grow into solid, caring citizens
through their books. This is admirable and even desirable, but
very often the message is heavy-handed and preachy. The message
smothers the story, and the book ends up sounded like a lecture.
It's simply not good writing. Try reading several popular books
wit h a message embedded in the plot (ask a teacher or librarian
for recommendations) and work on the writing-improvement
suggestions above.

The complaint: "I'm disabled/poor/have had a hard life and want
to share my story, but no one will listen."

The truth: I imagine it's difficult for an editor to reject a
manuscript that comes from someone who has struggled with
adversity and is still determined to follow their lifelong dream
of becoming a published author. The tough circumstances
themselves don't work against the writer (very often they
contribute to powerful stories) but an author's unique situation
cannot outweigh less-than-stellar writing. What's on the page is
what matters the most. If your story is too personal (it's about
your life as an adult, or you haven't extracted the universal
feelings and crafted them into a story that will be relevant to
a wide audience), the book simply won't sell in the children's
market. Again, learn what makes a quality children's book and
get objective feedback on your manuscript. Remember, no one owes
you a publishing credit just because you took the time to write
a book. Writing is hard work, and requires self-education,
practice, and persistence. There's no shame in p utting aside a
manuscript that simply won't sell and writing something new.
Every published author has a drawer full of those, and enough
rejection letters to wallpaper an office. So join the club– it's
worth the price of membership.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
When a break is executed well on the pool table, it gives the
player a better advantage over the other player. Also, when one
is consistent in breaking well on the pool table, it results
with the cue ball having a better striking position with the
other balls. With this, the player gets a better choice of
sending the other balls in the pockets with the next shot that
he executes.

There are various ways which one can break in a billiard game.
One needs to have good physics when striking the ball. Its
believed that different pool tables might determine which break
will turn out to be the best. Power and Speed are considered to
be essential but don't forget that control is needed to handle
the power that you put behind that shot.

With much practice, a player will be able to determine how to
best make the shots. There are other tricks that one can use to
improve their break on the billiard table and ultimately improve
their overall game.

Power Break

Power is considered to be crucial and important just as having
full contact with the first ball. Most pros in the billiard
profession agree that a good break moves at about twenty miles
per hour. If you can break faster than 20 mph then the better.
In the billiard game the fastest break is considered to be at
thirty miles per hour. Your break should be powerful enough but
without losing control.

Tips on Achieving a Power Break

Their are various methods you can use to execute a power break.
The important thing to note here is that you want a proper
transfer of your body weight to help your shoulders and arm
strength in wielding the break.

One good technique you can apply is by rocking your body back
and forth which assists in transferring the weight from your
front leg to the back leg. You might notice players lifting
their front legs before they strike. This helps them to transfer
their weight to their back leg and then stomp that front leg
down on contact to do the reverse.

Breaking better on the 8/9 ball game

One technique you can use on the 8 ball game is to shoot the
cue ball between the first ball and the thrid ball at a slight
angle almost parallel to the triangle's adjacent side. This is
executed from a distance far enough to give the pool player
enough space to transfer most power.

On the diamond 9 ball rack, its common to hit the head 1 ball
parallel to one of its adjacent side. As you practice more and
more on your break, you will discover which stance and power
suits you best in as yo play to drop in the wing ball.

The Break Cue

Some billiard players cannot play without the break cue. As you
use the break cue, the tip of the cue will get altered and
deformed and with time you will need to to replace the tip
because it will affect your game. The weight of the cue also
matters a lot.

Most professional players usually go for lighter break cues.
This is because when the cue is lighter, its much easier for the
billiard player to wield it with more power and speed.

Located in the North County Inland area of San Diego County
Poway real estate has become popular among homebuyers looking
for a bit more. Larger lots, larger homes, room for horses, and
room to breath best define Poway real estate. A haven amidst the
bustle of San Diego communities, Poway real estate offers low
crime, superb schools, and desirable homes. But what should you
expect if you buy into this area? Home prices, home styles,
local lifestyle, and buyer tips are all things you should know
before leaping into the hot San Diego real estate game.

Home Styles and Prices in Poway Real Estate

As prices in the San Diego housing market go, Poway real estate
is pretty affordable. Typical 3/2 detached single family homes
start around $400,000 and go up from there. In 2007 so far, the
medium price of these homes ranged from $900,000 to $1.2
million. The good news for potential buyers of Poway real estate
is that the average prices have fallen while the average numbers
of days on the market has increased in the past 6 months from 45
days to 70 days. This could mean more motivated sellers and
reduced home prices for some lucky buyers.

The homes for sale in Poway real estate are likely to be
roomier than what you'll find in a lot of San Diego communities.
The lots are larger; many people buy Poway real estate for their
love of horses and desire for room to ride. This is a bedroom
community with predominantly middle class and above
professionals and families.

The residents of Poway real estate are well-educated and place
a value on good education. 93% of locals in the Poway real
estate community have a high school diploma or more. And almost
40% have a bachelor's degree or higher. The public schools
available to Poway real estate owners are the best California
has to offer; they are ranked in the 90th percentile of
California schools.

Lifestyle Surrounding Poway Real Estate

In addition to equestrian's amenities, the community around
Poway real estate offers options to outdoor lovers of every
sort. Lake Poway is a lovely retreat surrounded by lush
hillsides and fragrant eucalyptus groves. Poway real estate
owners hike, sail, fish and camp in this welcoming outdoor oasis
year-round. The Blue Sky Ecological Reserve is a protected
habitat open to the public and staffed with a full-time
naturalist. Everyone from school-age children on field trips, to
seniors enjoying the sight of chaparral and animals in their
natural habitats, has a reason to enjoy this Poway real estate
gem.

Sometimes called the city in the country, Poway real estate's
greatest attraction to home buyers may be the breath of fresh
air it provides for residents who commute daily to busier and
more congested parts of San Diego.

Negativity by the very word suggests something bad or even
worse. Yes! That's right. Thinking of negative thoughts makes
your life hell. Unnecessary thinking over a subject without a
particular reason, against trust or faith, success or even
simply a relationship, can ruin you. Negativity implies a nature
a person possesses which ruins his or hers life along with
affecting those around. Negativity is a horrifying quality,
which every individual has, but when a person starts relying on
it then negativity becomes a big issue.

The most common thing which makes a person think negative
thoughts are why are things not happening as they were supposed
to be? Instead of finding the core reason for things not working
the way wanted, an individual will start blaming others for it.
Negativity is highly observed at work place. While giving out
promotions if your friend goes ahead of you, you start feeling
jealous and wish that you should have been in that post rather
than him. The more you are concentrating on others happiness and
enjoyment towards work, the more negative thoughts come to your
mind. This is not a case with only employees as negativity even
eats into an employer too. The competition from other companies
and the market pressure makes people think of ways by which he
or she can stop competition and never have to worry about it.
Making a single competitor lose does not mean that you are not
going to face any more problems. If not today then tomorrow a
new competitor or the same will rise.

Negativity does not restrict itself to work only, but in
personal relationships too it affects every individual falling
in its prey. When some relationship breaks either there is a
genuine reason or just simple misunderstanding.
Misunderstandings are caused due to negative thoughts coming in
your mind. Suppose your partner comes home late from work and
you just bombard him or her with questions like where were you?
Why are you late? With whom were you? The amount of "why"
questions you ask the more negativity you possess with you. This
can happen due to less trust among partners or low faith in
themselves.

Negativity has even corrupted players and athletics, the will
and wishes for winning makes them take drugs or steroids for the
extra energy and often end up in doping cases. Later they blame
their coach or physicians for doing so.

The best cure for negative thoughts not reaching you is
treatment through hypnosis. Hypnosis has been very effective in
healing negativity. Following simple steps as instructed can
help get rid of negativity. The first method or the starting
method is the pre-talk where you can understand what is the
pattern of negative thinking or how is it operating in you. You
can download mp3 or videos from the Internet regarding hypnosis
and find a way to live happily without negativity. The treatment
is simple where a person feels restful, relaxed and claim, which
in return makes him or her comfortable to fight against inner
negativity. So what are waiting for make sure you download the
mp3 today itself for being positive in life.

Our society is in some ways becoming increasingly isolated and
individualised, leading to less worthwhile personal connectivity
between us humans. In some cases this is not always a bad thing;
however the decreased amount of human interaction could be a
potential problem over time. It is my opinion that we are
already seeing the effects of this in the west. With a decrease
in interaction with other humans from many different back
grounds we run the treat of losing some of our most valuable
communication skills and in a lot of cases, don't even build the
experiences to acquire them in the first place.

