Beating the Stock Market

Many people dream about beating the market through their stock
investments. However, is this really worth the effort and is it
really possible?

Many have attempted to beat the stock market and only a few have
managed. Some pundits have gone a step further to claim systems
that guarantee this. Nevertheless, beating the market may not be
the best goal that you can set for your stocks. The reason for
this is that there are a number of other considerations that
should be made.

People are generally unclear about the meaning behind the word
"market", which leads to its different definitions. Different
indexes are used when referred to the stock market one of them
being the S&P 500. However, this index fails to objectively
present all of the stock sizes.

Beating the market requires the undertaking of various stock
deals that enjoy short term benefits. Some experts recommend that
you purchase companies that have high customer satisfaction
attached to them. There is logic behind this argument, because
when clients are satisfied with the product or service of a
particular company they use it and become loyal to the company.
As a result, the returns increase as well as the popularity among
investors. The price of the stock of the company will be also
influenced in an upward direction. If you have managed to invest
in the company while its price was still low, congratulations you
have managed to beat the market.

If you fail to walk away of the stock market when the right time
has come you may put your money at risk. And what actually
happens is that instead you beat the stock market you are beaten
by it.

Beating the market requires you to know when is the right time to
enter it and when to exit it. You should learn its indications
and not only notice them, but also understand the signals that
they send to you.

No matter how good you may be at such things, you should consider
whether it is worth risking your money for such a goal. Beating
the market may reward you very well, but you should never forget
that its punishment can be even higher. Winning several hundred
dollars from the stock market today may result in their loss
tomorrow. Because, even if you have done it once, beating the
stock market twice cannot be guaranteed for sure. No matter what
formulas the pundits have offered and techniques applied, it is a
game in which only a few have succeeded.

Have You Been Told Your Business Is High Risk?
Copyright (c) 2005-2008 Scott Burke

Finding a bank or credit card processing company that will
process credit cards for high risk businesses can be challenging.

As a business owner you may have already been told that your
business is high risk or worse yet you may have had your merchant

account shut down or cancelled. It's common practice for banks
and credit card processors to close accounts that are deemed
"high risk".

Most high risk businesses don't realize they are considered high

risk until they contact a bank or credit card processor. If you

own or are thinking about opening a business you may run into
difficulties qualifying for a merchant account. This can be a
huge problem for a small business owner. Without accepting
credit cards most businesses are doomed.

A merchant account is basically an account that allows you to
accept credit cards from your customers and deposits those funds

directly into your account. One of the biggest problems a
business owner faces is the application requirements. Most banks

and some credit card processors will not even accept applications

from businesses that are deemed high risk. So how do you know if

your business would be considered high risk? Listed below are
businesses that would definitely be considered high risk
merchants:

* Airline and Jet Charter
* Cruise line/ Tour operators/ Travel Clubs
* Infomercials
* Aggregators (3rd party payment processors)
* Timeshares
* Credit Repair
* Collection Companies
* Lotteries/ Gambling/ Sweepstakes
* Sports Forecasting
* Internet Pharmacies
* Internet Tobacco
* Adult businesses/ Escort Services/ Dating Services/
Pornographic
Material
* Drug Paraphernalia
* Vitamin and Supplements

The credit card processing business as a whole is very
competitive. However, high risk merchant accounts are very hard
to find and can be very costly to get. The problem with some
offshore banks or credit card processors are the fees associated

with submitting an application. It's not uncommon to see a
credit
card processor charge $2500.00 just to submit an application with

no guaranty that the account will be approved. Others may want a

security deposit equal to your monthly credit card volume paid in

advance.

This is one reason why you should look for a credit card
processor that understands your business, your needs, your
problems, and is willing to devote the time to helping you. There

are very few high risk merchant account companies. Finding the
right credit card processing company to work with is essential to

your long term business success.

There are credit card processing companies that specialize in
placing high risk merchants. So how do you go about finding
those companies?

Today's technology provides us the opportunity to do business
with companies beyond our own neighborhoods. We do business
electronically through the use of e-mail, fax machines, and of
course the internet. What this means for the business owner is,
you no longer are "locked in" to doing business with just the
bank or company in your home town. You can "shop online" for
the
best rates, best products, and service. You can now do business
with a credit card processor or bank in Great Britain, Canada,
Philippines, or any place else just as easily as the "hometown
bank". Fact is, nine times out of ten, you will find the level
of
service to be much better with a bank or credit card processor
half way around the world. Why? They want your business, and are

willing to go the extra mile to prove it.

The Morality of Paid Links and Google's 'Intent Algorithm'
Copyright (c) 2006-2008 Bill Platt
Links And Traffic
http://www.LinksAndTraffic.com

It is Google's fault actually. No one can be blamed for this
matter more than Google itself.