So, what happens if we lose out on life experiences and
building the skills that they can help up to attain? Well with a
reduced amount of human interaction and lack of constructive
communication we can feel self conscious when we are put into
certain situations when we are older. As a hypnotherapist I help
a large amount of people with things such as social confidence
or social phobia. Nearly always it is presented to me by the
client that they feel that they just don't fit in, that their
opinion just doesn't count and that they wish just to remain in
the background – well at least until we have successfully
treated them. This is quite a common situation and something
that I help clients with on a daily basis.

So, a lack of communication and human connectivity or
interaction can lead to confidence and self esteem problems. If
this is the case for you, what can you do about it? You can
boost your confidence in many ways; however it is always best to
consider the most effective root, so that you can resolve the
issue as soon as possible. Think about where you notice your
lack of confidence, as it almost certainly will not affect you
all of the time. There may be some friends that you feel fine
with and it may be just meeting new people. You might experience
confidence issues at work or while playing sports. Once you know
where a lack of confidence or low self esteem is going to rear
its ugly head you are better placed to deal with it
successfully.

Once I have helped a client to do this I generally use hypnosis
and self hypnosis to tackle these areas specifically, and assist
the client to gain confidence just where they know that it will
be needed. This works as with hypnosis you can simply reprogram
the part of the brain that we refer to as your sub-conscious
mind and have it generate confidence in the areas that you want
and need it in.

Legalizing Crime
By Sam Vaknin
Author of "Malignant Self Love - Narcissism Revisited"

"Those who have the command of the arms in a country are masters of the
state, and have it in their power to make what revolutions they please.
[Thus,] there is no end to observations on the difference between the
measures likely to be pursued by a minister backed by a standing army, and
those of a court awed by the fear of an armed people."

Aristotle (384-322 BC), Greek philosopher

"Murder being the very foundation of our social institutions, it is
consequently the most imperious necessity of civilised life. If there were
no murder, government of any sort would be inconceivable. For the admirable
fact is that crime in general, and murder in particular, not simply excuses
it but represents its only reason to exist ... Otherwise we would live in
complete anarchy, something we find unimaginable ..."

Octave Mirbeau (1848-1917), The Torture Garden

The state has a monopoly on behaviour usually deemed criminal. It murders,
kidnaps, and locks up people. Sovereignty has come to be identified with the
unbridled - and exclusive - exercise of violence. The emergence of modern
international law has narrowed the field of permissible conduct. A sovereign
can no longer commit genocide or ethnic cleansing with impunity, for
instance.

Many acts - such as the waging of aggressive war, the mistreatment of
minorities, the suppression of the freedom of association - hitherto
sovereign privilege, have thankfully been criminalized. Many politicians,
hitherto immune to international prosecution, are no longer so. Consider
Yugoslavia's Milosevic and Chile's Pinochet.

But, the irony is that a similar trend of criminalization - within national
legal systems - allows governments to oppress their citizenry to an extent
previously unknown. Hitherto civil torts, permissible acts, and common
behaviour patterns are routinely criminalized by legislators and regulators.
Precious few are decriminalized.

Consider, for instance, the criminalization in the Economic Espionage Act
(1996) of the misappropriation of trade secrets and the criminalization of
the violation of copyrights in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (2000) -
both in the USA. These used to be civil torts. They still are in many
countries. Drug use, common behaviour in England only 50 years ago - is now
criminal. The list goes on.

Criminal laws pertaining to property have malignantly proliferated and
pervaded every economic and private interaction. The result is a bewildering
multitude of laws, regulations statutes, and acts.

The average Babylonian could have memorizes and assimilated the Hammurabic
code 37 centuries ago - it was short, simple, and intuitively just.

English criminal law - partly applicable in many of its former colonies,
such as India, Pakistan, Canada, and Australia - is a mishmash of
overlapping and contradictory statutes - some of these hundreds of years
old - and court decisions, collectively known as "case law".

Despite the publishing of a Model Penal Code in 1962 by the American Law
Institute, the criminal provisions of various states within the USA often
conflict. The typical American can't hope to get acquainted with even a
negligible fraction of his country's fiendishly complex and hopelessly
brobdignagian criminal code. Such inevitable ignorance breeds criminal
behaviour - sometimes inadvertently - and transforms many upright citizens
into delinquents.

In the land of the free - the USA - close to 2 million adults are behind
bars and another 4.5 million are on probation, most of them on drug charges.
The costs of criminalization - both financial and social - are mind
boggling. According to "The Economist", America's prison system cost it $54
billion a year - disregarding the price tag of law enforcement, the
judiciary, lost product, and rehabilitation.

What constitutes a crime? A clear and consistent definition has yet to
transpire.

There are five types of criminal behaviour: crimes against oneself, or
"victimless crimes" (such as suicide, abortion, and the consumption of
drugs), crimes against others (such as murder or mugging), crimes among
consenting adults (such as incest, and in certain countries, homosexuality
and euthanasia), crimes against collectives (such as treason, genocide, or
ethnic cleansing), and crimes against the international community and world
order (such as executing prisoners of war). The last two categories often
overlap.

The Encyclopaedia Britannica provides this definition of a crime: "The
intentional commission of an act usually deemed socially harmful or
dangerous and specifically defined, prohibited, and punishable under the
criminal law."

But who decides what is socially harmful? What about acts committed
unintentionally (known as "strict liability offences" in the parlance)? How
can we establish intention - "mens rea", or the "guilty mind" - beyond a
reasonable doubt?

A much tighter definition would be: "The commission of an act punishable
under the criminal law." A crime is what the law - state law, kinship law,
religious law, or any other widely accepted law - says is a crime. Legal
systems and texts often conflict.

Murderous blood feuds are legitimate according to the 15th century "Qanoon",
still applicable in large parts of Albania. Killing one's infant daughters
and old relatives is socially condoned - though illegal - in India, China,
Alaska, and parts of Africa. Genocide may have been legally sanctioned in
Germany and Rwanda - but is strictly forbidden under international law.

Laws being the outcomes of compromises and power plays, there is only a
tenuous connection between justice and morality. Some "crimes" are
categorical imperatives. Helping the Jews in Nazi Germany was a criminal
act - yet a highly moral one.

The ethical nature of some crimes depends on circumstances, timing, and
cultural context. Murder is a vile deed - but assassinating Saddam Hussein
may be morally commendable. Killing an embryo is a crime in some countries -
but not so killing a fetus. A "status offence" is not a criminal act if
committed by an adult. Mutilating the body of a live baby is heinous - but
this is the essence of Jewish circumcision. In some societies, criminal
guilt is collective. All Americans are held blameworthy by the Arab street
for the choices and actions of their leaders. All Jews are accomplices in
the "crimes" of the "Zionists".

In all societies, crime is a growth industry. Millions of professionals -
judges, police officers, criminologists, psychologists, journalists,
publishers, prosecutors, lawyers, social workers, probation officers,
wardens, sociologists, non-governmental-organizations, weapons
manufacturers, laboratory technicians, graphologists, and private
detectives - derive their livelihood, parasitically, from crime. They often
perpetuate models of punishment and retribution that lead to recidivism
rather than to to the reintegration of criminals in society and their
rehabilitation.

Organized in vocal interest groups and lobbies, they harp on the
insecurities and phobias of the alienated urbanites. They consume ever
growing budgets and rejoice with every new behaviour criminalized by
exasperated lawmakers. In the majority of countries, the justice system is a
dismal failure and law enforcement agencies are part of the problem, not its
solution.

The sad truth is that many types of crime are considered by people to be
normative and common behaviours and, thus, go unreported. Victim surveys and
self-report studies conducted by criminologists reveal that most crimes go
unreported. The protracted fad of criminalization has rendered criminal many
perfectly acceptable and recurring behaviours and acts. Homosexuality,
abortion, gambling, prostitution, pornography, and suicide have all been
criminal offences at one time or another.

But the quintessential example of over-criminalization is drug abuse.

There is scant medical evidence that soft drugs such as cannabis or MDMA
("Ecstasy") - and even cocaine - have an irreversible effect on brain
chemistry or functioning. Last month an almighty row erupted in Britain when
Jon Cole, an addiction researcher at Liverpool University, claimed, to quote
"The Economist" quoting the "Psychologist", that:

"Experimental evidence suggesting a link between Ecstasy use and problems
such as nerve damage and brain impairment is flawed ... using this
ill-substantiated cause-and-effect to tell the 'chemical generation' that
they are brain damaged when they are not creates public health problems of
its own."

Moreover, it is commonly accepted that alcohol abuse and nicotine abuse can
be at least as harmful as the abuse of marijuana, for instance. Yet, though
somewhat curbed, alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking are legal. In
contrast, users of cocaine - only a century ago recommended by doctors as
tranquilizer - face life in jail in many countries, death in others. Almost
everywhere pot smokers are confronted with prison terms.

The "war on drugs" - one of the most expensive and protracted in history -
has failed abysmally. Drugs are more abundant and cheaper than ever. The
social costs have been staggering: the emergence of violent crime where none
existed before, the destabilization of drug-producing countries, the
collusion of drug traffickers with terrorists, and the death of millions -
law enforcement agents, criminals, and users.

Few doubt that legalizing most drugs would have a beneficial effect. Crime
empires would crumble overnight, users would be assured of the quality of
the products they consume, and the addicted few would not be incarcerated or
stigmatized - but rather treated and rehabilitated.

That soft, largely harmless, drugs continue to be illicit is the outcome of
compounded political and economic pressures by lobby and interest groups of
manufacturers of legal drugs, law enforcement agencies, the judicial system,
and the aforementioned long list of those who benefit from the status quo.

Only a popular movement can lead to the decriminalization of the more
innocuous drugs. But such a crusade should be part of a larger campaign to
reverse the overall tide of criminalization. Many "crimes" should revert to
their erstwhile status as civil torts. Others should be wiped off the
statute books altogether. Hundreds of thousands should be pardoned and
allowed to reintegrate in society, unencumbered by a past of transgressions
against an inane and inflationary penal code.

This, admittedly, will reduce the leverage the state has today against its
citizens and its ability to intrude on their lives, preferences, privacy,
and leisure. Bureaucrats and politicians may find this abhorrent. Freedom
loving people should rejoice.

APPENDIX - Should Drugs be Legalized?

The decriminalization of drugs is a tangled issue involving many separate
moral/ethical and practical strands which can, probably, be summarized thus:

(a) Whose body is it anyway? Where do I start and the government begins?
What gives the state the right to intervene in decisions pertaining only to
my self and contravene them?

PRACTICAL:

The government exercises similar "rights" in other cases (abortion, military
conscription, sex)

(b) Is the government the optimal moral agent, the best or the right
arbiter, as far as drug abuse is concerned?

PRACTICAL:

For instance, governments collaborate with the illicit drug trade when it
fits their realpolitik purposes.

(c) Is substance abuse a personal or a social choice? Can one limit the
implications, repercussions and outcomes of one's choices in general and of
the choice to abuse drugs, in particular? If the drug abuser in effect makes
decisions for others, too - does it justify the intervention of the state?
Is the state the agent of society, is it the only agent of society and is it
the right agent of society in the case of drug abuse?

(d) What is the difference (in rigorous philosophical principle) between
legal and illegal substances? Is it something in the nature of the
substances? In the usage and what follows? In the structure of society? Is
it a moral fashion?

PRACTICAL:

Does scientific research support or refute common myths and ethos regarding
drugs and their abuse?

Is scientific research influenced by the current anti-drugs crusade and
hype? Are certain facts suppressed and certain subjects left unexplored?

(e) Should drugs be decriminalized for certain purposes (e.g., marijuana and
glaucoma)? If so, where should the line be drawn and by whom?

PRACTICAL:

Recreational drugs sometimes alleviate depression. Should this use be
permitted?
Note: The Rule of Law vs. Obedience to the Law

We often misconstrue the concept of the "rule of Law" and take it to mean
automatic "obedience to laws". But the two are antithetical.

Laws have to earn observance and obeisance. To do so, they have to meet a
series of rigorous criteria: they have to be unambiguous, fair, just,
pragmatic, and equitable; they have to be applied uniformly and universally
to one and all, regardless of sex, age, class, sexual preference, race,
ethnicity, skin color, or opinion; they must not entrench the interests of
one group or structure over others; they must not be leveraged to yield
benefits to some at the expense of others; and, finally, they must accord
with universal moral and ethical tenets.

Most dictatorships and tyrannies are "legal", in the strict sense of the
word. The spirit of the Law and how it is implemented in reality are far
more important that its letter. There are moral and, under international
law, legal obligations to oppose and resist certain laws and to frustrate
their execution.

The Day Care Dilemma: How Do I Choose?
Years ago, simply asking a friend or neighborhood teen to
babysit for you was as easy as picking up the phone. Or you
might have found an advertisement in the local newspaper.
But with day care centers and providers springing up like
daisies, the choices today are far and wide.

Don't worry! Finding the right day care provider need not
be an insurmountable task. References from friends are
still a great way to locate a reputable center. Local
newspaper classifieds will have ads run by small
family-type childcare providers. The internet provides
access to informative websites posted by larger
entrepreneurial day care providers which will have
information on their qualifications, licensing, pricing,
etc. Your local chapter of CCR&R (Child Care Resource and
Referral) is a free service that provides guidance by
phone, in person and on the internet to assist you in
locating a childcare provider, based on your zip code.

Once you determine what type of day care you need -
in-home, drop-in, part time or full time - there are
several guidelines to follow. We all know that a picture is
worth a thousand words, and in this case, a visit to the
prospective center is highly recommended. If possible, make
it a surprise visit. You'll see how they treat the
children, how discipline and cleanliness issues are handled
and how crowded the various areas are. Even a short visit
will give you a sense of how the center is run.

In addition to visiting the facility (or while you're
there), obtain references and find the answer to as many of
these questions as possible.

Qualifications:

Is the facility licensed? Is it up to date? Are the
Director and teachers qualified to run a day care facility?
Do they have bachelor's degrees in a child related field?
Have the teachers worked in child care for at least one
year? Has the Director worked in child care for at least
two years? What level of training or experience do the
aides have? Does the staff show a genuine love for children
or is this just a job?

Supervision:

Does the provider or center have enough supervision? Are
the children supervised even when they are sleeping? How
many caregivers are there at all times? Have the caregivers
had background checks? Is there a high turnover of teachers
and/or aides? What is your standard method of discipline?
What do you do if the discipline doesn't get the desired
result?

Schedules:

Is there a daily schedule of activities? Are there
structured activities as well as play time? Is there
scheduled nap time or quiet time for those who don't sleep?
How often are children taken to the bathroom? What kind of
foods and snacks are offered?

Inside Facilities:

Are the tables and chairs generally clean and not sticky?
Is there a bathroom available for older children to use to
wash their hands after toileting and before meals? Are the
diapering areas clean and the diapers disposed of in a
proper manner? Are the children up to date on their
immunizations and are these records available? Are toxic
materials locked away and poison information posted? Are
medications kept safely out of reach of the children?

Outside Facilities:

Are the playgrounds and play areas kept clean and in good
repair? Is the sandbox clean? Is the playground surrounded
by a fence? Are the toys age-appropriate?

Emergencies:

Is there an emergency plan in place if a child gets hurt or
lost? Is there a first aid kit on the premises? Does the
staff know CPR and first aid? Do they practice fire drills?
Is there a program in place for disasters such as
earthquake and/or tornado?

This list may seem excessive at first, but a visit to the
day care center or family home will tell you a lot about
the surroundings, and the answers you get to your questions
will tell you whether this is the place for your child.
Follow your instincts! A concerned parent must take care to
ensure the safety and well being of her child, even if it
means asking some uncomfortable questions of the day care
provider.

The Day Care Benefit
You've heard all the nasty rumors about day care. Too many
kids and too few caregivers. Lots of sneezing and wheezing.
That little guy who's always grabbing your child's toy.
Everyone's got a story. But you have to get back to work
and you have no choice. What's a good parent to do?

Let's concentrate on the positive. There are plenty of
benefits to sending your child to day care. If you consider
some of these benefits, it will help you come to terms with
your own decision, whether you have a choice or not. Once
you understand, you'll feel you're helping your child grow
into a well rounded, happy child instead of feeling guilty
about sticking him in day care.

Babies need interaction with other children. It's never too
early to start engaging your son in activities with other
children, whether his own age, toddlers or older children.
Learning to interact with other kids prepares your son for
his first real school experience. Day care is a gentler
environment, there are less rules and more flexibility than
strict teachers may impose in school.