Google came up with a brilliant plan for determining the best web
pages to show in their search engine results. And then without
telling us the intimate details of their plan, they told us about
part of their algorithm by explaining the importance of inbound
links --- the Google PageRank (PR) system --- in their
calculations.

Google itself planted the seeds its own future headaches. Nobody
did it to them; they did it themselves.

I am sure the fault really lies in Google's marketing
department. They wanted to tell the world what made their search
engine algorithms more powerful than the competition. It probably
was an innocent mistake on their part. But once the genie is out
of the bottle, it is impossible to put the genie back in the
bottle.

So, now the whole world knows that if you want to get good search
rankings in Google, you must have links pointing to your website
from other websites on the internet. Everyone also knows that if
you want better search rankings in Google, then you should strive
to create even more links with the appropriate keywords in the
anchor text of those links.

Building Links

There is always more than one way to skin a cat. There are many
methods that people can employ to build links to their websites.

1. Register free websites so that you can create inbound links
back to your own site.

2. Register new domains where you can place other links back to
your website.

3. Leave comments on blogs.

4. Link Exchanges.

5. Getting your own listing in any of the directories that are
available (dmoz.org, yahoo.com, etc.).

6. Signature File - getting involved in discussion forums and
actually adding value to the discussions.

7. Submit product and service testimonials to those product
distributors and service providers.

8. Social Networking - bookmark web pages through social
bookmarking sites.

9. Link Baiting - creating a resource that people will want to
link to for the benefit of their website visitors.

10. Article Marketing - writing an article and giving webmasters
the opportunity to use your content on their website, IF they
agree to post your link on the page with the article that they
are using.

11. Press Releases - writing and distributing press releases
online.

12. Buy advertising on a website.

13. Buy Link Placements on a website.

Good Links Versus Bad Links

I have always focused my attention on practicing White Hat Search
Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques, instead of Black Hat SEO
techniques.

Most of you know what I am talking about, but I have been
surprised a number of times when people did not understand what
was meant by "white hat" and "black hat." So, for those of you
who do not know what I am talking about, here is a brief
description. "White hat" and "black hat" are references to the
old serial cowboy westerns. The good guys always wore "white
hats," and the bad guys always wore "black hats."

By far, the link building techniques I employ most often are
article marketing, press releases, and link baiting. I still
frequently participate in forums and buy advertisements on other
websites, but I do those for public exposure and not for search
marketing.

A Black-and-White Issue

I have always been extremely concerned with White Hat techniques
for building links to my websites and from my websites.

"Providing good quality content as the foundation for my linking
activities" has always been my golden rule. And, it still is that
main driving force behind everything that I do.

I like a black-and-white world where everything makes sense, and
I had no reservations about my thoughts on this topic.

The Morality of Paid Links

A couple weeks ago, I was reading Matt Cutt's thoughts about
paid links on his blog. Most folks in internet marketing know who
Matt Cutt's is, but if you don't, he is a software engineer
that works behind the scenes with Google in their quality
department.

Generally, if Matt Cutts says anything at all about improving
your rankings in Google, you can take his words to the bank.

Now, Matt has made it more than clear that we do not want to buy
"paid links" to our websites as part of our link building
campaigns. Paid links are a big no-no according to Matt. That is
his advice, and I have always trusted it at face value.

That is why I have focused my entire link building activities
towards "content-driven linking."

I was reading a discussion of paid links in Matt Cutts' blog at:
http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/text-links-and-pagerank/

After I read Matt's thoughts, I continued reading the comments
on the page. Many good points were made and responded to by Matt.
It was an interesting read.

And then, my black-and-white world was turned upside-down when I
read the comments presented by Dan Thies of SEO Research Labs at:
http://www.seoresearchlabs.com/

Here is what Dan said:

Search engines are free to develop their algorithms as they
see fit. They're free to decide which links they want to trust.
Maybe I'm the heretic here, but I don't see anything wrong with
Google identifying sites that are selling text links, and dealing
with that however they like.

I just hope Matt and his co-workers aren't expecting this to
solve their problem. He's already seen that people are looking
for better ways to game the system. I hope Matt and his
co-workers don't seriously expect the entire web to start
labeling paid links for them.

The Google ideal may be that "the best links are earned and
given by choice," but what does that mean?

If I add text links to my favorite florist, favorite online
casino, favorite unlicensed pharmacy, favorite travel site, etc.
will Google decide that my site isn't worthy to participate in
developing their "democratic" search results? If I "vote" for
George Bush or Michael Moore as a miserable failure, am I no
longer qualified to vote?

What's the algorithm for determining intent, Matt?

Intent Is Abstract and Important At The Same Time

There is the rub. How can Google know the heart of the webmaster?
They can't, unless the webmaster pointedly describes their
intent.

If the webmaster calls those links "paid links" or "sponsored
links," then Google can know that webmaster accepted money to
provide those links.