Children benefit from day care by learning self-control,
how to get along with others, and how to share. They begin
to learn all about friendship. Without day care, your
daughter only knows you; you are her whole world. How scary
would it be to get into school at age four or five and find
out that Mom isn't there with her? Children benefit from
day care by expanding their world to include people other
than their parents.

Separation anxiety will be lessened (or not an issue at
all) when your child enters school if she's been in day
care. She's already used to being away from you for some
time during the day. She's learned how to make new friends
and can be content without your undivided attention. The
transition from home to school is far less difficult for
those who've experienced day care.

In addition to learning socialization skills, your son may
also have the opportunity to learn some of the basics such
as the alphabet and numbers, and he's always increasing his
vocabulary. This pre-preschool learning environment gives
your child an understanding of what will be expected of him
once he enters kindergarten. He learns to sit and listen,
and is able to accept the information that will be thrust
upon him in school. He learns the value of teamwork and to
respect the opinions and emotions of others. Entering
school for the first time is challenging for all children,
but those who have been in day care benefit by already
having exposure to a classroom-like environment.

Once your daughter enters school, day care can help with
homework. Some day care facilities even offer after-school
extracurricular activities like scout meetings, dance
class, martial arts and on-site gymnastics instruction.
Once she is in school her horizons begin to broaden.

As you can see, there are many benefits to placing your
child in a licensed, qualified day care situation. And
remember that even though your child is away from you for a
portion of his day, it is really the parents that make the
most difference in his life.

When he gets home from day care after spending a long day
away from you, he will be bursting to tell you all about
his day. Ask him questions about his friends, his teachers,
his subjects. He will share his day with you no matter what
his age is, and getting him to vividly describe his day is
exciting to a child especially if you show interest. Of
course you're interested, aren't you? After all, this
child, a mini version of yourself, is taking on the world
one day at a time, and the choices and desires he has will
be a direct reflection of you. Make the most of that
opportunity while you can - children are only children once.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Long before we were able to manage metal came the Stone Age. We
have been fascinated by stones ever since. We have used them as
tools. The first ones were just large rocks that were used to
bash things open for dinner.

Then, we realized there could be more to stone than the shape
it came in and started creating new item, like knives and other
tools for working. Somewhere along the way someone also figured
out the correct rocks to click together to start a fire.

Even thought times have changed, and we went through other
stages, like the Bronze Age, we are always drawn to stone.
Things made of stone connect us with our beginning, are from the
earth, and many want to have a part of that natural beauty that
Mother Nature has given. One way to do this is to add stone
knobs to your home.

Modern materials and manufacturing never seem to really measure
up to stone knobs. Just the cool feel of a stone knob against
your flesh, makes a door stand out. It has a much more
substantial and earthy feel than a brushed aluminum or other
more modern knob. Once you touch it your hand will notice the
difference of stone knobs. The organic feel will strike a cord
and may even make you stop and take a look at the creation.

There are quite a few styles of stone knobs that are available
on the market. Some of them have been completely tooled and
shaped to feel perfectly smooth and rounded like a molded door
knob. These stone knobs can be made out of a variety of stones,
but granite and other easy find stones are the most popular. You
can even find stone knobs that have been tooled out of marble,
but these can ding and scratch more over time. Yet, it almost
seems appropriate that the same stone that great artists like
Michelangelo used to create masterpieces can be turned into the
stone knobs in your home.

The next type of stone knobs are the designer knobs. They are
made of semi-precious and precious stones. Some of these knobs
mix metal and stone and are literally a masterpiece with designs
created out of the various gemstone pieces.

If you are working on a very rustic home theme, you need
something completely different. You need stone knobs that look
as if they were just picked up off the path by the creek. Lucky
for you, those are available. There are many specialty stone
knobs that really are made out of the stones that were found on
a creek bed. If you are going for a specific look, you can even
hunt for the natural stones that are from a particular region or
body of water.

Stone knobs are a connection with our cave men ancestors,
although they never went this far with their stone tools. They
were busy rolling large things in front of a door to block their
homes from intrusion. What if they had a knob, to make their
lives a little easier?

================== ARTICLE START ==================
The internet provides countless opportunities to find and
attract highly targeted visitors to your website. Article
marketing is a great example. The people who look for and read
your article are precisely those people who will want to visit
your website. Posting on forums is another great example. The
people reading your contributions are exactly those you're
trying to attract.

The underlying tactic behind all these strategies is to
demonstrate your expertise, directly in front of your target
market. Once you find out where your ideal customers are
spending their online time, figure out a way to put a small
demonstration of your expertise right in the middle of the
crowd. Then, when they see the value you bring, the odds of
them clicking through to your website go up dramatically.

One of the best ways to do this is to offer unsolicited
testimonials for products that have helped you along the way.
The people who need your expertise are those who are looking for
those same products. You're just a few steps in front of them,
that's all. So you can leave bits and pieces of your
accumulated expertise along the path, knowing everyone behind
you is looking for the knowledge you already possess.

Amazon has become a massive online retailer and their breadth
of products has grown dramatically since their early days. But
the majority of their sales still come from books and that
represents a tremendous opportunity. You can open an account
with Amazon and leave testimonials for books you've read. You
can describe your assessment of the book and how you used the
knowledge in your business.

Now think about this. Who's going to be reading your
testimonial? Well, the people who are considering buying that
book are the only ones who will come across your comments. And
those people are the exact people you're hoping to attract to
your website. Because you already know they're considering a
particular book, they become an ideal prospect to pull into your
own space.

There are also countless other products you've used to acquire
the knowledge you now have. Information products are probably
the most obvious example but other more traditional products
qualify as well. You can write a complimentary testimonial for
the product and request a backlink in exchange. Most providers
will be happy to oblige, leaving you with a perfectly positioned
link for your ideal customers to use.

The reverse strategy works well also. You can take one of your
own products and send it to people who have popular websites and
request they review your product and provide a testimonial. Not
only do you get an authoritative testimonial you can use in your
own marketing but you will often get a review or an affiliate
link on their high-traffic website. Both can help push targeted
traffic your way.

Unsolicited testimonials are a great way to get your expertise
listed beside the exact products your target market is looking
for. If you focus on this over a period of time, you can end up
with testimonials sprinkled all across the internet, like a big
fish net in the water. On their own, each individual
testimonial might deliver scant results but in aggregate, they
can provide an ongoing funnel catching people in the middle of
their activities and redirecting them to your website.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
What is E-Commerce? Basically put, E-Commerce are transactions
involving the transactions of products or services online and
can be divided into various categories; virtual shop fronts, B2B
(business to business) buying and selling and much more.

How could it improve my business? After you have built up your
website you can effectively make money in seconds.

Having an online shop or using ecommerce with your website
means you can accept money 24/7, even while you sleep.

You can accept a variety of payment options, PayPal, credit
cards, as well as the more conventional methods of checks and
money orders.

In short, ecommerce opens you to a plethora of new options
ultimately geared towards earning money. Impulse buyers are a
website shop owners dream, something which isn't so easily
achieved by those who accept only checks and money orders.

Those same impulse buyers that realize they can make purchases;
pay quickly and receive quickly because of your payment system
will very likely think about returning to purchase from you when
it's time to buy more of the same product.

What is a dedicated server? Most web hosts offer you web
hosting which is given from a shared server.

That is, a server that other paying customers also use, and
this can have its pitfalls which include traffic bottlenecking
and other important security issues.

Given that this same web host will be effectively helping you
deal with your money, maybe it isn't so wise a move to choose
hosting on a shared server.

A dedicated server however, is a completely different ballgame.
There are no other websites sharing the same server as you, so
no real security issues and no possibility of traffic issues,
that server is effectively "yours" for as long as you rent it;
completely dedicated to your business and you.

Why is it better to have one for ecommerce? As outlined briefly
above, e-commerce is a very security conscious based business.

It is the portal through which you handle the money you earn
from products/services you sell, so it's extremely important you
keep as "tight a ship" as possible, it's your money and you want
it to stay that way!

There are opportunistic people out there with less than the
normal share of morals, and they WILL stoop to underhand tactics
to compromise what is rightfully yours.

The only way you can be truly confident that your money,
business and reputation is completely safe is by relying on a
dedicated server, something that is there for you and you alone.

Dedicated servers also offer more storage space, more bandwidth
for data transfer and more software and script options.

A dedicated server is great for all of the reasons outlined
above, but there is a negative side to it too and this is the
cost.