If I buy advertising on a website, to attract potential buyers to
my website, how does Google know my intent? Did I do it to get
traffic from that website, or did I do it to game the Google
results? They cannot know my heart.

Even if the webmaster does not call the shown links "paid links"
or "sponsored links," does the suspicion of the pay-for-placement
model label the webmaster as a "bad egg?" How does Google really
know if Dan is linking to a site because he wants to, or whether
he has accepted payment for that link? They cannot know.

And the final example on this topic comes from a poster named
Shelley who participated in the discussion at:
http://weblog.philringnalda.com/2005/08/19/

Shelley stated that she allowed two "paid links" on her
well-respected blog, because she had a car payment to make. She
traded on her brand name to get enough cash to make the car
payment in tight times. Will she be penalized for selling "link
space" to advertisers on her website?

In Conclusion...

Based on the comments that I have read from Matt, Shelley should
not be worried about her acceptance of "paid links" on her
website. If I have interpreted his comments correctly, her site
will not be hurt by her outbound links.

However, we are meant to believe that if you and I were to buy
links on her page, then we should be concerned about our future
in connection to the Google search results.

So these questions remain for the search companies to figure
out...

Webmaster's Intent:

1 Which links are paid links, and which links are freely given
links?

2 Who is selling links to pass on their PageRank value, and who
is providing a useful or valuable link for their visitors?

Link Buyer's Intent:

1. Who is trying to game the Google results, and who is trying to
attract buyers to their website?

2. Who should be treated as a spammer, and who should be treated
as an honest performer?

This last question is the tricky one. We all know a spammer's
website when we see a spammer's website. But, how can the search
engines deal with the spammer's, without damaging the innocent
in their quest for search results perfection?

Yes, that is their problem, not mine. But, if Google's paid
links policy hurts my own placement in the search engines, then
the paid links equation becomes my problem too.

More Questions Than Answers...

Yes, it is true. I have posed more questions than what I have
presented answers. But sometimes, the questions are more
important than the answers. This is one such case.

Don't Play Poker With Your Sales: Boost Sales With Flowers
Copyright (c) 2006-2008 Wesley Berry, AAF

Sometimes getting your items to sell seems like an awful gamble.
You may even feel like you're involved in a daily poker game
where you're literally betting your livelihood on getting your
customers to open their wallets and purchase your goods.

USA Today recently offered some great tips for helping your sales
to flourish. Among those tips are:

* Signature Scents: Have you ever heard that the smell of
freshly baked cookies can help your home sell faster? Well,
certain scents may boost your retail sales, too. Some stores are
even creating their own "signature scents" that they're piping
in through their vent systems. For example, Thomas Pink clothier
pipes in the fresh scent of laundered shirts and Sony Style uses
a combination of vanilla and mandarin orange.

* Enticing Displays: Gone are the days where endless racks and
shelves of goods were enough to sell the items. Shoppers want an
eye-catching, pleasant shopping experience. Instead, create
pleasant displays to show off your wares.

* Comfy Nooks: Weary shoppers appreciate a comfortable area to
rest their tired feet and set down their heavy bags. Cozy sitting
areas may entice customers into the store where your fabulous
displays and great products will prompt them to buy. Abercrombie
& Fitch has begun to utilize this trend, creating areas with soft
lighting, cushy furniture, and books to lure teen customers in
with the hopes they'll stay and shop.

* Hot Items On The Right: Which way do you turn when you enter a
store? If you're like most shoppers, studies indicate you turn
right. So, place your best items and impulse buys on the right!

These are all really great suggestions, but I'd like to add one
more. Use flowers to help you sell! Think about this-are you more
likely to buy items in a cheerful setting that makes you feel
welcome and happy, or in a dreary one that just makes you want to
leave? Using flowers to decorate your store offers your customer
a quick pick up that may just get them to pull out their wallets,
too. Let's take a quick look at how flowers can play into the
suggestions offered by USA Today:

* Signature Scents: There are many varieties of fragrant
flowers. Choose one that brings the right feel to your store and
set up a standard delivery of the flower to your store.

* Enticing Displays: Flowers are always pleasant to look at, and
they can add a lot to your displays. Choose colors that will
catch your customers' eyes and compliment the items on display.

* Comfy Nooks: Studies have shown that flowers help people to
feel welcome in your home, so why not in your store? Flower
arrangements can be created to match any décor.

* Hot Items On The Right: To make sure those impulse buys draw
maximum attention, place brightly colored flowers near them. Your
customers will be drawn to the flowers and will be more likely to
notice the goods near them.

Sales needn't be a poker game. Use some creativity in setting up
your store, drawing customers in, and making them feel welcome.
While USA Today offered some excellent ideas, adding flowers will
increase your sales even more.

Finding People

As your business grows, so does your need for support staff.
Whether that's professional project management, accounting, call
center or distribution support, these new employees should align
with your core business values and objectives.

Before you recruit employees, define your business vision and
mission. Identify your ideal business culture. Do you support an
open-door policy or a more formal structure? Do you want a casual
atmosphere or conservative team? Are you looking for progressive
or diversified employees? Hire right the first time to ensure
long-term loyalty and minimal turn-over.

When you're first starting out, it's more financially feasible
to outsource work. For instance web and graphic design,
programming and IT, copy writing, legal and
accounting/CPA/payroll are common services businesses outsource
both at the outset and into establishment. Outsourcing eliminates
payroll, annual salary increase, unemployment, insurance and
retirement benefit, equipment and space expenses while offering
improved experience and expertise. You gain the advantage of
using services without a costly long-term commitment should your
business slow.

Other alternatives include temporary staffing centers or employee
leasing. Cash-strapped start-ups can even hiring paid or unpaid
interns. Temporary staffing gives you immediate access,
experienced personnel, lower training requirements and overtime
fees plus reduced turnover. When your needs extend beyond six
months, hire your new temp as a permanent employee, or recruit a
long-term, permanent candidate.

When its in your best interest to expand your team, talk with
friends, professional associates, customers, vendors, colleagues
and others in your personal and professional network to get
recommendations. You can also contact college, trade, vocational
or high school placement offices and the local employment agency
to find candidates. Trade or industry publications offer targeted
advertising, while online job websites and newspaper
advertisements are a more traditional and broad-reaching option.

Once you have a loyal and established employee base, save money
on recruiting by implementing an employee referral program. These
programs give employees cash bonuses for referrals resulting in a
hire. You should also establish a competitive employee retention
plan to sustain qualified workers, keep your recruiting expenses
low and productivity high.

Planning and Building Your Online Storefront

Organization is key to making sales and offering a pleasant
shopping experience. Your customer is busy and wants to
accomplish tasks quickly with minimal frustration. They also want
to find a clean and pleasing atmosphere, layout and design. Once
you intrigue your visitor with your main landing page, your goal
is to keep them there with simple navigation and fast check-out.

Jacob Nielsen, Ph.D., a leading website usability authority, User
Advocate and principal of the Nielsen Group, explains: "The
first law of e-commerce is that if users cannot find the product,
they cannot buy it either." Your website is basically just an
electronic catalog with a bit more technology. Use design, copy,
multimedia and photographs that inform your visitor and help them
buy your products. In studies, researchers found that nearly half
of all sales are lost because visitors simply cannot use the
site. Multiply this by the repeat business lost from the same
customers and your numbers grow exponentially.

While many businesses strive to be unique, websites should use
the standard navigation structure and labels of major brands.
Pioneering Internet firms like Amazon have set the standard in
customers' minds, making it intuitive to visit links like:

* Your Account
* Shopping Cart
* About Us
* Contact Us
* Help
* Search
* Press
* Careers

Before contacting a website designer, analyze your products and
audience carefully. Outline your navigation structure ensuring it
takes few clicks to reach your intended objective - a sale. Know
the expectations and experience level of your user. For instance,
teenagers will be more fluent with computers and the Internet in
general, though they may also be less sophisticated in reading or
research strategies and have a lower patience threshold. They'll
further need clever graphics and innovations to keep their
interest.

Jacob Nielsen offers ten important website usability guidelines.
These are:

Make the Site's Purpose Clear: Explain Who You Are and What You
Do

1. Include a One-Sentence Tagline

2. Write a Window Title with Good Visibility in Search Engines
and Bookmark Lists

3. Group all Corporate Information in One Distinct Area

Help Users Find What They Need

4. Emphasize the Site's Top High-Priority Tasks

5. Include a Search Input Box

Reveal Site Content

6. Show Examples of Real Site Content

7. Begin Link Names with the Most Important Keyword

8. Offer Easy Access to Recent Homepage Features

Use Visual Design to Enhance, not Define, Interaction Design

9. Don't Over-Format Critical Content, Such as Navigation Areas

10. Use Meaningful Graphics

Send your planned navigation outline to your website designer.
Then, once your website's developed, gather a test group of
about 10 people. Let each person run through various tasks on
your website without offering help or guidance. Take notes on
areas of confusion and make adjustments. If you have heavy
traffic, phase in changes gradually to minimize confusion. We've
all gone to the grocery store right after a reorganization, only
to become even more frustrated when we can't locate the Lays or
light bulbs. People get used to the way things are, good or
bad.

Acid Reflux and Looking Younger!

REFLUX GONE FOREVER, Natural Acid Reflux Remedies
http://www.refluxgoneforever.com

Many people suffer daily from the effects of acid reflux, to one
degree or another. Unfortunately, the constant strain of this
condition on the body can lead to premature aging.