It doesn't come cheap to have a server dedicated completely to
your needs, if you take a moment to consider that depending on
the provider, a shared server can accommodate up to 1000
accounts at one time, it needs to be worth their while to
dedicate a full one just for you.

However, prices are not "that" expensive. A cheap dedicated
server to start you off can cost less than $1000.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Affiliate marketing can be a very effective way to earn income
online without carrying inventory yourself, but you need to stay
on top of the latest developments in the industry to
successfully capitalize on your affiliate relationships. The
text links and banners that were once the mainstay of affiliate
marketers are giving way to more creative ways to generate
revenue. Affiliates are making use of blogs, social networks,
email lists, pay per clicks, search engine campaigns – every
kind of online marketing channel available – to get their
message out.

Joining the Game

If you're just coming into affiliate marketing, there's no
reason to feel overwhelmed by all the changes. There are
actually many simple options for getting started. The most
prevalent way may be to join a revenue sharing program, like
Amazon, where you refer a sale for a percent of the commission.
Or, if you have your own web site, you might use a program like
Google AdSense to run pay per click ads for products or services
that correspond to (but don't compete with) your own offerings.
Every time one of your customers click on an ad, you receive a
flat fee. Pay per lead is another popular model: you get paid
for every marketable lead you provide to a company.

Performance Marketing Developments

As affiliates increasingly utilize web services, data feeds,
and video, the industry is taking a huge step forward, a trend
sometimes referred to as affiliate 2.0. Like web 2.0, the new
industry focus is on employing user-generated content and
innovative marketing techniques.

"One of the biggest current trends in affiliate marketing is
mobile phone marketing," states Shawn Collins, co-founder of
http://AffiliateSummit.com. "Marketers are finding new ways to
monetize this channel." Some, for example, are sending text
messages to opt-in users. The texts provide useful information,
but also include sales links. As Collins points out, everyone
wins – consumers receive the tips or updates they want, and
marketers get the chance to promote their products and services.

Another rapidly growing affiliate trend is video marketing.
Numerous web services are popping up to meet the needs of
performance marketers. The following are just a few examples of
web sites that enable various methods of video advertising:

• Videos hosted by Revver or embedded by Revver users include
semi-transparent advertisements.

http://Magnify.net allows you to create a video channel with
integrated advertising from Google and Revver.

• YouTube offers a video unit through Google AdSense with
contextual ads built into it.

Putting It Into Practice

As you become comfortable advertising for others, you can
easily begin implementing some of these new promotional
techniques. Who your target market is will determine which
methods you'll have the most success with – talk to your
merchants, try different things, and find what works best for
you. Encourages Collins, "Merchants and affiliates are going to
continue finding inventive and original ways to market their
products with different user sites and tools. The limit to
affiliate marketing potential is really your own imagination."

================== ARTICLE START ==================
How often do you go to the gas pump and groan because the gas
prices are just putting a huge dent in your budget? If you're
shaking your head to this question, you're definitely not alone.
Over the past couple of years, you've probably realized that gas
prices have gone up and are always changing on a consistent
basis.

What if I told you that there was a way to save on gasoline
every time you filled up your tank? I know it sounds too good to
be true but it isn't! The easiest solution is gas rebate credit
cards. If you're sort of familiar with them or you've never
heard of them before, I'm going to explain to you how they can
save you a ton of cash in the long run. The only steps it takes
from you is for you to fill out a simple application and hit the
send button. It will cost you nothing and there's no gimmick or
scam involved.

Gas rebate credit cards are very similar to any credit card on
the market. They work just like one but they benefit you in the
gas sector. All gas credit cards are different because some may
only be used on gas while others can be used on any other type
of purchases. Once again, this will all depend on the credit
card company. When you're applying, it's your duty to read the
fine print to know exactly where they'll be accepted. Your best
bet to sign up for a card that gives you cash back at a
particular gas station, seeing these usually give you the best
cash back percentages.

Choosing the right gas rebate credit card can be tough at
times. The best way to choose the right credit card is to decide
whether you want a card that focuses on one gas station or a
credit card that focuses on any. Like I mentioned in the above
paragraph, you're going to want to probably focus on the
percentage you're going to get back. You'll find that most cards
that focus on one gas station will usually give you the best
introductory and long term rate. This will be all up to you.

Once you find that perfect credit card, simply fill out the
information noted on the application and wait for the status of
your application to come either via email or regular mail.
You'll find that every card is different in their approval
process. Some cards will approve you on the spot while others
may take a few days. If you don't hear from the credit card
company within a week or so, it's always best to call them up
and ask them for a status, most of the time you'll find that
they'll have an answer for you.

If you've read this and you're motivated to save on gas, start
your search today. Once the card arrives, start using it and
you'll see all the benefits start to roll in the long run!

Video Dating, the Best Way to Meet a New Partner
There are many people around today that have met the love
of their life through some online means. These are people
of modest means that were just looking to meet someone to
end the loneliness in them and indeed when you take a look
at all of the services that are available online and the
aggressiveness to which they are marketed, it seems only
natural that many of these people would go towards online
websites in order to help them facilitate the finding of a
particular date.

But is the typical online dating that people know about in
today's world, really the best use of the internet for the
purposes of bringing people together? It used to be and
indeed many of these online dating websites were the first
ones of their kind and therefore have thousands of grateful
people that have met and married because of what they do.
However, in video dating terms, one of the things that
people have come to the realization of is that there is a
much better way of doing things.

What video dating does is that it builds on the idea of
conventional dating services, but also uses an idea that is
very old, just put in a new way. This isn't the first time
that video has been used to boost the dating scene and
indeed video dating services are decades old. However, the
way it is done on the internet is quite different; the
technology is smaller and cheaper and the way that people
make and upload videos has gotten to the point of being
extremely well-known in today's society. People are no
longer surprised by videos of their friends and therefore
video dating is in a much healthier place and has a much
better chance of being a successful way to date online.

Slowly but surely, internet users that have tried and loved
video dating, are encouraging others via word-of-mouth to
join video dating sites and it will continue to get
stronger. You will see more and more people interested in
the concept of video dating and some of the online dating
websites have even incorporated video into their ultimate
design and this is perhaps the ultimate testament of how
useful a service video dating is.

You also don't have to worry about losing a lot of money
with video dating because it is relatively cheap and in
some cases free, so you don't really have much to lose. If
you don't like it, you simply remove yourself from the
service and don't pay anything (or pay anymore than you
already have). If you like it, then you stay on and
potentially meet the love of your life.

Video dating is certainly the way forward for adult dating
online and the true potential of this service has yet to be
realized.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Are you frustrated because you are making such slow progress in
learning to play the piano? Do you feel inept, incompetent,
uncoordinated or untalented because it takes so long to master
your favorite song?

Think of it:

When you can send an email to someone in Australia and receive
a reply within seconds, you may be tempted to think that
developing your keyboard skills should be a much faster process
than it is.

We live in the Information Age where you can get immediate
answers: "just Google it"; quick fixes: "download the update and
restart"; and instant gratification: "click here to listen to
five versions of your favorite song".

If you're like me, you're thrilled by many of the benefits of
living in the 21st century!

But what happens when you want to bake a cake, learn to drive
or build your dream house? Dr. Wayne Dyer puts it this way: "You
can't rush the growth of a tomato plant".

What I'm leading up to is this:

Growth takes time. In order to get the results you want as
quickly as possible, you need to follow a proven formula. When
you do, your keyboard success will be virtually guaranteed.

Here are the 12 ingredients that you can combine to create your
recipe for piano playing success.

Part I: External Ingredients-How to Prepare for Powerful Piano
Practicing

1. Place: Examine the place you practice to determine if it is
helping you to concentrate and stay focused. Be aware of any
distractions and eliminate them. Remember that the place you
practice can really propel your progress.

2. Schedule: Decide on the best times for practicing everyday.
Be sure to take into account your energy level, other
commitments and musical goals. When you set up and maintain a
consistent practice schedule that works for you, you'll get
faster and better results for your efforts.

3. Goals: Setting goals to learn a piece for your recital, to
memorize five songs or to remember how to play the songs your
learned in the past will help you to identify where you want to
go and by when. Identifying your goals will help you get your
piano playing from where it is now to where you want it to be

4. Priorities: Once you have set your goals, you need to
determine what material to practice and in what order.
Procrastination can easily paralyze your progress. So be sure to
start by figuring out what music is important to you so that you
will make the best use of your practice time. Setting your
priorities will help you achieve maximum results.