The reflux of stomach gas and fluids during the night, even on a
modest level, inhibit proper sleep patterns. It is a known fact
that sleep is the most important factor affecting the aging
process. If you do not get enough quality sleep at the r.e.m.
level, you face each day with low energy, which can be described
as a form of chronic fatigue. This syndrome will eventually drag
you down and make you feel and look older than you should. It
may even shorten your life. Many people are not even aware that
they suffer from this condition.

Acid reflux or gerd (gastroesophageal reflux disease) occurs when
the LES (lower esophageal sphincter) relaxes and allows gas and
fluids from the stomach to move upward into the esophagus. The
LES is a ringed muscle at the bottom of the esophagus. It opens
in order to allow food to enter the stomach, and then closes in
order to keep the digestive fluids where they belong. It is when
this muscle is too relaxed or damaged, that the contents of the
stomach can escape up into the esophagus thereby causing acid
reflux.

The medical community would have us to believe that drugs are the
only answer to the problem of gerd. Of course this is not true.
Antacids are, at best, a temporary fix and are loaded with
harmful ingredients such as sodium and aluminum. PPI drugs
(proton pump inhibitors) like Nexium and Prilosec should only be
used for eight weeks, at most. It says so right on the label.
Furthermore, these drugs only mask and hide the symptoms and they
have hundreds of harmful side effects.

The acid reflux condition can be the result of poor eating habits
or even the aging process itself. We all know that certain foods
can trigger indigestion; tomato sauce, raw garlic and onions,
chocolate, coffee and alcohol. The ingestion of these foods can
make you acidic in nature, resulting in acid reflux. Yet most of
us can't resist one or more of these items on a daily basis.
Besides eliminating "trigger" foods from our diets, there are
many natural herbs and supplements that can be helpful in staving
off this malady.

Chronic indigestion can also be caused by a lack of hydrochloric
acid. Some people produce insufficient amounts of stomach acid
as they grow older. Besides the proper digestion of food,
hydrochloric acid is necessary to keep harmful bacteria, which
are found in the digestive track, in check. Without this
defense, infections can develop which make the acid reflux
condition even worse. This particular condition can be improved
with hydrochloric acid supplements, or even ingesting small
amounts of apple cider vinegar. Although these conditions are
different in nature, they both cause acid reflux and can result
in premature aging.

Other things that should be considered in dealing with this
condition are:

* Smoking cessation (Smoking creates an acidic body)
* Loosing weight
* Eating small portions of food throughout the day
* Chewing food well and eating slowly
* Eating at least three hours before retiring

There are many subtle changes in lifestyle which can remove the
threat of the acid reflux condition. By eliminating this
unnecessary and harmful strain on the body, one can live a more
healthy life. Getting better quality sleep will increase your
chances of retaining life-force, which means living a longer and
more youthful existence.

Charles Stewart Richey resides in Pike County, PA.
Mr. Richey is a self-educated expert on how to cure acid reflux
disease, by natural means and has written an extensive report
entitled, "REFLUX GONE FOREVER, Natural Acid Reflux Remedies".
He explains how the proper application of herbs, health store
items, meditation, diet and exercise can heal acid reflux,
gerd and heartburn, without the use of drugs.

The disease has reached epidemic proportions: Type 2 diabetes
(formerly called adult onset diabetes) now affects nearly 100
million people worldwide, 20 million of which are Americans.

And it's on the rise -- especially in kids. One in three
children born today will have diabetes in their lifetime.

That's because the path to diabetes starts very early.

The culprit is insulin.

When you eat a lot of sugar and other refined carbohydrates like
bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes, your body eventually becomes
resistant to the effects of insulin. It requires more and more
insulin to keep your blood sugar balanced. High insulin levels
increase your appetite -- and your belly fat.

High levels of insulin can occur decades before you're diagnosed
with diabetes. They are warning signs of this condition.

So are the other symptoms of insulin resistance, like belly fat,
sugar cravings, feeling tired after meals, high blood pressure
and triglycerides, and inflammation.

A family history of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and even
dementia can increase your chances of developing insulin
resistance and pre-diabetes.

And pre-diabetes is just as bad as full-blown diabetes. It, too,
can cause heart attacks, strokes, dementia, cancer, and
impotence.

So why is diabetes on the rise?

The answer is as close as the food on your plate.

Our bodies were meant to consume a diet that's high in
nutrients, fiber, and omega-3 fats and low in sugar. So when we
eat unhealthy foods -- like sugar, trans fats, white flour, and
processed foods -- we activate genes that promote diabetes.

Yet type 2 diabetes is almost totally preventable. In fact, in
one major study, Harvard researchers found that lifestyle and
diet changes could prevent more than 90 percent of all type 2
diabetes cases.

Early Diagnosis is Key

Diagnosing type 2 diabetes early is crucial to its management and
reversal.

Because damage to the body can occur with even small changes in
insulin and blood sugar, doctors should diagnose pre-diabetes as
soon as possible.

The proof is in the research. One recent study found that people
whose fasting blood sugar was higher than 87 were at increased
risk of diabetes.

Yet most doctors don't worry until the blood sugar is over 110
-- or worse, over 126, which is diabetes.

Instead, I recommend early testing with anyone who has a family
history of type 2 diabetes, belly fat, or abnormal cholesterol --
regardless of your blood sugar level.

Ask your doctor for these tests:

1. Insulin glucose challenge test with 2-hour glucose challenge,
75 grams measuring fasting, 1 and 2 hour blood sugar AND
insulin.

Your blood sugar should be less than 80 fasting and never rise
above 110 or 120 after one to two hours. Your insulin should be
less than 5 fasting and should never rise above 30 after one to
two hours.

I recommend this test for everyone over 50, and for anyone with
any risk of insulin resistance, even children.

2. The hemoglobin A1C is an important measure of glycated
hemoglobin, which can be an early indicator of sugar problems. It
should ideally be less than 5.5. Anything over 6 is considered
diabetes.

3. Lipid profiles are important. An HDL under 40 and a
triglyceride level over 150 usually means diabetes.

4. An NMR lipid profile identifies the size of your cholesterol
particles.

5. High sensitivity C-reactive protein is a measure of
inflammation, which is both a cause and result of insulin
resistance and diabetes. It should be less than 1.

6. Homocysteine is often abnormal in people with diabetes. It
should be between 6 and 8.

7. Fibrinogen measures your risk of clotting and is associated
with insulin resistance and diabetes. It should be less than
300.

8. Ferritin is a nonspecific marker of inflammation associated
with diabetes. It should be less than 150.

9. Uric acid should be less than 6. Higher levels indicate
problems with insulin resistance.

10. Elevated liver function tests result from insulin
resistance.

These are tests any doctor can perform and are covered by
insurance. If you're at risk for diabetes, I urge you to get
tested.

You see them all over TV and the internet. "The only way to
detox is the new blah blah blah." They claim to be the latest
and greatest in your body detox program, but are they actually
worth it? Learn about some of the greatest fads in natural body
detox today and if they are worth looking at.

So let's talk about your feet for a minute. Your feet? Yes.
Many people involved in a whole body detox like to do a detox
foot bath. This is not the same as the plastic massaging foot
bath you got for Christmas that you never use. A detox foot bath
uses a metal container that puts an electric charge in the water.
This charge doesn't hurt you, but binds to the toxins in your
body and carries them out through the pores in the feet. Many
people say this foot bath works well. But in any natural body
detox, removing toxins is pointless if you are just going to put
them back in your body. So yes, you may remove toxins through the
hundreds of pores in your feet but if you put them back in you
are kind of defeating the purpose.

Now what about the whole juice diet craze. It's similar to a
fast, except that you are allowing your body the nutrients from
the juice. This is a great way to cleanse the system. However,
you don't want to do it for longer than a couple of days. You
would be depriving yourself of other needed vitamins and minerals
if this is all your natural body detox consists of.

Speaking of fasting, what about purging? This is where you bulk
up on fiber, laxatives, or supplements to keep you in the
bathroom for the better part of your natural body detox. This is
one body detox tip you want to avoid. Yes, it is important to
stay regular. But besides putting yourself at risk for bulimia
and possibly harming your colon, purging doesn't do much at all.
When you purge, your body isn't going to get rid of only the
toxins and keep all the healthy stuff. It's going to get rid of
everything and leave you feeling sick and weak. While these can
be normal side effects of a healthy body detox program, don't
fool yourself into thinking that purging is the way to go.

So now we have reviewed some of the most popular body detox tips
in the fad arena. Make sure when looking at a fad that you check
credible research to find out if this is something that is here
to stay. Don't jeopardize your whole body detox by engaging in
risky behavior that will leave you worse off than when you
started. The goal is to improve your health, not sabotage it.

While supplements, superfoods and vitamins get all the attention,
minerals play an important part in your body detox program. So
what are some of the important minerals involved with a whole
body detox?

Calcium: Everyone knows that calcium is important to strong bones
and teeth, but what many don't know is calcium does a whole lot
more. The contraction of your muscles, blood clot formations,
and nerve activity all benefit from this mineral. Calcium is
also behind the absorption of vitamin B12, enzyme activity, and
the structure and function of cell membranes. It protects your
from cancer, helps all those nutrients make it down to the
cellular level, and regulates blood pressure and heart rate. It
really does do a body good.

Magnesium: Calcium isn't the only one involved in strong bones
or muscle contraction. In addition, it functions as a partner to
vitamins B, C, and E to make them work. It is important in a lot
of different biological processes. Helps with absorption of
other minerals, effective in reducing blood cholesterol and
regulating body temperature.