5. Organization: In order to use your practice time
effectively, you need to organize your music. This will not only
help to streamline the process of working on your pieces, but it
will also help you to keep your music arranged in order of its
importance for accomplishing your goals.

6. Inspiration: To stay motivated, listen to recordings, watch
DVDs of performers, read inspirational books and articles and
attend concerts and peer group soirées. When you do this often,
you will find yourself inspired to improve.

Part II: The Internal Ingredients-How to Approach Every Piece
of Music

7. Timing: Pay careful attention to rhythm when you practice.
You'll get far better results by playing slowly and evenly as
you learn and then picking up the speed as you gain confidence.
Also use your metronome to help this. You'll also be amazed at
the benefits of counting aloud.

8. Fingering: When you come to a difficult passage, take the
time to figure out the best finger pattern to use. If you don't
like what's printed in the music, write in your own. You'll then
be able to practice the part correctly, pick up the speed and
help your fingers to "memorize" the pattern.

9. Phrasing: You speak in phrases and sentences without even
thinking about it. The slurs, rests and breath marks (as well as
punctuation in the lyrics) are your guides to making your music
"speak intelligently". Pay attention to these and listen to how
much better you sound.

10. Articulation: There are many special marks that tell you
how to play each note. The staccato, marcato, tenuto and accent
symbols along with certain words give you very clear indications
of how to play each musical passage. Notice them; they're your
guides.

11. Dynamics: When you pay attention to the signs that tell you
whether to play loud, soft or somewhere in between, your music
will start coming to life. The reason why the actual name of the
piano is pianoforte is because this instrument can truly span
the range of musical volume that can help your playing to sound
super.

12. Expression: You probably fell asleep during a dull class in
school. Why? Chances are that your teacher did not speak with
much expression. Don't let this happen to your playing. One way
to increase your expressive style is to imagine that you are
playing a particular part of a piece with a non-keyboard
instrument. You will be astounded by the results you get.

Action Exercises

Here are three things you can do immediately to put these ideas
into action.

First, become a thinking pianist by using your mind to your
examine your practice spot, assess and plan your practice
schedule, identify your goals and set your priorities. Then
organize your music according to your goals and priorities and
build in regular time for inspirational activities.

Second, remember to pay attention to all of the directions
found in each piece of music: timing, fingering, phrasing,
articulation, dynamics and expression. These are your guides for
bringing your music to life. Always take the time to read the
menu and take advantage of what if has to offer.

Third, combine these 12 ingredients into your recipe for
success. Do this continuously and make it your new keyboard
success habit.

Start today. You'll astonish yourself by how fast your piano
playing will sound fantastic!

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Interesting question, and you may be wondering if the subprime
housing mess may be affecting you. It you don't understand what
this means, well let me give you some information to increase
your knowledge on this subject.

For the most part subprime lending is also known as second
chance or b-paper lending. Subprime loans are loans made to
consumers who do not have the best credit and would probably pay
a higher interest rate du to their not so stellar credit. These
type of loans are both risky to borrowers and lenders because of
poor credit history, high interest rates and other financial
factors. Subprime loans are commonly utilized for home loans,
car loans, credit cards and personal loans. In addition,
subprime loans typically carry higher interest rates than prime
A-loans for borrowers with good credit.

Subprime loans became more popular in the last few years due to
the appreciation of homes, availability of more flexible
adjustable rate mortgages and less rigid lending standards. The
increase in appreciation created more equity in homes. This in
turn allowed lenders to become more flexible in the loans
granted to borrowers with less attractive credit via subprime
lending. It is noted that this also created relaxed standards by
the lender in checking a person's credit history, income and
requiring a down payment. In many instances, a consumer with
poor credit was able to secure a home with no verification of
income and no down payment required.

Adjustable rate mortgages are one of the major factors involved
in the subprime mess. The adjustable rate mortgages consist of a
variable rate that is linked to the current interest rates.
These particular loans have been heavily used by lenders in the
subprime market as alternatives to fixed rate mortgages. Lenders
offered low introductory adjustable rates to attract more
borrowers. By doing this, many people purchased homes with these
type of loans.

You're probably wondering, what happened to make borrowers end
up not being able to make their mortgage payments? Well, what
happened is that the federal funds rate went from one percent in
2003 and was dramatically increased to 5.5 percent. This
increase in the funds interest rate was significant for the
subprime housing problem because over a three year period it
left many borrowers with mortgage payments that increased
dramatically. This has created major problems for borrowers
being able to continue making their mortgage payments. Some
borrowers mortgage payments have increased as much as fifty
percent or more from their initial mortgage payment. As an
update, there is good news for some borrowers, the federal funds
rate was just recently reduced in late January 2008 to three
percent. The reduction of the federal funds rate may help some
borrowers with the amount they will pay for their adjustable
rate mortgages.

A significant problem with the interest only or adjustable rate
mortgage loans that homeowners are currently facing in unison
with their high mortgage payments is the fact that most lenders
are not willing to work out an arrangement or compromise with
the borrower to reduce their payment. It is noted that most of
the adjustable rate mortgage and interest only loans were
packaged and sold as a security for investors. The packaged
mortgage loan security usually contains a clause restricting
working out a compromise arrangement with the borrower. Hence
the majority of adjustable rate mortgages and no interest loans
renewed in late 2007 and set to renew in 2008 may result in
numerous foreclosures for homeowners.

So does all of this information provided in this article affect
you? If it does, you may want to consider contacting your lender
or mortgage loan servicer to see if they would be willing to
assist you with reducing your mortgage payment by getting you
into a fixed rate mortgage loan you can afford. You can also
contact Hope Now which is an alliance of mortgage counselors,
servicers, investors and other market participants. Hope Now is
an organization that reaches out to homeowners who are facing
foreclosure and who need assistance in trying to remain in their
homes. To obtain information concerning approved mortgage
counselors or to discuss your particular mortgage problem, you
may want to consider contacting the Hope Now hotline at

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Are target demographics important in online business?

In brick and mortar stores there is often an incredible push to
remain relevant to a specific age group and market the business
to that demographic. This has a bearing on the products offered,
the décor of the store, the type of bags they place your
purchase in and certainly in advertising and event sponsorships.

By association does that mean the same is true regarding online
business? Should online business cater to a specific generation?
If not, why not?

Online business may indeed have a target demographic. They may
know who the primary consumers of their product will be.
However, that may not mean that they actively seek advertising
opportunities that may appeal only to that demographic.

In online advertising, particular Pay Per Click (PPC)
advertising, the goal is to connect with keywords and not
demographics. In essence if an individual of any age is looking
for Italian gloves and your site is dedicated to the sale of
these gloves then you may find individuals of all ages finding
an advertising path to your cyber store portal if this is the
product they are looking for.

Many sites are intentionally keeping a distance from a
generation specific look in an effort to make all consumers feel
more at home with their site. The website may use language that
may appeal to a specific age range, but they will even deal with
this issue in moderation so the customer does not feel as if the
product is only for someone of a different age group.

One of the primary differences in online business verses a
brick and mortar counterpart is that the online store can afford
to be much more niche oriented. If they wish to specialize only
in model railroad merchandise they will likely find individuals
of all ages dropping by the website to see what items may be
available. This could include a grandpa who needs replacement
parts for a train set he's had for decades or a beginner looking
for a first engine.

You see the very specific nature of many websites moves it away
from the need to target a specific demographic.

Let me be clear, I think most online businesses should know who
their primary target will be, but they don't need to push that
age group more than any other in their online environment.

The differences between online and traditional marketing are
many, but there are some similarities as well. The growth of
online business is a testament to the ability of scores of
entrepreneurs to mesh the best in traditional marketing with the
new skills in online marketing.

The combination of skills can be helpful as long as you
approach online marketing as requiring something unique. It can
very easy to assume that `the ways it's always been done' is
going to work online. The problem is the environment is
different and the dynamics are global in scope and niche in
presentation.

Learning the skills of online marketing will be more helpful to
you than seeking to target a specific demographic online.
Learning the distinctives in online marketing will improve the
possibility of business success.

All schools need talented, motivated and inspiring teachers.
Without them, students would be hard-pressed to meet the
ever-changing standards set forth by local, state, and federal
education officials. For those who wish to work in the
classrooms of Boston Schools, support and training awaits.