Phosphorus: This is part of RNA and DNA. Like calcium and
magnesium, it plays an integral role in bones and muscle
contraction. It's important for a variety of things, such as
nerve impulses, secretion of hormones, and membrane structure.
You can't utilize fats, proteins or carbohydrates without it and
it is a helper to the B-complex vitamins. The use of this mineral
is dependent on Vitamin D.

Manganese: As with the other minerals, an important part of bone
health. It also supports your body's natural ability to produce
insulin, and therefore plays in an important role in regulating
blood sugar. This mineral activates enzymes to use vitamin C.
It is also a catalyst regarding the synthesis of fatty acids and
cholesterol. Fats, proteins, and carbohydrates can't metabolize
without it.

Boron: Keeps away osteoporosis.

Zinc: If blueberries are a superfood, zinc could be called a
super mineral. Over 200 enzymes require it to function. It is
important in the production of RNA and DNA. In addition to this,
it is important to the structure and function of cell membranes.
It helps your cells regenerate, and is good all around for
growth. Your body needs zinc for your immune system, skin,
vision, taste and smell. Don't leave home without it!

Chromium: Pass the sugar, sugar! Chromium plays an important
part in using glucose. It assists in binding insulin to cells
which allows cellular glucose uptake. It decreases the insulin
requirement in diabetics. It does some work with carbs too.

Iodine: This mineral is essential to your thyroid, which in turn
affects your basal metabolic rate. It helps burn fat, turn
beta-carotene to vitamin A, and helps with the absorption of
carbs from the small intestine.

Potassium: Helps transmit nerve impulses. It also helps the
release of insulin and makes those digestive enzymes work right.
Important in balancing fluids, and stimulates kidneys to remove
toxins. An important part of any whole body detox.

Good For Your Health The Book

There are many myths and misconceptions floating around. People
unknowingly spread false information because they've heard
others saying the same thing. It does get confusing because
sometimes the so called experts are the ones spreading these
untruths.Fat is bad.Carbs are the enemy. Be afraid. Be very
afraid! Oh shut up! Here are some myths that science has cleared
up.

Fats aren't good for you Says who? We all need fat. Fat is
needed to absorb nutrients and maintain cell quality. It is when
you eat excessive amounts that you get in trouble. Excessive
eating of fatty foods can lead to heart disease and weight gain.
The key is to eat less foods that contain "bad fats" (trans
fats and saturated) like cheeseburgers and butter. And start
eating more "good fats" (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated)
like fish, nuts and olive oil.

Sugar causes diabetes Ask the average person and they'll say
that sugar causes diabetes. Nope! Sorry. Thanks for playing
though. We have some nice parting gifts for you... If you have
the disease you need to watch your sugar and carbohydrates
intake. But if you don't have diabetes, you won't get it from
eating sugar. The main risk factors for diabetes are a high
caloric diet, being over weight and not being physically active.
That's how you can get it.

Brown eggs are better for you than white eggs The color of the
egg has nothing to do with it's nutritional quality. Some breeds
of hen lay white eggs while others lay brown. Case closed!

Brown sugar is better than white sugar If your sugar is refined -
my suggestion is don't eat it. "Refined" is a manufacturing
process where they strip it of all it's nutrients. Brown/white
doesn't matter. They're both bad for you. Replace refined sugar
with raw cane or beet sugar, pure honey or molasses.

You need a low-carb diet to lose weight Ok I'll make this as
simple as possible. To gain weight you must eat more calories than
what is needed to maintain your weight. The excess calories will
be stored as fat. So if weight is maintained with 2000 calories,
if you ate 2500 calories, you will gain weight. If you want to
lose weight you must eat less calories than what is needed to
maintain your weight. So if weight is maintained with 2000
calories, then eating 1500 will reduce your weight.

People on those diets lose weight because it has less calories.
Losing or gaining weight is about calories (food and physical
activity) not carbs. Next! Red meat is bad for you Really? Ya
think so? Like most things, too much is a bad thing. But I would
never suggest cutting it out of your diet altogether( unless your
doctor says so).

Choose lean cuts of meat like top sirloin or eye of round. Switch
it up with some fish sometimes. Cut the skin off of poultry,
because that is high in fat. Other nutrition myths are:

Skipping meals can help you lose weight: nope Eating before you
sleep causes weight gain: nope Preservatives are bad for you: Not
all. But some can be Canned/frozen fruits and vegetables aren't
as nutritious: Depends. But not always

Fitness myths

No pain No gain

Wow, is your trainer a masochist or something? That seems kinda
harsh. You shouldn't be feeling serious pain when you work out.
If so, slow it down and relax. In order to build muscles you need
to push yourself harder than normal. But discomfort is different
from mind-numbing pain. If you're working/exercising too hard
-stop immediately. Get treatment if pains persist.

Drinking water when you exercise gives you cramps. You need water
when you work out. If you sweat, you need to replace what you
lost. Drinking water when exercising is what you should be doing.
If you don't you can experience dizziness, headaches or cramps.
So drink up. Exercising requires a lot of time Just walking 30
minutes a day would greatly reduce your risk for heart disease
and obesity. That is not a lot.

If you're too busy to take an active approach about your health,
then don't complain when you feel the results. Your body
doesn't fail you until you fail your body. There are many many
more myths out there. Some people make their money off of false
and misleading information. And some just believe what they've
been told without questioning it. Don't believe everything you
read or hear. Check the facts out for yourself.

Expired Domain Secret
http://www.expireddomainsecret.com

Once you find out a good expired domain name after searching
through a big catalogue of expired domains, the next obvious step
is to register expired domain as per the existing rules and
regulations stipulated by registering authorities. Following are
few steps that registrars suggest you follow to register expired
domain name:

People who wish to register expired domain should know all the
legal and regulatory clauses and laws. When you know the
nitty-gritty of working with an expired domain, you will be on a
safer side, with a clean expired domain name in your hand.
Several laws and legislations govern all aspects of expired
domain name registration; most of these legal strictures are very
rigid and one needs to follow them letter by letter.

To register expired domain name:

* Firstly, you will need to develop a list of potential
expired domain names by surfing through the catalogue of
names offered by the expired domain sellers. * Once you
search through the list, you will need to segregate the
available names based on their extension. There are a number of
domains to choose from, ranging from .com, .biz to .org and
.info. * By chance, when you find an immediately available
domain name, you may need to rush and register immediately.
If you have enough funds, you can even buy and register the
closest possible substitutes. If you find a name that is
similar to yours or if there is a hyphened version, then you
may consider register them as well, just to protect your
rights and virtual presence. * If there is a domain name owned
by a previous owner, you may wish to know the history and
track record of that expired domain name. If the site is
surrounded with a considerable amount of inbound traffic,
there will be a huge rush for the domain due to its
commercial importance. Such domains will have some tell-tale
symbols prominently displayed on the home page of the site. A
good expired domain will be listed on top of the list and it
may carry a steep price tag.

Once you feel that you have a good expired domain name in your
kitty, you can start initiating the process of registering the
expired domain in question. Register expired domain as early as
possible to prevent someone registering for it; right now, there
is a fierce competition for available expired domain names and a
good name may fetch considerable fortune.

Register expired domain to create an invaluable asset and a
future goldmine. Registration of an expired domain will have to
carry out in a stipulated period mentioned by the registrar. Once
you become successful in registering your expired domain with the
registrar who sold it to you, the next important thing is to
protect all trademarks and logos associated with the domain.
People register expire domain for a period of two years or more
and keep it for their own use. On the other hand, others may
register for a period of just one year and sell it off for a big
profit within one year.

Eminem Grew Up With The Scent Of Apple Blossoms In The Air

Article Description:
====================

Although he wasn't born in Michigan, rapper Eminem spent a great
deal of his childhood there and, in fact, set his hit
semi-autobiographical movie 8 Mile there. Though his movie may
not have painted an idealistic picture of the great state of
Michigan, many who call it home are quick to mention the sweet
fragrance the abundant apple blossoms spread through the air when
their beautiful pink blossoms adorn the apple trees.

Michigan is responsible for the growth of a great many of the
apples we bring to our tables throughout the year. In fact, the
apple species pyrus coronaria is native to Michigan. This species
yields some of the most beautiful and fragrant flowers of all
apple trees. With its abundance of apple trees, Michigan produces
the second highest amount of apples in America.

It really comes as no surprise to learn that the apple blossom is
the state flower of Michigan. William Harris is responsible for
introducing the legislation suggesting that Michigan officially
recognize the apple blossom as a state symbol. The apple blossom
is so loved in Michigan, that Joint Resolution No. 10, which made
it the state flower includes phrases like:

* "Our blossoming apple trees add much to the beauty of our
landscape, an Michigan apples have gained a worldwide
reputation;" and

* "At least one of the most fragrant and beautiful flowered
species of apple, the pyrus coronaria, is native to our state."

Growing your own apples in a home garden is both easy and
rewarding. There's no need to live on an apple orchard; you can
enjoy the beauty of a flowering apple tree in your own yard. But,
if you can't grow an apple tree but would love to enjoy the
fragrance and beauty of apple blossoms in your home, your florist
may carry them when they are in season, or may be willing to
order them for you even if they aren't a typical component of
the store's stock.

If you're interested in obtaining floral arrangements including
freshly cut apple blossoms, contact your florist in the early
spring to see if the flowers will be available for purchase. Many
florists are quite willing to do some research to locate flowers
for their customers even if they don't normally carry a certain
variety.

Even if you aren't living in the apple blossom state of Michigan
like Eminem, you can enjoy the beauty and sweet smell of apple
blossoms. Call your florist for assistance.