All types of teachers must have appropriate, effective training
in order to be successful. New recruits, experienced
professionals, and teachers who are staying in the classroom but
changing fields are all in need of support. Boston Schools
leaders have recognized this necessity, and are working on the
implementation of a plan to make sure the teachers get what they
need.

New Boston Schools Teachers

For the new Boston Schools teacher, it is imperative to set-up
a blanket of support. Think about it, they've just gotten out of
college where they've probably received a good education, but
one that is mostly theory. Mentoring these new educators will
help them realize their goals and help them implement their
philosophies. The new Boston Schools' teacher should never be
handed a key to the classroom and a grade book with the words,
"Good Luck!"

Too often, this is exactly what happens, and guess what? They
don't usually stick around very long. Sometimes, new teachers
don't come straight from college, but straight from the board
room. Many, many professionals eventually turn to teaching as a
way to feel like they are contributing to the greater good.
These folks, too, need lots of support of their passion for
becoming teachers. They need quality training (and quickly) so
that they are prepared to jump right in and begin teaching their
Boston Schools students.

Experienced Boston School Teachers

Experienced teachers also are in need of ongoing training.
Whether through teacher inservices or access to higher degree
programs, it is the responsibility of Boston Schools to make
sure the teachers are getting what they need. A variety of
seminars and workshops are offered through the Boston Schools'
district throughout the school year, and are available to
teachers on "inservice" days when students have the day off.
Inservice meetings are free to Boston Schools teachers and only
require an investment of time. In addition, Boston Schools may
offer tuition for teachers to get their Master's Degrees at
little or no cost. Some colleges also offer free tuition in
exchange for the teacher taking on a student intern.

Boston Schools' Teachers who wish to change their field of
expertise – a middle school math teacher who wants to teach 3rd
grade, for example – must not only change their certification,
but take the classes and training required by the state to do
so. Some school systems even offer cash incentives to get
teachers in the high-need fields of math and science. For the
most part, training of this sort can be had through Boston
Schools' professional development offices.

It is important to realize that Boston Schools are not only
responsible for educating students; they are also responsible
for educating the teachers. Without continuing professional
development through mentoring, inservice days, and help with
college tuition, teachers would not be able to acquire the
educations they need.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
You've got an Internet business and you're ready to be
successful. Here are some Internet marketing secrets to help get
your site noticed and sell your product.

Use proper keywords. When listing your site with web crawlers
be sure to use the best keywords for your product or service. If
you are unsure about how to set up keywords you may want to hire
an experienced Internet marketing company to help you. Keywords
are the ways your site will be listed in search engines so don't
skip this important step.

Design a professional looking web site. People are more apt to
buy from companies that look the most professional. If your
website is sloppy or doesn't function well it's doomed. Hire a
professional web designer to ensure that the website looks good.
Keep the pages and navigation simple and don't use too many
graphics, which can be too slow for some connections.

Always place purchase or buy now buttons on the pages of your
web site so they are easily accessed. It's amazing how often you
will come across a web site that makes you hunt for buying
information. With so much Internet competition just a click away
always ensures that the customer can make a purchase if they
want to.

Include easy access to company information on your web
site.Even if your business doesn't have a physical location you
should have a toll free number where customers can easily reach
you. Post this number on your web site.

Use competitive pricing. Remember to continuously monitor the
competition to be sure that your pricing is not too high (or too
low).

Give buyers a special incentive by adding a bonus product onto
the deal for free. This gives the customer more reason to buy
from you and gives them an additional product.

Use give-aways to get your name out there. For example you
could offer a free pen or mouse pad (or any other item) to each
person who signs up on your site. Of course the item will be
personalized with your company logo and information.

Use pay per click (PPC) or sponsored advertising to gain more
exposure. This type of marketing strategy is often very
successful and won't drain your advertising budget.

Use articles to get your company name recognized. Articles are
a great way to use free marketing. List articles that are
related to your business on article submission sites. You can
include your web address at the end of the article so people who
read the article can find your site.

Offer free articles or ebooks on your site for your customers.
Change your content often so that people will want to come back
to get more information.

Subscribe to a newsletter. New tips and tricks are constantly
being found to make Internet marketing successful. Get the
latest tips and trends sent right to your inbox.

Use lists to set up specialized marketing emails. Collect
information from users who visit your site. These visitors have
already shown an interest in your product or service so it may
pay to send them additional marketing bulletins.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
One of the largest expenses when starting a business can be
advertising and marketing to bring in customers. This can seem a
daunting expense for those who are newbie's to the online
business arena, and are trying to start a business on a budget.
It doesn't have to be that way! There are many ways to advertise
your business without spending a dime; here are the top 3 free
advertising and marketing ideas for an online business.

1.Write articles about your topic of interest. This is the
number one way I drive traffic to Women on the Net and my other
sites. In fact, the article you are reading right now will send
me thousands of visitors over time. It's not hard to write a how
to article about your chosen topic. You just need to be
conversational in your language. Act like you are explaining the
solution to a friend's problem, and write it just that way. Now
find sites that might be interested in your information, and
write the editor asking if they would like to reprint the
article for free, in exchange for a live link and short bio of
you and your site at the end of the article. Also submit your
articles to article banks to allow other publishers to access
and reprint your articles, for the same bio and live link. My
favorite article banks are Ezinearticles.com and
IdeaMarketers.com, although there are many. Make sure you add
new articles every week, and your site will also get the added
benefit of receiving more traffic from search engines.

2.Exchange ads with other list owners. There are many websites
with newsletter lists who are in the same boat you are...no
money for advertising! Don't be afraid to offer an exchange of
advertising to help each other out. Obviously you don't want to
choose a close competitor. But think outside the box a little. I
have traded ads for my decorating site with sites for stay at
home moms with great results. Not a home and garden competitor,
but still has a target market that works for me as well.

3.Find popular forums and message boards in your area of
expertise, and participate! Answer questions, join in
conversations, and be SURE you have a signature line below your
name after every post, with a link to your site and a one line
description of what you do. For instance, my sig line for home
decorating forums might look like:

Kathy Wilson
"Home Decorating with Creativity, Not Cash!"
www.TheBudgetDecorator.com

That's it, just a subtle sig line. People will start to quickly
recognize you as a helpful expert and will visit your site to
see what you offer. The one thing you DO NOT want to do is
actively promote your site within your message. If people ask
you about it, suggest they email you off list. Most forums have
rules against promoting your own site, and it's just annoying.
However, sig lines are almost always allowed. In addition, you
might make some friends or network with some associates in the
subject area you love! A real plus for those of us who work at
home all day, and are somewhat isolated.

Three easy ways to get free advertising for online businesses!
A little effort and you can have a steady stream of traffic
coming to your website, for no money at all!

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Movie tourism has been growing in popularity for decades and
the USA is a prime destination as so many global cinematic
blockbusters are made there. Movies have the power to bring
characters from the past alive again in glorious Technicolor and
this rekindles interest in the places and people.

Following the release of the `Assassination of Jesse James by
the Coward Robert Ford', starring Brad Pitt, interest in the
iconic outlaw has reached a new high. If you have a yen to learn
more about Jesse James, after seeing the movie, and to sort out
some of the fact from the fiction that has grown around his life
and times, visit Missouri and follow in the footsteps of this
infamous gunslinger, who later died by the hand of an associate.
Most sites are located within 50 miles of Kansas City.

Not withstanding that the movie was shot in Alberta, Canada,
James hailed from Kearney, Missouri. His notoriety began in
February 1866, when he and his gang, which included his brother
Frank, stole $60,000 from a bank in the town of Liberty.

Today the same building houses the Jesse James Bank Museum –
here you can see period furnishings, look into the original bank
vault, and read an account of that fateful day's action. For 15
years the James gang traveled throughout the U.S. robbing trains
and banks.

At the Jesse James Farm and Museum, in Kearney, you can visit
his old home. An audio-visual presentation recaps the exploits
of Jesse James and his gang of outlaws, and there is a large
collection James family artifacts on display, including Jesse's
boots and spurs. His original burial place is also at the farm.
Near the farmhouse is the childhood swimming hole where Jesse
and brother Frank spent many a hot day. Mount Olivet Cemetery,
also in Kearney, is James' final resting place, after his
remains were moved there in 1902, to lie beside those of his
wife Zerelda.

Winston's Historic Depot Museum, once home to the Chicago, Rock
Island and Pacific Railroad Depot, is where the Jessie James
gang's Great Train Robbery took place in 1881. The displays
relate railroad and local history, as well as James gang lore.

Finally, at Independence, Missouri is the two-story Jail,
Marshal's Home And Museum, dating from 1859. Jesse James'
brother, Frank, spent time here, and in fact was acquitted by a
sympathetic jury when tried for bank and train robbery.

The Patee House Museum in St. Joseph, was once known as World's
Hotel, a luxury hotel that served travellers as the railroad
pushed westward to St. Joseph and the starting point of the Pony
Express. Today, the extensive museum has an 1854 Buffalo Salon,
and exhibits of western art, antique toys, and other western
memorabilia.

You should also visit the nearby Jesse James Museum Home, where
the outlaw was shot and killed by Robert Ford in 1882.
Interesting displays include mementos from Jesse's grave when he
was exhumed in 1995, and a bullet hole in the wall reputed to be
from an unsuccessful attempt on his life.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
I'm writing this article from the land of sharp-shooters and
high rollers.

It's the place where people go for a splash of flash and to
live out their dreams of glamour and luxury.

Las Vegas!

Attending the Internet Marketing Super Conference, one of my
clients has reminded me of an important Law of Attraction secret
that I want to pass on to you.

You see, he's aware that the Law of Attraction magnetized him
toward me so I could help him realize his dreams.

Terry works HARD for his paychecks:

Like so many people do.

TOO Hard.

Terry knows that - which is why he "allowed" the Law of
Attraction to move him more into my world, or my sphere of
being.

I wish so many more people would "allow" themselves to be moved
toward success.

We do, but then something happens...something changes..we allow
something to regain control of our thoughts, our feelings, and
our actions:

FEAR and DOUBT!

Fear and doubt are why you don't quickly and easily move toward
massive success.

Example:

"I didn't hear back from Keith for several hours. He must be a
con artist and trying to rip me off."

Listen up because understanding this Law of Attraction Secret
is going to help move you forward in a BIG way:

You're probably having some success in recognizing the Law of
Attraction working in your life. You may even be able at this
point to make certain very positive choices and decisions about
your life.

I can feel that many people reading this ARE working with the
Law of Attraction.

That's just AWESOME. You are amazingly special to be able to do
that.

AND..

The next level is to commit to and practice doing this:

"Allow the Law of Attraction to continue moving you toward your
dreams. Don't pull up short because of those fears and doubts
that nag at you."

Focus on the prize and on nothing else.

Please read that again.

Focus on the prize and on nothing else.

There isn't any place for doubt to remain in your heart when
you commit to looking only at Limitless Wealth and Success.

What you focus on EXPANDS. Why does it expand? Well through
focus and attention we each have the power to give shape and
life. That in turn ATTRACTS the people, situations and outcomes
that match up in VIBRATION.

Do you 'see' what I'm saying here?

If you focus on fear and doubt, it's a natural law that you
will start drawing to you outcomes that support living a life of
fear and doubt.

Here's the powerful flipside though: if you continue to focus
on 'Limitless Wealth and Success', that is exactly what you will
have in your life!

Keep your attention on higher vibrations and you're certain to
see countless miracles take place in your life. But remember:
seek BALANCE! Because if you completely replace fear and doubt
with `Limitless Wealth and Success' but manage to slip into a
state of cockiness, selfishness or arrogance, you certainly will
see all your success quickly disappear before your eyes.

It's not about the material objects you gain as much as it is
about the person you become.

I know that you are capable of atracting special things into
your life. So let's do it!

To all the nurses out there who love nursing and traveling: did
you know that you can combine both of your loves in a career as
a traveling nurse? The field of travel nursing has several
benefits over other areas of nursing. Let's look at some of the
outstanding benefits you'll enjoy in a career as a traveling
nurse.

One of these benefits includes travel around the country
working at jobs that can last anywhere from just a few weeks to
as long as a year. Although many would not necessarily consider
it a benefit because it is a part of the job, to many others it
is a major benefit. A job as a traveling nurse allows you to
work in many new areas. Often times these are areas that you
might not normally consider for a vacation, but they are often
in some of the most beautiful parts of the country. You can see
many places across the United States as you work and you'll have
plenty of time to take in all the sites.

Most travel nurse agencies offer a wide variety of benefits to
nurses. Traveling nurses are some of the best-paid nurses in the
country. Usually, the pay ranges from $21 to $48 an hour. This
will vary based on your level of experience in your field as
well as the location of the assignment. Some areas of the
country will pay much better than others. Some agencies offer a
number of bonuses, including sign on and completion bonuses.
Some even offer bonuses when you renew your contract for at
least 13 weeks. Loyalty bonuses sometimes offered include
monetary rewards, upgrades in housing and paid vacations. Most
agencies will also provide referral bonuses for any nurse
completing a full assignment that you have referred.

Another major benefit often included when you sign on to travel
with an agency is wonderful health benefits. Most agencies
furnish fully paid medical insurance for you with the option to
add your family at a reasonable expense. Also, often included
with your benefits package, are vision and dental insurance,
life insurance, long- and short-term disability and accident
coverage. Exact benefits will vary from agency to agency, so it
is important to investigate what is offered by each company that
you speak with.

Many companies will furnish retirement plans, such as a 401K
plan usually available after just one month of service. Roadside
assistance packages, such as AAA, are frequently provided.
Continuing education is often provided at no cost to you and
some agencies will reimburse continuing education.

Travel nursing is not the perfect opportunity for everyone, so
you must consider the pros and cons carefully. It is also
important to investigate any agency that you are considering
signing up with. Ask the agency you are considering to speak
with some of the traveling nurses who are already a part of
their company. A thorough search of the internet to see what
others say about the agency can also turn up some interesting
information.

There is such a high demand for nurses who are able, and
willing, to travel for their jobs today. The benefits, rewards
and bonuses available to those who decide to become a traveling
nurse seem endless. Travel nursing could be just the shot in
the arm your career needs if you are becoming tired of the same
thing day after day, year after year. It could just be the
change you are looking for.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
With the popularity of flipping houses, it's natural that there
would be a virtual version of this. It is called flipping
websites. In this case the easiest form of this is to create a
five page website with unique content and then resell it.

Writing five pages of articles is not as daunting as it sounds.
Each page can be between two hundred fifty to five hundred words
in length. You can for instance create a website around the
topic of Vacationing in Miami. One page can talk about
restaurants in the Miami area and compare a few. The second page
can discuss fun day trips including the zoo, lion safari,
swimming with dolphins and where to rent a boat. The third page
can be an article about places to shop in Miami and where to
find discounts. The fourth page could explore various hotels in
the area and rate them. Finally the fifth page can be fun page
talking about celebrities with a home in Miami.

If you know nothing about web design, you might feel
intimidated about the prospect of how to convert this
information into a website. Fortunately today there are easy
applications that are push button and you do not have to know
html or coding to do this. They even come with pretty pictures
to put at the top of each page you can add just by clicking and
pointing. The previous impediment to create websites by having
to know coding, programming and related skills is now overcome.

What do you do after you have your website finished? You have
the choice of marketing it as-is to a new owner. The advantage
of this is you can get cash right away. The disadvantage of this
is that you'll have no traffic yet from search engines or any
proof to show the new owner of it's popularity. It can be more
lucrative instead to let it sit for a month while you help it
grow it's visitors. How do you do that? There are several ways
but I will just put in some free marketing tips below.

You can write a few articles that get passed around the net on
topics such as fun things to do in South Florida or where to
find cheap hotels that you distribute . It is good to write new
information than what you have posted on your website. Another
way to get traffic to your site is to look for other related
sites and exchange links. In this case you can find other sites
about Miami or forums where people discuss traveling. Once your
site gets in the major search engines it can bring in a higher
price .

However if you are more interested in quick cash rather than
waiting for the site to grow in price, you can sell it as soon
as it's created as many people enjoy the marketing part and have
skills to develop back links to the new site .

You can sell it on buy sell sections of forums, auction
websites or ask a newsletter owner to mention it in his
newsletter and you'll split the amount. After writing a little
bit you may be able to make one to two sites a day which can be
a very nice flip cash business. The beauty of this is there is
no customer support and you just create and resell sites.

By writing original articles or buying private label rights
articles (plr) that you modify, you can create a site that will
have value and a future owner will appreciate as a time saver.
There are many places to find pre-written articles sold to a
small amount of people that can then be re-written easily and be
your uniquely. You can also experiment and keep a site or two
you make to see how it does in terms of revenue after you add
links to affiliate products you can earn a commission on.
